This week is the last week of Autumn, and the season may go out with a bang. Slaloming between head-banging poles this week may necessitate our ability at doing the tai chi moves on skis, able to quickly navigate with incredible finesse the various moguls along our week’s course.
The week begins with our long-running nemesis, Uranus Pluto square, exact. Unexpected situations can arise forcing us to alter our scheduled plans. We might feel as if our choices are being limited by our responsibilities or other enforced restrictions. Let’s keep in mind that this Uranus Pluto square is removing debris from our lives, those areas that might have been significant in our past, not so much now and less so in our future.
As the week proceeds with various starts and stops, twists and turns, the emphasis shifts from merely being ‘good time Charlies’ towards our goals, our ambitions and what we want to do with our lives. Mercury exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn and Mercury creates a Stellium in the Cardinal Earth Sign as Mercury joins Venus and Pluto in Capricorn. We may be looking less at the sheer joy of holiday festivities and taking into account more what our involvements are likely to do on our behalf and for our future aims.
The mid-week period can be pleasant, even if our focus tends to be on essence, substance and the core of our activities rather than the decorative fluff that makes up much of the holiday events.
The end of the week and the weekend is a time when we may be making our list, checking it twice to see what we intend to be rid of and what we want to concentrate on in our days ahead. Interesting encounters with new contacts might provide us a mirror as to how we could have changed, how our sense of ourselves and what we intend to do in our future have shifted, even if ever so slightly.
The weekend closes out with the Winter Solstice, as the Sun exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn ushering in the Winter Season. The Capricorn New Moon heralds the two-week period to close out the year and begin our new year of 2015.
Monday, December 15th – All in It Together – Venus, Mars, Uranus, Pluto. There’s an old saying that states: “Misery loves company”. I always add an addendum to that statement: “Just don’t make it your company.” Monday starts the week with the Libra Moon square Venus and the Moon trine Mars. Uranus squares Pluto. Should I repeat that last sentence? Uranus squares Pluto. This is a day when we might be more engaged with quirky characters that add some spice to life. We may feel obligated by our responsibilities to certain people that we assume to be parade rainers when compared to interesting new contacts. Any way we slice it, we’re all in this thing together. The nemesis of our past couple of years, Uranus square Pluto, is exact today. We have seen major corporations go under, governments capitulate and various other earthquakes both geophysical and societal with our lives being at times collateral damage to the upsets occurring in the world-at-large. This is a day when an unexpected event could make us feel that terra firma is anything but firma. Whatever we have planned for this day may have to be altered or postponed due to unexpected situations arising. We might want to move forward in new directions today, but in doing so we may have to be nimble and quick and avoid being tripped up by our routine obligations and other people’s expectations. This is a day for us to fully engage two of the keywords of these times: awareness and mindfulness.
Tuesday, December 16th – Squeezing Through the Eye of the Needle – Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Pluto, Jupiter, Mercury Capricorn. Tuesday continues with the influence of the Uranus Pluto square — as if we have ever been free and clear of its influence over the past couple of years. Like tidal action, this Uranus Pluto square ebbs and then flows, although the flows can be more tsunami-like than gentle flows. Tuesday has the Libra Moon triggering a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Uranus and the Moon squares Pluto. Monday and Tuesday could have us surfing the waves and trying to avoid being wiped out with consequent body slams. Someone might throw some monkey wrenches into the spokes of our wheels. We may have to respond spontaneously and immediately to unexpected scenarios, all the while keeping our cool. As the day progresses, the Moon sextiles Jupiter and the evening hours could have us enjoying the company of people we care about, taking in holiday festivities and parties. We may feel as if we had dodged a bullet, escaped the grips of unanticipated variables and been able to effectively squeeze through the eye of the needle. Late Tuesday, early Wednesday, Mercury exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn, thereby creating a Stellium of three or more planets in Capricorn as Mercury joins Venus and Pluto in the Cardinal Earth Sign. We may get far more serious about our goals and ambitions. Our thoughts can revolve around creating a best practices approach by which we can advance our interests. With the Uranus Pluto square still in play for several more months, it would be wise for us to jot down our plans in pencil with a large eraser in order to shift and change as circumstances and conditions change.
Wednesday, December 17th – Lighting the Candles – Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Neptune. After two days that may have had us rocking and rolling, Wednesday seems a great deal more pleasant, even tranquil in comparison. The day begins with the Libra Moon sextile the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over nine hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before entering Scorpio where today the Moon sextiles Mercury and the Moon trines Neptune. With the hurly-burly of the past two days we might have forgotten someone or not paid enough attention to someone. This Wednesday is a day for us to make amends. We can be incredibly gracious, cover many bases and even reach out to those people whom we have yet to contact during these holidays. We may also feel the true spirit of these holidays celebrating as they do the forthcoming Winter Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. For each and every one of us, we can take a moment, even a brief interlude, during the frenzy of these holidays to remember the true essence of these holidays — that light is born in the darkness and the light once lit is inextinguishable. This is a day for us to touch our spirit and engage our soul, to focus on the truly important in our lives and joyously celebrate the true essence of our being.
Thursday, December 18th – Step by Step – Venus, Mars, Pluto. Thursday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today sextile both Venus and Pluto and the Moon square Mars. Although we might prefer to turn our attention to future plans and social gatherings, this is also a day for us to spend some time clearing the decks and preparing to concentrate on the most meaningful aspects of our lives. We might want to launch forward with new projects and new ideas, but it would be wise for us to get rid of some of the clutter that could only foul up our plans. We can focus our intentions, come up with a best practices methodology, all the while that we are sorting through and eliminating the dross. Instead of trying to leap forward today, a step by step approach guarantees sure-footedness and covering all the details as we move ahead. We may draw upon a trusted associate to critique and evaluate our actions and our decisions.
Friday, December 19th – From Side to Side – Jupiter, Saturn. The Scorpio Moon on this Friday squares Jupiter and the Moon conjuncts Saturn. We may find ourselves going from one extreme to another. We start the day in an expansive mood, broadening our reach and lavish in our praise and actions. We have to be wary that we don’t walk ourselves too far out on a limb, for as the day progresses we might discover that we have overcommitted and willing to be generous in the extreme. We could also find ourselves being restricted by our finances, unable to fully accomplish that which we started out this day to achieve. Our mood swings today could go from highly buoyant to severely depressed. Today is a day for us to try and maintain balance of our emotions and our actions. Otherwise, we might find ourselves swinging from side to side, banging our heads against one thing or another. This is a day for us to hew closely to the advice of: ‘moderation in all things’.
Saturday, December 20th – Anywhere But Here – Neptune, Mars, Uranus, Mercury, Venus, Pluto. Saturday may be the dark side of the Moon before tomorrow’s New Moon, but this day is anything but quiet and placid. On the contrary, we might feel as though we stepped into a dream, or could it be a nightmare? This Saturday is one highly active day, with various twists and turns, unexpected situations arising, and a little crazy-making in the process. The Moon is in Sagittarius today with the Moon square Neptune, the Moon sextile Mars and the Moon trine Uranus. Mercury sextiles Neptune. Venus triggers the Uranus Pluto square with Venus square Uranus and Venus conjunct Pluto. Mars sextiles Uranus. We could be all over the place today. It would be best for us to trust our intuition and gut responses, for what we believe and are led to believe may be contrary to the reality of situations. If we have plans for this Saturday, we may scotch them in favor of spontaneous, impulsive decisions. Our relationships could prove dicey, and we might be far more interested in new quirky characters entering our lives than the stable, reliable people we have come to depend upon. If anyone tries to make us conform to a certain line or schedule, we are likely to rebel and do our own thing, acting impetuously and with immediacy and without considering the consequences of our actions. In order to avoid flare-ups, let’s make people aware that any plans made need to be tentative and that we have to keep our schedule open for unanticipated variables.
Sunday, December 21st – In the Heart of Darkness – Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus direct, Winter Solstice, Sun Capricorn, Capricorn New Moon, Sun. Sunday begins with the Sagittarius Moon trine Jupiter. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost thirteen hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before entering Capricorn. Uranus turns direct and the Sun exits Sagittarius to bring an end to the Autumn season, and the Sun enters Capricorn at the time of the Winter Solstice and the beginning of the Winter Season. The Capricorn Moon conjuncts the Sun in Capricorn at the time of the Capricorn New Moon. This day is truly a day of new beginnings. In the Northern Hemisphere, this day represents the darkest day of the year. From here, the daylight grows stronger until the Summer Solstice, the longest day of daylight in the year. We may be ready for new beginnings. With this day putting its imprint on the winter season and the next fortnight, we can now focus on our true purpose and tend to our goals and our ambitions. With the Sun’s entry into Capricorn, the Capricorn Stellium of three or more planets is enhanced with the Sun joining Mercury, Venus and Pluto in the Cardinal Earth Sign. Although these recent times have challenged us with various twists and turns, they have also strengthened us and developed our skill set to forge ahead with our plans and our goals, hopefully all with a greater degree of humility. This is a day for us to celebrate in the recognition that no matter how difficult things may get, no matter how dark the landscape of our lives might seem, the natural process has the glimmer of light even in the heart of darkness growing in strength to full brilliance to dispel the darkness and reveal us shining in the light. Happy Solstice!
