The astrology for this week of August 14th through the 20th is the first full week of Mercury retrograde, and we have to be careful not to get tripped up by our own good intentions.
The week starts off effectively enough. If we have gotten used to the Mercury retrograde, and with this one a liability to forget details and miss the specifics, then we can be highly productive as we begin the week. Taking things slowly, drawing upon both our intuitive sense and our reasoning mind and not pushing the envelope of what we want only the way we want it; we could accomplish a lot.
As the week progresses, we can be too fast on the draw. We might antagonize someone by either doing too much or not enough. Our sense of balance may be off, so it would be wise for us to concentrate, focus and not be distracted by a wide variety of diversions. Not everything may be as it appears.
Some people may be traveling this week, whether on vacation or to begin the school year. It would be wise to add on extra time getting from place to place and to keep our finances on a tight rein. Budgeting our time, our efforts and our expenses could prevent us from overdoing.
This is a week for us to avoid excess, although extremes might be the tenor of the mid-week period. Justifying preparations for our autumn activities, we are likely to go on a binge, buying this, purchasing that, but possibly with the sense of giving ourselves some treat to assuage our uneasiness during these crazy-making times.
Some people are gearing up for next Monday’s Solar Eclipse, which has been given the name ‘the Great American Solar Eclipse’ with all sorts of scary portents as a result.
The weekend would be a good time for re-creational activities and times spent with that special person or those special people in our lives.
Let’s maintain a proactive sense regarding our own personal lives and not feel that we can only be reactive to situations far beyond our personal input. We are still in summer, and it might not be a bad idea to turn off the news, go outdoors and embrace the sanctity of nature’s cathedral.
Monday, August 14th – Keeping Our Wits About Us – Lunar Grand Trine, Mercury, Pluto, Neptune, Venus, Mars, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday starts the week, the first full week of Mercury retrograde, with the Taurus Moon triggering an Earth Grand Trine and the day chart creating a kite pattern chart. The Grand Trine has the Taurus Moon trine Mercury in Virgo and the Moon trine Pluto in Capricorn. The Moon sextiles Neptune in Pisces, and the Moon sextiles Venus in Cancer. The Moon squares both Mars and the Sun both in Leo. The kite pattern chart is created by the Neptune sextile Pluto and Neptune sextile the Moon and Neptune opposed Mercury. This Monday can be one powerful day, if we keep our wits about us. Things can flow smoothly and easily into manifestation. We can blend our foresight, intuitive sense, with our empirical, reasoning mind, to conceive a best practices approach, all the while that we are concentrating on the most significant matters we wish to address. This sense of ease with things falling neatly into place might prove too good for us not to push the envelope. We have to watch that we don’t push too forcefully or try to do too much on this Monday. We could just as well get in our own way and bring things crashing down around us. This Monday is a day for us to be co-creators with the universe unfolding with an appreciation that there are times when everything works out by itself without our being arrogant and messing things up. Resolutions are easier today by our gentle hand rather than an aggressive posture. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost eleven hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini tomorrow morning. Late in the day, the energy dies down even further, but this Monday is a day when subtle movements and working with the energies unfolding go a great deal further than our pushing the envelope.
Tuesday, August 15th – Here or There – Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Pluto. Yesterday could have been a gift from the gods / goddesses so long as we didn’t shoot ourselves in the foot by forcing matters. Tuesday is a different matter. The Moon turned Void-of-Course late on Monday as the Taurus Moon finishes its transit of Taurus without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Gemini early on this Tuesday. The Gemini Moon today makes no connections to the planets. We could be in a helter-skelter mood, trying this, trying that but possibly without any significant follow through. The energy for this day apart from the Jekyll and Hyde quality of the Gemini Moon is largely revolving around Venus opposed Pluto. Venus in Cancer today opposes Pluto in Capricorn. The Venus also triggers a Cardinal Grand Cross for the next ten days with Venus opposed Pluto today, Venus square Jupiter on Thursday and Venus square Uranus next week. Relationships could be a little dicey for the next week, and it would be wise to be attentive to our dealings with other people without antagonizing anyone. Tuesday can have some push – pulls between wanting to hang out at home and having to deal with the responsibilities of our everyday involvements. With a thrust of energy today, we could be caroming from one thing to another to yet another. Our follow through could be lacking as we try to do ever so many things on this Tuesday. The key to this day is to focus on one thing at a time and not to feel under the gun of deadlines, whether those deadlines are self-imposed or determined by someone else. If we could hide out on this Tuesday, we might prefer doing so but even in the sanctity of our homes we can still be intruded on by phone calls, text messages and knocks on the door.
Wednesday, August 16th – From Sublime to Ridiculous – Mars, Jupiter, Lunar Grand Cross, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn. Monday could have felt like we were working in a highly functional realm where everything worked smoothly and easily. It might have felt like guardian angels or the universe was our greater benefactor and protector with everything falling into place, unless of course we mucked things up by our getting in our own way. Yes, Monday could have been sublime, this Wednesday not so much. Wednesday could be the flipside and take us from Monday’s sublime into today’s ridiculous. The Gemini Moon today sextiles Mars and the Moon trines Jupiter. That’s the good news. The more ridiculous and bad news is the fact that the Gemini Moon today triggers a Mutable Sign Grand Cross with the Moon square Mercury in Virgo, the Moon square Neptune in Pisces and the Moon opposed Saturn in Sagittarius. Remember we are also dealing under Mercury retrograde. The Keystone Kops might have nothing on us today. We may not be thinking clearly and could readily find ourselves going around in circles, doing a little bit here, a little bit there, but without accomplishing a whole lot. On the contrary, our efforts might seem half-hearted at best and a downright mess at its worst. We might be a little pig-headed today with a liability of digging ourselves a bigger hole rather than recognizing that some efforts will bear no fruit. Drawing upon someone’s objective viewpoint could help us avoid pitfalls or wasting our time today on unproductive endeavors.
Thursday, August 17th – All This and More – Sun, Uranus, Venus, Jupiter. Thursday begins with the Gemini Moon with the Moon sextile the Sun in Leo and the Moon sextile Uranus in Aries. The Moon then moves into Cancer but makes no aspects to the planets today. Venus hits another part of the Cardinal Sign Grand Cross with the Venus in Cancer square Jupiter in Libra. After yesterday’s craziness that could have left us exhausted and confused, we might feel as though we want to do whatever we want to do on this Thursday. We may justify our time of doing nothing unless it feels right to us as a ‘mental health’ day. The liability today could be having us going to extremes whereby we are enjoying ourselves to the max and beyond or being overly generous to those people near and dear. It would be wise to keep a grip on our expenses today since we might want to spend and spend in our pleasuring ourselves. Let’s keep in mind that much of our life journey is to find balance and maintain the equilibrium of balance. Unfortunately, these times talk more to extremes, and each of us has a tendency to extremes whether the extreme is satiating our appetites and then gorging even more or flipping to the extreme of self-abstinence and denying ourselves any form of satisfaction. The carom point today could be more to the extreme of indulgence. We might want to seek out our safe, happy place where we can feel king or queen of our domain.
Friday, August 18th – Threading the Needle – Mercury, Neptune, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Jupiter. The Cancer Moon today sextiles Mercury and the Moon trines Neptune. The Moon also triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Pluto and the Moon square Jupiter. This Friday is a day when we might begin the day quite astute to what is going on. We might not reveal everything we see or that we are aware of. We can feel people out and get a good sense as to where they are coming from. Due diligence today with allowance for our intuitive sense of things can go a long way to effectively accomplishing what needs to get done. Let’s be expeditious in tying up loose ends and clearing the decks before the weekend, for as the day progresses we might find that someone is placing demands on us and playing their IOU card needing us to do something for them. Relationships could prove dicey late in the day. People might have high expectations of us or critique what we have done without recognizing where we have come from. This day is a day of major differences. The day begins with us highly attuned only to find someone throwing monkey wrenches into the spokes of our wheels in the evening hours. Although we may have worked out an expeditious itinerary for ourselves, we need to be aware of situations that might arise not from our doing but rather as a result of someone else. It would seem important for us to have contingency plans should things start to go awry.
Saturday, August 19th – Slow Going – Venus, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday begins with the Cancer Moon conjunct Venus and the Moon square Uranus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for two and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo. Some of our intentions for this Saturday might not come about. We could feel blocked in doing whatever we want. While the day can be slow starting with us feeling hard to get going, the second half of the day seems geared to enjoying ourselves, having a good time and expressing our creative side. Tidying around our home environment in the morning hours, tending to necessary weekend errands would then open the day to recreational pursuits. Even if we have commitments to address, let’s do so in the morning in order to free ourselves up for the afternoon, evening and tomorrow. We may feel that we have gained a second wind as this Saturday progresses. We seem far more energized and less moody, more active than reactive, and looking to spread our wings. The energy from midday of this Saturday through Sunday can have us flying high.
Sunday, August 20th – All Stops Out – Jupiter, Mars. The second half of Saturday could have started our engines, focused us on having a good time and given us a thrust of energy. Sunday seems to ratchet our energy up. The Leo Moon today sextiles Jupiter and the Moon conjuncts Mars. Jupiter sextiles Mars. Whether encouraged by someone else or we light the fire under ourselves, this is a day when we are likely to go for the gold. We may be feeling at the top of our game and willing to push forcefully ahead with our projects, our ambitions and our good times. While relationships recently might have been a little dicey, this Sunday may have us engaging the Mutual Admiration Society. No matter the craziness occurring in the world at large, our own corner of the world can feel like a grand adventure with us being a master painter in the art of living. Nothing is too good for us today. We’re not willing to be held back but rather embracing the encouragement of someone to go for it, no matter how we might define our ‘it’. This is a day for us to pull out all stops, recognize that whatever impediments might get in the way are but momentary obstacles that need not deter us, might only deflect us briefly, from realizing our greatest ambitions. This is a primo day for us to create and re-create, to breathe deeply the bounty of our universe and to feel the lushness of our life and the beauty in our living. It hardly gets better than this.
