This week is the first full week of August, and a week when we are seeking to squeeze out as much summertime fun as we possibly can.
We are determined not to let the summer slip away, even though the sounds and signs of the approaching autumn are all around us.
The week begins with our emotions being a little taut. Has the bloom come off the rose? While equity and housing markets have signaled a recovery indicating that ‘happy days are here again’, for many of us the hard cold reality has been that prices have been going up while our revenue stream has been like the Sargasso Sea, stagnant. At the start of the week, we may question our resources, consider our budget and look at our debt structure.
Even if we are anxious about our bills and the increasing pinch on our finances by rising food costs and increased costs of other essentials, we are willing to slip back into oblivious denial during the mid-week period. It’s summer after all, time to engage in recreational activities and pleasurable pursuits. This is not a time for us to get all worked up about what is really going on. We could make ourselves crazy if we were to focus on the goings-on in the world and seriously look at our future financial condition, especially with the apparent wealth appreciation of our assets suddenly not in the upward trajectory that we have seen since the depths of ‘the great recession’.
The mid-week period is for FUN, capitalized, accentuated and fully engaged. We can tune out the blather around us and instead engage our whims and our desires. We might not consider the costs involved, for we are embracing the attitude of ‘live for today’.
The end of the week can bear witness to the magic of these times. Unexpected situations could put a smile on our face, as new directions and new possibilities are revealed to us in a most surprising manner. Hooray for the paradigm shift! It offers us the ‘get out of jail free’ card, or at least the possibility that hard cold reality can be dissipated to the magic and miracles of these times.
Ratcheting up the fun quotient during the middle and latter part of the week can leave us exhausted over the weekend. We may have our social commitments to fulfill, and we could be covering any number of bases no matter how fatigued we might be. The weekend comes to a close with a crescendo as the Aquarius Full Moon reminds us of the old saying: ‘if you dance to the music, you pay to the piper.’
The volatility is increased this week, and we just have to make sure that enjoying ourselves during the week doesn’t leave us with a nasty hangover and a large bar tab over the weekend.
Monday, August 4th – Not a Manic Monday – Saturn, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday can start the week with us a little hesitant to stepping out. The Scorpio Moon today conjuncts Saturn and the Moon trines Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for sixteen and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before entering Sagittarius tomorrow. We may begin this day highly emotional, feeling put upon and acting as if we are having to react to the vagaries of everything and everyone around us. If we could hide out on this Monday, we might prefer to do so. We might not be feeling energized or even capable of getting out of bed. This may be a slow-starting day, if we start this day at all. We do need to watch our moods today, for our sensitivity is highly attuned with a tendency towards a disposition of seeing the half glass of water as half empty rather than half full. As the day gets going, we may gather a little bit of steam thanks to someone giving us their love and support, and also telling us to buck up. We might use this encouragement to straighten up around our home and spend quality time with a family member. What energy there is today, from a heaviness to start the day to an uplift from someone we love, is all tinged with maudlin sentimentality. The tears may flow, tears of sadness, tear of gratitude, but the energy dies down even further as the day progresses. We could find ourselves waiting for tomorrow’s morning sun in order to get a shot of adrenaline and engage a feel good attitude.
Tuesday, August 5th – The Pendulum Swings – Jupiter, Neptune. After yesterday’s hand-wringing and feeling sorry for ourselves, this Tuesday is like the light at the end of the tunnel, the clouds parting and the sun shining through. Hallelujah! The Moon moves into Sagittarius where today the Moon trines Jupiter and the Moon squares Neptune. These times are highly volatile with wide swings between exuberance and despair. Unfortunately, these times are times when the swings can be extreme from irrational exuberance to utter desolation. Yesterday, we might have experienced the latter, with us feeling victim of and even prey to the exaggerated variables of the circumstances and conditions around us. This Tuesday could flip us to the former, an optimism and confidence that allows us a sense of being able to move mountains. Whether we escape our mundane realities by journeying to far distances or we shake off the blues to engage some fun activities, we are feeling upbeat and able to stretch our wings. Like Icarus, we might be tempted to fly too close to the sun and then we could fall mightily. A tendency towards over-exuberance can lead us down the brambled path of illusions and delusions. We could easily fool ourselves that all is right in our world without using our due diligence to consider what is truly going on. During these times of wide emotional swings, let’s keep in mind the middle path of Buddhism, try to maintain our balance and engage detachment from our emotional stirrings.
Wednesday, August 6th – Soaking in the Radiance – Lunar Grand Trine, Mercury, Sun, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday could prove to be one stellar day. The Sagittarius Moon triggers a Fire Grand Trine with the Moon trine both Mercury and the Sun in Leo, and the Moon trine Uranus in Aries. This is a day when we might feel as though we are roaming around heaven all day. Our creativity may be at a peak and everything may seem to be going our way. With our breadth of vision and upbeat attitude, we may feel inspired and open to the magic and miracles of these times. This is a day when things could easily fall into our lap, wonderful surprises coming out of the blue, with us feeling like we’re in seventh heaven. Whatever we have going on today, we can expand our involvements and be open to receive some interesting new opportunities. Evidence of the paradigm shift whereby we do not have to control or master situations but rather be open to the serendipity and synchronicity of these times could be all around us. We just have to have our antennae up, work with peripheral vision and believe that even the impossible nowadays may not only be possible but also quite likely. Let’s enjoy the day, luxuriate in the radiance of the goodness of the universe and appreciate the differences between the old paradigm of control and manipulation and the new paradigm of unanticipated variables and asequential unfolding. After a flurry of good news and inspired feelings, the energy dies down as the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over twenty-two and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon moves into Capricorn tomorrow.
Thursday, August 7th – Do You Believe in Magic – Neptune, Mars. Drawing upon our inspired, feel good attitude of yesterday, this Thursday is a day when we can put our spirit into action. Today, the Moon moves into Capricorn where the Moon sextiles Neptune and the Moon sextiles Mars. Mars trines Neptune. We can draw upon our intuitive sense and a best practices approach to accomplish a great deal today. Things can fall neatly into place, and we might realize that we are getting more done in a shorter period of time than usual. Let’s not over think this day, for the magic lies in drawing upon what feels right in the moment. We are interested in advancing our interests and our projects today. We can be highly effective by cutting to the core and doing things in the most expeditious ways. This is a day for us to be guided by our inner voice, our ‘feelings’ about things and trusting our instincts. We may want to pare down on our activities, focus on those things that have the most significance to us and not be distracted by the opinions or input of other people. We know what we’re doing, know where we are going and we can take some giant strides today in achieving our desired goals. This mid-week period can seem almost magical, in fact even getting rid of the ‘almost’.
Friday, August 8th – Dawning of Alternatives – Pluto, Uranus, Saturn, Sun, Mercury, Uranus. If we thought we were going to slide into the weekend on this Friday, we might as well forget about it. This Friday has the energy ramping up with us active participants on the magical mystery tour of the new paradigm. This Friday is one exciting day, but we might have to leave a lot of the comfort zone of our complacency and the familiar behind. Today might have a tug-of-war between old and new, but there is not much question as to the outcome. This high energy day has the Capricorn Moon conjunct Pluto, the Moon square Uranus and the Moon sextile Saturn. The Sun conjuncts Mercury and both the Sun and Mercury trine Uranus. Mercury squares Saturn. We may have to do our tai chi moves to twist and turn to the rhythm of this day. Fortunately, the day can be somewhat multi-dimensional. We might feel forced to comply with the prerogatives of our routine and the standards of our milieu. But lying in wait within ourselves is the rebel, with or without cause. Friday is a day that can open a window to possibilities, prospects and even the impossible seemingly not only possible but downright practical. This is a day for us to let go of our expectations and open the window to the wonder of it all. We may get some wonder-filled insights with unexpected situations arising. Even if we are tied to our responsibilities, then we can find a slip knot to get beyond our usual expectations and engage a most marvelous journey into the surreal. The more we can let go of structure, format and regularity; the more we can embrace the kaleidoscope of unexpected situations and unanticipated variables. This is one day when we need to be certain that we do NOT get in our own way. Magic is afoot and the universe is working at an exponentially accelerating speed.
Saturday, August 9th – Stuck in the Muddle – Venus, Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Saturn. Saturday starts with the Capricorn Moon opposed Venus. The Moon then moves into Aquarius where the Moon today triggers a Fixed Sign T-square as the Aquarius Moon opposes Jupiter in Leo and the Moon squares Mars in Scorpio. The Sun squares Saturn. After a week that seemed to provide a bonanza of unexpected surprises and thrilling events, Saturday may feel like we are stuck in neutral or even stuck in the muddle. We may have grand plans for this day, especially in light of the wonders of the past three days, but trying to do anything, get anywhere on this Saturday could be as slow as molasses. While things may have seemed so easy over the past few days, today feels more like a tangle with everything taking longer than we might like. We could be exhausted by the push – pulls on this Saturday. We might feel that our plans are being blocked at every twist and turn. No matter what we try to do, it could feel like we are rolling a boulder up a mountain with the consequent effect of the boulder rolling back on top of us. This is a day for us to take things slowly, whether we choose to do so or the universe decides for us. Let’s keep in mind that there are times when things are incredibly effortless, such as we might have experienced the past three days, other times when whatever we do seems to fly back into our face. Today might prove more like the latter.
Sunday, August 10th – Every Which Way But Loose – Uranus, Lunar T-Square, Aquarius Full Moon, Saturn, Sun, Mercury. Sunday has the Aquarius Moon sextile Uranus and the Aquarius Full Moon creating a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon square Saturn and the Moon opposed both the Sun and Mercury. After a week that could have been adventure-packed with us realizing some remarkable insights, enjoying grand adventures and possibly even finding the needle in the haystack; this weekend could prove a bit of a downer. While things were going so easily and so smoothly, and even more so if we did not get in our own way, this weekend seems to have us banging and crashing against one thing or another. Our plans may go awry, and our future intentions could find resistance, either by our routine obligations or by our lack of resources. Suddenly, the bloom can come off the rose, and we could even feel disheartened. This blow to our optimism could dampen our prospects and our plans. It would be wise for us not to get caught into the old mind games or ego traps or our habitual patterns of behavior. If we would think outside the box, be open to the magic of these times and entertain the possibilities of dramatic change in our lives, then we may find that, no matter the impediments or the restrictions or our responsibilities, life unfolds in a most mysterious manner, and the hoped-for changes come about and our dreams can in deed come true.
