After a likely frenetic start to this new year of 2014, this week seems relatively placid and pleasant. Please note that I wrote relatively. We are living during a quickening phase, an accelerated pace and times when things are occurring rapidly, dramatically and in a non-sequential manner.
For some of us, this week truly starts the new year. With New Year’s day falling in the middle of last week, some of us may have taken an extended holiday. Even if we were involved with our regular routines, we might not have been in lockstep with our familiar patterns. This week, however, is more likely to have us in the swing of our normal involvements, although with a recognition that there is a ‘new normal’ in town and operating in our lives.
Similar to last year, this year also seems to have long Void-of-Course Moons, times when the Moon makes no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of one Sign and before entering the succeeding Sign. Despite the quickening, fast-paced times in which we live, there are also times of respite, times akin to the calm Sargasso Sea, where the energy dies down, things are stalled and not much can be effectively accomplished. These times occur at the times of the Moon Void-of-Course. And so the metronome swings between intense energy releases and stagnant quiet times.
This week could start with us setting up our plans, creating the guidelines and developing our strategies for a successful year ahead. We may devise a resourceful itinerary, utilize astute time management skills and prioritize our efforts. While we can be very effective this week, we have to be wary that we don’t fall prey to a belief of being a legend in our own minds. Feeling that we have got this life journey down and believing that we are fully capable of meeting any challenges and taking advantage of any opportunities along the way, we could decide to do more than would be appropriate and consequently engage in overwhelm.
We may be looking to put our house in order during the mid to latter part of the week. Fixing things up, clearing away the clutter and feathering our nest can be part of our process of establishing the base camp from which we can then move ahead towards the summit of our goals, dreams and ambitions.
The weekend could have us in a flurry of activity. People and things we might have wanted to attend to during the holidays but just did not get around to may be part of our frenzied weekend plans. We may be juggling any number of things over the weekend, from our ‘to do’ list of errands we put aside for the holidays to engaging people and participating in activities that we want to develop during this year ahead.
Monday, January 6th – Thinking Before Acting – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Saturn. Monday starts the week with the Pisces Moon sextile Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for ten hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries. Mercury sextiles Saturn. The week may be slow starting on this Monday. It might be hard for us to step away from holiday mode and focus on our plans for the days ahead. This would be a good day for us to give thought to our new year’s resolutions and what we intend to do during this year. We can devise a best practices approach, figure out the most expeditious ways to accomplish our goals and find the right package to display our content. We can attend to the development of the big picture, take into account all the particulars that go into the big picture and even consider how we can present ourselves and our projects in an appealing but non-threatening manner. This Monday is a day for us to think before we act. Let’s keep in mind the analogy of the snowball going down the mountain, gathering momentum to become the avalanche. Today is a day for us to pack the snowball and contemplate how our initial steps can become giant leaps in the days ahead through proper planning and resourcefulness.
Tuesday, January 7th – Turning Up the Heat – Lunar Grand Cross, Uranus, Pluto, Mars, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Venus. This year and the New Moon fortnight on the 1st created a Grand Cross in the Cardinal Signs. The emphasis on initiations, start-ups, proactive launchings and actings out cannot be downplayed. On the contrary, they are the tenor of these times. On a regular basis, this Grand Cross will be poked and triggered, and this Tuesday is one of those days as a result of the Moon’s transit through Aries. Today, the Aries Moon conjuncts Uranus, the Moon squares Pluto and the Sun in Capricorn, the Moon opposes Mars in Libra, and the Moon squares Jupiter in Cancer. Mercury conjuncts Venus. Whether we were fast out of the starting gate yesterday or not, today seems to have us in full speed ahead. We may be operating on overdrive today, looking to accomplish as much as possible. While we might have various irons in the fire, we need to be certain that we not only have the impetus to begin things, but that we also have the persistence to follow through. We have to be wary that we do not get distracted by so many different activities and projects that we do a little here on one thing, a little there on another, but in the end finds ourselves having started a number of different interests but with no follow through. Someone could provide us assistance in showing us how to best structure our time today. If we can focus our energies, limit the number of projects we intend to start, then we may find that the energy does not get away from us. We can either take things step by step, keeping track of what we are doing, or we can take giant leaps, liable to winding us up in a chasm.
Wednesday, January 8th – One Step Forward, Two Steps Backwards – Venus, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Jupiter. We may have been highly active yesterday, going full bore, even if we weren’t totally focused on where we were going. At least we were in movement. Wednesday continues with the Aries Moon, which today has the Moon square both Venus and Mercury in Capricorn. In our race to nowhere yesterday we may have stepped, or possibly tromped, on other people’s toes. Today could be a bit of a pushback. We might find that some of our plans are either being delayed or blocked by circumstances and conditions around us. This is a day when it would be wise for us not to force issues, and yet that may be the tact that we take. We may feel that force and pushing through is the only way to accomplish our purpose. Adamance and arrogance could have no bounds today, and we have to avoid being perpetrator or victim. A sense of reckless abandon with indefatigable confidence could have people pushing aggressively ahead without considering the impacts and the unintended consequences of forceful actions. The Moon goes Void-of-Course for ten hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus. This is a day for us to take things down a notch or two. Even if there are immediate gains made by pushing the envelope, the ramifications may linger with the need to make amends and rectifications in the future. A strong dose of diplomacy and drawing upon our charm can soften the otherwise tendency to throw down the gauntlet or draw lines in the sand.
Thursday, January 9th – Pieces to the Puzzle – Neptune, Pluto. Thursday has the Moon in Taurus with the Moon sextile Neptune and the Moon trine Pluto today. Even if we or other people have just been too much over the past two days, this Thursday is a day when we can neatly fit all the pieces into the puzzle. We are most concerned about our appearance and our image. We can draw upon a certain mystique today, an enticing yet mysterious way to present ourselves. Behind the appearance is a real solidity, so this is a day when substance and appearance are neatly matched and neatly put together. We can draw upon our intuitive sense and our ability to cut to the core to come up with an unbeatable combination. We may engage people’s interests and then provide them with a detailed rationale as to how our interests work well and serve them at the same time. We might find ourselves doing some form of personal makeover, whether to our personal appearance or to our surroundings. We want things to be functional without the extraneous, yet we still want them to be seen as idyllic, comforting and aesthetically pleasing. This Thursday can be a highly productive day. Almost by sensing it, we can determine where best to place our energies and how best to move our projects ahead. We have a power and determination today. As opposed to yesterday when people might have been trying a sledgehammer approach, today we are far more interested in winning the support and advocacy of others and presenting our case in an appealing yet focused manner.
Friday, January 10th – Expanding Without Going Overboard – Jupiter, Sun, Saturn, Venus. Friday continues with the Taurus Moon. Today, the Moon sextiles Jupiter, the Moon trines both the Sun and Venus, and the Moon opposes Saturn. We can be feeling upbeat today. We might have gained a second wind yesterday as a result of things flowing and our taking time to reflect on where we are going. We might have even come to the realization that we can do more with less, that we can gain support for our interests by gentle persuasion as opposed to incessant yammerings of our wants and wishes. This Friday allows us to broaden our activities. We are still looking at life from an aesthetic point of view. We want things that appeal to us. We want our personal world to be a brighter, happier space. And we may have the sense that we can create a sanctuary for ourselves. We may let go of the battle for our wants and needs, and come to appreciate that despite frequent evidence to the contrary these times allow for a free flow of natural unfolding, as long as we are willing to go with the flow. If we have offended anyone earlier in the week or over the holidays, today could be the day for us to make amends. Our interactions with other people can be pleasant and engaging. We do have to watch that we don’t overspend or go overboard in our gestures of appreciation.
Saturday, January 11th – Here, There, and Everywhere – Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Saturn, Sun, Mercury Aquarius. Saturday begins with the Taurus Moon trine Mercury. The Moon then moves into Gemini where today the Moon squares Neptune. Venus sextiles Saturn. The Sun conjuncts Venus, and the Sun sextiles Saturn. And Mercury exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. There is a great deal going on this Saturday. We may want to do as much as we can today, but it would be wise for us to start with a list of our ‘to do’ activities. Prioritizing today can help us avoid going around in circles, trying to do a lot but just running ourselves ragged. A little planning and wise use of time management techniques can help us cover a great deal of ground today. We can attend to some of the errands we might have postponed over the holidays. We could contact those people whom we meant to be in contact with over the holidays but just did not have the time to do so. This is a day when we can meet some of our outstanding social obligations, whether in person, on the phone or by email. Everything we do today it would be wise for us to keep it short and sweet. We might also find some interesting bargains today. Not that we are going to be impulse buyers, but we may discover in our travels today several sale items that fulfill specific needs. This is a fun day, a productive day, but also a day when we might not be doing a whole lot of sitting.
Sunday, January 12th – Adventures with that Special Someone – Uranus, Mars. Sunday seems like it can be an especially pleasant day. We may not feel compelled to follow through on plans made. We would far prefer to be spontaneous, even impulsive. This Sunday has the Gemini Moon sextile Uranus and the Moon trine Mars. We are seeking adventure, having good times with good friends, doing something different from our usual and open to the magic of the universe. Today is a day that can be filled with wonderful surprises and thrilling incidents. Even if we are looking for relaxing times today, we might find them far from our local environs. This Sunday is a great day to take off, have the wind in our hair and just enjoy the beauties this world has to offer. This is a day to explore, investigate and to spread our wings. Nothing commonplace for us today, for we are far more jazzed for the exciting, unexpected and the wonder of it all. And if we can share this wondrous day with a good friend or significant other, all the better. Everything’s better shared with someone we truly care about.
