This is a week when we need to use due diligence in order to become aware of what is really going on. What we see may not be what we get. Vigilance and mindfulness are essential attributes for us to avoid getting snookered.
We are operating under the influences of the Mutable T-Square by Sign with the Jupiter in Virgo, Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. This energy configuration that began in autumn of last year and continues through the summer of this year has ratcheted up the volatility and increased the swings between irrational exuberance and overwrought despair. We certainly saw the swings this past week in the equity markets with a swing high, swing low, swing high, then swing low to end the market week. We might have experienced similar swings in our emotions, our moods, our feelings about our lives. We could have gone through swings of confidence and optimism only to find ourselves in the pit of anxiety and fearfulness.
Trying to maintain balance during these volatile times can be quite a stretch for us, and this week may challenge our ability to navigate the swirling currents of these times.
The week begins with us in an expansive mode. In the US, the week starts with a federal holiday. Some people may have the day off providing them with a long holiday weekend. We might be feeling good about ourselves, or at least trying to elicit such a sentiment. We could march forward wanting to take on more and assuming that our efforts will be richly rewarded.
Whatever the excuse, whether to appease the winter doldrums or a feeling of necessary purchases, some of us may decide to take advantage of sales and shopping opportunities to feather our nest, add to our wardrobe or get the essential items as an investment in the materials for our future goals.
As if the carousel of our lives is speeding up, we might try to take on more, do ever more, and find ourselves on overload.
The mid-week period sees the Sun transit out of Capricorn and into Aquarius. We may be more interested in our prospects than our realities. We could be enamored by our possibilities than our responsibilities. As the saying goes: ‘the grass may always seem greener’ somewhere other than where we stand.
While our focus can shift to future goals, we have to be wary of unexpected situations that could throw us for a loop. No matter what we conceive or what we hear from other people, we need to look beyond the veneer, scratch below the surface and truly consider what is going on. Appearance might be one thing, the substance of a matter something completely different.
If we don’t jump to conclusions or look to make immediate decisions, then we can take the time to consider as many facets of an issue as possible. Not all is likely to be revealed, but interesting and unexpected ‘ah-has’ could come forward that alter how we see something.
This is also the last full week of the Mercury retrograde. It would be wise for us to postpone significant commitments or important decisions until after Mercury turns direct next Monday, the 25th.
The weekend highlights fun activities. Recreational involvements can release some of the tensions we might have felt over the past week and since the beginning of this new year. We may not be able to establish firm footing, but we can become aware of the variables, consider our options and realize that there is more than one path to realize our long-term goals.
Monday, January 18th – Shop ‘Til You Drop – Lunar Grand Trine, Pluto, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Neptune. Monday has the Moon in Taurus and with it a Grand Trine in the Earth element as the Moon trines Mercury and Pluto in Capricorn and the Moon trines Jupiter in Virgo. Venus squares Jupiter and Mars trines Neptune. We start the week looking to put it all together. Whether we are considering a personal makeover or just want to add items in a fix-up type of mode, we could find ourselves out and about acquiring this, considering that, all with the idea of making ourselves and our environment appealing and looking good. We have to avoid overdoing today. We could spare no expense for what we want, what we feel we need or feel we deserve. This Monday can be a highly productive day, if we take the time to plan out our day and not just jump in with both feet into the deep end. We can establish a structure and format for our projects and then fine tune the details. Let’s try and keep things within certain bounds, for we might have the liability of trying to do too much and skirting some of the important points along the way. We may feel driven, as if divinely guided, but let’s avoid overconfidence or assuming we can do it all and then some. Taking things step by step, checking off the items as we go along can prevent us from leaping too far before we look at what we are trying to cross over.
Tuesday, January 19th – Possibilities or Improbabilities – Sun, Neptune. Tuesday begins with the Taurus Sun trine the Capricorn Moon. The Moon then moves into Gemini where today the Moon squares Neptune. We may have accomplished a great deal yesterday if we kept our wits about us. But in so doing, we might have narrowed our vision to the exclusion of all sorts of possibilities. This Tuesday we might glide on our laurels and yesterday’s accomplishments. While we could have concentrated our efforts in a prioritized schedule of projects, events and activities on Monday, this Tuesday throws wide open the realm of possibilities and even incorporates improbabilities. Our discernment today can slip, and we might be entranced by anything that captures our fancy. This is a day to be wary of what is told to us. People may have a great spin to their story, might do an engaging song and dance, and we could be seduced by the presentation without considering the content. With so much stimuli coming at us and with stimuli that we may even be seeking out, we could be all over the place flitting from one thing to another to another but without any real interest to concentrate. This is a day of vacillation, but that tendency would be better than making significant commitments. This is a day when what we see may not be what we get.
Wednesday, January 20th – Liberation Peak – Lunar T-Square, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Mercury, Sun Aquarius. Wednesday could prove a real whipsaw. We have the Gemini Moon triggering the Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Saturn and the Moon square Jupiter. This is one of those days when we can swing low and swing high. The liability to extremes in moods, actions, sentiments can be strong today. Yes, this can be one of those crazy-making days when it’s virtually impossible to get a right read of what is really going on. The Moon also sextiles Uranus. Mercury squares Uranus today, and the Sun exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. ‘Same old, same old’ just will not cut it for us today. While there can be screw-ups in communication and travel and all sorts of misunderstandings going on, our primary interest may be considering alternatives that truly work for us and doing it our way. We might run up against outmoded standards or deeply entrenched mindsets, and we might even try to expand such restrictive formats. Some of our ideas may seem downright revolutionary and we might not have receptive listeners to what we have to offer. Whether we have to repeat, draw pictures or use monosyllabic words to get our points across, we are looking to make people aware of options and alternatives that they cannot see and possibly not even able to understand. This is a day when after all the attempts to elucidate someone, we decide we have to go our own way.
Thursday, January 21st – At Peace with Oneself – Venus, Neptune. Wednesday may have been somewhat frustrating in trying to get from here to there. That may have been the case both in getting around and in getting someone to understand our point of view. The person might not have been interested in hearing what we had to say or their mind concepts may not have been able to compute options to their preconceived notions. No matter what we did, even if we stood on our head or spelled out our suggestions clearly in chocolate chips, we might have had difficulty yesterday in making our points understood by someone. Even if we feel slightly frustrated by the miscommunications, misunderstandings and even liable curve balls that were thrown into the mix, this Thursday allows us to get over our frustration and be at peace with ourselves. The day begins with the Gemini Moon opposed Venus. The Moon then goes into Cancer where today the Moon trines Neptune. While there might not have been a meeting of the minds in our communications, what might have come across and comes across today even more strongly is our presence. We have a certain mystique, a solid comfort within ourselves, and an appealing albeit peaceful countenance. This is a day when we can be the peaceful warrior and gain advocates just by means of our being.
Friday, January 22nd – Nothing Extraneous – Mars, Lunar T-Square, Mercury Pluto, Uranus. Friday is a day when we can put the pedal to the metal. The Cancer Moon trines Mars and the Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed both Mercury and Pluto and the Moon square Uranus. Mercury conjuncts Pluto. This Friday we can get up and go. We’re not looking at a T.G.I.F. [thank goodness it’s Friday]. On the contrary, we may be in overdrive looking to get things done in a concise and expeditious manner. We don’t want to hear excuses, long stories or personal memory ramblings. This is a day to cut to the core, get things done and not be tripped up by the superfluous or extraneous. Niceties can go out the window today. We are looking to get a lot done and we may have a great deal to do. If we can clear the decks and have the weekend for fun times and recreational activities, we’ll put ourselves in overdrive to accomplish outstanding matters and deal with what needs to get done. Although we are in a high-energy mode today, we do have to be careful what we say, to whom we say it and how we say it. Our communications can be sparse and to the point without any consideration for the other person’s feelings. At the same time, our mind is sharp and we can devise a best practices strategy to achieve what we want to realize.
Saturday, January 23rd – Looking the Part – Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Leo Full Moon, Sun, Venus Capricorn. Saturday begins with the Cancer Moon sextile Jupiter. Late Friday, early Saturday we may be continuing with the tie-up of loose ends, getting things in order and taking care of specifics that had yet to be dealt with. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for thirteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo later in the day and triggers the Leo Full Moon as the Leo Moon opposes the Sun in Aquarius. Venus exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn. Saturday may have us taking care of matters around the home, the usual errands and Saturday routine. As the day progresses, we may shift our interest and focus instead on pleasurable events, recreational activities and fun times. We could be looking to highlight our abilities, share our talents and stand in the limelight of the appreciation of a friend or friends. Get-togethers with friends and family can be enjoyable and everyone can be having a good time, just as long as everyone is willing to share the spotlight.
Sunday, January 24th – At the Top of Our Game – Mars, Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. The Leo Moon today squares Mars and the Moon triggers a Fire Grand Trine with the Leo Moon trine Saturn in Sagittarius and the Moon trine Uranus in Aries. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost twenty-five hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Virgo late on Monday night. This is a day when we need to keep a rein on our impetuousness or grandstanding. Brute force would be counterproductive, especially in light of the fact that if we avoid jumping the gun, this day can be one of those primo days when everything fits neatly into place. We can draw upon our expertise and experience to develop new interests and move along new trajectories. We can win the support of those who know us and those we might bump into. We have an interesting combination today. We may have our head in the clouds but our feet are firmly planted on the ground. Despite the fact that we are in the midst of the turmoil when Mercury shifts direction with Mercury ending its retrograde cycle and turning direct tomorrow, we could advance our interests in a structured and autonomous manner. We might have had difficulty earlier in the week convincing people of options and alternatives, but this Sunday has us at the top of our game. We can easily sell our own personal interests and what might be best for other people too. We might choose just to enjoy ourselves on this Sunday, but in doing so a gift would be lost — the gift of developing an innovative, state-of-the art best practices approach to realize our goals while maintaining our freedom of movement.
