“Here comes the Sun” may be our refrain this week as we slog out of winter and come into the Spring season later this week.
In 1969, George Harrison wrote the song for the Beatles, and the lyrics seem aptly appropriate for this time of this year:
“Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
And I say it’s all right
Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces…”
Before we get to Spring on Friday of this week, we have a few bumps in the road to encounter.
While we are looking forward to the Vernal Equinox and the renaissance of Spring, we may be especially pleased to know that we are also coming to closure with a particular energy configuration that has dogged us since the Summer of 2012. Monday-Tuesday of this week is the last exact aspect of the Uranus Pluto square.
We might have especially felt the Uranus Pluto square mid-week of this past week when Mars triggered it. I know I certainly did with that mid-week period being my version of ‘Welcome to Hell.’
But that’s behind us, right? Not so fast, since this week begins with the final exact aspect of the Uranus Pluto square. After almost three years of this aspect, we may all have experienced certain changes, eliminations, screw-ups and the like. The bottom line of all this mishegas has been transformations and shape-shiftings that may have felt like a camel trying to squeeze through the eye of a needle.
While the beginning of the week can have us considering past scenarios, old matters that never got resolved and certain dreams dashed on the vagaries of these times, the mid-week period can have us considering both a cleanout of winter’s doldrums and a preparation for us to spring ahead.
There’s been a great deal of water under the bridge, and we are not looking to go back to re-create past conditions. Even if we chose to do so, we are different from whom we were then, so it just isn’t going to be happening. We have gone through our own transformations. The ‘I’ of yesteryear is not the ‘I’ of today, much less of tomorrow.
As we come into the mid-week period, we may wish to ready our Spring wardrobe, have a makeover, address the burgeoning sense of a new ‘I’, and spruce ourselves up. We want to feel good and may choose to do so by looking good.
The mid-week period can also have us being incredibly moody and emotional, and this sense of heightened emotions can run through the latter part of the week. Mortality and the feeling of ‘death’ may be around us, but it would be wise to keep in mind that the deathing is both our recognition of our dying to the old to be born into the new, and also the ending of one astrological annual cycle and the beginning of a new astrological year.
The end of the week punctuates this dichotomy of old and new, as we come to the Solar Eclipse with the Piscean New Moon less than one hour prior to our entry into the new astrological new year at the time of the Vernal Equinox when the Sun exits Pisces to enter Aries and initiate a whole new astrological year cycle.
A spurt of energy can be strong as we come into the weekend. We may engage various different activities, some most unfamiliar to our experiences. Like a pioneer heading off with machete in hand to carve their own path, so too may we be feeling ready to engage the new and the different and to do so on our own terms, in our own way, even if that means our going it alone.
Over the weekend we can contemplate the foundation stones we intend to lay for our new beginnings, new projects and springtime activities.
Monday, March 16th – It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over – Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Uranus, Pluto. In deference to the baseball sage, Yogi Berra, this Monday speaks to the end of the Uranus Pluto square that has dogged us for almost three years. This is the last exact square of this aspect, and we might all wish to celebrate the ending to a cycle that may have created various releases, eliminations, rugs being pulled out from under and other various forms of radical changes. Celebrate we may, but with the lingering recognition that we shall still be dealing with a tendency towards letting go of situations and conditions before new opportunities present themselves. While the Uranus Pluto will be moving away from exactitude, we shall continue to feel the ricochets from first Pluto then Uranus for a while. This Monday also begins the week with Mercury square Saturn, and we have to be wary that we are not overly impacted by what’s going on with the powers-that-be. We could have the sense that there is neither engineer nor conductor on what often seems like a runaway train with us being the unwitting passengers. This may be a day when it would be wise for us to keep our head down, go about our regular tasks and focus on what needs to be done in the moment. The Capricorn Moon squares Venus and as the Moon moves into Aquarius today, the Moon sextiles Saturn. We may have to deal with various curveballs today, but if we keep our eye on the ball, then we can easily deal with whatever comes our way.
Tuesday, March 17th – May the Road Rise Up To Meet You – Jupiter, Uranus, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus Taurus. I drew upon the first line of the old Irish blessing for Tuesday because today is St. Patrick’s Day, a day when each and every one of us can enlist being Irish, and that’s no blarney. Tuesday has the Aquarius Moon opposed Jupiter and the Moon sextile both Uranus and Mars before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over fourteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces tomorrow. Venus exits Aries, a Sign of its Detriment where Venus is not comfortable, and Venus enters Taurus, a Sign that it rules and where Venus is especially comfortable. We may be far more interested today in celebrating, cavorting and spending time with friends rather than attending to what needs to be done. This is also a day known for its liquid refreshments, a day akin to New Year’s Eve for license to drink. If we go that route of celebration with knocking back a pint or two, a stout or good Irish whiskey, we just have to be wary that tomorrow doesn’t leave us with a stinging headache and nasty hangover. Although we might focus more on doing what we want to do, engaging friends and enjoying ourselves, it would be wise for us to keep in mind the admonition that ‘if we dance to the music, we have to pay to the piper’.
Wednesday, March 18th – Daydream Believer – Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Mercury. If we tied one on yesterday, we could be paying the price on this Wednesday. Today has the Moon moving into Pisces where today the Moon sextiles Venus, the Moon squares Saturn and the Moon conjuncts both Neptune and Mercury. Mercury conjuncts Neptune. This may be an otherworldly day, whether we had too much to drink yesterday or not. Our emotions are ratcheted up severalfold, even exponentially, on this Wednesday. Our moods can swing from euphoric to discouraged without any real trigger point, reason or cause. This can be a highly intuitive day if we can keep somewhat grounded, a tall order indeed. Our decisions and opinions could be guided by our sensitivities more than empirical reasoning. We could be highly susceptible to anyone who tells a good tale, spins a good yarn and has plenty of wool to pull over our eyes. This is not a great day for significant decisions since we are likely to be guided more by our feelings and impressions rather than due diligence or focused deliberations. Listening to music or getting down by the water would go a long way to soothing our soul. Tears may be readily available as we are deeply affected by what’s going on in the world, what we hear from other people, and the emotional dramas, trials and tribulation that we hear about. It would be important for us to keep a rein on our emotions today, for otherwise we could be caught in an extreme metronome of mood swings.
Thursday, March 19th – Dark of the Moon – Pluto. Thursday continues with the Pisces Moon and is the day before tomorrow’s New Moon, so we are on the dark side of the Moon. Today, the Moon sextiles Pluto. This is also the last full day of Winter. We may find ourselves tying up loose ends, bringing things to closure and cleaning up our space. We are ready for Spring, ready for the renaissance and new beginnings that Spring offers. Before we cross the threshold into the new season we are focused on completions. We do not want to bring a lot of the old baggage into the new season, into the astrological new year. We can be very adept today at putting things in the proper perspective and putting them in the right place. We may be closing various doors but with the intention like the saying ‘when one door closes, another door opens’. We are ready for the new doors to open. We just have to make room by clearing the space. Let’s keep in mind that the universe abhors a vacuum and, as we get rid of certain things in our lives, other things fill in the void.
Friday, March 20th – In ‘n Out – Pisces New Moon, Solar Eclipse, Sun, Saturn, Vernal Equinox, Sun Aries. Certainly, I was reminiscing about those celebrated In ‘n Out burgers in California and the US Southwest, but this day also has us with one foot in and one foot out, as we move from Winter into Spring. Before we get there, we have the Moon conjunct the Sun at the Pisces New Moon in the last degree of Pisces and a Solar Eclipse. Drawing upon the slogan of Tug McGraw for the NY Mets ‘Ya Gotta Believe’, this Friday has us on the doorstep of the new and unknown. While we might prefer to engage the new, the unknown can be somewhat scary and demands that we have faith, albeit blind faith, to leap forward. We have outgrown our past, may question our future, but there is truly no alternative but to move ahead even if our destination is unclear and our itinerary unknown. It is important even when evidence indicates the contrary that we embrace the belief that ‘everything works out in the end’ — Ya Gotta Believe. This fortnight over the next two weeks may be a time of both letting go and new initiations. Let’s keep in mind that the new paradigm speaks to being open to the magic and mini-miracles of asequential reality and asks, even demands, that we let go of our assumption of controlling situations and mastering circumstance. The magic is in the natural unfolding of the universal energies and the opportunities they present us. We move into Spring with a great deal of fire, a Stellium of three planets in Aries – Sun, Mars, Uranus – and the Fire Grand Trine by Sign of the three Aries-transiting planets, Jupiter in Leo and Saturn in Sagittarius. Like a racehorse in the starting gate, we are ready to race ahead once the gate opens. Today, we move from the old into the new. We are in ‘n out.
Saturday, March 21st – I’ll Do It My Way – Jupiter, Pluto, Uranus, Mars. Saturday can have us ready to take on the world and engage as many activities and thrilling events as we possibly can. We start the day upbeat, confident and unwilling to be held back by anything or anyone. We might be like a bull in a china shop, and we could run up against some impediments and obstacles as we push ahead. The day begins with the Aries Moon trine Jupiter, the Moon square Pluto and the Moon conjunct both Uranus and Mars. While we feel optimistic as we start the day, we could find that our plans are being limited by our responsibilities. If we can attend to whatever errands need to be accomplished early in the day, then we can use the rest of the day for whatever captures our fancy and engage our whims on the spur of the moment. We might also choose just to negate pressing demands and go ahead and do our own thing. We should recognize that if we push the envelope, we could also experience a major pushback. Even if some overhanging situation feels like having the air taken out of our tires, it is a momentary distraction that, once attended, does not have to stand in the way of our spontaneous engagements.
Sunday, March 22nd – Sprucing Up – Venus, Neptune, Mercury, Pluto. Sunday can be one of those days when we seem to have it all together. The Moon moves into Taurus where today the Moon conjuncts Venus and the Moon sextiles Neptune. Mercury sextiles Pluto. Not only are we looking good, our appearance radiant and appealing. We have a certain mystique about us today. But it’s not all image, no substance. On the contrary, our mind is sharp, our communications clear and we can make our points in a most persuasive manner. It might feel as though we are being divinely guided today, as we weave interesting tales of parables to make our point and win over our converts. This is a day for us to take notice of how we look to other people and how we can draw their attention by our presentation. Not that we seem arrogant and self-absorbed. We seem empathetic, and our communications can be heart-felt but to the point. This is a day when we could prove to be a sage counselor to those suffering through their problems, yet still detached enough not to get entangled in other people’s dramas.
