February 3rd – 9th, 2014

This week can swing high and swing low. We may be fast out of the gate as we start the week, but we have to be wary of stumbling as we near the end of the week.

We may begin the week with various projects in mind, but our progress may be more twists and turns than a straight line trajectory. Coming off this past Sunday’s Super Bowl, this week sets in the winter doldrums for some people. Football season is over and the sense of enforced hibernation can create cabin fever. We might be champing at the bit to get on with new involvements, but our insistence to get going could have us acting without forethought. And we all know what that can mean: leaping before we look can wind us up in a very deep chasm.

Even as a distraction from our daily existence and the winter blahs, we might choose to launch activities whether we have a strategic plan in mind or we just initiate with no itinerary, little direction and flying solely on a wing and a prayer.

The mid-part of the week would be a time for us to address outstanding matters, deal with the details and bring completions to situations before the Mercury retrograde.

Yes, it’s back! The first of this year’s Mercury retrogrades kicks off on Thursday and this one could be a doozey, at least at the very beginning of the retrograde cycle with Mercury conjunct Neptune and Mercury retrograding in Pisces, a Sign of Mercury’s Detriment and the Sign of Neptune’s rulership. Mass confusion with sprinklings of wish fulfillment could prove rampant.

With the Mercury retrograde running through this month of February, we shall need to stay on our toes and fully engage our awareness and mindfulness in order to avoid stepping into illusions and delusions that could prove treacherous and perilous. It will be essential that we keep our wits about us and not buy into the images, presentations and hype that may be tantalizing us during this time. This is a time for us to delve below the surface in order to see what is really going on.

Friday begins the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and offers yet another distraction from our daily lives and from reflecting and contemplating where we are going. Some, however, may choose to be but flotsam floating on the seas of time.

The weekend can have us here, there, virtually everywhere. We might be looking to explore and participate in new interests, and we may choose get-togethers with friends and unexpected encounters to enjoy the camaraderie of more than one.

Monday, February 3rd – Apres le Jeu – Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Jupiter, Pluto, Venus. Monday starts the week with us ready to get going. Even if we have been absorbed in the US football season and yesterday’s final game of the season with the Super Bowl, today could have us refocusing our energies. There could be something of a hangover from yesterday’s partying blowout, but today finds the stadium empty and us looking for something to do. And finding something will not be a hard task. This Monday has the Aries Moon triggering the Cardinal Sign Grand Cross with today’s Moon creating a Lunar T-Square as the Moon conjuncts Uranus, the Moon squares Jupiter in Cancer and the Moon squares both Pluto and Venus in Capricorn. Tomorrow completes the Grand Cross with the Moon opposed Mars. We may be feeling today as though a new day is dawning, ready for us to initiate, start, begin, launch something, any thing different from our usual routine and same old, same old. Our adventures recently may have been more observations of other people’s grand adventures. Starting today, we want our own adventures and we are willing to go whole hog with our plans and intentions. While we could have a great deal of energy to start this week, it would be wise for us to recognize that we are in a phase when things move more by twists and turns than by a linear progression and a straight line trajectory. Our challenge and our opportunity are to turn the seemingly maze-like conditions into a labyrinth whereby we may feel at times as though we are going in circles but in actual fact the process allows for a honing along the way in order to reach the center, the fundamental core of what is truly important to us. The more we can streamline our pursuits into those activities that truly speak to us and have meaning for us, the less likely we are to waste our time and energies in senseless diversions and distractions.

Tuesday, February 4th – Gotta Be Me – Sun, Mars. Tuesday continues with the Aries Moon, which today has the Moon sextile the Sun and the Moon finishing its Grand Cross with the Moon today opposed Mars. This is a day when we want to explore our possibilities and stretch our wings. We are looking to do whatever we want to do in the time and the way that we want to do it. We are not interested in acknowledging, or even acceding to the wishes of, wing clippers, naysayers or parade rainers. We are interested in me, I, our personal interests. While we are making ourselves number 1 today, such a disposition could lead to relationships being a little dicey. We may seem self-absorbed, self-centered to some, but this is a day when our interactions with other people are likely to revolve largely around me, I, our personal interests. Let’s use this day to consider our options and our alternatives. In so doing, we might discover more about ourselves and learn more about what our purpose in this life journey is all about. This is not a day when we would be content doing only routine matters. Nor are we overly concerned about other people’s needs or interests today. It’s all about… you got it, ME, I, our personal interests and individual explorations.

Wednesday, February 5th – Trusting Our Instincts – Mercury, Neptune. Wednesday has the Taurus Moon sextile both Mercury and Neptune in Pisces. Although we might be reticent about trusting any thing other than empirical evidence, we could do far better by letting our intuitive sense give us a feeling as to what is really going on. If we do not rush to judgment but take a reflective approach, we could come up with a greater understanding and the most appropriate means by which to accomplish our ends. We might choose this day to shop for those warm and fuzzies that comfort us and nurture us. We might engage in a little indulgence, shopping for our significant others in preparation of next week’s Valentine’s Day or just enjoying a little something, or more, for ourselves. Although our inner voice rarely will lead us wrong, we do need to recognize that Mercury is about to turn retrograde. With Mercury in Pisces where it is in Detriment and uncomfortable and with Mercury in orb of a conjunction with Neptune and with Mercury stationary and about to turn retrograde tomorrow, due diligence is not only called for but it is downright essential for us to avoid falling down the rabbit hole.

Thursday, February 6th – Here We Go Again – Jupiter, Pluto, Venus, Lunar T-Square, Sun, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury retrograde. The Moon continues its transit of Taurus, and today the Moon sextiles Jupiter, the Moon trines both Pluto and Venus and the Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon square the Sun and the Moon opposed Saturn. To top it all, we have the beginning of this year’s first of three Mercury retrogrades. And this Mercury retrograde could be a doozey, since not only does it begin with Mercury transiting Pisces, a Sign of its Detriment but Mercury is also conjunct Neptune, the planet that rules Pisces. This day may be a day of two cities, or a day of two outcomes or at the very least a most paradoxical day. The day begins well enough. If we keep our ear to the railroad track and are aware of the energies operating, then we may realize that with Mercury turning retrograde we need to bring to closure and completion as many outstanding matters as possible. Let’s keep in mind that during a Mercury retrograde it is wise for us to avoid major decisions and delay significant purchases. While the day begins well enough with us operating in an expeditious and focused manner, as the day proceeds things get squirrely. Suddenly, we might feel as though we have entered a fantasyland where the floor shifts and the walls move and everything seems like a figment of our imagination. During the latter part of this Thursday, it would be wise to slow things down, not make any assumptions or accept any thing at face value. Clarity may be lacking, confusion heightened, and any attempt at due diligence could prove futile. Let’s take a ‘time out’ in order for us to get used to the shifts and changes. Fortunately, even if we try to move things forward, we might feel as though we are stuck in molasses. This sense of the energy slowing down may also be attributed to the Moon going Void-of-Course for fourteen hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini tomorrow.

Friday, February 7th – Wassup? – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Neptune. The state of confusion, or lack of clarity, that we might have felt yesterday is re-engaged on this Friday. We start the day with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Taurus Moon makes no further connections to the planets before entering Gemini today. The Gemini Moon then squares both Mercury and Neptune. We may not know whether we are coming or going, and this Friday would be a day for us to look at situations from all facets and still not expect a clear answer. We may feel as though we are spinning our wheels, and that may not be a bad thing, for it could keep us from making bad decisions and taking wrong actions. Our moods can be excessively heightened and a tendency to emotional breakdowns cannot be discounted. What people say and what we hear can be totally two different things. Let’s avoid any knee jerk reactions to what we hear, see or sense since clarity is minimal at best and the liability is to emotional reactions that can be overblown responses. What seems to be evident may prove only an illusion. Snake oil salespeople may be out in full force, painting pretty pictures and persuading us to their cause. It would be wise to take everything today with a grain of salt. Far better to use this day to meditate, contemplate and maintain emotional balance. Otherwise, the whipsaws could prove extreme.

Saturday, February 8th – Grand Adventures – Uranus. The past two days could have felt like we were in a fog or deep in hangover. We may not have been operating on all cylinders but instead may have been pacing the floor, going around in circles, and living in an emotional morass and our own personal world of confusion. Saturday could have us feeling as though we are back on track, but we are not interested in following the same old track of our usual routine. No, this Saturday calls for some sort of grand adventure — the ability to spread our wings, explore new vistas and try out something different from the familiar. The Gemini Moon today sextiles Uranus. This is a day for us to work with peripheral vision, keep our antennae up and be open to receive interesting insights and hear fascinating options that we might not have taken previously into account. Like being on a scavenger hunt, we may get some interesting clues that could lead us down trajectories we might never have considered. Serendipity and synchronicity are in the air today. We just have to be open to the possibilities, even possibilities that from our vantage point may seem like impossibilities. Let’s keep in mind that we have stepped onto the magical mystery tour bus with this paradigm shift providing people, situations and events that are non-sequential but rather seemingly random incidents that can put a smile on our face, a spring in our step and lead us into a whole new facet of our being.

Sunday, February 9th – You Gotta Have Friends – Lunar Grand Trine, Sun, Mars. This Sunday can be truly a primo day. The Gemini Moon today creates an Air Grand Trine with the Moon trine the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon trine Mars in Libra. Whether we have plans to get-together with other people or are just planning a stay-at-home Sunday, this day can have us interacting with various people, whether in person, on the phone, by email or through smoke signals. We, and everyone else on the planet, may be feeling very chatty today. The conversations may have little consequence except for the comfort of human interactions. This is a day for us to express our thoughts, our feelings, our appreciations and anything else that comes to mind. Our conversations might not be long or lofty, but just reaching out and touching someone can be uplifting and fulfilling. And who knows? We might hear some interesting news or ideas that spark our vitality and intrigue our mind. If we plan to be out and about, we might be like a butterfly, flying from one thing to another to another, alighting only briefly before we take off for another locale, another interchange. This Sunday can be a fun day, and one more associated with a kaleidoscope of many sights and many flavors than a singular focus. Let’s en joy this Sunday for the sparkling moments it can provide.
