The astrology for this week of March 13th through the 19th reinforces the sense of impending Spring. This is the last week of the winter season and with greater emphasis upon rebirth and renewal than on closure and completion.
The week begins with us looking for balance — balance in regard to our relationships, balance in regard to the varied areas of our life, balance in regard to our sense of who we have been and who we are in process of becoming. Yes, this week may have us walking the balance beam. There may be times when we seem quite adept at doing so, other times when we might feel we are about to fall.
If we can take things slowly, not jump to conclusions and avoid being harried or hurried by circumstances around us, then we can easily traverse the week.
As the week progresses, we may have the opportunity of selecting what we wish to engage and what we feel the need to be rid of. We can be guided by our internal sense of what works and what doesn’t. Let’s keep in mind that the more we eliminate, the more we create space for the new and the more attuned to enter our life. The universe hates a vacuum, but we might have to make room for the new by releasing elements of the past.
The weekend can begin early on Friday as we all embrace an Irish heritage in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Whether we have Irish blood in our ancestry or not, Friday has most of us engaging the celebrations for this day.
The weekend may have us traveling, whether literally or figuratively. We might want to get out of town, participate in unfamiliar activities in unfamiliar terrain. The weekend speaks to spreading our wings and enjoying the new and the different. We might not have time for completions and closures on the weekend, for we could be amping to expand our reach and enjoy the good things in life.
Goodbye winter, here comes Spring.
Monday, March 13th – Thoughts of Me – Venus, Mercury Aries. Monday begins the week with the Moon entering Libra, where today the Moon opposes Venus, which is transiting through Aries, a Sign of Detriment for Venus, where Venus is not comfortable. Mercury exits Pisces, a Sign of Detriment for Mercury where Mercury is not comfortable. Mercury enters Aries, triggering a Stellium of three planets in the Cardinal Fire Sign as Mercury joins Venus and Uranus in Aries. This is a day when we might feel conflicted about balancing our personal needs with someone else’s desires. Even if we want to make nice with everyone, we could be more focused on looking out for number 1, our self. We may speak our mind without due consideration to our audience or their receptivity to what we have to say. Although we can seem narcissistic and self-absorbed, it is important that we keep in mind that we are entering springtime next week and with it the promise of rebirth and renewal. It may not always be about ‘me’, but today is a day for us to focus on what we want and to try and smooth any ruffled feathers if someone objects to our taking care of ourselves before taking care of everyone else.
Tuesday, March 14th – Weighing the Scales – Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Jupiter, Uranus. If we had a dustup yesterday with someone who thought we were being self-centered, then this Tuesday may have us trying to make amends. Today the Libra Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Jupiter and the Moon square Pluto and the Moon opposed Uranus. There is a tendency in life, and often extreme in recent times, when the energy goes in one direction and then like a metronome flips into the opposite direction, all with the intention of finding a balance point. We see this energetic pattern in the Jewish mystical system of the Kabbalah with the zig-zag pattern of the Sephirot, the energy emanations that eventually find the middle pillar, also seen in Buddhism as ‘the middle way’. It plays to the concept of ‘moderation in all things’, a nice concept but also one that is lost in the hype of ‘grabbing for all the gusto’ that seems more endemic to present society. This Tuesday could have us putting our own personal interests on the back burner as we try to help someone out. We do have to be wary not to be manipulated by someone who might say that we owe them something, call in their I.O.U. chits or play the victim game that could be enticing to our savior complex. Encouraged by someone, we might even involve ourselves in decisions and actions that have profound long-term negative ramifications. While we could jump easily and quickly into situations today, it would be wise for us to take the time to consider the implications of any initiations today and question what the long-term consequences may be, even the liability of unintended consequences.
Wednesday, March 15th – Ides of March – Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. This Wednesday begins with the Libra Moon sextile Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio, where today the Moon opposes Mars. We can start this day sorting things out, bringing certain matters to completion and clarifying some of the mishaps of the past two days. We may feel less pushed and pulled today, can take on a more serious and practical approach to situations and not be as swayed by our own or someone else’s emotions. As the day progresses, we might want some alone time to figure things out and are likely to be more secretive as to what is going on with us. While it would be more appropriate to pare down and cut away excesses that clog the arteries of our daily life, we might also find ourselves falling into a usual play for many where ‘when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping’. Let’s avoid soothing ourselves by going out and buying needless items just for the sense of giving to ourselves. This is a day for us to tie up loose ends, strip away the non-essential and not a day to add more stuff to our stuff.
Thursday, March 16th – All Knowing I – Neptune. The Moon continues its transit of Scorpio on this Thursday with the Moon trine Neptune today. This is a day when our intuitive sense may be as sharp as a tack. We might not reveal everything we see or feel, but it would be hard for anyone to put something over on us today. Our sensitivity is likely to be ratcheted up severalfold. We have a sense of things, an inner knowing that allows us to see what is really going on, no matter the appearance, the presentation or the spin. This is a day when we could prefer spending some alone time, giving ourselves the opportunity of withdrawing from the hectic pace of life to enjoy that safe happy place we find in our imagination. This Thursday can be a highly spiritual day and a time when we feed our soul. If we choose to be involved with other people today, we could prove of great assistance in dealing with someone’s emotional dramas. We just have to be wary not to get so involved with their issues that we take them on as our own. Let’s keep in mind the wise adage: ‘Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime’. It is inappropriate for us to take away someone else’s karma, but we can provide emotional support and a detached perspective as they wrangle with their own particular problems.
Friday, March 17th – Snakes Alive – Pluto, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn. Friday is St. Patrick’s Day and whether we have Irish ancestry in our blood or not, everyone is Irish on St. Patty’s Day. Friday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today sextile Pluto and the Moon trine the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius late in the day. The Sun squares Saturn. We might wish to engage social gatherings and today’s celebrations, but we could have outstanding matters to address before we start our weekend. We can feel torn by our responsibilities and our desire to start the weekend early with a leisurely lunch of corned beef, cabbage, boiled potato and a couple of pints of Guinness. If we can tie up loose ends early in the day, and we certainly have the incentive to do so, then we can enjoy the second half of the day to roll into our weekend. In the latter part of the day we might be exhausted by everything that has gone on, and we could feel a little out of sorts. Too many spirits imbibed? Let’s pace ourselves on this Friday, although this day ranks as one of the highest in the year for drunkenness. We can enjoy the festivities but it would be wise to keep in mind the admonition that ‘if we dance to the music, we’ve got to pay the piper.’
Saturday, March 18th – High Flying – Venus, Mercury, Neptune. Saturday has the Sagittarius Moon trine both Venus and Mercury both in Aries, and the Moon square Neptune. Mercury conjuncts Venus. We could be flying high on this Saturday, spreading our wings and searching the far reaches of terrain. This is a day for us to enjoy, to put our personal mark upon our activities and to be free of any constraints. We can be feeling good about ourselves. No parade rainers for us today. Either people are on the same page that we are or we are likely to go it alone. Such a disposition might make relationships slightly dicey, for everyone today could be looking out for themselves with little regard to its impact on other people. We are likely to be feeling upbeat and exuberant and in an explorative mood. If we have commitments already made, they will have to be events that we wish to engage. Otherwise, we could easily blow off any plans that do not speak to us and without giving much reason or rationale for our decision. People might not understand our actions today, but we’re not too concerned about people’s reactions. We want to be free of obligations and focus on our interests of the moment.
Sunday, March 19th – Goodbye Winter – Jupiter, Uranus. Sunday continues with the Sagittarius Moon with the Moon today sextile Jupiter and the Moon trine Uranus. Even if we stepped on someone’s toes yesterday by being too self-focused and doing our own thing even if we had made plans with someone else, Sunday allows us to make amends. Yesterday could have been all about our own personal wishes, even to the detriment of someone else. Yes, we could have been self-centered with little care as to how our actions impacted someone. Today, we are more interested in collaboration and more open to being receptive listeners, not that we don’t want to do what we might want to do. We still have a desire to try new things out today, but we are also willing to engage someone in our explorations and grand adventures. Flying solo yesterday might have been great fun, but today we are looking to share our joy and enthusiasm with other people. This is the last day of the Winter season, and already we are fully embracing the sense of rebirth and renewal that the season of Spring promises. Goodbye Winter.
