May 26th – June 1st, 2014

This week can be another pleasant springtime week, a time of fixing up the homestead and even fixing up ourselves with a personal makeover. It’s Spring and we’re likely to be feeling in ourselves the renaissance that the season offers.

The week begins with the ending in the US of the long holiday weekend, Memorial Day, often considered the unofficial start of Summer fun. Whether we have the day off or not, we may start this week in a slow, relaxed manner. We might concentrate on putting our best foot forward, adding some shine to our image and spending a little to get a great deal of satisfaction in making our lives comfortable.

The mid-part of the week turns up the heat, with ‘hump’ day’s New Moon, and we could find ourselves engaged in any number of activities. We might not stay long at any one event but could be in a juggling mood as we go from one interest to another to yet another. We are enjoying life and enjoying the camaraderie of good friends and casual acquaintances. Relationships may have taken a far healthier turn than our interactions over the past few months. People may be far less intense, slightly more considerate and cutting everyone a little more slack. And slack is the energy of the week. We are not interested in confrontations, nor are we looking at creating win-lose situations. Like Ferdinand the bull in the classic children’s story, we might prefer to smell the flowers rather than being provoked into any adversarial situations. This week we might look to embrace the old ‘60’s mantram: “Make love, not war.”

The latter part of the week can have us tending to family matters and readying the fire pit for our warm weather barbecues.

And we could put that fire pit to good use over the weekend as we engage in social activities with our special someone or a gaggle of folks to enjoy the comforts of home. Like the volatility of these times, the weekend is a tale of two extremes — much activity on Saturday, followed by a likely ‘time out’ on Sunday.

Monday, May 26th – Preludes of Summer – Neptune, Pluto. Monday is Memorial Day in the US, a day intended to remember and honor the sacrifices made by so many for our freedoms and our way of life. This day, however, is more commonly recognized as the unofficial kickoff of summer. The Moon in Taurus today sextiles Neptune and the Moon trines Pluto. While some may be out boating or enjoying summertime activities, this is also a ‘sales’ day for various retailers and could find many people stalking the malls looking for those bargains to fix up their home, add to their wardrobe or having a personal makeover. We may have certain images in mind as to how we want to appear and present ourselves. Our taste can be honed to near perfection, as we seek just the right mystique for us to be attractive and appealing. This is a Goldilocks Day when we don’t want too much or too little, only just right. We can accomplish a great deal today, add some spit and polish to our surroundings and make everything look nice, and just right.

Tuesday, May 27th – The Costs of Appearance – Saturn, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. The push pull between too much and too little could be part of our conundrum on this Tuesday. The Taurus Moon opposes Saturn and the Moon sextiles Jupiter. We could stretch our resources to the max, and we might feel that we have gone overboard. Even if we have added to our credit card balance, we can easily justify the expenditures as ways to make ourselves look good, our environment pretty and our moods more upbeat. We all want the good things in life, no matter our definition of what the good things might be, and there can be times when we spend a little more than might be reasonable, other times when we realize that the best things, or good things, in life can be free. No matter our concern about our budget and debt load, we can rationalize our decisions as necessary expenses and not mere whims of fancy. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for nineteen and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini late today, early tomorrow. We are also on the dark side of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s Gemini New Moon. This Tuesday would be a good day to straighten things up, clear out the clutter and make room for new interests as we rid ourselves of the outmoded.

Wednesday, May 28th – Sitting on Top of the World- Gemini New Moon, Sun, Neptune, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Venus Taurus. Wednesday is considered ‘hump’ day coming as it does in the middle of the workweek. This Wednesday is the start of a two-week cycle with today’s New Moon in Gemini putting its imprint on the next two weeks. The Moon today conjuncts the Sun, the Moon squares Neptune and the Moon trines Mars. The Sun squares Neptune and Mercury sextiles Venus before Venus exits Aries to enter its own Sign of Taurus later today, early tomorrow. This day could have us energized and ready to take on the world in all its varied facets. We may have a lot going on, plan to do even more and might not stop until we drop. Some of our involvements may have us wondering whether we are going for the gold or just winding down a blind alley. No matter. We are in motion, movement and the rush of excitement can enliven us. We could reach out and touch someone and more likely contact everyone we can possibly think of to chat up. Even if we are feeling a little dazed or confused by what we’re doing and what is going on around us, we can be pretty convincing today, projecting a sense of confidence and intent. Our communications can be appealing, even if our reasoning is a little muddled. We may have an aura about us today that is enigmatic and seductive. This is a day when we could be feeling like we are sitting on top of the world. Let’s just be careful not to fall off.

Thursday, May 29th – I Am Who I Am, But Who Am I – Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury Cancer. The Gemini Moon sextiles Uranus today before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over twenty-eight hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before entering Cancer tomorrow. Mercury exits its own Sign of Gemini to enter Cancer. Thursday may have us considering all sorts of options and alternatives for ourselves. We can rifle through any number of situations, engrossed by some, distracted by others and repelled by a few. This is a smorgasbord kind of day, a day when we might want to try any number of things but without willing to commit to anything for the long term. Our minds may be in a whirl of possibilities, but the ideas may come and go in a whirlwind, and we might be reluctant of really trying anything out to see if what our minds can conceive we are willing to achieve. Apart from the cascade of prospects today, this is not a day for us to get a great deal done. We might be more engaged with many activities rather than taking any one of them from startup to completion. We just may not want to get ensnared today. We want our freedom of movement, the ability to go from here to there to there without being tied down. Mercury moving into Cancer puts a focus on our home and family matters. We may become somewhat tentative in our actions, even reticent in our discussions, and might prefer the comfort of the armchair explorer.

Friday, May 30th – Comforts of Home – Mercury, Venus. The Moon moves into Cancer today and the Moon conjuncts Mercury and the Moon sextiles Venus. This Friday can be a truly pleasant time, a day when we seek all the comforts that life has to offer. We may give thought to projects around our home, make plans for family gatherings and enjoy adding some fine touches to our lives. This is a day when we might choose to shop for accoutrements to our living environment, shop for additions to our wardrobe and even consider a personal makeover. We might decide to spruce up our appearance, but whatever we add will have to not only look nice but be comfortable as well. This Friday can be a quieter day, a day when we choose to have a leisurely lunch or after work get-together. We are not looking to set the world on fire but nor are we looking at getting burned. Towards the end of the day, we may seek the nurture and enjoyment of the comforts of home.

Saturday, May 31st – Get Your Motor Running – Lunar Grand Trine, Neptune, Saturn, Lunar Grand Cross, Mars, Pluto, Uranus, Sun. Yesterday might have seemed like a lazy day, a day when we just quietly paddled through the gently flowing currents of life. Not so this Saturday, for this day could have us up and running and navigating the swift-moving currents. Today, we might feel pulled in different directions with some swing highs and swing lows, all encompassed in this twenty-four hour period. This is one energetic day and a day when we might feel good at times, other times when there is hardly a second to catch our breath. The Cancer Moon triggers both the Water Grand Trine and the Cardinal Grand Cross. On the one hand, the Cancer Moon trines Neptune in Pisces and the Moon trines Saturn in Scorpio. Our compassion can be engaged and our desire to help enlisted. Our feelings are strong today, and we are looking to play the cosmic mother / father taking care of those who are having a difficult time and with us willing to carry their burden. On the other hand, the Cancer Moon squares Mars in Libra, the Moon opposes Pluto in Capricorn and the Moon squares Uranus in Aries. While our spirit is willing, our desire to be of assistance could have people taking numbers as far as who wants our help. We could be going non-stop today, dealing not only with scheduled activities but unanticipated situations too. The Sun trines Mars. We have the energy to do it all today, but let’s just be aware that being in overdrive may necessitate time to rest subsequent to our hustle and bustle. This is a day of two paradoxical energies and we might feel as though we are caroming from one emotion to another. The focus of this day may in deed be putting our spirit into action.

Sunday, June 1st – Taking a Breather – Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. After yesterday’s frenetic activities, this Sunday may live up to its commonly assumed quality of a day for rest. The Cancer Moon today conjuncts Jupiter before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over nineteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before entering Leo late today, early tomorrow. If we worked with the energies yesterday and avoided getting worn out by the roller coaster of emotions and the intensity of actions, then this Sunday can be a pleasant day of time spent around our home environment just chilling. If we did go on overload yesterday to the point of exhaustion and beyond, then this day is a time to try and recuperate, recover from the hurly-burly of yesterday’s activities, catch our breath and reinvigorate ourselves. We may want time today just to laze around with no heavy duty commitments. We may not feel compelled to do anything today except lounge around and enjoy the sanctity of our home.
