The astrology for this week of December 4th through the 10th of 2017 could have us revving our engines, racing around, all under the cautionary yellow flag due to the Mercury retrograde.
This is the first full week of the last of this year’s Mercury retrogrades when Murphy’s Law is in effect where ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’. With Mercury retrograding back through Sagittarius, a Sign in which Mercury is in Detriment and uncomfortable, and during a time with a Stellium of four planets in the Mutable Fire Sign of Sagittarius, we have to be extremely careful not to jump to conclusions or take bone-headed actions.
Impacted by the effects of Sunday’s Super Moon in Gemini, we could be all over the place as we start the week, pushed and pulled between old matters and unexpected situations, all the while feeling like we are in a world of confusion. Let’s not exhaust ourselves to begin the week but rather slow things down, evaluate everything as we go along and be willing to shift and change in virtually a nanosecond.
Although we could stagger into the week, the comforts of the familiar and the nurture from friends and family can stabilize us and help us see the depth of what is really going on. We might have been snookered by the hype and the images, but our intuitive sense can cut through the projections to get to the heart of any matter.
Mid-week may have us going back over matters once thought resolved, but we are likely to have a different spin on things now compared to our viewpoint earlier when some of these past matters first came up. Sometimes, going back allows us to move forward more effectively and quickly.
The latter part of the week might have us focused on having a good time. Whether we engage in our own creative projects or appreciate the creative projects of others, we are more interested in celebrating talent and creative expression than pontificating our opinions. With the Leo Moon starting later on Wednesday and culminating with a Fire Grand Trine on Friday, these energy configurations are wonderful astrological auspices for Art Basel in Miami the latter part of this week into the weekend.
If we do not avail ourselves of a visit to Art Basel or other pleasurable events, the weekend can be one of errands and dealing with the necessary specifics of our lives that we often put off due to the frantic pace of our daily responsibilities.
A major energy shift occurs over the weekend as Mars shifts Signs, moving from a Sign where Mars is in Detriment, Libra, and uncomfortable, into a Sign that Mars rules, Scorpio. If we have suffered lethargy over recent weeks, we may get our passion back and feel more energized with greater determination to move our plans ahead.
Just keep in mind: Beware, and be aware, of the Mercury retrograde.
Monday, December 4th – Rushing Then Braking – Uranus, Mars, Saturn, Mercury. We may be feeling the influence of yesterday’s Super Moon, the Gemini Full Moon, with a thrust of energy that can have us start the week in super drive. Or we might be feeling yesterday’s strong influence of Neptune combined with Mercury retrograde creating a strong concoction of anxious confusion. Whatever our senses might be; we start this week with a burst of energy. The week begins with the Gemini Moon sextile Uranus and the Moon trine Mars. We may be determined to get our holiday plans in order, all the while that we are concentrating on our future intentions with a desire to put into place the right template to accomplish our future goals. As the day proceeds, the Gemini Moon opposes both Saturn and Mercury, which could cause nasty bumps along the way, whether slowing us down, tripping us up, or bringing a halt to some of our greatest intentions. This is a day when we might be fast out of the gate only to have the brakes sharply applied. While this Monday could be a roller coaster day of wild euphoria to stunted distress, it would be wise for us to keep in mind the patterns of these times with their extreme volatility. To cope with the turbulent swings, we might choose to keep in mind the Buddhist concept of ‘the middle way’, engage detachment and try to maintain objectivity in order to avoid the swings in our emotions. Later on this Monday, the Moon exits Gemini to enter the Sign the Moon rules, Cancer. To borrow from The Rolling Stones, the latter part of this day could have each of us seeking: ‘Gimme Shelter’.
Tuesday, December 5th – Lovely Day, Lovely Day – Lunar Grand Trine, Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto. Tuesday can be a day when we are decorating our homes, our environment or ourselves. The Cancer Moon today triggers a Water Grand Trine as the Moon trines Neptune in Pisces and the Moon trines Jupiter in Scorpio. Home and family matters may be on our front burner today, even to the exclusion of our daily responsibilities. Our sense of nurture and compassion today could be enhanced. We might decide to donate to worthy causes with recognition of how blessed we are and how much suffering other people may be going through. Our emotions can be heightened, and we might feel the true nature of this time of year, the spiritual quality of our lives and of our beings that is often masked by the mundane and egocentric aspects of our lives. The beauty of this time of year, despite the holiday frenzy, is the thinning of dimensions, the opportunity to pierce the veil of Maya, the illusions of the earth plane, and touch base with the ethereal and spiritual qualities of life. Let’s keep in mind the concept of karma, whereby what goes around comes around. Even small gestures of assistance and encouragement to someone else can eventually pay handsome dividends to us in return. Later in the day the Moon opposes Pluto. After some idyllic reveries and ‘feel good’ incidents on this Tuesday, we could be brought back down to earth and realize certain tasks that we have put aside and need to soon address.
Wednesday, December 6th – Putting Our Toys Away – Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Mars, Mercury, Saturn. The thing about these times is the extreme volatility in the energies. It often seems as though life, and our lives, have taken on a bipolar characteristic. We may feel on top of the world one day, only to be depressed the next day. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week could prove symptomatic of this quality. There could have been a richness, a beauty, a strong spiritual aspect yesterday whereby everything felt good and everything fell neatly together with little effort on our part. The energy might have started to shift in the late day hours yesterday, but this Wednesday can seem like the life being sucked out of us with us feeling increased fatigue and a liability to putting a negative spin on things. Wednesday has the Cancer Moon triggering a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Uranus in Aries and the Moon squares Mars in Libra. We also have Mercury retrograde conjunct Saturn and Mercury sextile Mars with Mars sextile Saturn. We can be pushed and pulled in different directions, some of the pushes coming from our own desires, some of the pulls coming from somebody else’s needs, some of the push pulls coming from our responsibilities and past issues cropping up. Instead of hosting a pity party for one, let’s get a grip on what needs to get done, develop a strategic template and then deal with what we need to accomplish. No need grousing about things or wishing that yesterday’s ‘feel good’ disposition could happen all the time. This Wednesday asks us to put our toys away and take care of business. Later in the day, the Moon exits Cancer to enter Leo and the mood can shift dramatically. Instead of being overly emotional and reactive, we can take a proactive stance, engage our creativity or participate in some fun events.
Thursday, December 7th – Too Much of a Good Thing – Venus, Jupiter, Sun. Thursday continues with the Leo Moon with the Moon today trine both Venus and the Sun, and the Moon square Jupiter. We may be looking to spread our wings today, enjoy some good times and possibly look far afield for our richly deserved pleasures. While we can be upbeat and expansive today, we do have to be wary of being over expansive in regard to our expenditures and our schedule. We could either spend too much or try and take on too much. The energies this week can seem like a real roller coaster of good times and down times. Tuesday might have been close to idyllic, yesterday a bit of a downer and today we might look to make up for yesterday’s somber mood. Extremes are exactly that — extreme. Let’s enjoy ourselves on this Thursday, express our fun and creative side, but all the while keeping track of our finances. We could tend to be over generous, downright extravagant, so a budget would be well advised for this Thursday.
Friday, December 8th – Hard to Be Better Than This – Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Mercury, Saturn, Mars. Friday continues with the Leo Moon with the Moon today triggering a Fire Grand Trine as the Moon trines Uranus in Aries and trines Mercury and Saturn both in Sagittarius. The Moon also sextiles Mars and late in the day the Moon exits Leo to enter Virgo. We may be operating on all cylinders firing today. We could feel like we are at the top of our game. Not only do we have a presence about us. We also can think outside the box, offer interesting and well-considered options, and provide the right template by which to accomplish our goals expeditiously. This is a day when we could win over even our sharpest critics. It would be hard to punch a hole in what we have to say or the way that we say it. Our creativity is highly engaged today, so it would be a good day for us to put our own creative spin on things and also take into account the creative expressions of other people. This may turn out to be one of those days when it would be hard to be better than this, much less the positive energies.
Saturday, December 9th – Keeping the Focus – Lunar T-Square, Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, Mars Scorpio. The Moon in Virgo triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon square Venus and the Moon opposed Neptune. The Moon sextiles Jupiter. Mars exits Libra, a Sign of Detriment for Mars where Mars is not comfortable. Mars enters Scorpio, a Sign Mars co-rules with Pluto. This day could have us all over the place trying to deal with the various errands and details that we need to get done. If we don’t plan out our schedule, we could be running around but without much focus. Time management is called for today. Proper planning would go a long way to streamlining our tasks at hand. Let’s be wary of impulse purchases today and not be mesmerized by the bright, sparkly things that catch our eye. If we will make our list, check it twice, we could find that our shopping is replete with finding true bargains. The Sign shift of Mars is likely to give us greater energy, more perseverance and the determination to move mountains if we were so to choose. A lot can be going on today. We just need to do proper planning and not race around without an itinerary in hand.
Sunday, December 10th – Grounded Insights – Pluto, Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Venus, Neptune. Sunday has the Virgo Moon trine Pluto and the Moon square the Sagittarius transiting planets of the Sun, Mercury and Saturn. Mercury trines Uranus, and Venus squares Neptune. We may have fascinating insights today, some of which we can employ in a most practical manner. A grounded approach and dealing with particulars today are encouraged, but we do have to be wary that we don’t look to expand too far, too fast today. We might feel that we have everything together and that any problems are readily resolved, but we also have to be careful what we say and to whom we say it, what we hear and from whom we hear it. This is a day for us to trust our own instincts and listen to our own inner voice. Surprising developments can be enticing but someone jealous of us could suggest we climb too far out on the limb. Before we depend upon someone’s input, let’s be certain to check the source and check their agenda. This is a day to treasure those ‘ah-ha’ moments but to use them to address specifics in a step-by-step manner.
