October 10th – 16th, 2016

The astrology this week starts off pleasantly enough but might tend to go downhill towards the end of the week with a nasty crescendo at the Full Moon over the weekend.

The week starts with holidays celebrated in Canada with Thanksgiving and in the US with what used to be referred to as Columbus Day but in more politically correct circles is now known as Indigenous People’s Day. Under whatever guise and however one chooses to express it, the week begins in North America in holiday mode.

We may be feeling good about things at the beginning of the week, especially if we surround ourselves with those people with whom we belong to a Mutual Admiration Society. No complainers or whiners for us, only ‘yes’ people who agree with our opinions and applaud our perspective. We might all be suffering from a slight contagion of narcissism with an appreciation that life is grand.

While we can be immersed in the lofty prospects of the ‘what could be’ early in the week, our heady sense of things can shift with a concern or anxiety that our upbeat attitude is a mask or a veil to what might really be going on.

Mid-week and towards the end of the week we could feel prey to fears and assumptions that not everyone is truly believing our story or buying into our perceptions of how the world is and how the world should be.

Should we encounter anyone pulling back the curtain to the Wizard of Oz screen, our irritation could grow into annoyance and even vehemence. Discussion can then turn into arguments, even as we stand firm to our beliefs, evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

The weekend might prove intense with people reading each other the riot act. The end of the weekend may have us buying into the slogan ‘when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.’

Monday, October 10th – Everything Is Beautiful – Mercury, Jupiter. Monday is Thanksgiving Day in Canada and Columbus Day in the US, although the term for the US holiday in politically correct circles is now Indigenous People’s Day. For some people, today is the last day of the long autumn holiday weekend, and what a day this can be. The Moon enters Aquarius where today the Moon trines Mercury and trines Jupiter both in Libra. Tomorrow provides us with Mercury conjunct Jupiter. We are likely to feel upbeat today, focused on catching up with friends and considering more our future than our present. Our prospects may seem exciting and exhilarating, and it would be hard to find anyone in a severely bad mood on this wondrous day. To engage in such an attitude, we might have to look more at the far horizon than what is going on under our feet or our present reality. We are not looking for any parade rainers, only those people with whom we can engage a mutual admiration. Today is a day when we could be seeing the half glass of water as half full rather than half empty and perceive that not only everything works out in the end but also that everything is beautiful… in its own way.

Tuesday, October 11th – Another Notch on the Belt – Saturn, Sun, Venus, Uranus, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Neptune. Tuesday continues with the Aquarius Moon with the Moon today sextile Saturn, the Moon trine the Sun, the Moon square Venus and the Moon sextile Uranus. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter, and Mars sextiles Neptune. Monday and Tuesday seem energetically the best days of this week. We are likely to feel upbeat, inspired and enjoying the company of that special person or those special people in our lives. For me, it’s my birthday, and I do like the energy configurations today that imprint my year ahead. In astrology the solar return, when the sun returns to its natal position, gives an imprint for the year ahead. Not only can we be optimistic and confident today regarding our future plans, but we can also put spirit into action. This is a day when we can draw upon insights and our intuitive sense to make all the right moves. We might have a tendency to overdo today or else we could fall back and question whether we have the resources to proceed into new directions. Let’s not be stingy with ourselves today for, even if we are, we might find that someone pulls us out of our protective shell and forces us to see the sun shining, even if there are only sun breaks behind the clouds. With the upbeat energy and the support of those people who advocate for us, Monday and Tuesday can be primo days, days which impel us to look to the horizons of our future and not get stuck in our past or blocked by our present.

Wednesday, October 12th – Waiting for Godot. The Moon moves into Pisces on this Wednesday but the Moon makes no aspects to the planets today. There is not a great deal of energy on this Wednesday. We could go through various mood swings, for our emotions are likely to be heightened. Coming off Monday and Tuesday that might have had us with a spring in our step and a broad smile across our face, Wednesday could have us wondering, even questioning, where we go from here. We might feel slightly deflated, our expectations of things coming together frustrated and a sense of waiting for the shoe to drop. While there is not a great deal of energy, let’s maintain mindfulness with the recognition that our imagination can be strong today. Working with creative visualization, enlisting prayer and good thoughts are like planting seeds in the seedbeds of our mind. Let’s try and concentrate on the positive. If negative thoughts intrude, let’s cry out to ourselves: ‘devil, get thee behind me’. It’s important we understand that during this time of paradigm shift, a time when we are moving from linear, sequential reality into the asequential reality of things happening in a random almost magical way with mini-miracles all around, that much of our free will is the use of choice of attitude. If we obsess on the negative, we are likely to draw negative experiences to us. Focus on the positive and we might find that good things are happening. This Wednesday can provide us the opportunity of disciplining our mind and determining what attitude we may embrace.

Thursday, October 13th – Irritations and Annoyances – Neptune, Mars, Saturn, Pluto, Mercury. Thursday has the Pisces Moon conjunct Neptune, the Moon sextile Mars, the Moon square Saturn and the Moon sextile Pluto. Mercury squares Mars. Our moods can continue to be whipsaws. When we are tending to projects that empassion us and that we enjoy, we could feel as though we can move mountains. Outstanding matters and responsibilities may demand our attention today, and we might have to put some of our projects on the back burner to address pressing needs. If someone questions what we are doing and how we are doing it, we could find their intrusion unwanted. No matter how they present their critique, and it could be with all sorts of reasonable explanations and solid suggestions, we are not in the mood for being questioned. We could get irritable at their annoyances and friendly discussion could turn into vehement arguments. We might stand our ground and find their suggestions to be a personal affront. Let’s count to ten before responding to other people’s input today and not personalize what people might be saying to us.

Friday, October 14th – Getting a Grip – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn. The day begins with the Pisces Moon trine Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost eight hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries where today the Moon opposes Jupiter. Mercury sextiles Saturn. The past two days we might have been overly sensitive with a liability to looking at any other viewpoints or someone’s suggestion as a personal affront. Interactions with other people could have been testy with us tending to react in an emotional manner even to the point of defending our position as though fighting for our life. We are less likely to feel in victim mode on this Friday, and we can clear the air today. While we might have been overly self-protective the past two days, we are feeling better about ourselves today and can express our interests in a rationale and well-considered manner. If there were dust-ups with other people, this Friday allows us to sort things out and clarify situations in which we are involved. We have greater self-confidence, more of a willingness to engage our personal interests, whether people agree with us or not, and able to stand firm as an individual. We might initiate new projects today, take different trajectories from our usual pattern and fully embrace the sense of ‘I gotta be me’.

Saturday, October 15th – Hell Hath No Fury – Lunar T-Square, Mars, Saturn, Mercury, Pluto, Uranus, Sun. This Saturday can be one intense day — frantic and frenetic may be running the show. The Aries Moon today triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Uranus, the Moon opposed Mercury and the Moon square Mars and square Pluto both in Capricorn. The Moon trines Saturn. The Sun opposes Uranus, and Mercury squares Pluto. Late on Saturday, early Sunday we have the Aries Full Moon. This Saturday can have us acting as a rebel, whether with cause or without cause. Wanting to accentuate our individuality, we could be doing things differently, experimenting with new projects or new activities, and quite possibility willing to participate in Extreme Living. This could be one of those apples and oranges days, a day when somebody wants apples and we say oranges. Then if they say oranges, we say apples. We need to avoid confrontations or adversarial engagements, for the tendency could be for us to emphasize our individuality and embrace our freedom at all costs. Needless to say, such an attitude could be like chalk on a blackboard, scraping the nerves and feelings of people with whom we do the dance. This Saturday demands that we cut everyone, including ourselves, a great deal of slack. People may have a chip on their shoulder and egging on people to knock it off. Why go there? Let’s knock off any intense discussions and extreme actions. The liability of such engagements can only harm relationships and cause damage that could be irretrievable.

Sunday, October 16th – Crescendo – Aries Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Late on Saturday, early on Sunday, we have the Aries Full Moon with the Moon in Aries opposed the Sun in Libra. After the Full Moon, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for ten and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus where today the Moon makes no connections to the planets. The Full Moon brings a crescendo to the two-week period from the New Moon back on the 30th of September. Yesterday could have been highly intense with all sorts of energy flying around. Our desire to be autonomous, to be free, to do our own thing and to stand tall as an individual might have created some real problems with our interactions with other people. Our relationships could have been under severe strain as everyone embraced a good severe dose of narcissism whereby everything was seen as ‘all about me’. While we all want to determine our life’s course, it is not essential that we trod on other people’s toes to do so. The latter part of this week could have had people on edge, feeling victims to circumstance and wanting to strike out at anyone and everyone. This liability could have reached its peak yesterday, and this Sunday allows us to shift the energy. We might become far more tactful and more appreciative as to where other people are coming from. If we have been flummoxed by the past few days, Sunday might be a good day to go shopping and indulge ourselves.
