January 23rd – 29th, 2017

The astrology for this week of January 23rd through the 29th allows us to draw upon our intuitive sense and breadth of vision to consider the most effective and expeditious ways to initiate and realize our hopes and dreams under the influence of the Aquarius New Moon at the end of the week and the beginning of the Chinese New Year, this year of the Red Fire Rooster.

As we start this week, our intuitive sense can be heightened, and we may be quite adept at saying the right thing at the right time to the right person. Even if we have been perplexed by a situation, the energies could provide us a certain knowing and understanding as to how we can best resolve the situation. This is a great time for devising our strategies and providing an emotional appeal regarding our projects and our intentions.

Mid-week helps us focus our goals, expand our interests and deal with outstanding matters that we would prefer to conclude than continue. Prior to the New Moon at the end of this week, it would be wise for us to deal with the template of our goals, consider the details and address any clutter that could trip us up as we progress into new trajectories.

The New Moon at the end of the week provides fodder to some of the options and alternatives we might have considered. We are looking to engage greater autonomy in our lives and shed those involvements that may have served a purpose to us in the past but could be holding us back in the present and even more so into the future. We might feel held back by past connections or obligations we feel to someone, so let’s be aware of the push-pulls between whom we have been and who we are looking to become.

This New Moon also represents the Chinese New Year and this Chinese New Year is the year of the Red Fire Rooster. First impressions will be significant, and it would be wise that we look our best and put our best foot forward. It will be important to keep on our toes, for challenges will demand quick decisions and practical solutions. This year portends a year of hard work and patience in order to come to successful achievement.

Over the weekend, Mars exits Pisces to enter its own Sign of Aries and Mercury conjuncts Pluto. We may have more determination and a greater sense of physical strength and stamina to pursue our personal interests. With the ability to penetrate whatever is going on and get to the heart of any matter, this end of January can be a time when we might be highly astute and have the self-confidence to advance some of our more meaningful activities.

The week offers us the opportunity of closure to elements of our past while embracing new interests with a passion and determination that blends both brain and brawn.

Monday, January 23rd – What It Was Is Not What It Is – Neptune, Uranus, Venus, Mercury. Monday begins the week with the Sagittarius Moon square Neptune and Venus both in Pisces and the Moon trine Uranus. Mercury sextiles Neptune. Monday suggests that we not jump to conclusions or react to situations. We could be setting ourselves up to create situations that allow us to step away and do our own thing but at the expense of creating misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Our intuitive sense can be heightened, so it would be wise for us to consider our decisions, our actions and the ramifications of anything we choose to do before we set things into motion. Rather than going about banging and crashing impulsively, we can easily slip through any noose by being astute and adept at navigating the currents. This is a day for us to strategize based upon our sense of things and not merely the empirical indications. We can do what we want to do without creating a fuss or a furor. Besides, people may be so busy with their own matters that they might not even notice if we slip out the back door in order to do our own thing.

Tuesday, January 24th – Boomerang – Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course. We can be in an expansive mood as we start this day, looking to stretch our wings and soar where no one has gone before. We start the day with the Sagittarius Moon sextile Jupiter. Our conversations can be glib and upbeat. We can spin tall tales and entice someone with our hype. But our hype is something that we consider to be within the realm of possibility no matter how impractical it might actually seem. The day then has the Moon conjunct Saturn and the Moon square Mars. Much of our spin of the way things could be might fall apart under critical evaluation and as we try to implement our intentions. Old issues may hamstring us, and we have to be wary that we’re not trying to do too much too fast and without the necessary components. We may be trying to accomplish our new projects with the encouragement of someone but possibly also only with a wing and a prayer. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn later in the day. Whether our best intentions have crashed and burned or we have been able to skip a fiery inferno, we get a little more practical as the day proceeds.

Wednesday, January 25th – All the Right Pieces – Neptune, Mercury. We might have been a little flakey over the past two days, caroming between optimism and anxiety, and at times disengaged from reality. Wednesday finds us more focused, more grounded and concentrating on our responsibilities and long-term goals. The Capricorn Moon today sextiles Neptune and the Moon conjuncts Mercury. Our mind is sharp and we can find all the right pieces to fit neatly into the puzzle of our long-term goals. Not only can we see things in a clear manner, but we could also present things in a most appealing manner. Today provides a blend of foresight and practical application. If we take the time to consider what we are looking to create, we might find that all the necessary ingredients come together. This is a day when gentleness can prove more effective than brute force. We just need to keep our antennae up, listen to our inner voice and allow our thoughts and feelings create the appropriate template to achieve our ambitions. We can explain to other people our vision and our ways of accomplishing our intended plans. This Wednesday is a highly productive day, which is more successful by our being at ease rather than by our being in stress.

Thursday, January 26th – Here, There, Everywhere – Venus, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter. Thursday is the dark side of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon. We may be champing to get on with things today. The Capricorn Moon sextiles Venus and the Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Pluto and the Moon square Uranus in Aries and the Moon square Jupiter in Libra. While initiation could be in the forefront of our mind, let’s keep in mind that the waning Moon is far better for bringing things to closure, eliminating the outmoded and getting rid of stuff. The waxing Moon is better for beginnings and starting things, for letting things grow and developing our plans. We can use this day to concentrate on the truly significant activities we wish to engage and develop over the next few weeks and the year ahead. We might have some push pulls in regard to what we want to do and what someone wants us to participate in. This is a day to sort through all possibilities and prioritize the most meaningful.

Friday, January 27th – Future is Now – Mars, Aquarius New Moon, Sun, Venus, Saturn. The Capricorn Moon today sextiles Mars just prior to the Moon exiting Capricorn to enter Aquarius and a day before Mars exits Pisces to enter its own Sign of Aries. The Moon then moves into Aquarius and the Aquarius New Moon occurs late in the day with the Moon conjunct the Sun. Venus squares Saturn. We might be more focused on stepping off the ledge, ready to fly into new realms today. Let’s be certain that we have our navigational maps and fuel in the engine before we take off. If we have any outstanding debts to someone, that person could call them in today. This is a day when we might want to unencumber ourselves from past issues and people more reflective of our past before we fully engage our future. Surprise, the future is NOW. We might have one foot in the familiar all the while that we are stretching towards new prospects and new possibilities. This New Moon is certainly in alignment with the new beginnings that this one-year of a nine-year cycle represents. We are looking towards the far horizon, even if the past continues to nip at our heels. Let’s not feel blocked by our responsibilities and obligations. Let’s embrace our options and alternatives and the various ways by which we can be more autonomous, independent and free.

Saturday, January 28th – Fire Red Rooster – Uranus, Jupiter, Mars Aries. Marked by last evening’s, this morning’s New Moon, this is the Chinese New Year of the Fire Red Rooster. The Aquarius Moon today sextiles Uranus and the Moon trines Jupiter. Mars exits Pisces, ending the Stellium of three planets in the Mutable Water Sign. Mars enters Aries, the Cardinal Fire Sign and the Sign Mars rules. Our energy can be ratcheted up and we may feel ready to take machete in hand and carve our own pathway. Even though we have been walking our own pathway on this journey of our own life, we could feel energized and prepared to take trajectories away from where we have been headed and traipse into new directions, new trajectories. Although we might want to take giant steps and major leaps, let’s keep in mind that the Rooster calls for patience, persistence and determination. Nothing may come easily but if we stay focused and attentive we can know that success will eventually come our way. Today is a celebration, a celebration of the New Year, a celebration of our increased passion and a celebration of the friends in our life.

Sunday, January 29th – Quiet, Still and Deep – Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Pluto. Sunday begins with the Aquarius Moon sextile Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over ten hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Pisces. Mercury conjuncts Pluto. Sunday allows us to slow things down, take a contemplative approach and cut to the core of any situation. We might put the finishing touches on certain projects, but much of the day can be spent in quiet reflection. Our mind can be incisive. We can figure the best means to achieve our goals. We could also be slightly intense in our discussions with other people but with an ability to bring forth the most salient points in a forceful and compelling manner. Communications can be serious, but let’s not make them snarky. This is not a day when anyone can pull wool over someone else’s eyes. Sunday is a great day to plan and strategize and concentrate on the key elements with the talent to present them in a most appealing manner.
