Ukraine: Astrological Ruminations

The Ukraine could become a focal point for a dangerous game of chicken in the geopolitical world and one that could become heated over the short-term and perhaps even more intense as we come towards the end of this year and again in the summer of 2015.

Just as every person has an astrological birth chart set up for their date, time and place of birth, so too does every organization, institution, administration and country. While the natal chart gives indications of personality characteristics, areas of strength and areas of challenge, astrology is all about timing and the growth and development through the various tidal phases of ebbs and flows, good times and not so good times, through the cycles of natural unfolding.

A country in the headlines at the moment is Ukraine with the change in the power hierarchy and the increased geopolitical tensions between Russia and the West as a result. It is interesting to note that the simmering frustration of the Ukranians in the western part of the country ignited and flared during the Sochi Winter Olympics eventually leading to the overthrow of the Russia-allied government.

What better time for western interests to have widespread protests than while Russia was focused on hosting the Olympics?

I have written before about the transit of Pluto through Capricorn, and we have all witnessed and experienced some of the incidents whereby old structures have broken down. Combined now with Uranus transiting Aries, we have seen the battle between old and new, between the powers-that-be and the people. We have seen it in the United States with the 2008 financial crisis, followed by the Great Recession, and later the revelations by Edward Snowden of the comprehensive surveillance by US governmental agencies of foreign leaders, foreign governments and its own citizenry, the populace at large. We have witnessed it with the protests against tyrannical governments, first with the Green Revolution in Iran, followed later by the Arab Spring, and demonstrations in the Latin American countries of Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela. We have it now with Ukraine.

In looking at the charts of Ukraine, Russia and the U.S., it would seem as though the dance has just begun. An active transiting Pluto is evident in all the relevant charts, but things may not be the way they seem.

The simmering in the Ukraine has gone on for a period of time, but there would also seem to be covert external forces determined for the overthrow. While one might assume that the issue has been resolved in the Ukraine, I would suggest that the energies indicate otherwise.

The Ukraine could become a focal point for a dangerous game of chicken in the geopolitical world and one that could become heated over the short-term and perhaps even more intense as we come towards the end of this year and again in the summer of 2015.

The change in government came during Mercury retrograde, never a good time for significant decisions or definitive actions. The timing occurs with a great deal of confusion, more going on behind the scenes than evident, players involved who might deny any involvement, and yet a tinderbox that could ignite firestorms around the globe.

I have a client very much connected to the international intelligence community, and they remind me that often situations become aggravated in one particular area of the world in order to divert attention from some other situation elsewhere, and often a situation far more significant. They explain it as similar to the carnival shell game, where the pea is under one of three shells, the shells are quickly shifted around, but it is often hard to identify under which shell the pea is.

We live in a world where the powers-that-be engage the shell game — appearances often masking the true reality.

I have often written of the importance during these times to be aware and mindful. We are living during a time when things can change in a nanosecond. We are in the midst of transformational times, times when the powers-that-be no longer hold the trump cards as their powers become increasingly usurped by the technology that hands back to the individual their own creative expression and the ability to have their voice heard. And yet, when there is a threat to their power, the powers-that-be seek whatever means, whether legitimate or illegitimate, to consolidate their power.

Leaders may talk of transparency, claim they are safeguarding the rights of the people and affirm that they are doing the people’s business, but technology and the individual will strip away the illusions and shed the light of revelation on the games that governmental leaders play.
