December 1st – 7th, 2014

This week is the first week of December and starts with a thrust of energy. We are in holiday mode looking to gifting ourselves and spreading good cheer with everyone one else around.

This is a week when we can be generous to a fault with a little [?!] self-indulgence for ourselves. And why not? It’s holiday time, and we have been geared and conditioned to shop for bargains, shop for friends and just shop for almost anything. We can certainly justify it by saying that we are helping the economy, especially in the US where the Gross Domestic Product is 70% consumer driven.

We may be filled with holiday cheer during this week. The redundancy of the month-long holiday songs, sweet jingles and seductive slogans has yet to wear on our nerves. They are still fresh and new and a welcome relief to escape from the mundane realities.

We may feel energized to begin the week. Perhaps we have had several days of down time due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Some people may have taken off on the Tuesday to avoid the inclement weather in some parts of the country on Wednesday and this past Friday was black Friday, a day of ‘spectacular sales’ that has seeped into the day before [Thanksgiving Day] and rocketed beyond the national borders into many other countries around the world.

The early part of this week can have us upbeat and unwilling to let anything bring us down. The feel good energy may be contagious with most people, even perhaps the Grinch types, raining sunshine and good feelings on their friends, colleagues and loved ones. What can be better than a little euphoria this time of year?

As the song in the musical Mame affirms:
‘For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute,’

Whether we do Christmas or not, we are certainly filled with good spirits and may be caught up in the sentiments of these holidays.

The mid-part of the week can put a twist to our holiday plans, as we consider alternatives to our traditional ways of celebration. We might decide on an extravaganza, a flurry of fun events or travels to far-flung places and engaging a new coterie of friends.

Whatever we schedule for these holidays, it would be wise that we do so in pencil with a large eraser. Our impulse for spontaneous activities and responding to immediate conditions can be strong and we could find ourselves altering long-made plans for something that comes up and catches our fancy.

The latter part of the week and the weekend can be a flurry of activities. We may have our plate full with various get-togethers, and we might find ourselves going from one thing to another, never staying too long in any one place, before heading off in another direction.

The end of the weekend may have us catching our breath, sitting back and recharging our batteries in the comfort of home, sweet home.

Monday, December 1st – Advancing Without Scraping the Shoals – Mercury, Sun, Pluto, Uranus, Mars, Saturn. Monday starts the week with us in top form. Perhaps we were able to rest up over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Or we might have enjoyed the initial holiday shopping frenzy and been able to tune out our usual tasks and obligations. Whatever has increased our tempo or reenergized us, we may be fast out of the starting gate on this Monday. The Moon in Aries today trines Mercury and the Moon trines the Sun. Later in the day, the Moon squares Pluto and the Moon conjuncts Uranus. Mars sextiles Saturn. We can start this week in a highly expansive and enthusiastic manner. We may be very adept at navigating the rapids and also avoiding the shoals, and shoals there may well be later in the day. Although we are far more interested in doing what we want to do when we want to do it today, certain demands may be placed upon us especially as we come to the latter part of the day. Let’s keep in mind that old ways may no longer work and new ways, more streamlined ways, may be far more effective. Even if we run up against some impediments today, we shall have the courage, the optimism and the sense to deal with them according to the needs of the circumstances and not based upon our old habit patterns. We can accomplish a great deal by staying in the moment and not being bound by our past.

Tuesday, December 2nd – Flying High – Lunar Grand Trine, Venus, Jupiter, Mars. Tuesday can truly be a primo day, if we don’t lose our itinerary, our direction or get sucked into the turbines by our irrational exuberance. Today, the Aries Moon creates a Grand Trine with the Moon trine Venus in Sagittarius and the Moon trine Jupiter in Leo. The Moon squares Mars. This Tuesday is a day when we can be flying high. We may not have a care in the world. We might embrace indulgence and be seduced by the ‘feel good’ attitude permeating the airwaves. While an upbeat disposition can be contagious and inspiring, let’s not lose our due diligence as to what is truly going on around us. Under these energies, we could live for the day, spend too much, eat too much and just involve ourselves with… too much. And we might ask ourselves: why not? After all, these recent times have not always been a walk in the park for us. On the contrary, we may have had times of stubbing our toes, scraping our knees and feeling like we’ve been thrown down the stairwell. Having a high on today can be exhilarating and may take us away from our daily concerns. That’s all well and good, but we need to be sure that we don’t lose sight of our daily mundane realities. And late today, we could get a heads-up regarding some of our usual responsibilities. We might feel that we are being brought down to earth, but it’s merely a blip on the screen and a slight hiccup to our intoxicated feeling. Let’s party on.

Wednesday, December 3rd – Getting a Grip – Neptune, Pluto. This week can be a week of marvelous delights. Caught up in the holiday spirits, we can swing high without many lows as a counter balance. While the early part of the week had a focus on aggravated self-interests, the mid-part of this week allows us to put our energy into practical application. Much of what we have gathered, acquired and begun over the past few days can now be put into effective use. Wednesday has the Moon in Taurus with the Taurus Moon today sextile Neptune and the Moon trine Pluto. Our intuitive sense may be heightened and we may have a feeling about what goes where and how best to proceed. Our aesthetic sense is highly attuned today and we can create fascinating impressions, all the while that we are focused laser-like on what needs to be done. This is one of those days when substance is reflected clearly by image. There are no contradictions, merely a concentration on the most meaningful presented in a highly seductive manner. Whether they are our holiday decorations, our personal appearance or our daily activities, today is a day when we can hone in on the essence of a situation and make it appear warm and cuddly and ever so appealing.

Thursday, December 4th – Better Yet – Jupiter, Venus, Sun, Uranus, Mars Aquarius. Magic is afoot on this Thursday and we are likely to be loving it. The Taurus Moon squares Jupiter, Venus trines Jupiter, the Sun trines Uranus and Mars exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. This is a day we could become intoxicated by the holiday spirits. We are likely to be feeling upbeat with a window on the world of options and alternatives that we don’t always see for ourselves. This is a day when we can get beyond our usual mutterings and anxious concerns and see the possibilities of a different life for ourselves — better days, brighter ways. Things may seem unreal today, but the lack of reality might in truth be that we have taken off the blinders that narrow our vision and now allow us peripheral vision, the ability to look all around, to see realms of which we have not previously been aware. We could feel as if we have stepped across the transom into a different dimension, a territory where the new paradigm of serendipity and synchronicity are ordinary occurrences. It would be wise for us to keep our antennae up, be open to receive, and notate the mini-miracles occurring in our lives. Over the past few weeks, my wife and I have been struck by the daily synchronistic happenings we have witnessed and experienced. They may not have been earth-shaking, but these incidents have affirmed the interesting phase of this cycle in our lives — random things happening in parallel and unique patterns, the serendipity of being in the right place at the right time. This time of year is also a time when the veil between dimensions lessens. It is a time when spirit descends upon the earth plane and allows us to accept the magic and miracles in our life journey. We just have to have our eyes and ears open. This week is a perfect example of the breakdown of dimensions, the letting go of the restrictions of old formats and the ability to engage the wonder of it all.

Friday, December 5th – Untethered – Saturn, Mars, Neptune, Mercury, Uranus. Friday begins with the Taurus Moon opposed Saturn. The Moon then moves into Gemini where today the Moon trines Mars and the Moon squares Neptune. Following on the heels of yesterday’s Sun trine Uranus, today Mercury trines Uranus. As we come to the end of this week, we might wonder whether we have overdone it on some of our slight indulgences. We may feel that we have stretched our budget and put a dent into our financial resources by getting caught up in the hyperactivity of holiday shopping. Even if we feel emotionally drained as we start the day, our energy can shift dramatically, especially as we become privy to some exciting news and thrilling surprises. Thursday and Friday are days when we may find ourselves walking through a wonderland of unexpected situations and magical moments. We may bump into new connections or reconnections and the sense of six degrees of separation can be strong today. Our thoughts may be crystal clear with some interesting ah-has and revelatory awareness. Whatever we have planned for this weekend can take a fascinating trajectory away from our scheduled activities. It would be far better for us to be open to spontaneity, a willingness to alter our plans and take a far different direction triggered by unanticipated circumstances. The magic is in the moment, and our enjoyment is going along for the ride.

Saturday, December 6th – Here, There, Everywhere, Anywhere – Uranus, Mercury, Gemini Full Moon, Sun, Jupiter. This week may have been a highly active and exciting week, especially in regard to some wondrous surprises along the way. Saturday seems to crescendo this thrilling time of new and unusual happenings. Saturday continues with the Gemini Moon with the Moon today sextile Uranus, the Moon opposed Mercury, the Gemini Full Moon with the Moon opposed the Sun and the Moon sextile Jupiter. We may feel pulled in different directions today. If we could engage it all by doing a little bit here, something slightly there and yet covering all the bases everywhere and anywhere, then we would embrace the full advantage of this day. Like a little child we could be in awe and wonder of the possibilities that spring up on this Saturday. We may be in high gear today, and the joy will be in the sampling of many varied things. The main thing today is engaging many rather than concentrating on a few. This is a high energy day, a day of juggling many varied balls in the air but one that diffuses focus in preference for the impressionistic. Let’s enjoy the gestalt and not get lost in the specifics.

Sunday, December 7th – Spiritual Retreat – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune. Sunday has the Gemini Moon opposed Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over seven and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters its own Sign of Cancer, where today the Moon trines Neptune. We may have been so involved in the experiences of the magical moments of this passing week that we had little chance to reflect and consider what went on for us. We were certainly engrossed in the optimism and confidence we might have felt and may have engaged any number of fun activities in the holiday spirit. Sunday is a day when we might catch our breath, take some time to sit by the home fires burning and reflect on the true meaning of these holidays — spirit awakening, a soulful time to contemplate where we have been, what we are doing and where we are going. Sunday allows us a brief interlude in the holidays frenzy and gives us the opportunity to enjoy the sanctity of our happy place.
