May 23rd – 29th, 2016

This week in the US is the run-up to the long Memorial Day holiday weekend and the unofficial start to the summer. We might be more interested in our holiday plans and summer vacations than taking care of business.

This week also encounters an astrological shift in energy with the Mutable Sign Grand Cross strengthening and the Earth Grand Trine weakening. Both are still in play and will continue to be through mid-June when the Earth Grand Trine ends and the Mutable Sign Grand Cross becomes further energized.

We may be juggling any number of things, and it would be wise for us to keep an eye on the ball, maintain practicality and utilize our time management abilities in order to be effective and productive as we pick up the pace.

The week begins with us looking for new outlets, different venues to explore and engage our autonomy and our freedom of self. Whether ‘spring fever’ or just tired of ‘same old, same old’, we may find ourselves diverted and distracted by situations that peak our curiosity and entice our interest.

Interactions with other people can be quick hits, for we might not want to linger in anything or with anyone for too long. We could prefer a fast kaleidoscope of events, activities and people to a slow drone of doing what we have done from time immemorial.

Even though we may be champing at the bit to take on more and investigate new possibilities, the mid-week period allows us to get our house in order, deal with our mundane responsibilities and accomplish a great deal before hanging out the ‘gone fishing’ sign for the weekend.

No matter what plans we have considered or made, we might find towards the end of the week that we cannot do it all. We may have to curtail our activities and pare down our intentions due to a lack of resources — whether time, money or energy.

The weekend is geared for indulgence. In the US, we are kicking off the unofficial start to the Summer, and we are interested in having a good time, indulging our appetites and living for today without giving thought to our tomorrows.

Monday, May 23rd – Off on a Lark – Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. We may have great intentions as we start the week, but our plans can fly out the window in favor of stretching our wings and doing whatever strikes our fancy. The week begins with the Sagittarius Moon trine Uranus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for fourteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn tomorrow. This is a day when we might look to initiate various projects that we put off over the past three weeks while Mercury was retrograde. Our interests are expansive and we are interested today in initiations rather than maintenance. With the impending long holiday weekend, some of us may choose to get out of town and take the week off. Whether we go or if we stay, we might be engaged in new activities rather than our responsibilities. We want the sense of freedom, the ability to do whatever we want whenever we want to do it. As the day proceeds, the energy can die down and we might focus our attention on putting our best foot forward and expressing ourselves in a dramatic manner with an individualistic style.

Tuesday, May 24th – Calling Far and Beyond – Venus, Mars, Venus Gemini. The Moon enters Capricorn today and continues to transit through Capricorn into Thursday morning. The Moon makes no connections to the planets today, but we are more likely to attend to what needs to get done with our tasks at hand and our long-term goals both in mind. Venus exits Taurus to enter Gemini, a Sign ruled by Mercury. We now have a Mutual Reception that accentuates Venus and Mercury, for Mercury is in Taurus, the Sign ruled by Venus, and Venus is now in Gemini, the Sign ruled by Mercury. Our sense of style can be impeccable and our communications charming and engaging. Where a problem might arise today is from the influence of Venus opposed Mars. Wanting to win adherents to our point of view, we might be a little too persuasive to the point of being overbearing. We may get so involved in what we want to say that we dismiss receptive listening and hardly hear what the other person has to say or how they are reacting to what we say. This is a day when we could make a number of phone calls, reach out to various people, but it would be suggested that we consider what we are going to say before ringing up for otherwise our discussions can be almost staccato-like without a meaningful thread running through our discussions. Things can ratchet up to a pitched fever, so it would be wise to keep a handle on our energy, our emotions and our thoughts.

Wednesday, May 25th – Nose to Grindstone – Neptune, Lunar Grand Trine, Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday can be a highly productive day and ever more so if we draw upon our intuitive sense and strategize our day before we head out the door. The Capricorn Moon sextiles Neptune and the Moon triggers the Earth Grand Trine with the Moon conjunct Pluto and the Moon trine Jupiter in Virgo and the Moon trine Mercury in Taurus. The Moon squares Uranus before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for thirteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius on Thursday. If we focus on what needs to be done, we can streamline our operations, figure out a best practices approach and go from one thing to another without missing a beat or allowing anything to fall between the cracks. We can accomplish a great deal today. We might not be able to do everything we want to do, may feel as though we are more in harness than freewheeling but this day provides the opportunity to address any number of matters and in a highly expeditious manner. We can have our nose to the grindstone today and get various issues out of the way in order to enjoy a long holiday weekend.

Thursday, May 26th – Starting Out Early – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Venus, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn. Thursday begins with the Capricorn Moon Void-of-Course with the Moon making no aspects to the planets today as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius. The Aquarius Moon sextiles Mars and the Moon trines both Venus and the Sun in Gemini. Jupiter squares Saturn. We might try to tie up loose ends early in the morning, but we may be more concerned about the upcoming holiday weekend. We could be planning all sorts of activities for the weekend and can even consider starting the weekend early. Whether we are going away or staying around town, this Thursday might have us more in ‘down time’ mode than accomplishing a great deal. We do have to be wary that we are not putting too much on our plate for the coming days, since we could easily overbook ourselves or find that we are spending more than would be wise. To clear the deck of outstanding matters we might be slipshod in our approach, glossing over details and not taking into account significant particulars. The whipsaw between responsibilities and social occasions could have us swinging with the tendency towards putting off today what we can do next week.

Friday, May 27th –There Even When Here – Saturn, Mercury, Mars Scorpio. Friday has the Aquarius Moon sextile Saturn and the Moon square Mercury. Mars retrogrades out of Sagittarius to go back into Scorpio, the Sign it co-rules with Pluto. Whether we have traveled, are traveling or just staying put for the weekend, for all intents and purposes this Friday is like ‘Elvis has left the building’. We may be absent while present, but our interests today have nothing to do with our usual tasks and responsibilities. We are living for the weekend and looking to extend this one as long as possible. This is a day when we may reconnect with old friends. We do have to watch for expenses since we could easily overspend all in the spirits of good living. If we plan to join the parade to the mountains, the lakes or the seashores today, it would be wise to add on extra time due to traffic or other travel delays. Short cuts today could prove only long runarounds.

Saturday, May 28th – Out of the Ordinary – Uranus, Mars. Saturday begins with the Aquarius Moon sextile Uranus. Late in the day, the Moon squares Mars prior to the Moon exiting Aquarius to enter Pisces. This is a day for us to look to unexpected incidents and random happenings. If we can let go of our preconceived notions and our tightly scheduled plans, then we can step into a wonderland of exciting incidents and serendipitous encounters. The main thing is for us to realize that we do not have to do it all or assume that we are in control of circumstances and conditions. On the contrary, magical events can occur when we are open to limitless possibilities, work with peripheral vision and allow ourselves ‘free’ time in which the so-called vacuum can be surprisingly filled. Saturday could be an extraordinary day with interesting connections and options that we might not have taken into account. By stepping off the track of our manufactured commitments, we might discover a new thrust to our lives, an infusion of thrills that invigorates us, and a day that provides us greater sustenance than what we may have imagined for ourselves. The latter part of the day could have us feeling like we have enjoyed too much of a good thing but unwilling to let the experience go. The night could provoke indulgences and stimuli that might leave us with a heavy hangover tomorrow morning.

Sunday, May 29th – Pay to the Piper – Lunar Grand Cross, Venus, Sun, Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto. Sunday could have us wondering what we did and how much of it we did yesterday. We might even be asking ourselves: What?! Sunday can have us all over the place thanks to the Pisces Moon triggering the Mutable Sign Grand Cross. The Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon squares Venus and squares the Sun both in Gemini, the Moon squares Saturn in Sagittarius, and the Moon opposes Jupiter in Virgo. Life has repercussions and so it is on this Sunday. We might feel forced to put a great deal in the hopper for our Sunday and in the process be juggling any number of things. This is a day when excess has no limitations. We could be fast out of the gate, wanting to grab all the gusto that this day could provide us. Clarity may not be our strong point today due to the sense of overwhelm or so many possibilities that we cannot decide on just one. This is a day when we could be going from one activity to another to another. Fortunately, this is a Sunday so our skimming over things may not have the same adverse effect that a workday might. The end of the day can be slightly more grounded as the Pisces Moon sextiles Mercury in Taurus and the Moon sextiles Pluto in Capricorn. Even if we are like a dog chasing its tail during much of this day, things settle down late in the day and we can straighten out any indulgences that might have been over the top.
