May 18th – 24th, 2015

Running in place could be the gist of this week. We may try to put the pedal to the metal only to find that we are stuck in neutral revving our engine.

The week begins with the Taurus New Moon in the last degrees of Taurus before the Moon moves into Gemini on Monday, and the Sun moves into Gemini on Thursday. This New Moon configuration heightens the Mutable Sign T-Square and occurs just prior to Mercury turning retrograde late on Monday for its three-week retrograde cycle.

We may start the week with a thrust of energy and good intentions, but like the saying goes: ‘the pathway to hell is paved with good intentions.’

We might experience various delays, frustrations and blockages as we try to move our projects forward. Old issues might arise, and we could also discover that our clarity is lacking in regard to what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how we are doing it. Confusion can be rampant.

Although Mercury retrograde has entered the lexicon of the general public with the reference to Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’, this Mercury retrograde could prove quite a doozey both by reason of Mercury retrograding through its own Sign of Gemini and also because Mercury is triggering the Mutable Sign T-Square with the Gemini transiting planets opposed Saturn in Sagittarius and square Neptune in Pisces.

We could find ourselves in quite a conundrum this week, champing at the bit to get on with it and with times of highly excitable energy, other times when we are completely fatigued by it all.

While we start off with an intense thrust to begin the week, we have a slight respite during the mid-week period before the energy goes off the charts during the latter part of the week.

Relationships could prove dicey towards the end of the week, and we have to wonder whether we are simply using someone as a piñata in order to vent frustrations that are not focused solely on that person but rather an expression of our own level of discontent and possibly discontent that we cannot clearly define or identify.

The weekend can be a pleasant retreat into fun activities and recreational pursuits and may be a necessary tonic to the crazy whipsaws of the week itself.

This is a week for us to try and hold steady despite the gale force winds of confusions, misunderstandings and mixed messages. Even the weather can be extreme.

Monday, May 18th – Great Expectations – Taurus New Moon, Sun, Mars, Lunar T-Square, Saturn, Neptune, Mercury retrograde. Monday starts the week with the Taurus New Moon in the last degrees of Taurus. While the imprint marks a time to put things in order and establish the foundation stones of our ambitions, we need to keep in mind the variability and volatility of these times and commit to the two key characteristics necessary for these times: flexibility and adaptability. While we may start the day somewhat grounded, we could suddenly get swept up by tornado-like winds as the energy shifts dramatically. The Moon exits Taurus to enter Gemini where the Moon triggers the Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Mars, the Moon opposed Saturn and the Moon square Neptune. We could be all over the place stumbling and grumbling and wondering which way is up. Although we may want to get a great deal done, curveballs can throw us off course and delays frustrate us. We could easily go down the wrong pathway, head off in an incorrect trajectory and find ourselves going maze-like in circles. With Mercury turning retrograde in its own Sign of Gemini, not only will the Mutable Sign T-Square be heightened, so will the level of confusion, misdirection and misunderstanding be ratcheted up several fold. This is a day for us to let go of our expectations, be careful out there, and recognize that even if we move our involvements forward there can be a pushback or our plans may not work out as we intended. This is a day to engage bemusement at the foibles of the human race.

Tuesday, May 19th – World of Possibilities – Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday is the first full day of this Mercury retrograde cycle. It would be wise for us to keep in mind that the energies are the most convoluted when Mercury first turns from direct to retrograde or from retrograde to direct motion, times when we have yet to get used to the change in the pattern. Tuesday has the Gemini Moon conjunct the retrograde Mercury, the Moon sextile Jupiter and the Moon sextile Uranus. We might think that the world is our oyster today, but such an assumption is largely based on the ease of mental conceptualizing rather than practical implementation. Our mind may be filled with all sorts of wonderful thoughts and ideas of the world of possibilities. Unfortunately, our mental meandering can be all over the place with us Walter Mitty-like believing that whatever we conceive we can easily achieve. Nice concept, but such an attitude might prove highly over-the-top. Our discussions can be all very theoretical with everyone providing a mutual admiration society and encouraging even the most outlandish of prospects. While wandering in the mind fields is not to be discouraged, the pleasure will be in the thinking process rather than executing our plans. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twenty hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 20th – Not a Hump, Not Even a Bump – Moon Void-of-Course. The Void-of-Course Moon transiting through Gemini that began yesterday with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini continues into this Wednesday. The Moon then moves into its own Sign of Cancer, but today the Moon makes no aspects as it begins its transit of Cancer. There is not much energy on this Wednesday. Even though this is considered to be ‘hump’ day, there’s not so much as a bump. The less involved we can be with the world today, the more we would like it. This is a day when we might choose to circle the wagons, pull the covers over our heads, and stick our head in the sand ostrich-like. We are not interested in setting the world on fire. Enough people are already doing that. This Wednesday is a far better day for self care, our own personal care of ourselves. Whether we engage other people or not, there can be a part of us that remains behind the curtain keeping to ourselves. We might seek time at home or in connection with family, but certainly not looking at doing anything overly strenuous or having us exert too much energy.

Thursday, May 21st – Cuts that Sting – Neptune, Venus, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun Gemini. Hopefully, we rested up on Wednesday, for Thursday could prove a rather intense day. The day begins benignly enough, even pleasantly, as the Cancer Moon trines Neptune and the Moon conjuncts Venus. All is well in home and hearth, as we idle in lovely thoughts and nurturing surroundings. Such a sense can have us feeling like we are living in a luxurious paradise where everyone not only likes us but actually love us. A wonderful thing is the realm of the imagination, and we can be in its grip as we start this Thursday. Our enraptured mood can continue for a while until the Moon triggers the Uranus Pluto square with the Moon creating a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Pluto and the Moon squares Uranus. We might find ourselves hitting a wall, our appealing trajectory suddenly upset by our routine obligations and unexpected curveballs. We could feel as though the rug is pulled out from under us. With the Lunar T-Square heightened by Venus opposed Pluto, relationships could turn nasty towards the latter part of the day. The dichotomy between the start of the day and the latter part of the day can be extreme with us going from the idyllic to the hellish and with no stops in between. Festering hurts and acknowledging deceptions could create nasty verbal cuts that sting. We have to be careful that we do not become belligerent and create irreparable damage to our relationships. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twenty-one hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo late on Friday. Thursday also has the Sun exiting Taurus to enter Gemini, creating a Stellium of three planets in Gemini as the Sun joins Mars and Mercury in the Mercury-ruled Sign. The Sun in Gemini adds another note to the Mutable Sign T-Square with the Gemini-transiting planets opposing Saturn in Sagittarius and squaring Neptune in Pisces. And we have the Mercury retrograde contributing to miscommunications, misunderstandings and a liability of a rush to judgment. Oh, boy!

Friday, May 22nd – Catching Our Breath – Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Saturn. Friday may be slow going as we start the day. The Void-of-Course Moon that began yesterday as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer without the Moon making any further connections to the planets continues through much of this day. Our emotions could be heightened with us playing the victim – martyr role. If we got one of those whacks on the side of the head yesterday, we could be nursing our wounds, our emotional hurts. We can be highly moody as we begin this day. We might be biding our time until the weekend comes. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Cancer to enter Leo. The Moon in Leo sextiles the Sun and the Moon trines Saturn today. The Sun opposes Saturn. No matter what has gone on for us during the week, we are looking at making this weekend a fun time with various recreational [re-creational] activities and enjoyable engagements. In the US, this weekend is the long Memorial Day holiday weekend and the unofficial kickoff to summer. We are not merely ready for the summer season. We are gung-ho for our summer fun and the opportunity to get off the track and enjoy ourselves fully. Unfortunately, if we are trying to get out of Dodge today, we might find the traffic and travel to be something of a bear. Let’s remember that we have Mercury retrograde and the Mutable Sign T-square operational with today augmented by the Sun hitting off the Saturn in the T-Square by means of today’s opposition. If we can avoid being frustrated by any delays or disruptions to our plans, then this weekend can be a most enjoyable excursion into getting off the track of our usual routine and luxuriating in the warming temperatures. It would be wise for us to pace ourselves today and not blow our energy on one wild night of good times.

Saturday, May 23rd – Walk and Talk – Mars, Mercury. Saturday can be a fun day, a day when we are participating in any number of activities. The Leo Moon sextiles Mars and Mercury, both transiting through Gemini. We can be going from one thing to another to another, stopping no longer than briefly at each event. We do not want to be single-focused today but rather would prefer to engage a smorgasbord of various delights. People may be pontificating, talking non-stop, all the while in constant motion. This Saturday, we might not sit down but rather be on the fly. This is a day for us to enjoy ourselves with little long-term commitment or definitive decisions. We may feel as though we are under a waterfall with various people, incidents and opportunities cascading over us. What fun, especially if we accept that everything we encounter is ‘in the moment’, quick involvements that sparkle in our lives but situations which might not have a lasting effect. A highly active Saturday, this is a day for us to take everything with a grain of salt, enjoy the repartee and not take anything too seriously.

Sunday, May 24th – New Creative Adventures – Jupiter, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Sunday can be a day when we are spontaneous, open to anything and feeling good about life. The day begins with the Leo Moon conjunct Jupiter and the Moon trine Uranus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twenty-two hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo tomorrow. We may be confident, upbeat, looking to spread our wings and open to the magic and mysteries of the universe. We might need a push to get us off cloud nine and go in search of creative new adventures. We could easily laze around heaven all day, or at least our backyard or the shore. Even if we have no special plans for this day, this is likely to be a ‘feel good’ day and a day when unexpected situations could come knocking at our door. It would be wise for us to be open to receive the unexpected and willing to act in the moment. We can recharge our batteries and bump up our optimism. This Sunday is definitely a day of rest and re-creation.
