September 21st – 27th, 2015

This week is a week of endings and beginnings. We bring closure to summer and enter autumn mid-week as the Sun enters Libra at the Autumnal Equinox.

With the International Day of Peace to start the week, we can only hope. While we may look to the future, we still need to deal with the present. The early part of the week allows us to deal with our responsibilities and tasks at hand. If we draw upon our intuitive sense and trust our instincts, we could develop a best practices approach to accomplish some of our great ambitions.

Unexpected encounters mid-week might open interesting doors to alternatives and options we may never have encountered. Increasingly, life seems to become ever more a scavenger hunt with clues here, clues there, leading us into fascinating trajectories, wonder-filled surprises and challenges to our perceived view of reality. What we see is not always what we get.

‘Hump day’ of this week officially ends summer and brings us into autumn. Not only are we leaving behind a summer that might have been disappointing to our expectations. We are also crossing a threshold into creating new facets of our lives and doing so with methodical steps and an appreciation, even if only begrudgingly, of some of the lessons we have learned from our recent challenges.

We may have our head in the clouds, but we are likely to keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. While our discernment can be acute, we also have to be wary that our critical eye does not become overly judgmental to the point of seeing the flaws in anything and everything. Our attitude is key. Either we can see the half glass of water as half empty or half full. Our choice, always our choice as to how we choose to view the events, incidents and scenarios occurring in our life.

The end of the week could be bombastic. Our nerves may be shaken up as releases seem explosive. These blasts of energy can be on a geophysical level with an uptick in earthquake and volcanic activity, on an atmospheric level with intense storm systems, and they can be on a personal level with people acting out, unleashing fury whether with cause or without cause.

The weekend and the week come to closure with the Aries Full Moon and a Lunar Eclipse. As a result of the wild swings in volatility, we may seek the security of past patterns and assume that what was can be, which in truth is but a fool’s paradise in this dramatically transforming landscape of our lives.

Monday, September 21st – We Got to Have Peace – Mars, Sun, Neptune. Monday is the International Day of Peace. And this Monday begins the week with the Sagittarius Moon trine Mars and the Moon square the Sun. The Moon today then moves into Capricorn where in the evening hours the Capricorn Moon sextiles Neptune. One of the great musicians, and one of the most underrated musicians of the twentieth century, Curtis Mayfield penned the lyrics:

We got have peace
To keep the world alive
And war to cease.

We got to have joy,
True in our hearts
With strength we can’t destroy

This week has a strong focus both on the visit of Pope Francis to the US and to New York on Thursday and on the gathering for the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015 from Friday through Sunday.
We may start the week with great intentions of expanding our interests and broadening our activities and especially those involvements that allow our creative talents to shine and be expressed. We should keep in mind the admonition: ‘the pathway to hell is often paved with good intentions’. While our plans may speak to our noble intentions, bringing them from concept into reality could have us glossing over details and negating essential specifics. As the day proceeds, we could be less passionate and less willing to race forward ‘come hell or high water’. Instead, we might take a more practical approach, visualize and blueprint a best practices approach, and then determine the right course of action to be a methodical, step-by-step approach rather than trying giant leaps.

Tuesday, September 22nd – Out of Nowhere – Jupiter, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Mercury, Uranus, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday begins the day with the Capricorn Moon trine Jupiter. We might discover that all the pieces of today’s schedule are fitting neatly into place. Things may move quickly. We can expedite taking care of our responsibilities, and we might discover that we are accomplishing more than usual in shorter periods of time. Although we can prioritize and get things done, we have to watch for getting tripped up either by our own vanity or by someone throwing curveballs at us. The Capricorn Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Pluto and the Moon square Mercury in Libra [and the retrograde Mercury to boot] and the Moon square Uranus in Aries. Ego issues can hamper our streamlined approach, and we could find ourselves enmeshed in too much talk and too little practical action. Let’s keep in mind the tai chi moves whereby we become aware of the energies operating and navigate around any unexpected blockages that might arise. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over eighteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius tomorrow. Venus trines Uranus late in the day. Even if we have been flummoxed by situations, something could arise virtually out of nowhere to clear our path, streamline our actions and provide us clues to what sidesteps we might take. The beauty of these times is the serendipity and synchronicity of things happening randomly, unexpectedly, surprisingly and without much effort on our part except to have our antennae up and work with peripheral vision.

Wednesday, September 23rd – Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn – Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Saturn, Autumnal Equinox, Sun Libra. Although Wednesday is often referred to as ‘hump’ day, this Wednesday signals a major shift as we end one season and enter another. The day begins with the Void-of-Course Moon with the Moon finishing its transit of Capricorn without making any further connections to the planets. The Sun exits Virgo to enter Libra at the Autumnal Equinox closing out the summer season and bringing us into autumn. As the Moon enters Aquarius, the Moon trines the Sun and the Moon sextiles Saturn. The Libra Sun sextiles Saturn. With every ending comes a new beginning, and so it is on this day. We may begin the day tying up loose ends, bringing closure to certain matters and dealing with the small details of our lives. As the day progresses, our interests may revolve around our friends and connections. If we have been tardy in replying to someone or catching up with someone, we are likely to reach for the phone, call them up, text them or email them. Even if we use smoke signals, this is a day when we are more interested in what is going on with someone else and less absorbed in our own personal world. People can offer us sage advice, make us aware of how best to establish the foundation stones of our future and encourage us to move forward in a clear and structured manner. Our future is ahead of us but much of it is in our present as we give thought and discuss our forthcoming plans.

Thursday, September 24th – Maybe or Maybe Not – Mercury, Uranus, Pluto, Mars Virgo. Thursday has the Aquarius Moon with the Moon today trine Mercury and the Moon sextile Uranus. Mercury squares Pluto a day before Pluto turns direct. Mars exits Leo to enter Virgo. We might be flying high as we start this Thursday. Our conversations are flowing, and there seems to be a nice interchange back and forth in our relationships with people. Everyone may be relatively charming, diplomatic and enjoying each other’s company. We can consider possibilities and even engage fantasies of what we wish our future to be like. That’s all well and good in the abstract and the conceptual. But talk is talk, and we might also encounter blockages to some of our plans, arguments against some of our ideas. We could encounter pushbacks either from someone who strongly disagrees with us or we might find that the rules and regulations imposed upon us constrict us from putting into motion some of our desired ambitions. This is a day when there can be some extreme whipsaws in our discussions, our moods and our ideas. We could have the greatest plans in mind but they could fall apart due to the old saying that ‘the devil is in the details’. Things can flow easily in our mind’s eye, but they seem far more arduous to accomplish in practical reality where we sometimes bang up against other people’s wishes, the dysfunctionality of our times or the restrictions placed upon us by authoritative statutes, rules and regulations. Let’s keep in mind the tai chi moves whereby we work with the energies rather than trying to control or master them. We do not have to confront opposition. We can go around it, over it or under it, whatever way is most effective in dealing with and removing the blockages.

Friday, September 25th – Contentious Explosions – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Lunar T-Square, Mars, Saturn, Pluto direct. This Friday is NOT one of those days when we call out in appreciation: T.G.I.F. [thank goodness it’s Friday]. No, this Friday seems bound to be contentious with blasts, explosions and unleashing the demons. Okay, that might all sound rather dire, but the energies on this Friday are quite extreme. We begin the day with the Aquarius Moon opposed Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over fifteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces. As the Moon enters Pisces, the Moon triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Mars and the Moon square Saturn. Added to the mix, Mars squares Saturn, and Pluto ends its retrograde motion to turn direct. This day begins with very few people on the same page. We might awaken out-of-sorts, in a bad mood, and feeling the world is squashing our autonomy and imposing their own rules and regulations to the degree of fitting us into a straitjacket. It is important for us to bear in mind that during this phase of humanity’s cycles with the paradigm shift engaged, there is a paradox and an opposition between the old and the new, between the sense of increased control over events [the old] and the opportunity off increased self-actualization and individual creative expression [the new]. The two do not mesh, for they are virtually opposite polarities. As a result, there could be occasional eruptions, explosions, blasts and contentious behavior. This Friday could prove one of those days. This is a day for us to tread softly, maintain vigilance and keep fully aware as to what is going on around us. The liability to people acting out can be extreme and the extreme energies concurrently might be seen in intense storm systems or geophysical activity. An unleashing of the furies can be under way on this Friday. It would be wise for us to avoid knee jerk reactions, to count to ten before responding and to allow the dust to settle before we come to some definitive judgment as to what is going on. The backdrop of all of this is the seismic shift going on in our society, the transformation of our lives and how we are doing life. To seek comfort from the raging storms, we might draw upon the analogy of the mythological bird, the phoenix, on its funereal pyre to rise from the ashes and soar ever higher. This analogy describes society’s transformation and our own personal transformations.

Saturday, September 26th – Licking Our Wounds – Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. After what may have proven to be a rather raucous Friday [so much for the T.G.I.F. concept], this Saturday can have us regrouping, seeking some ‘time out’ with an attempt to try and figure out what the hell is going on. Today, the Pisces Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon opposes Jupiter and the Moon sextiles Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for close to twenty-seven hours as the Moon makes no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries on Sunday. Saturday may be a day when we step off the track, consider what has gone on and try to get a handle on the unfoldings taking place in the world-at-large and how those changes might impact us directly. We can wake up very moody on this Saturday and feel as though we are but pawns in a giant chess game played by the powers-that-be. And that’s exactly what the authority figures would want — a realization and acceptance of our disempowerments as individuals to the perceived greater good. But such a belief flies in the face of true reality, for increasingly each one of us is developing the skills, the tool kit, the adaptability and flexibility, and the willingness to seek out venues by which we can express our creative interests and by which we can increase the autonomy over our individual lives. As the old cigarette commercial would tell us: “You’ve come a long way, baby”. Thanks to technology and our own individual self-development, we are far less trusting or willing to accept the edicts handed down by the so-called powers-that-be, whose powers in actuality are far more diminished now than ever before. Saturday is a good day for us to contemplate, reflect and consider what has gone on in our lives and then focus on what we understand the truly meaningful facets of our lives happen to be. No matter the vicissitudes of these times, we are stronger in character now than before, have been able to withstand the dramatically-changing conditions operating all around us, and can intend our trajectory for the future, all with the appreciation that we are co-creators of our destiny with the universe unfolding and not the sole arbiters of our life’s journey.

Sunday, September 27th – Shine On, Harvest Moon – Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Aries Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse. Sunday could be slow starting. The twenty-seven hour Moon Void-of-Course that began yesterday continues on into this Sunday. We may have wiped ourselves out over the past few days, so we might find ourselves relaxing or having a hard time getting going. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Pisces to enter Aries where today the Moon trines Saturn and the Moon opposes the Sun at the time of the Aries Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse. Whatever energy we have to begin this Sunday, we might be more interested in bringing closure to elements of our past. A weekend autumn clean-up is something for us to consider. We could be looking at paring down and getting rid of those things for which we no longer have use. By eliminating the outmoded from our lives, we can initiate new activities or new involvements. We are not interested in being weighted down. We want space for the new and the different. By stripping away the non-essential from our lives, we can concentrate on those areas that are far more appealing to us and are more reflective of who we are becoming. Taking in an autumn festival or fall fair may be great fun and reflect the harvesting we have done, whether solely internally or also externally, to our character, our soul development and our individual expressions in our lives. Each of us can embrace the concept that we are shining on and reflecting the best of our selves. We do need to remember that we are not islands unto ourselves and realize that much of our self-actualization comes thanks to the interactions with other people. Today, the ME may be drawn to greater incorporate the WE.
