August 11th – 17th, 2014

This is a week when we may feel betwixt and between. We might have the sense that summer is drawing to a close and the time is approaching for us to get back on the track of our regular routine.

The week begins with us feeling a little misty about things. We would prefer to get off the track rather than back on the track, and if we could find a summer escape, no matter how brief it might be, we would be especially happy to do so. We may find ourselves putting some of our summer activities on the back burner, as we begin to think of the approaching autumn. Cleaning up, clearing out can all be part of the first days of this week. We want to take care of what needs to be done before we step back on the fast track of our rapid, fully-engaged ‘normal’ lives.

The mid-week could have us rebellious to the impending responsibilities with a desire to cast our fate to the winds, put on hold any demands upon us and do whatever catches our fancy. We do not want to be regulated by our responsibilities, our obligations or our daily tasks. Restrictions and limitations are not us. If imposed upon, we are likely to bristle against the expectations and do whatever we choose to do. Let’s see this mid-week period as a respite, a time to catch our breath, step away from what we need to do in order to see whether what we are doing really serves us or is but a habitual pattern engrained by society’s conditions.

The end of the week and the weekend can have us in high gear. We might consider shopping trips in preparation of our autumn schedule. We do need to be wary of budgetary concerns, not to overspend or get caught up in the shopping frenzy of getting ready for the Fall.

This week can have us all over the place, both literally and figuratively. We may have one foot in the summer, looking to grab some final moments of summertime fun, and our other foot in our preparation for the autumn and getting back on track. We may feel betwixt and between this week, but we could also see this week as a very broad palette colored by different emotions, various activities, and a shifting of our focus.

Monday, August 11th – Misty Monday Morning – Neptune, Mars. Monday has the Moon exiting Aquarius to enter Pisces. We could find ourselves very moody as we start the week. The Moon today conjuncts Neptune and the Moon trines Mars. Our emotions are ratcheted up, and we might find ourselves swaying from one thing to another but without any great commitment and possibly without getting a whole lot done. Whether we are on vacation or not, we could have the tendency to tune out to everyday mundane affairs, go off to our happy place and not feel impelled to do much at all today. We may feel confused about what to do, how to do it, and far more willing to go with the flow than to battle upstream. Late in the day, we could get a thrust of energy but with the focus on clearing away things, cleaning up matters and stripping away some of the fog and illusions we might have earlier entertained.

Tuesday, August 12th – Pedal to the Metal – Pluto, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus Leo. Late Monday night, early Tuesday morning we might get a major push to straighten things up, get things in order. The first part of this Tuesday can have us attending to business. The Pisces Moon sextiles Pluto and the Moon trines Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twenty-one hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries tomorrow. Venus exits Cancer today to enter Leo. On the one hand, we may be dealing with our routine responsibilities, but we may not want to stay with what needs to be done for too long. Although the pull can be to get our house in order in preparation of stepping back on track, we are unwilling to totally let the summer go. If we can squeeze more fun out of the summertime, we are determined to do so. We could be making plans with friends and partners to cap off our summer season with some thrilling events. Parties, social gatherings and excursions can all be in the works, at least in the planning stages. This Tuesday is a day for us to bring completion to outstanding matters, deal expeditiously with what we need to get done and then put other things on the back burner as we look to be free and clear to do whatever we want to do over the next few days and on the weekend.

Wednesday, August 13th – Hear Me Roar – Venus, Jupiter. The two ‘good guys’ of the Zodiac, Venus and Jupiter, are both transiting Leo and today both are being trined by the Moon moving into Aries. This is a day when we could find our voice and shout our needs and our desires from the highest rooftop. There is little accommodation to other people’s interests today. On the contrary, we want to do our thing, express our creativity and put on a grand show for all to see. As long as we are engaged with the Mutual Admiration Society, there may be no problems doing our thing, getting our way. Everyone may be in his or her own personal spotlight, and we can all glow like a thousand stars in the solar system. We might be impetuous today, feeling exuberant and optimistic and confident, looking at the half glass of water as half full rather than half empty. This Wednesday can be a great day, but we might also be a little extravagant and excessive in our presentations and in our generosity. We may not mind the indulgences just as long as we are getting compliments and adoration for who we are and what we do.

Thursday, August 14th – Bumping Up Against It – Pluto, Uranus, Sun. Thursday could have us pushing the envelope, being a law unto ourselves. We do not want to bang up against any naysayers or those who would try to get in our way. And that could prove the rub. We may be so intoxicated with our own self-appreciation that we lose sight of the conditions and circumstances around us. The Aries Moon today squares Pluto, the Moon conjuncts Uranus and the Moon trines the Sun. Even if we have certain scheduled events today, we may be in a mood whereby if our plans don’t coincide with our personal interests at the moment, we may negate what we are supposed to do for that which we would prefer to do. This Thursday we could be operating from our impetuous selves. We could easily justify our attitude as ‘being in the moment’, but in truth it could be our own willfulness deciding to do whatever we damn well please and engage whatever captures our fancy. We may be far more interested in having fun than dealing with our regular tasks. The better choice for this day is to deal with our pressing matters early in the day, clear the decks of any necessary issues and then later in the day take a powder and do whatever we might wish to do.

Friday, August 15th – Tap on the Shoulder – Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Mars, Pluto, Mercury Virgo. As if we need any reminder that summer is ticking down into autumn, this Friday could provide it. The day begins with the Aries Moon trine Mercury, just prior to Mercury exiting Leo to enter its own Sign of Virgo. The Moon then moves into Taurus where today the Moon squares Venus and the Moon sextiles Neptune. In addition, Mars sextiles Pluto. This can be one highly active day, a day when we might feel as though we need to consider our preparations for the autumn ahead. Today and over the weekend, we may plan shopping sprees, purchasing the important supplies, considering our Fall wardrobe and even having a personal makeover. We do have to watch our expenditures today, for we could be loose with our credit card, willing to buy, buy, buy without any thought as to the costs of our purchases. The sense of ‘out with the old, in with the new’ might not be merely the sense of the impending change of seasons. We may also decide to make room for new things by means of getting rid of old things. A cleanout could be in order as we choose to re-identify ourselves by eliminating things that we believe to be outmoded and no longer fitting our new sense of ourselves and not in tune with where we want to go in the future.

Saturday, August 16th – Costly Expenditures – Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Pluto. Saturday continues with the Taurus Moon with the Moon trine Pluto and the Moon triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Jupiter in Leo and the Moon opposes both Mars and Saturn in Scorpio. This is a day when we might realize that our desires were greater than our needs. We may have dug ourselves into a bigger financial hole by reason of impulsive buying, a behavior that we tried to justify as preparing ourselves for the year ahead. While there can be delays today and levels of frustration operating, this is also a day when we need to get a grip on budgeting, looking at both our expenses and our revenue stream and seeing where we might be able to pare down on our expenditures. While the government economists affirm that there is no inflation, shopping for groceries and comparison of fuel prices to a few years ago would indicate that our basic necessities are costing more now than in times past with little offset by income increases. We may be conflicted by our desires for immediate gratification and our recognition that we should attempt to save more for a rainy day. It might not be storming now, but it’s a precarious position for so many people to be living paycheck to paycheck with little put away for contingencies. Today is a day when we could start to put our house in order, do a good late summer clean out, and concentrate on how we can better engage life through a best practices approach.

Sunday, August 17th – Time Out – Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Sunday has the Taurus Moon square the Sun before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over ten hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini later in the day. With one foot in our summertime activities and one foot getting back on track of our regular routine, we might use this Sunday to focus on strategizing our plans. We may want to bring closure to some of our summertime involvements, wrap up loose ends, all the while that our thoughts are increasingly focused on the autumn ahead. For some people, school may be starting. For others, the nip in the evening air can be an insistent reminder that the heat of the summer night is waning and the cool of autumn fast approaching. This is a day when we could regroup, give thought to where we have been and acknowledge that the summer allowed us a brief respite, even if only in our mental meanderings, from our habitual patterns. We can see what baggage of our past we want to bring into the year ahead and what we want to leave behind. Summer may be coming to a speedy close, but we can use this time to give thought as to what we might choose to engage going forward and what we might wish to eliminate from our lives. There may not be a great deal of energy on this Sunday, but we can mentally prepare ourselves for the ending of one phase and the beginning of yet another.
