The astrology for this week of January 15th through the 21st can have us with nose to grindstone moving various mountains and focused on what needs to be done before the energy shifts and we look up towards the distant horizon to the options and alternatives that we might not have considered before.
The week begins with us being highly resourceful and with a commitment and passion to accomplish our deep-seated goals. We are likely concentrating on the details, dealing with the specifics of our daily routine and our plans ahead.
The Capricorn New Moon on Tuesday – Wednesday is a powerful configuration that impacts the next two weeks. We can virtually move mountains and possibly more with a winch than through our brawn. We can be astute and adept at getting the most ‘bang for our buck’. Little may escape our eye. Our attitude could be deadly serious, and we might feel that our autonomy for doing our own thing is being restricted by the demands of our responsibilities.
Let’s keep in mind ‘first things first’. We may have to take care of the foundation and support system before we launch off into new directions. It’s all a matter of timing, always is. As the week progresses, the energy shifts subtly whereby we can incorporate into our daily regimen the ability to consider options and alternatives.
While we might have had nose to grindstone early in the week, the latter part of the week and over the weekend may have us in a socializing mood and with interludes of various ‘time outs’ when we reflect on what could be and where we might choose to go in our days ahead.
Monday, January 15th – Adept and Skilled – Mercury, Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto. Monday begins the week with the Capricorn Moon conjunct Mercury and the Moon sextile Neptune. Jupiter sextiles Pluto. We are on the dark side of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon. This Monday is a good day for us to shake off any negative impressions from experiences we might have encountered over the weekend. There could have been some interesting, albeit disturbing, matters that may have come up over the weekend. This Monday is a day to accept some of the surprising developments, reconfigure our plans based upon new information and strategize in the most expeditious and resourceful manner our proposed intentions. This day is far better for preparation than launching. New Moons and the waxing Moon up to the Full Moon are far better for new beginnings and initiations. If we have old matters to conclude, this Monday would be a good day to complete them. Waning Moons are far better for completions of matters already started and clearing the decks for the new thrust of energy that we get with the New Moon.
Tuesday, January 16th – Lining Up Our Ducks –Pluto, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, Capricorn New Moon, Sun. Tuesday continues with the Capricorn Moon with the Moon conjunct Pluto, the Moon sextile both Jupiter and Mars both in Scorpio, the Moon square Uranus, and with the day culminating with the Moon conjunct the Sun at the time of the Capricorn New Moon. Just as we might have done yesterday, this day is a good day to prioritize our activities and our future endeavors. It would be wise for us to consider what we want to accomplish during this forthcoming New Moon phase and the fortnight that follows up to the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on the 31st, another Supermoon. We don’t have to rush the river nor jump the gun. This day is far better for preparing the soil, weeding our garden of extraneous matters and needless distractions, and give thought to what we want to initiate and begin in the days ahead. This New Moon is a powerful configuration with six planets in the Cardinal Earth Sign, the New Moon sextile the Mars and Jupiter, but the New Moon square Uranus. If we are willing to keep our head down, focus on our goals and not feel restricted by our commitments, then we can accomplish a great deal. The proverb warns us that ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’, but astrology shares with us timing, and the timing on the short-term is best for us to have nose to grindstone, take care of the particulars along the way and virtually move mountains. In the next few days, some of the energy will shift. We’ll be able to engage social occasions and lift our eyes from what is right in front of us as far as our responsibilities and increasingly see options for our future involvements. But let’s line our ducks up in a row first.
Wednesday, January 17th – the Future is Now – Venus, Venus Aquarius. The Capricorn Moon conjuncts Venus before the Moon moves into Aquarius and before Venus exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius later in the day. While our expressions can be gracious and detail-driven, the energy on this Wednesday begins to shift. Apart from occasional transits of the Moon through an Air Element Sign, we have been without Air since the second week of December. We may have been gasping for Air with a consequent effect that communications may have been stunted and clarity all but forgotten. That situation is rectified today as Venus exits Capricorn to enter the Fixed Air Sign of Aquarius. We may become more interested in listening to what is going on and ever alert to some new information that can shed light on possible future trajectories for ourselves. We may have been focused on our responsibilities and our goals, but in the process we might have had blinders on, unable to see beyond the straight and narrow, unable to look at anything except that which was right in front of us. The energy starts to shift late on this Wednesday as we entertain get-togethers with interesting and quirky characters, people who are marching to their drummer and who might ignite an interest in us to delve beyond our usual parameters and consider fascinating but very different trajectories from what we are accustomed to.
Thursday, January 18th – If Only – Jupiter. The Moon continues its transit through Aquarius and in the late day the Moon squares Jupiter. We can be considering all sorts of options and alternatives for ourselves on this Thursday. Our head can be spinning with waves of possibilities, and we are unlikely to cast aside even those prospects that seem to have no remote chance of happening. While we may still be attending to our responsibilities, we are less likely to feel in a straight jacket and moving only forward one step at a time. We could have a sense that perhaps the paradigm shift is a true reality where things can happen in the most unexpected manner, and that our daily life is not merely relegated to doing the same thing day in, day out. This is a day for us to conceptually spread our wings, be open to a vast array of likely involvements, and appreciate that in this new paradigm shift intention is a major ingredient and we are not sole masters of our lives but rather co-creators with the universe unfolding. We might mutter mantram-like the wise and true saying: ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ Life is not, nor has it ever truly been, a sequential, linear progression of narrow parameters of putting one foot in front of the other. Dispelling that long-held myth, we may come to recognize the magic and mini-miracles that pepper our lives and often shift our trajectories even when we are unable to shift them for ourselves. Late in the day, we may douse our enthusiasm for alternate realities for ourselves by acknowledging that we might not have the resources to pull off major changes. Why put a damper on our future by diminishing the influence of the universe unfolding?
Friday, January 19th – Knowing Before Going – Uranus, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Sun Aquarius. Friday begins with the Aquarius Moon sextile Uranus and the Moon square Mars before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for eight and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces where today the Pisces Moon sextiles Saturn. Mercury sextiles Neptune and the Sun exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. We may be amping to engage new interests, take different directions from our usual pathway. It would be wise for us to consider alternatives, take into account the resources we have available to engage new pursuits, and consider the ramifications of any actions. Being impetuous could create more difficulties than taking the time to sit with our possible new movements, feeling out whether our intended plans seem ‘right’ or just an impulsive pull to get out of our present circumstances. Our intuition could be heightened today, so it would be wise to seek out some quiet time to figure out what we should do and when we should do it. The beauty of this time that is starting to unfold is that we can establish firm foundations as we pursue new trajectories. Someone might provide interesting input as to our possibilities, our plan of action and any pitfalls we might experience along our way. Having someone detached offering us an objective perspective could avoid us from racing forward with all sorts of assumptions but also with us having blinders on and seeing things only from our own viewpoint and liable to be seen through rose-colored glasses.
Saturday, January 20th – Reflective, Contemplative Movements – Neptune, Mercury. Saturday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today conjunct Neptune and the Moon sextile Mercury. This Saturday may be slow-starting. We may not want to feel under any compulsion to do anything. If we do not have major commitments for this day or obligations to address, then we might we able to use this day in a reflective manner. Our emotions can be heightened, and we might feel like dry sponges taking to water, absorbing all the moods and feelings of the people around us, the environment in which we find ourselves and the news of the world. Let’s use a good filtration process as far as what news and information we let it. Enough with all the negativity and hatred! If need be, we can always go into our happy, safe place where everyone likes us so long as we are in a mood to like ourselves. This can be a dreamy day, and it’s important that we keep the dream light and happy and not turn it into a nightmare of concern and anxiety. Remember, our attitude about things is one of choice, always our choice. We may not have control over our circumstances or conditions. We do have control over our attitude and our emotions. Saturday is a good day for us to reflect on our journey, see the spiritual aspects of our pathway and feel nurtured and inspired by music, art, or walks out in the cathedral of nature.
Sunday, January 21st – True Believer – Pluto, Jupiter, Marrs. There are times when we might feel as though we are gliding along as if on a cloud or on a magic carpet ride. Saturday and Sunday could have that sort of feel to them. The Moon continues through Pisces on this Sunday with the Moon today sextile Pluto and the Moon trine both Jupiter and Mars both in Scorpio. Increasingly, we may find that we are being more effective with less expenditure of energy by tuning into what is really going on and working with the energies unfolding rather than manipulating or attempting to control things according to our will. If we would prioritize our intended actions today, we might find that we are operating on greased wheels. Things can happen quickly and effectively and with minimal resources expended. The key to this day is not to force anything but rather to move tai chi like. Saturday and Sunday might be good days to recharge our batteries, give ourselves some quiet time and replenish our spiritual nature. Although we are often mired in the material realm, our true journey through this life experience is not about acquisition and accumulation but in truth about soul growth and spiritual development. Saturday and Sunday give us the energies to concentrate on our spiritual aspects rather than our material conquests.
