August 1st – 7th, 2016

The Astrology this week accentuates spreading our wings and flying away whether we take our trip literally or figuratively.

There can be an interesting blend of old and new as we start the week. We are interested in new trajectories, new connections, but we don’t want to give up secure situations and firm foundations. We have worked too hard to get to where we are to put all our chips on the roll of the dice. No, we may be looking at expanding our projects and our activities, even willing to step off the track and experience new surroundings, but we are not considering a clean sweep of various matters from our life.

The Leo New Moon on Tuesday heightens our creative juices and a willingness to go where we might not have gone before. With Mars exiting its own Sign of Scorpio to enter Sagittarius and the New Moon being in the Sagittarian decanate of Leo, we have a thrust of energy, confidence and optimism to ride for the next fortnight.

This week also ends the two week blitz in the US of first the Republicans then the Democrats parading around, making a great deal of noise, offering various promises of better days ahead but also whining and complaining about the other party. Now these two major parties take on their road show until the final crescendo on November 8th, Election Day. Let’s just hope that these campaigns don’t rival the best or worst of horror shows.

This week is the first week of August, the month traditionally associated with summer holidays. This may no longer be the case with back-to-school sales and even preparations for school orientations and school openings in mid-August, but traditionally August has been the month for summer vacation. In Paris and other European cities, it is still largely the case with various shops and small businesses closing for their summer vacation.

While the first part of the week can have us grabbing for the summer gusto of good times, the latter part of the week may have our regular routines beckoning.

Venus exits Leo to enter Virgo on Friday creating a Stellium in the Mutable Earth Sign as Venus joins Jupiter and Mercury in the Mercury-ruled Sign of Virgo. Even if we are off on a summer vacay, we could hear the distant calls of our regular routine coming down the tracks.

And with the Stellium in Virgo also heightening the Mutable Sign T-Square of the Virgo planets opposed to Neptune in Pisces and square Saturn in Sagittarius, the weekend with Mercury triggering the T-Square could be topsy-turvy with various push-pulls going on. Discussions can be heated, and we might feel as though we are in a no-win situation with someone. Let’s avoid rash judgments or immediate responses since our clarity may be lacking. We might feel as though we are caught in a whirlwind without knowing the right direction or right engagements. This weekend might not be the most comfortable, and we could find ourselves forced to deal with outstanding matters that impose upon our down time.

The week is a paradox with some great uplifting energies to begin the week, but with intense interactions as we end the week. Welcome to life on the earth plane in the twenty-first century.

Monday, August 1st – Strange Encounters – Jupiter, Uranus, Mars, Venus, Sun, Saturn. Monday is the first day of August, and the month might start off in some rather peculiar ways. The Cancer Moon sextiles Jupiter, the Moon squares Uranus and the Moon trines Mars. Venus trines Uranus and the Sun trines Saturn. We may have our schedule arranged for this Monday and our plans for the week already in mind. We could start off with our itinerary in hand until unexpected contacts disrupt our intended plans. We might be made aware of something that grabs our interest, speaks to our desire for doing something new and different, and we could find ourselves steering away from the schedule we had previously conceived. This is a day for us to be open to fascinating surprises. We do not have to jump into anything, but we could find expeditious means by which we can attend to what we need to get done yet also take advantage of situations that arise without notice. This day can reveal a sense of magic and mystery and may re-enforce the notion that we are no longer solely in control of our lives but that our lives can be deeply impacted by the mini-miracles of these times.

Tuesday, August 2nd – Reach Beyond – Saturn, Leo New Moon, Sun, Mars Sagittarius. Tuesday has the Leo Moon trine Saturn and the Moon conjunct the Sun at the time of the New Moon. Mars exits its own Sign of Scorpio to enter Sagittarius. This Leo New Moon is in the Sagittarius decanate of Leo. Yesterday might have provided some unexpected contacts, news or connections that impel us to do a stretch and reach beyond our usual parameters. That initial inkling of new possibilities may be further ignited today and over the next two weeks. We might be feeling more optimistic and confident and willing to expand our involvements. We can broaden our reach and may do so either by our actual travels to distant lands or through our imagination as we consider how to increase our operations and incorporate new aspects or dimensions to our lives. We may be looking to spice things up and add some interesting new facets to our everyday living.

Wednesday, August 3rd – Good Things Come to Those Who Wait – Uranus. The first two days of this week may have put us into something of an inspired mood and revved our engines to get things moving. Our creative juices may be flowing and we might be seeking the right format in which to express our talents. This Wednesday has the Leo Moon trine Uranus. We may have been aware of unexpected incidents occurring Monday, which might have lit a fire under us yesterday. Our confidence, optimism and enthusiasm could have been restored and engaged. In the process, we may have assumed the old societal mindset that we were the ones to make things happen, that we alone are the masters of our lives, the creators and sole arbiters of how things progress. And if we went there, we would have fallen back into the old paradigm, the linear, sequential paradigm that falsely presumed human control over matter. Have we not been witness to magic and mini-miracles in our own lives? Did we not experience times when things occurred in a most implausible manner, in a way that defied our interpretation, explanation or understanding? Such surprising situations could have occurred as recently as Monday where we might have found ourselves being in the right place at the right time for some incredibly serendipitous event to occur. If we fell into the old mindset, then we might have tried to manipulate, control and determine the course of events from this marvelous, albeit illogical, incident. The energy today is not as geared up as yesterday or Monday. Even though the day might seem quieter than the past two days, in that quiet we could experience a new trajectory, a new project, a new interest that captures our fancy, speaks to us and somehow magically appears in our mind’s eye. Today allows us to see the asequential reality of these times if we would be open, keep our antennae up and work with peripheral vision. As the proverb states, and evidenced ever more so during this paradigm shift, ‘good things come to those who wait’.

Thursday, August 4th – Back At It – Venus, Mars, Mercury, Saturn. The first three days of this week may have seemed magical, inspiring and uplifting. We might have gotten back our mojo. Thursday begins in the same way with the Leo Moon conjunct Venus. The energy then shifts significantly, as the Moon enters Virgo and the Moon today conjuncts Mercury and the Moon squares both Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius. As if coming down from the mountaintop, we might feel as though we have much to do. Although our eyes might have been lifted to the skies and our spirit soaring with all sorts of possibilities that resonated to our very soul over the past three days, this Thursday can seem like a slap down and offers a view into all the significant details that go into realizing our larger vision and our desire to expand our involvements and express our creative voice. We could have various push-pulls associated with our daily existence that dampen our enthusiasm and force our attention to our usual mundane realities. If we don’t jump ahead of ourselves and are willing to focus on what needs to get done, then we can avoid glossing over things whereby we assume we have dealt with pressing matters but in truth have done so half-heartedly and in a haphazard manner. We might have felt enlivened earlier in the week, but this Thursday asks us to get back on track and deal with our responsibilities. Even if we are still on vacation, we might feel the ever-encroaching sense of autumn and returning to our regular routines.

Friday, August 5th – Pulling It Together – Neptune, Pluto, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus Virgo. Friday can be a day when we could accomplish a great deal. We continue with the Virgo Moon with the Moon today opposed Neptune, the Moon trine Pluto and the Moon conjunct Jupiter. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for thirteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Virgo and before the Moon enters Libra mid-day on Saturday. Venus exits Leo to enter Virgo and in doing so creates a Stellium of three planets in the Mutable Earth Sign as Venus joins Mercury and Jupiter in Virgo. Even if we skipped over important details yesterday as a result of consciously or subconsciously resenting the fact that our good times were being impeded by our obligations, Friday allows us to attend to the tasks at hand in a highly productive and expeditious manner. We could come up with a best practices approach today, draw upon our intuitive sense and prioritize our activities to get more done in a shorter period of time than usual. We are assisted in our effectiveness with Venus exiting Leo to enter Virgo. With the heavy emphasis on the Virgo-transiting planets, we can concentrate on the details and the specifics. We do have to be wary that we ‘don’t lose sight of the forest for the trees’ as the old adage warns us. We might become too detail-focused that we start to micro-manage, look only at the particulars and lose sight of the bigger picture and what our long-term goals might be.

Saturday, August 6th – Misunderstood – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Venus. The weekend could prove to be something far removed from a walk in the park although a walk in the park might be suggested to clear the air and air out. The day begins with the Moon Void-of-Course with the Moon finishing its transit of Virgo without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Libra mid-day where today the Libra Moon sextiles Mars. Mercury triggers the Mutable Sign T-Square as Mercury squares Saturn today and Mercury opposes Neptune tomorrow. Venus squares Mars. Perhaps we are suffering from the whipsaw of this week, a time at the beginning of the week when life seemed like all fun and games and a time towards the end of the week when we might have felt the harness of our regular routine being imposed upon us. Whether we have children preparing for college orientation or younger children preparing for the school year or have no children in similar situations, we may all feel the pull of autumn with stores hawking their back-to-school sales or their autumn wardrobe sales. Even though we are still in the heart of the summer season, our consumer society is yanking us back into the regularity of our lives. We might even see Christmas decorations making their first appearance. It does seem ever more so that life is projected into the future rather than dealing with present realities. Seeing the increased frenetic energy could prove depressing and we do have to watch our moods this weekend for we might otherwise fall into a pit of despair wondering where the summer has gone and frustrated by plans conceived but liable not to have been carried out. We might seek to get together with people we haven’t seen for awhile as if it would prove a panacea. Interactions today could prove dicey, since we may have a chip on our shoulder whether we are aware of it or not and could tend to be hypercritical. It would be wise to take some ‘time outs’ this weekend and not get caught up in the furies.

Sunday, August 7th – Step By Step – Saturn, Pluto, Sun, Mercury, Neptune. Sunday continues with the Libra Moon with the Moon today sextile Saturn, the Moon square Pluto and the Moon sextile the Sun. Mercury continues triggering the Mutable Sign T-Square. Yesterday, Mercury squared Saturn, today Mercury opposes Neptune. We might choose to do something other than what we had planned or committed to for this Sunday. Getting out of town or visiting a special someone could be far preferable than dealing with home projects or pressing demands. If we can put off tomorrow what we had planned to do today, that would likely be our preference. We can be highly intuitive today, have remarkable foresight, but we also have to watch for being freaked out by the phantoms that sometimes rise up in our mind. We could easily get anxious today, but why go there? Let’s keep in mind the acronym for fear [false evidence appearing real]. Yesterday and today can trigger misunderstandings and misinterpretations. We could easily allow our moods to decipher what is going on. Unfortunately, our moods could be more on the downside than the upside. We began the week feeling optimistic, confident and exuberant. We end the week over the weekend anxious and concerned about situations that are not of our making and might have very little direct impact on our personal worlds.
