July 28th – August 3rd, 2014

As we begin this week, people might be feeling on edge, being hypercritical, finding fault and playing the blame game.

This is a week when we may be looking to cut through the fog of images, presentations and appearances. As though doubting anyone and everyone, we could be concentrating on the specifics and the particulars. We want to see inside the contents instead of just admiring the pretty package.

The early part of this week allows us to strip away the non-essentials and focus on the most significant aspects of situations. Having a sense that we might have been hoodwinked, we now engage the attitude that we won’t be fooled again.

While we are paying greater attention to the detail early in the week, the latter part of the week can have us participating in social activities and seeking to wring some good times out of this summertime.

In our society, we are being conditioned not to accept and enjoy the present but rather to be attentive to the future. Even a week or two ago, stores were hawking their back-to-school items and sales. We are all being geared to the idea that summer is slipping away and autumn fast approaching.

Over the past few years, stores have even started to unwrap their holiday decorations in August.

“Be prepared” is a motto drilled into every child who participates in the Scouts. But school sales in July, Christmas sales in August are beyond the pale and only ratchet up the accelerations of these times that we all are experiencing. Enough already!

The latter part of the week has July slipping away and August upon us. We can even count down to the start of school, and we might grab for the last gasps of summer over the weekend.

The end of the week and the weekend could prove dicey, like a fast spinning revolving door, but with people and situations exiting and new situations and scenarios stepping into our lives.

We may try to grab for all the gusto over the weekend, but some of our engagements could leave us with a nasty taste.

All in all, this week can be an active, albeit anxious, week. We may feel that we are late to the party, unable to fully appreciate the summer activities and fearful of yet another shoe dropping. Listening to world events will provide little solace as animosities seem to exponentially increase, talks of peace with little intent, and a feeling that we all might be on some runaway train without an engineer or a conductor.

Monday, July 28th – I Was Told There Would Be Cake – Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Pluto. Monday starts the week with us anticipating something good and tasty for the beginning of the week. Unfortunately, we might feel as though we are Waiting for Godot. Our plans for the day and for the week could be scotched from the get-go, as those things we intend to do are either delayed or are non-starters. The week begins with the Leo Moon Void-of-Course with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo late tonight, early tomorrow. We may have all sorts of plans for this week, but we could feel as though we have stubbed our toes as we sally forth on this Monday. The only energy today is the Venus opposed Pluto, with Venus triggering our nefarious Uranus Pluto square. The week is actually bookended by the Uranus Pluto square, with Venus square Pluto on this Monday and Venus square Uranus on Thursday-Friday. Oh, joy! Everyone may be a little petulant on this Monday, riding their high horse, willing and able to read someone the Riot Act while pontificating about social decorum and the ‘right’ way of doing things. This Monday is a day to lower our expectations and to try and keep a lid on our reactions to situations. Otherwise, we could easily trigger discord, animosities and a tendency to cut someone off at the knees. Did I write ‘Oh, Joy’?

Tuesday, July 29th – Cutting to the Core – Mars, Neptune, Pluto. There’s no messing around on this Tuesday. We might all assume the attitude of the character in the 1978 movie Foul Play who states: “Nobody messes with Stella unless Stella wants to be messed.” Tuesday has the Virgo Moon sextile Mars, the Moon opposed Neptune and the Moon trine Pluto. We are willing to get down and dirty today, to strip away the covering and the image to get to the heart of any matter, to cut to the core. What we have to be wary of is where we direct our laser-like intentions. We can be like a table saw today, but it would be wise for us to consider what we are cutting, what we are getting rid of and what we might be eliminating from our lives. Monday and Tuesday may be more a question of letting go rather than filling up. We might look to divest ourselves of people and situations that just don’t measure up to our standards, which are likely to have raised the bar ever higher. If we will take the time to consider what we want to concentrate on and stay focused, then this Tuesday can be a highly productive day. This is one of those days when we can find the needle in the haystack if we are willing to look into the haystack rather than considering the fantastic phantoms of our mind. Once we get going on this Tuesday, there may be no stopping us until we have done what we have engaged.

Wednesday, July 30th – Step-by-Step – Venus, Saturn. Over the last two days, nothing may have been done in half measure. Once we got going, there was no stopping us until we were done, until we got to the core of any situation. Wednesday is a different story. We are less intense, a little calmer and more willing to take things step-by-step rather than some of the giant leaps we might have made over the past two days. If those giant leaps didn’t land us in some deep chasms or in deep doo-doo, then we can thank our lucky stars and our guardian angels. After a likely intense two days when our blood could have started to boil, Wednesday slows things down to a less frenetic pace and a more harmonious rhythm. Today, the Virgo Moon sextiles Venus and the Moon sextiles Saturn. We could still be going through our ‘to do’ list, checking off the things we have accomplished, noting the things that we have rid ourselves of. We are likely to be taking things today step-by-step. No drawing lines in the sand today, no cutting people off at the knees; we are likely to put a smile on our face as we attend to tying up loose ends and taking care of our obligations. This can be a pleasant day and a productive day. We can straighten up our affairs and tidy up our lives. The more we can accomplish today without the frenetic or fanaticism of the past two days, the better we can enjoy the approaching weekend, the first weekend of August, traditionally the summer holiday month in many countries.

Thursday, July 31st – Aprés le travail, le joyeux – Mercury, Jupiter, Mercury Leo. With apologies to French speakers as I may have bludgeoned the language, this Thursday is a turning point of the week. The day begins with the Virgo Moon sextile Mercury. We can take care of what needs to be done, make our phone calls or send our text messages that might explain our behavior over recent days and make nice with anyone and everyone who might have felt slighted or offended by our rambunctious attitudes recently. We want to bring closure to outstanding issues now, for we are looking at clearing the decks to engage some downtime and summertime fun. Mercury exits Cancer to enter Leo and the Moon exits Virgo to enter Libra where today the Moon sextiles Jupiter. The first half of this day may have us attending to our daily tasks, but the second half of the day has us engaging or contemplating some good times and fun activities. It’s the last day of July and we are looking to take full advantage of the summer sun. Even if we have stepped on someone’s toes, this Thursday is a day when we want to enjoy the company of someone in search of holiday fun. We are less concerned about the problems and anxieties in the world at large and in our own personal lives. We can put all the cares and concerns on the back burner and concentrate instead on enjoying pleasurable pursuits. It would be wise for us to keep in mind our financial situation and not to overspend. We could easily buy into the belief of ‘live for today’, but it would be suggested that we recognize that if we choose to live the high life today, we may have to pay for it tomorrow or at a later time. I’m not going to be a parade rainer, for we all need some ‘time out’ from the intensity of these times. So let’s enjoy ourselves, have a good time and appreciate the camaraderie of that special someone, or special people, in our lives.

Friday, August 1st – Exaggerated Twists and Turns – Sun, Lunar Grand Cross, Pluto, Uranus, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. Friday could prove to be one intense day, a day when various demands may be made upon us with enough never being enough. This is one high energy day and a day that seems to have unexpected situations throwing curveballs at us. The Libra Moon sextiles the Sun and the Moon creates a Cardinal Grand Cross with the Libra Moon square Pluto in Capricorn, the Moon opposed Uranus in Aries and the Moon square Venus in Cancer. The Venus trigger of the Uranus Pluto square that began on Monday with Venus opposed Pluto is triggered today by Venus square Uranus. Venus also trines Saturn and Mars squares Jupiter. This could be a day akin to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, a day when we may be going full bore with various twists and turns, actions exaggerated, no moderation whatsoever, and many of our activities and directions impacted by someone other than ourselves. We may go for it all today and then some. Our energy could be so intense today that once in motion we are likely to be in overdrive. We do have to be wary of our expenditures today. Everything can be more and more today. If we can slow things down, the better it would be, but this day is a day when things can accelerate quickly and in a convoluted manner. We just have to avoid hurting ourselves or hurting other people. The admonition may be ‘moderation in all things’, but we are unlikely to heed the suggestion. Late today, early tomorrow, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twenty-four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before entering Scorpio late on Saturday, early Sunday.

Saturday, August 2nd – Good Thoughts, Wrong Actions – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars. Saturday has the Moon Void-of-Course with the Moon finishing its transit of Libra without making any further connections to the planets before moving into Scorpio late today and early Sunday. There is not a great deal of energy, at least in regard to getting things done. There is a great deal of talk, plans and fired up intentions, thanks to the Mercury in Leo conjunct Jupiter and Mercury square Mars. We may be feeling good about things, confident and optimistic and assuming, no knowing, that we can do no wrong. That may be our sense of things, but our sense may be exaggerated both in regard to our making best friends with good luck and in our ability to move mountains. We may be Superperson in our mind’s eye today but fortunately there is not enough energy to get things going where we could hurt ourselves. Let’s enjoy the mental gymnastics, give ourselves a pat on the back, and accept the truth to the realization that things are so much easier to achieve in the abstract than in the practical manifestation. Let’s allow ourselves to go into la-la-land today, bolster our confidence, but let’s wait to implement our plans until we get back on the ground.

Sunday, August 3rd – Push Back – Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Neptune, Pluto, Sun. Sunday can have us dealing with cleaning out the stables, which may seem like a Herculean task. We would prefer to be out and about, having a good time, spending like there’s no tomorrow. If we take that tack, we might find that we are ratcheting up our credit card balance, negating our true resources and engaging our credit line even to the max. Let’s not go there. Sunday has the Moon in Scorpio, and today the Moon conjuncts Mars, the Moon trines Neptune and the Moon sextiles Pluto. If those were the only energies operating on this Sunday, then this day could be a highly accomplished day with us tearing through, getting rid of the outmoded and eliminating the dross from our lives, all the while focused on the Promised Land of our intended future. Unfortunately, those are not the only energies today, for the Scorpio Moon also squares all three planets transiting Leo — Jupiter, Mercury and the Sun. We may be far more interested in having a good time today, but in trying to do so, we could be caroming from one head-banging incident to another, as if ricocheting back and forth between disappointing incidents and getting beaten up at every turn. We started the week with people being a little squirrely, hypercritical and willing to cut someone off at the knees. The liability towards ending the week the same way we started the week is strong, and we might have to bite our tongue at times today to avoid triggering a conflagration in our relationships. People may be more interested in one-upping each other than in seeking accommodation and cooperation. Let’s focus on what we need to get done in clearing our path without creating animosities or increasing our debt load. We may not engage the fun we would like to have today, but we can save ourselves a great deal of money and unnecessary discords if we focus on pruning the extraneous from our lives and concentrating on making room for more meaningful involvements.
