December 2nd – 8th, 2013

This week can start us out on some new grand adventures. We are looking to spread our wings, engage the holiday spirit and not be hampered by any limitations or restrictions.

The week begins with the Sagittarius New Moon and the New Moon trine Uranus. Even though we may be doing our holiday shopping for other people, a great deal of our focus may be all about ‘me’.

The early part of the week can have us in high gear. We want to get done what needs to be done, but our primary interest could be on holiday events, social get-togethers, and the ‘shop ‘til we drop’ that we are being encouraged to participate in through advertising, expectations and various other subliminals. We can justify incessant shopping sprees both by helping the economy, which in the US has consumer spending accounting for 70% of the GDP, and by the gift-giving of this time of year.

The mid-part of the week may be geared towards preparations and plans, putting things together in grand design. Some of our intentions may be impacted by the unexpected, but by now we should be used to those unanticipated variables that come out of the blue and force us to adapt, shift and change what we are doing or how we are going about accomplishing things.

We are looking to put our best foot forward, but we have to be nimble and quick to avoid stepping in the muck and the mire.

The end of the week and over the weekend, social gatherings can hold sway. It’s holiday party time. Some people may carry the spirits to an extreme with the liability of over-indulgence and saying the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time. ‘Everything in moderation’ is an aphorism for us to keep in mind, always is, seldom engaged.

As we end the weekend, we might choose some quiet space for us to reflect, recharge and connect with our spiritual being. For some, the spiritual connect could be a first introduction. But in these times, stepping off the helter skelter of today’s mundane world can allow us to catch our breath and consider what the true essence of our being is all about. ‘Time outs’ allow us to stop, look around and take into account all the factors impacting our lives.

Monday, December 2nd – To Infinity and Beyond – Neptune, Uranus, Sagittarius New Moon, Sun. This Monday could have us looking to expand our interests ‘to infinity and beyond’, to borrow the catchphrase of Buzz Lightyear, the character in the Toy Story franchise. Today, we have the Sagittarius Moon square Neptune, and the Moon trine Uranus, just prior to the Sagittarius New Moon with the Moon conjunct the Sun. This day is a day of new beginnings, broadening our reach and willing to surmount the seemingly insurmountable. Grand adventures could be in store for us over the next fortnight under the influence of today’s New Moon. We may start the day slightly unsure of our itinerary and our direction. No matter, for we are far more consumed with the idea of taking machete in hand and carving a path through unexplored terrain. We may not do so literally in the jungles of the wilds, but we are looking to do so in unfamiliar terrain. We are looking to put our mark on new escapades. We might go forward with a strong belief in the assumption that ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ We may not be fully cognizant of the way, but we could be highly willful today, wanting to do our own thing, confident that we can meet anything head on, and optimistic that the outcome will surely be to our benefit. This can be a fun day, but also a day when we may not take anything too seriously — especially caveats or cautionary indications. We want what we want and we are likely to feel that the universe is a willing partner in realizing our desired wishes.

Tuesday, December 3rd – Full Speed Ahead – Mars, Mercury. Yesterday could have had us fast out of the starting gate. We may have felt energized, enthusiastic and able and willing to slay any dragons we encountered along the way. While we could have gone full speed ahead, our passion might not have been matched by our planning. We may have been impetuous without devising a best practices strategy. Tuesday could be slightly different. We still have the enthusiasm and confidence to tackle any thing and every thing that comes our way, but today we are willing to take the time to consider how we go about doing things. The Sagittarius Moon squares Mars and Mercury sextiles Mars. We may be champing at the bit to get on with things. Whether on the fly or by taking the time to strategize, we are incorporating brain with brawn today. We can be highly resourceful today and develop the means by which we can be expeditious with our time, regulatory with our energy and astute with our finances, able to get the best bang for our buck. We could have a tendency today to want to skip over details, but we have an internal monitoring system that can keep us from harm’s way and avoid needless expenditures of our time, energy and monies.

Wednesday, December 4th – Another One Bites the Dust – Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Mercury Sagittarius. After two days when we might have cast our fate to the winds, done whatever we chose to do and been in a highly expansionary frame of mind, Wednesday could have us back on the ground. Not that we are necessarily grounded, but our focus may shift back to our responsibilities and what we need to get done. Today, the Moon in Capricorn takes on a more realistic perspective and a call for us to get down to business. This Wednesday also has the Uranus Pluto square re-engaged. The Capricorn Moon today sextiles Neptune, the Moon squares Uranus and the Moon conjuncts Pluto. Mercury exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius late today, early Thursday. We may be sorting through our varied projects, various interests and determining what we need, and truly want, to focus on. This Wednesday is a day for us to put the horse before the cart. We may still have our gaze periodically towards those areas we wish to develop, but we can now see them as future endeavors while we accomplish what we need to do in the here and now. Like a solid filtration process, we can hold our different projects up to the light in order to see if they are truly worthy of our continued interest. Those things that we deem not of essential benefit we can drop. There are other situations that might arise that force our attention. Let’s keep in mind that we are living during times when the new norm may be chock full of unexpected events and situations, and this could be one of those days. We may have to concentrate on our tasks and obligations, but our thoughts are likely to fill with expanding our possibilities and increasing our outreach.

Thursday, December 5th – Looking Pretty – Saturn, Jupiter, Venus. The Capricorn Moon today sextiles Saturn, the Moon opposes Jupiter and the Moon conjuncts Venus. We may be looking at a makeover today, and that makeover may include straightening up our affairs, decorating our home and shopping for a new wardrobe. This is a day when we want to look our very best. Everything we do can be highly resourceful and presented in a most appealing manner. What we have to be wary of is a tendency to overdo, take on too much and embrace exaggerations where we accept the wrong belief that more is always better. Such a sentiment may not be the case today. On the contrary, we might discover that less is more. Social engagements today might seem obligatory, commitments that we have to meet, but the outcome could truly be to our benefit. This is a day when we can have it going on. We are looking good and able to converse in an upbeat but restrained manner. Let’s just avoid having too much on our plate today. We might feel that we are highly accomplished, which we are, but we have to avoid spreading ourselves too thin. To repeat, today is a day when less is more.

Friday, December 6th – Catching the Wave – Mars, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune. Friday begins with the Capricorn Moon trine Mars. We may hurriedly tie up loose ends, complete outstanding matters before we disengage from our responsibilities and engage the weekend activities. Even though we may be picking up the pace early in the day, we can deal with the details and specifics without dropping a stitch. We can work with the qualitative factor of time where today we can get more done, and done well, in a shorter period of time than it might take us at other times. The Moon then exits Capricorn and enters Aquarius where today the Moon sextiles Mercury and the Moon sextiles Uranus. There may be some interesting get-togethers, some of which may be unplanned. There is a sense of serendipity today, of being in the right place at the right time. There could be interesting encounters with some fascinating person. Mercury squares Neptune, and we shall just have to watch what we say and to whom we say it. We may be bubbly and upbeat, but it would be essential that we are aware of our audience, since we could say something which has unintended consequences. We also have to watch for having too good a time, which could lead to a nasty hangover or repercussions that we have to redress in days ahead. Today is a day to deal with our responsibilities early in the day and then be open to possibilities whereby we can catch the wave and surf the crest of new experiences, new connections and interesting synchronicities.

Saturday, December 7th – Wind Out of Our Sails – Sun, Saturn, Mars Libra. Friday could have been one of those magical days when things happened without our making them happen. Exciting events and encounters could have been part of Friday’s makeup and into the early hours of Saturday morning. This Saturday begins with the Aquarius Moon sextile the Sun and the Moon square Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over twenty hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces tomorrow. Whatever occurred yesterday, we might have had a whirlwind of activity. Within that whirlwind, excess and indulgence could have also been a part of the day. Although this Saturday begins with a thrust of energy and feeling good about things, shortly thereafter we may feel as though the wind has been knocked out of our sails. We might realize that we have overdone or overcommitted. We could wake up with a nasty feeling that we have agreed to too much. Let’s not get down about anything that we might have done where today we have buyer’s remorse. No, it is important for us to recognize the wave cycles during these times, periods of higher highs and lower lows. The more we can balance out the extremes, the better it would be. Mars exits Virgo to enter Libra. We might pay more attention to the interests of other people. We are far more engaged with what is going on with that special someone in our lives. We want to assist them in realizing their goals, gain an advocate for our plans, and we are no longer as interested in flying solo as we might have been before. Life is always better with someone to share it.

Sunday, December 8th – Time of Reflection – Neptune, Mercury, Pluto. Sunday has the Moon in Pisces where today the Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon squares Mercury and the Moon sextiles Pluto. Our sensitivity can be turned up severalfold and with it a tendency towards moodiness. We may feel like a dry sponge taking to water, soaking up the various energies around us. This Sunday is a good day to take things down a notch or two. Stepping off the track and moving into a meditative, contemplative state can be tempting. A ‘time out’ would allow us to consider what is really going on and whether we are balancing out our material side with our spiritual side. Even though the world has become a kaleidoscope of fragmented images, we do not always have to engage the frenetic activity of today’s living. This Sunday is a good day for us to feed our spiritual being — taking the time to reflect and consider what is truly important to us in contrast to what has merely become incessant activity and busy work that has little to recommend it except being busy. Walks in nature, drives into the countryside or just sitting in the sanctity of our home can give us the quiet space where we are not distracted but rather can focus on what we are doing, how we are doing and how best we can fulfill our selves.
