This week is an exciting week, a week of various significant shifts and dramatic changes, and the celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Green Wooden Sheep [Goat / Ram].
We begin the week paying attention to detail, those specific matters that demand our attention. We may feel as though we have our nose to the grindstone, attending to our responsibilities and those situations that lie right in front of us.
As the week progresses, we may look up from our particular focus and look to the far horizon and beyond. Our interests lie in our future, the unfathomable unknown with all its prospects and possibilities and, in this age of asequential reality, even impossibilities being possible. These are exciting times in which we live, and as we come to the mid-point of the week with the Aquarius New Moon and the Chinese New Year we are likely to celebrate all that can be with that special someone, or special people, in our lives.
This Chinese New Year is the year of the Green Wooden Sheep [Ram / Goat] and promises the ability to establish order and structure out of the creative chaos that has gone on before. According to interpretation for the Green Wooden Sheep, this year can be a highly prosperous year resulting from our due diligence and our willingness to engage hard work.
This sense of new beginnings can be accentuated by the change in Sign later in the week as first Mars and then Venus move out of Pisces to enter Aries, the Cardinal Fire Sign. Even if the temperatures are cold, the snow is deep and winter seems to have us in its enthrall, a sense of burgeoning new life may be evident as Mars and Venus enter Aries and create a Stellium of three or more planets in the Cardinal Fire Sign with Venus and Aries joining Uranus in Aries.
No matter the weather outside, we may have a fire in our belly as the Fire Grand Trine of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius becomes amplified by the Aries Stellium. We may have been slogging through the muck and the mire over recent times, but we are more than willing to deal with whatever comes our way, all the while that we are looking to initiate activities and projects that speak primarily to our own personal self-interests.
A new day is dawning, and we may be the ones to raise the curtain on our new days.
Monday, February 16th – A Day With Catch-up – Venus, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury. As opposed to other Mondays that may have been slow-starting, this Monday starts with us likely to be bounding out of bed with our ‘to do’ list in hand. Such is a likely beginning to our week in spite of the fact that in the US this is the last day of a long holiday weekend with today celebrating President’s Day. The week begins with the Moon in Capricorn sextile both Venus and Mars in Pisces. The more we can get done today, the less matters to accomplish later on. We might feel that we have bigger fish to fry and may want to get certain issues out of the way before we can fully engage new and more interesting activities. We do have to be wary that we don’t fall prey to the service – self-sacrifice trap, whereby we get involved in other people’s emotional dramas. Our compassion and our spiritual sense could easily get us entangled in someone else’s problems, problems that they are liable to be so attached to that, no matter what we say, no matter what we do on their behalf, they would prefer to hold on to their issues. Before we get immersed in someone’s negative situation, it would be wise for us to remember to ‘check the source and check their agenda.’ It would only be exhausting for us to participate in a never-ending dance and whine party. After the early part of the day when we can get much done, if we are not distracted by other people’s neediness, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before entering Aquarius where late today the Moon conjuncts Mercury. From initially concentrating on specifics and particulars and the details of our lives, late in the day we can give thought to our plans for the future, getaways and get-togethers with good friends.
Tuesday, February 17th – Fat Tuesday – Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter. Tuesday has the Aquarius Moon sextile Saturn, the Moon sextile Uranus and the Moon opposed Jupiter. This day can be an expansive day, even downright gluttonous, as we stuff ourselves with all sorts of indulgences, from foods to possibilities to future plans and more, more, more. While Fat Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is often highlighted by the antics of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the sense of frivolity and excess can be strong for each one of us on this Tuesday. The sense of expansion and stretching into new areas of interest can be strong today. We might seek out friends to participate in some fun times as we seek to celebrate one of those days that give us license to enjoy ourselves to the max. We are on the dark side of the Moon, prior to tomorrow’s New Moon, so we might prefer to lounge the day away, considering our possibilities and indulging our appetites. Since there could be a liability to extremes today, we might want to keep track of our budget and expenses. We could be generous to a fault and dance to the music without considering the later payment to the piper.
Wednesday, February 18th – Celebrate, Celebrate, Dance to the Music – Aquarius New Moon, Sun, Sun Pisces. In deference to China and the Chinese, tomorrow in China is the Chinese New Year. Here in the West, this Wednesday is the Aquarius New Moon triggering the Chinese New Year. The Aquarius New Moon with the Moon conjunct the Sun occurs in the last six seconds of Aquarius, right on the Cusp, and consequently the two most universal Signs of the Zodiac, Aquarius and Pisces, are in play. In China, this is New Year’s Eve, a time of great celebration, family get-togethers and sumptuous banquets. This Wednesday is a day of new beginnings, a time when we can fully appreciate those significant people in our lives, all with the recognition and appreciation that our lives are made much happier, with more sparkle and greater vibrancy, thanks to those special people being in our lives. This is a day for us to consider our future prospects, all with an understanding that in this paradigm shift we no longer have to make things happen, but we do have to be open to the magic and miracles of these times, when things can occur in a most serendipitous and unexpected manner. We only have to be open in order to receive. Not only can we be appreciative the people in our lives, but we might consider reflecting upon all the blessings that are bestowed upon us. Our spiritual nature can be engaged as we contemplate both where we have been and the myriad of possibilities that await us in our days ahead.
Thursday, February 19th – Happy New Year! – Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars Aries. In the West, the Chinese New Year began late yesterday. In China, the Chinese New Year begins today. This Chinese New Year is the year of the Green Wooden Sheep [Ram / Goat], and the year offers the opportunity of our creating order out of chaos. Certainly, all of us have gone through some dramatic changes over the past few years. We have done so personally and so too have our societies. Shifts, changes, transitions and dramatic transformations have been part of the landscape since the latter part of the first decade of this century. This year allows us great success and prosperity, if we are willing to do the work. We may start this day in a rather moody, reflective state. We might feel as though we are being visited by the phantoms of our past, whether those phantoms be with people we have known, situations we thought once resolved or outstanding matters that seem to still daunt us. We can use this day to tie up loose ends. Instead of getting emotionally involved with pressing demands, the more objective we can be and the more detached or non-attached we can be, then we can bring closure to various matters that we need to be rid of. Due diligence will go a long way towards clearing the decks and cleaning up the clutter. If we don’t let our emotions sway us, we can prioritize and focus our efforts. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for the next twenty-four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries late tomorrow. As the day progresses, Mars exits Pisces to enter its own Sign of Aries, joining Uranus in the Cardinal Fire Sign and to be joined by Venus tomorrow as Venus also exits Pisces to enter Aries. Mars rules Aries, and we might have a sudden thrust of energy, a desire to take machete in hand and pioneer our own beginnings no matter the undergrowth or obstacles in our way.
Friday, February 20th – Champing at the Bit – Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Mars, Venus Aries. We may be revving our engines, putting the pedal to the metal, wanting to get on with it but not making much headway as though we were stuck in neutral. The day begins with the Moon in Pisces but with the Moon Void-of-Course making no connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries late in the day. If we can use the early part of the day to wrap up loose ends, bring closure to outstanding matters and complete tasks we wish to end before the weekend, then we might not waste the day champing at the bit, expectantly waiting for a starting gun to go off. And a starting gun there can be as we come later in the day. Today’s entry of Venus in Aries, where Venus is not especially comfortable, creates a Stellium of three planets in Aries as Venus joins Mars and Uranus in the Cardinal Fire Sign. This Fire is augmented by the Moon moving into Aries, where today the Moon conjuncts both Mars and Venus. Not only do we have the Aries Stellium. We also have an increased Fire to the Fire Grand Trine by Sign with the Aries planets, Jupiter in Leo and Saturn in Sagittarius. The weather may be blustery and raw, but we might feel as if we can take on anything and everything today. As the famous Marvin Gaye, Tammy Terrell duet sang in the pop classic:
“…ain’t no mountain high enough,
Ain’t no valley low enough,
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting…”
Saturday, February 21st – Bound for Glory – Mercury, Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. We could be fast out of the gate on this Saturday. We might feel as though we have gained a second wind thanks to all the Aries and Fire energy operating right now. Today’s Moon in Aries sextiles Mercury, the Moon creates a Fire Grand Trine with the Aries Moon trine Saturn in Sagittarius and the Moon trine Jupiter in Leo, and the Moon triggers the Uranus Pluto square with the Moon conjunct Uranus and the Moon square Pluto. This Saturday could be one high-energy day. Not only do we want to address our ‘to do’ list of errands and matters pressing for attention. We also want to have time to be spontaneous, do whatever catches our fancy and engage the new and the different. We could easily wear ourselves out today with all sorts of running around, whether our running is physical or figurative, with our mind racing with all sorts of options and all kinds of possibilities. We are not looking to be held back and may be more insistent on pushing through whatever impediments might stand in our way. We could be so enthralled with being in the moment that even plans made before today may seem a commitment too many. Let’s not be surprised if we decide to break our plans and change our trajectory for the day. With so much going on, we could virtually exhaust ourselves by the end of the day. We might have a last hurrah in the evening hours, a sort of crescendo to the day’s activities, but we are likely to intend Sunday to definitely be a day of rest or not have so much on our plate. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twenty-four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus late on Sunday.
Sunday, February 22nd – All About Me – Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Mars. Sunday continues with the Aries Moon that went Void-of-Course late Saturday with the Aries Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus late today. There is no Lunar energy really operating today, and we might take that as an indication that after a most adventurous and energetic week into the weekend, we are using this Sunday to catch our breath or just get out of Dodge. Venus does conjunct Mars today. Our social interactions, if we have any, may be quite pleasant so long as they are all about ‘me’ [not me specifically, but each one of us personally]. This Sunday could have each of us being slightly, or more so, narcissistic. Considerations for other people’s interest can dwarf in comparison to our own personal interests. This may be a day for us to find an audience of receptive listeners [are there any out there?] in order for us to regale them with some of our plans, our escapades and our experiences. The only excitement today is whatever captures our fancy and addresses our personal interests.
