May 8th – 14th, 2017

The astrology for this week of May 8th through the 14th may have us doing a good Spring cleaning, clearing the way for a more expansive time that can lead us into new directions.

The week begins with a lot on our plate, whether they are our usual responsibilities, addressing loose ends in need of being tied up, and / or a desire to implement new projects and activities.

Let’s keep in mind that we have just come off Mercury retrograde, a three-week period that may have been challenging with all sorts of monkey wrenches being thrown in the spokes of our wheels. We are still in the ‘shadow’ of the Mercury retrograde, so we need to recognize that we could still experience some screw-ups along the way. Let’s be aware, mindful and cautious, which actually are keywords for these times whether Mercury is retrograde or not.

Even if we embrace a wide range of options at the start of this week, the mid-part of the week can have us culling and focusing on what we might consider truly important or what we determine that we actually have the resources to accomplish. There are times when we need to rid ourselves of outdated or frustrating situations in order to create the space for the new and more exciting to come forward.

The mid-week period on Wednesday has the Scorpio Full Moon and also has Mercury conjunct Uranus, the third and last of this Mercury Uranus configuration that has gone on since early Spring. Creating space for unexpected situations would be advised, for we could also gain some very interesting insights or opportunities for us that virtually come out of the blue.

If we use due diligence in regard to evaluating and considering our options, we are less likely to follow sparkly and enticing situations that eventually could lead us nowhere… Like Dug the dog in the film Up: ‘Squirrel!’… let’s not go there.

We may be in a very expansive mood at the end of the week and early on the weekend. We can be feeling good about ourselves, and our upbeat attitude can be contagious. These are days when whatever our audience might be we are preaching to the choir and gaining appreciation for our take charge attitude and our ability to pivot in accord with changing parameters.

The end of the weekend has Mother’s Day, a day when we can honor our mothers, and a day of a Hallmark holiday when the ‘shoulds’ and ‘oughts’ often curtail our self-determination. Let’s honor our mothers with the recognition that we might be stepping back on to Memory Lane. It’s what’s asked of us, and it’s what we do.

Monday, May 8th – Dancing to Someone Else’s Tune – Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Mercury, Uranus, Saturn. Monday could prove to be one of those ‘manic Mondays’. The Libra Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon square Pluto and the Moon opposed both Mercury and Uranus. Later in the day, the Moon sextiles Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for six hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio in the early morning hours of Tuesday. This day can have us in high gear, but we might find that our responsibilities and other people’s interests get in our way and force us to put our own personal interests on the back burner. Either we can whine about it, drag our feet or we can suck it up, deal with what needs to get done, even unexpected situations that might demand our attention, and just do it. Late in the day, things can straighten out and we might be complimented for what we have done for someone. We could also find that just as we helped someone else out, that person can return the favor by assisting us in figuring things out and developing the best template to move ahead with our own goals.

Tuesday, May 9th – Transformative Me – Sun, Pluto. Although the Moon enters Scorpio in the early morning hours, the Moon makes no connections to the planets today. We do have the Sun trine Pluto. While there might not be a great deal of energy today to move mountains, there is some excellent energy for us to conceptualize how we can move mountains. This Tuesday can be an internal day, a day when we are looking inward, realizing the strength of our character and also recognizing how much we have changed over these recent times. This is a day when we can actually ‘work smarter rather than harder’. We can cut to the bone, focus on the truly significant, all with an appreciation that we are increasingly getting more real with our lives with our focus truly being what is really significant for us. Let’s use this day as a day for self-accounting, looking at who we are, the depth of our being and consider what we truly want to achieve as far as our goals. The more we concentrate on the truly meaningful today, the better able we can do a significant Spring cleaning tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 10th – Ah-Ha Moments – Neptune, Pluto, Scorpio Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Uranus. Wednesday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today trine Neptune, the Moon sextile Pluto and the Moon opposed the Sun at the Full Moon, a Scorpio Full Moon in the Cancer decanate of Scorpio. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for nineteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius on Thursday. Mercury conjuncts Uranus, the third time this configuration has occurred since early Spring. Just as a gardener needs to till the soil before planting and then weeds the garden to rid the unwanted, so too does this day for us speak to cleaning up and clearing away the debris of our lives. Whether we actually engage or merely conceptualize, this Wednesday is a good day for us to strip away the unwanted, the useless and the outmoded in our lives. We can truly focus on what our true purpose of our activities and goals might be. We might also gain some startling insights, become aware of new possibilities and receive some interesting new information. Because the energy today can be ratcheted up, we also need to be aware that things can be fast and furious today. Let’s maintain vigilance, work with peripheral vision and keep our eyes and ears wide open. This Wednesday can be a fascinating day, but we might want to be impulsive and spontaneous to take advantage of surprising developments. On the downside, watch for computer glitches by repeatedly backing up your work, be careful of Internet problems, and travel smartly by driving defensively and adding on extra time to get from place to place.

Thursday, May 11th – Scratching our Knees – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Neptune, Mercury, Saturn. This Thursday is one of those days when we need to look before we leap, although the tendency might be the reverse with us leaping before we even consider the parameters of where we are jumping. The Moon continues to be Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Sagittarius today. The Moon in Sagittarius today makes no connections to the planets. What we do have on this Thursday is Mars square Neptune and Mercury trine Saturn. It would have been preferable for the former to be latter and the latter to be former, but it just doesn’t play that way today. The liability to impetuous actions cannot be discounted. We could get enamored by the image, appearance and bright sparkly things today and decide to put our attention on what seems fascinating to us. Such a disposition could prove a prescription for disaster. Acting without thinking, jumping at things without considering what is really going on can be our modus operandi today. Even if we scratch our knees or scrape them or trigger some sort of accident by being less than mindful, the later part of the day allows us to put things in perspective. We might have to take some remedial actions towards the end of the day, and let’s just hope that we haven’t hurt ourselves or created too much of a mess by leaping before looking. We can be a great deal clearer towards the end of the day and then better able to engage right action.

Friday, May 12th – Hurry Up And – Venus, Jupiter, Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Mars. Whether we stubbed our toes or averted calamities yesterday, Friday can have us fast out of the starting gate. The Sagittarius Moon today trines Venus, the Moon sextiles Jupiter, and the Moon triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Neptune and the Moon opposes Mars. Mars trines Jupiter. This is a day when we could be brimming with optimism. Not only are we confident of our own abilities. We might also find that we are being egged on by someone. It’s great to feel exuberant and expansive, but it would be wise for us to have a plan of action, a direction and itinerary. Otherwise, we could wind up just spinning our wheels. And that would be the caveat for this Friday. We might feel that we can do no wrong and that our attitude will carry us through and that everything will go right. Although confidence and intention are important ingredients for our success, this day demands that we also consider what to involve ourselves with. We need to be able to cut away interesting diversions and fascinating distractions in order for us to accomplish the more important projects. We could be overwhelmed by our ‘feel good’ attitude and take on more than humanly possible. Let’s channel our energies to those activities we truly care about and elicit more than moral support from our cheerleader[s] to accomplish our plans. Even our advocates need to have some skin in our game.

Saturday, May 13th – Up, Up and Away – Uranus, Saturn, Mercury. Saturday continues with the Sagittarius Moon with the Moon today trine Uranus and Mercury both in Aries, and the Moon conjunct Saturn. This Saturday is another one of those days when there can be push – pulls between what we want to do and what we have committed to do. Similar to last Saturday, we may have certain obligations planned sometime ago. Now that we are on that particular day, we might find our plans to be restrictive, clipping our wings, and more a responsibility than a fun engagement. While the sense of duty calls, let’s try and enjoy what we are scheduled for and add a little panache to our involvement. Let’s be certain to sprinkle in some ‘me’ time whereby we incorporate something different and exciting to the mix and not feel that our lives are merely constricted by promises and the familiar. This is a day when we can have our head in the clouds and our feet on the ground. We just don’t have to have our feet in a block of concrete. Let’s do what we have agreed to and be certain to add our own unique sparkle to the activity. We might find elements of our past stepping forward, a recapitulation and a walk down Memory Lane. And this is Mother’s Day weekend so there is a natural tendency to reflect on days past. We don’t have to get locked into the past memories, get moody or morose, but can build upon the memories to fast forward into our present and future goals.

Sunday, May 14th – To All the Mothers – Venus. Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day when we honor mother. Honors are one thing, memories another. Sometimes reflecting on our past brings up bad memories, some of which may have dissipated over time or on the contrary been exacerbated over time. This Sunday has the Capricorn Moon and towards the end of the day the Moon square Venus. Moon in Capricorn is in Detriment, being in the Sign opposite the Sign of Cancer that the Moon rules. The Moon is uncomfortable in Capricorn, and discomfort can be part of this day. We may have certain obligations today, and one might be paying obeisance to mom. Let’s remember that we owe mom a lot for bringing us into this world, so this day is an important day and a traditional day and one where we pay respect to mom and to all mothers. Although responsibility could be the focus of this day, let’s recognize and appreciate that this day is not all about us. The more we can step out of our own self-involvement and appreciate the gift mom gave us [LIFE], then we can embrace the attitude of honoring our mom, honoring our ancestors and in an indirect way we are honoring ourselves. Our relationship with mom may not always have been a bed of roses, but neither was it likely for her at all times. Let’s cut ourselves and our mom a great deal of slack. Happy Mother’s Day.
