November 14th – 20th, 2016

With the Super Full Moon to start the astrology this week of November 14th through the 20th of 2016, the energy can continue to be rather intense in this week after the US elections.

The week begins with the Taurus Full Moon, a Super Moon that has the Full Moon closest to the earth and a Full Moon that seems the largest since January of 1948. We all know how the Full Moon impacts people, and not just the werewolves and lunatics among us. We are all impacted by the lunar tides with various physiological and psychological influences.

Welcome to this week.

There can be a great deal of talk early in the week. Hopefully, some of the vitriol expressed regarding the US Presidential election can be toned down and people could be more willing to take a wait and see attitude before rushing to judgment.

I often remind myself of the following Taoist story:

There was an old man with a small farm in China many years ago. He had one son, who did most of the work on the farm and a neighbor, himself old with a son.

One day the old man’s horse ran off, and the neighbor, seeing this, said, “how terrible, your horse has run off, now work on your farm will be so difficult.”

To this the old man replied, “maybe good, maybe bad, we’ll see.”

The next day the old man’s horse returned leading a group of wild horses, and the neighbor, seeing this, said, “how wonderful! You have many horses, now you have great wealth and may live easily.”

To this the old man replied, “maybe good, maybe bad, we’ll see.”

The next day the old man’s son was thrown from one of the wild horses and broke his leg, and the neighbor, seeing this, said, “how terrible, your son has broken his leg, now your work will be doubled as nurse and farmer.”

To this the old man replied, “maybe good, maybe bad, we’ll see.”

The next day the king’s men came to the farms seeking all able men to fight a distant battle, and the neighbor, sobbing as his son marched off, said “how fortunate you are for having an injured son, mine will surely perish.”

To this the old man replied, “maybe good, maybe bad, we’ll see.”

While those of us in the US have just experienced a major upset in presidential politics with the win of Donald Trump and the loss of Hillary Clinton, knee-jerk reactions might be premature and could indicate both a lack of tolerance and a liability towards making decisions before the evidence is fully in.

The push pulls between the familiar and the unknown, between the past and the future, could engage our thoughts and our discussions this week. It would be wise to avoid our emotions ruling our reason. Like life itself, this week asks us to find the balance, even if we have to go through various extremes to find the balance point.

Finding sanctuary in our safe space, in our home, with less input from the outside world might be a prescription to be far from the madding crowd.

We might seek out fun events and creative pursuits over the weekend. Much of the extremes of the week can die down over the weekend as we engage our own activities and find our avenues of enjoyment.

Monday, November 14th – Super Duper – Taurus Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday starts the week with the Super Moon with the Full Moon closest to the earth since January 1948. This Taurus Full Moon completes the two-week cycle that began with the Scorpio New Moon on October 30th. The Taurus Moon opposes the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for eleven and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini late on Monday night. This day can provide quite a crescendo of emotions and feelings. We may be aware that we have come to certain endings, completions and finalities. We might question our security and what the future structures are likely to be like. Although we can be highly emotional, it would be suggested that we maintain a certain detachment. This is a time for us to consider our goals and ambitions, inventory our resources and those interests we might choose to divest, and be focused on what is truly essential in our lives, what gives our lives greater meaning and provides us with a sense of true purpose.

Tuesday, November 15th – Nobody’s Right If Everybody’s Wrong – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, Lunar Grand Trine, Mars, Jupiter. Tuesday can be a highly paradoxical day, and how we choose to play it will ultimately be up to us — our choice. The Gemini Moon today triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon square Neptune and the Moon opposed both Mercury and Saturn. Interspersed with the influence of the T-Square, the Moon also triggers an Air Grand Trine with the Moon trine Mars in Aquarius and the Moon trine Jupiter in Libra. Mercury sextiles Mars. There can be a great deal of talk today, and the interesting thing about the day is that not everybody is likely to be on the same page. Some people may be looking in the rear view mirror and seeing what has been as supposed to be also what is coming up in front of them. Other people might see options and alternatives that weren’t available to them previously. No matter what our perspective could be, it would be difficult to convince anyone who is seeing things a different way as to the validity of our perspective. Discussions can turn vehement with people looking to prove their point and the ‘rightness’ of their opinion. Let’s try to avoid arguments today, recognize that everyone could be a little stuck in their own opinion, and just appreciate the camaraderie of friends. There can be a whirlwind of activity and discussions today that might leave us exhausted at the end of it. If we choose to enjoy the options and alternatives and the possibilities we could end the day elated.

Wednesday, November 16th – World of Possibilities – Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday and Tuesday could have been fairly draining, emotionally and physically exhausting. And the end result of all the commotion? We might decide to step away from it all, and this Wednesday offers us the opportunity to do so. The day begins with the Gemini Moon sextile Uranus. Even if we have to attend to routine tasks, we may choose to go through the motions but with our mind’s eye focused on a ‘mental health’ day. If we can do things on a spontaneous level today, even if only brief interludes, we are likely to do so. We are far more interested in new directions, new trajectories, than same old, same old. There is not a great deal of energy today, for after the Moon sextiles Uranus early in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for fourteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer late in the day. This is a day for us, either physically or mentally or both, to ramble around in the world of possibilities. We might want to keep our antennae up, work with peripheral vision, for we might also encounter those mini-miracles whereby things happen in a most unexpected and exciting manner. We could be privy to some fascinating surprises today. Let’s keep in mind that we are in a paradigm shift, moving from sequential, linear reality into an altered dimension of asequential reality where so-called miracles and magic are commonplace.

Thursday, November 17th – Straighten Up and Fly right – Neptune, Lunar T-Square, Venus, Jupiter, Pluto. Thursday has the Moon in Cancer with the Moon trine Neptune and the Moon triggering a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Jupiter and the Moon opposes both Venus and Pluto. Although Wednesday is often considered ‘hump day’ coming as it does in the middle of the workweek, yesterday might have been a ‘get out of our stuff’ day, as we might have taken time to do things on the fly, spontaneously with a focus on alternatives rather than the mundane. As if having gotten a second wind and possibly greater distance and consequently greater detachment from the US election results, we could find ourselves fine-tuning our goals and catching up with friends. Our intuitive sense might be heightened, and we could know all the right moves today. We could be highly active dealing with things around our home, attending to our projects and engaging that special person or those special people in our lives. I was always taught to avoid talking religion or politics. Unfortunately, my commentary about the election on the day after was met with thanks and with stinging criticism. I thought my posting was innocuous, but not for some people. If we can put the elections behind us and instead concentrate on our personal ambitions and our special connections with certain people, this day can be a productive and pleasant day. Would we want it any other way?

Friday, November 18th – Misunderstandings and Miscommunications – Uranus, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Neptune. Friday has the Cancer Moon square Uranus and the Moon trine the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours late in the day with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo in the evening hours. Mercury squares Neptune. Our sensitivity can be heightened on this Friday, and we might easily misunderstand what someone is telling us. This is a day to avoid jumping to conclusions, for we might not have gotten information correct. If we are traveling today, and please recognize that a good number of people could be traveling since this weekend bookends the US Thanksgiving holiday next Thursday, then we might want to add on extra time getting to and from wherever we are traveling. Things can take longer today than we might like. We could even find ourselves like wrong way Corrigan just heading off in the wrong direction or taking circuitous routes to get to wherever we are going. The evening promises a fun and enjoyable weekend.

Saturday, November 19th – Good Times, Good Connections – Mars, Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Neptune direct. Saturday has the Leo Moon opposed Mars and the Moon trine Mercury. Venus sextiles Neptune and Neptune turns direct. Saturday can be especially pleasant if we coordinate our plans with those people we are spending some time with today. Let’s try to be on the same page with other people today. Any misunderstandings yesterday can be clarified today. It would be wise to keep our planned activities manageable. We might assume that we could do any number of things on this Saturday, but being selective and focusing on the most idyllic events with a special someone or special people can add sparkle and great enjoyment to this Saturday. This weekend is best for creative endeavors, pleasurable engagements and good company. Even if we have had our differences with someone, today allows us to see the radiance and beauty emanating from their soul.

Sunday, November 20th – Brand New Day – Jupiter, Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Uranus. This is the last full day of the Sun’s transit of Scorpio and before the Sun enters Sagittarius tomorrow. As a prelude, this Sunday is a fiery, primo day of good cheer and good sports. The Leo Moon today sextiles Jupiter and the Moon triggers a Fire Grand Trine as the Moon trines Saturn and the Moon trines Uranus. Other people can add some lightheartendess to this day, and we could combine both the past and the future into the NOW. The election that got many of us riled up can seem like a distant memory. We might be more focused on our personal life than the world-at-large. We may see how we can draw upon our experience to carve new paths for ourselves. Everything can come together on this Sunday, and we might be feeling at the top of our game. We may realize that there’s no need to ‘throw the baby out with the bath water’ and start totally anew and fresh. On the contrary, we can draw upon the positive attributes of the past as a foundation for us to explore new trajectories. Someone could prove helpful in being a trusted sounding board and advocate for us to take new directions without losing what we have already created.
