There is a lot of movement this week, symbolic of the times in which we live.
Not only do we have three planets transiting out of one Sign to enter the succeeding Sign. This week also has us crossing the threshold from one year into the new year of 2016.
A new year always gives us promise of a fresh start, new beginnings and resolutions for how we can be better and do better in the year ahead. For many of us, having ratcheted up a number of new years, we might assume ‘same old, same old’. But the beauty of astrology is the reality that things are never the same. They may be similar but never the same.
The week begins with us still in the holiday mode. Even if we are back at work or engaged in our regular routine, we are looking for those moments of splendor, those incidents of joy, which add sparkle to our lives.
As we start the week, we can feel betwixt and between. Not only are we coming to the end of 2015. More importantly, we may be looking at stabilizing what we have created for ourselves all with an eye on pursuing new directions in the year ahead. We may have a thrust of energy to start the week, putting our best foot forward and presenting ourselves in an accomplished and innovative manner. We’ve got style as we start this week.
We may feel as though our personal destiny is unfolding in front of us, which it is, but we do have to avoid rushing the river, pushing too far too fast, even to the point of aggravating someone. Let’s keep in mind that grace and charm often go a lot further than petulance and obstinance.
The mid-part of the week can have us planning our New Year’s Eve celebrations. Either we might consider traveling for the weekend or trying to enlist other people to come and visit to join us in our festivities.
We may also be putting the finishing touches on any matters that we wish to complete before the new year. We could focus on outstanding matters in an attempt to bring closure to issues and clear the decks prior to the new year.
New Year’s Eve can be a festive time and one that continues on into the first day of the new year. We may all welcome the new year wishing those we love and whom care for a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead.
The weekend itself can have us out and about but preferring the comforts of home. We may feel pushed and pulled to accommodate the needs of other people, but let’s keep in mind that less may be more. If we have to engage our social commitments, we might want to keep them short and sweet.
Why wear ourselves out before the year has fully begun?
Monday, December 28th – Doing the Dance – Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Uranus. Monday starts the week with a Fire Grand Trine as the Leo Moon trines Saturn in Sagittarius and the Moon trines Uranus in Aries. We can begin this week in tip-top shape and wanting to show ourselves off to the world at large. We have style and flair. Our presentations can be dramatic, grounded in sound reasoning and yet with a unique, innovative touch that helps us stand out. We can draw upon our experience and our expertise to carve a new direction for ourselves, a path that allows us both authority and autonomy. We may seek out fun, recreational activities today, for we are looking at supping on the whole enchilada and not just taking a bite. This is a primo day when everything could seem to go our way. Let’s gauge our rhythm and engage the dance.
Tuesday, December 29th – Miscues – Mars, Venus, Sun, Neptune, Mercury. Tuesday begins with the Leo Moon sextile Mars and the Sun sextile Neptune. Yesterday might have been such fun that we became overly enamored with ourselves. A little narcissistic, we could assume that just as yesterday seemed to have everything going our way this Tuesday will continue in the same vein. And it might seem to do so early in the day. Unfortunately, we could hit some bumps in the road, for the Moon also squares Venus and Mercury squares Mars. Although we might be taken with ourselves and believe that other people are as entranced by our presence as we are, we could get a cold slap across the face by someone who doesn’t quite see the perfection in us that we see in ourselves. Conversations could turn heated and relationships turn icy. This is a day for us to check the water and test the water before we take a plunge into the deep end. We could be expecting a favorable reception to what we have to say, but we might be proven wrong. It would be important that we gauge where people are and how they might hear what we wish to communicate. Miscues and misunderstandings can create unnecessary issues. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Leo to enter Virgo. We could be more discerning as the day goes on, but any damage might have already occurred earlier in the day. Reparations to relationships might be necessary, even to the point of our eating crow.
Wednesday, December 30th – On Edge – Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Saturn, Sun, Pluto, Venus Sagittarius. Wednesday has the Virgo Moon trine both the Sun and Pluto in Capricorn. The Moon also triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Neptune and the Moon squares Saturn. Venus exits Scorpio, a Sign of its Detriment where Venus has not been especially comfortable, to enter Sagittarius. We may be pulled in various directions today. On the one hand, we might be preparing for tomorrow New Year’s Eve celebrations. On the other hand, we might want to focus on dealing with specific details of matters we wish to conclude before the year end. This is a day when it would be important for us to focus and schedule our time. Otherwise, we could wind up going round in circles and not addressing the various matters we wish to deal with and exhausting ourselves in the meantime. Whether we are traveling for the New Year celebrations or entertaining people from out of town, we are liable to put as much on our plate today as possible, and then some. It would be wise for us to prioritize and emphasize the most important issues today. We might not be able to do it all, but we can take care of the most pressing demands. The key to today is to slow things down and concentrate. Today and tomorrow allow us to take care of any matters that we need to complete before the new year.
Thursday, December 31st – Out With the Old – Jupiter. Although much of our interest might revolve around intended New Year celebrations, Wednesday and Thursday do allow us to tie up loose ends of 2015. Today, the Virgo Moon conjuncts Jupiter. We can accomplish a great amount in the early morning hours of this New Year’s Eve. Let’s keep in mind that this is the last day of 2015. Tomorrow begins a brand new year, and we might consider using this last day of 2015 to make our resolutions to be better and do better in the coming year. We can also close the door on outstanding matters that we do not want to bring into the new year. If we would take the time to consider the old and the new, we can leave some of our baggage behind and not drag it into 2016. Wednesday and Thursday would provide the energy to do a serious inventory taking of our lives and see what we can leave behind as we cross the threshold into the new year.
Friday, January 1st – Happy New Year – Mercury, Venus, Mercury Aquarius. Twelve midnight sets the imprint for the year ahead. For those in Europe and the Eastern time zone of the US this new year of 2016 is under the auspices of an Earth Grand Trine by Sign, an indication of the year being a most productive and even practical year. Friday begins with the Virgo Moon trine Mercury. The Moon then goes into Libra where today the Moon sextiles Venus. Late in the day, Mercury exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. New Year celebrations can continue from the early morning hours through this Friday and into early Saturday. Our celebrations may especially revolve around our loved ones. The more people we engage in the New Year festivities, the more we shall enjoy this beginning of the new year. We may come to appreciate that our lives are made ever more complete by the special people who touch our lives. We may use this day to reach out to people who are at a distance wishing them a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead. We might make resolutions that focus on our own personal health and wellbeing on all the levels of the physical, emotional and spiritual. This day allows us to recognize that we can leave the past behind, cross the threshold into a new arena and have a blank slate from which to draw upon. With our attitude and disposition we can make this a Happy New Year.
Saturday, January 2nd – Avoiding Old Pitfalls – Saturn, Lunar T-Square, Sun, Pluto, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. After a full day of festivities yesterday we might feel as though we are back on track with errands and usual Saturday morning tasks. We might find ourselves being called upon by someone to take care of certain situations. The day begins with the Libra Moon sextile Saturn and the Moon also triggering a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon squares both the Sun and Pluto in Capricorn and the Moon opposes Uranus in Aries. While we might enjoy someone’s company today, we also have to check ourselves to be certain that we are not overly obliging to someone else’s needs or demands. We could find whatever plans we have for this day are likely to be disrupted by someone else’s needs. In order to maintain our balance and establish a level playing field of give and take, today is a day for us to use our tai chi moves. With unexpected situations arising that may force us to alter our plans, the more we can be flexible and adapt to shifting circumstance, the more capable we shall be in dealing with such situations effectively. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for fifteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio tomorrow. We may have a great deal of energy in the morning hours, and we can deal with whatever arises if we maintain a cool head. The latter part of the day is less intense and may be a good time for us to relax and enjoy the company of a good friend or loved one.
Sunday, January 3rd – Clearing Away the Clutter – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Mercury, Mars Scorpio. Sunday begins with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra without making any further connections to the planets. Mars exits Libra, a Sign of its Detriment where Mars is not comfortable, and Mars enters Scorpio, a Sign that Mars co-rules with Pluto and where Mars is strong. The Moon moves into Scorpio where today the Moon conjuncts Mars and the Moon squares Mercury. We may feel as though we have gained a second wind today, feeling more persistent and passionate about things. This is a good day for us to focus on what lies right ahead of us with the realization that we might need to strip away those involvements that are superfluous and extraneous. While we might want to consider our future options, especially in light of the fact that we have just come into the new year, today is better served getting rid of and eliminating. If we give too much thought to our future goals, our clarity could be muddied by all the old stuff hanging around us. Today is better served with ‘out with the old’. Let’s clear some space and release the pulls of the outmoded in order to have a clearer perspective and greater freedom from past patterns. A good clean up and clear out is called for on this Sunday.
