November 11th – 17th, 2013

This week we could be gliding along, singing a song, feeling good and upbeat about life and the world at large. Can we say that we might be prone to irrational exuberance?

Things are moving so fast, so many things happening virtually all at once, that we have to be wary of falling prey to the carnival shell game. For those who have not fallen victim to nor heard of the carnival shell game, it is a game where there is a pea under one of three walnut shells and the shells on a flat service are moved around quickly and the player, a.k.a. the mark, is asked under what shell the pea is. It’s an old carny game, a street game, but often it seems that life has become something of a shell game. There are so many distractions and diversions happening that it becomes hard to stay clear about what is really going on. Welcome to the world in 2013.

We start the week on a fairly high note. The Mercury retrograde of the past three weeks is over as of this past Sunday, although we are still in the ‘shadow’ of the Mercury retrograde. Our intuitive sense may seem highly attuned and combined with our strong self-confidence, we might feel as though we are more than capable of managing the shifting tides of these times. Where a problem could arise is our sense of overconfidence, feeling that we are master of our domain, master of the world and capable to take on and successfully negotiate any of the ‘slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’.

Yes, we may be feeling good, looking good as we start this week. Mid-week and towards the end of the week we may hit some bumps in the road. Not everyone will see our sterling qualities and our unmatched abilities. Our interactions with other people could prove dicey. We may hold people to an extremely high standard, one that few can approach. Or we might find ourselves being held to such a high standard. Either way, relationships could be impacted even to the point of pulling names from our contact list. The sense of people either being with us or against us, or a combination of the two, could make our interactions with people strained. We do not want anyone to rain on our parade and for any who attempt to be parade rainers we might tell them “adios” and show them the door, even to the point of eliminating them from our lives.

The weekend can prove quite pleasant. Social interactions may have a purpose beyond just getting together and socializing. We are especially interested in those people that can contribute significantly to our lives and to our personal interests.

We might go on a shopping spree to spruce up our home or do a personal makeover in order to look our very best. No one is going to douse our flame of self-enjoyment. We are looking good, feeling good, no matter what someone else might think to the contrary. It would be wise to keep an eye on our expenditures, for our ebullience could have us racking up some significant expenses.

This week continues with the roller coaster quality to which we might be accustomed. But we may feel that we are not just on for the ride but rather driving the coaster itself. We could feel on top of the world and will not allow anyone to convince us otherwise.

Monday, November 11th – A Positive Spin and a Sense about Things – Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Pluto, Saturn. Monday begins the week in an altered state of mind. We might feel guided, blessed and highly aware of our senses and sensibilities. The Moon in Pisces today conjuncts Neptune, the Moon trines both Mercury and Saturn and the Moon sextiles both Venus and Pluto. Mercury trines Neptune. Our intuitive sense is on high today. We can come up with a best practices approach to virtually everything. We are highly sensitive and consequently very impressionable. Our mood swings can be extreme, so it would be wise to keep a handle on our emotions. This is one of those days when we can have our finger on the pulse, have a good sense about what is really going on and then, as if guided by our inner voice, are able to do the right thing in the right way. We can be highly resourceful, but in our effectiveness we do have to be wary of spreading ourselves too thin. Out of a missionary zeal we might get involved in trying to fix other people’s problems. As the saying goes, we can help someone lift their burden but we cannot carry it for them. Taking on someone else’s karma can be impeding them in their journey. This Monday is a day to curb our compassionate enthusiasm, our desire to fix it for other people, and for us to maintain a certain detachment to the ills and issues of the world and other people.

Tuesday, November 12th – Expanding Beyond Limitations – Mars, Lunar Grand Trine, Sun, Jupiter. Despite advise to the contrary, yesterday and today could have us taking on the ills of the world, wanting to fix things for other people and playing savior to one and all. In consequence, we could have a great deal on our plate. We might attend to many varied issues but we have to avoid glossing over details, neglecting specifics and covering problems in a rather superficial manner. Even if we do things in a half-assed way, we certainly are not half-hearted in our intentions. On the contrary, we could be trying to juggle a number of different situations and feeling enthusiastic about our level of commitment. No matter what we accomplish, and some of our efforts might prove more to be band aids than surgical repairs, we may be feeling good about ourselves and willing to take on more and more. The day begins with the Pisces Moon opposed Mars. If we would focus on the how of our involvements, then we could actually devise a strategy to effectively address the matters at hand. Otherwise, we might go forward with great intention on a wing and a prayer and only hope for the best. The Moon triggers the Water Grand Trine as the Pisces Moon trines the Sun in Scorpio and the Moon trines Jupiter in Cancer. The Sun also trines Jupiter today. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seventeen hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries late today, early Wednesday morning. Tomorrow has Neptune turning direct, so today and yesterday have Neptune in a stationary situation. We may feel in an otherworldly state of mind at the beginning of this week and for much of this week. Let’s try to maintain a connection with the ground, try to be practical and not allow our emotions to determine our activities. We are feeling upbeat, inspired and may have a sense of not a care in the world — a lovely world but one that might not always mesh with true reality. I’m not looking to rain on anyone’s parade, just indicating the need to keep aware of what might be going on around us and in the larger picture without getting carried away by the hopes, wishes and dreams of what could be.

Wednesday, November 13th – Bumping Up Against – Venus, Uranus, Pluto, Neptune direct. Wednesday has the Uranus Pluto square at play as a result of the Moon in Aries conjunct Uranus, and the Moon square both Pluto and Venus in Capricorn. Neptune turns direct today. After a couple of days when we may have felt blissed out, in a state of mind where nothing could go wrong and with us being divinely guided on our journey, Wednesday is a day when we might feel called upon to put spirit into action. Although our physical energy and determination can be ramped up today, we may also be impulsive and willing to push the envelope, consequences be damned. As though on a quixotic journey, we may find ourselves tilting against windmills. We have to be wary that we are not presenting ourselves as overly self-willed, an image that would be self-defeating to people that matter to us. Our focus may not be clear. Even though we might have felt that everything was going our way over the past two days, this Wednesday is a day when we could be hitting various speed bumps, banging our head against the wall, yet still trying to push ahead. Today is a day for the tai chi moves. If we find ourselves blocked by obstacles in our path, we do not have to try and go straight through them. We could always go around them, over them or under them without feeling the need for a direct confrontation.

Thursday, November 14th – Payback – Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Thursday’s Moon in Aries squares Jupiter. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for close to eighteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus tomorrow. Venus triggers the Uranus Pluto square by Venus squaring Uranus today and Venus conjunct Pluto tomorrow. If we overdid it yesterday with self-absorption or stepping on toes, today could be a day for payback. Continuing to feel expansive, confident and ready to take on the world, we might not even realize that we could be acting like a bull in a china shop. Interactions with other people could be a little dicey today and tomorrow. Someone might read us the riot act and give a detailed description of our crimes against humanity, or at least some obnoxious behavior as they saw it. Interactions with other people have been precarious at best over the past few weeks and this day, yesterday and tomorrow could raise the stakes even higher. We may decide that certain people just are not worth the effort we make in maintaining connection. Everyone has been and continues to be slightly on edge. We might have enjoyed an escape from reality at the beginning of this week, but right now we are smack dab in the midst of reality or, at least, our perception of it. Let’s try to cut everyone a little slack right now, for otherwise we could be too easy with the pruning shears to our contact list.

Friday, November 15th – What It Could Be Or What It Is – Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune, Mercury, Venus, Pluto. Friday may be a little slow starting, especially if we felt that we got a whack on the side of the head from someone yesterday. The day starts with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus. As the Moon enters Taurus, the Moon today sextiles Neptune, and the Moon opposes Mercury. Venus completes its trigger of the Uranus Pluto square, with Venus having squared Uranus yesterday, Venus conjunct Pluto today. We could be somewhat wistful today, wanting to go back to times of pleasant memories. Seeking some salve, we might decide to go shopping for something for our home, for our wardrobe or just for comfort and solace. If we go to the mall today, it would be wise for us to keep our finances and a budget in mind. We could easily spend more than might be comfortable and we would regret it later. We may feel a little isolated today even if we’re in a crowd of people, for we could easily have a sense of being an island unto ourselves. Even if we get caught up in what could be as opposed to our present day reality, we can use this day to determine how best to get from where we are to where we want to go. No matter how stressful life can get, it’s always wise to keep in mind the concept of phases and especially the profound transformation seen with the mythological bird the phoenix on its funereal pyre rising from its ashes to soar ever higher. If things have been difficult for us, and certainly many of us have experienced some difficult incidents in recent times, circumstances can change dramatically and virtually in a nanosecond of time. Attitude is a large determiner of our trajectory. Let’s keep in mind what could be and use our present circumstances to create the suspension bridge slat by slat to get us from where we are to where we would prefer to be.

Saturday, November 16th – Putting it All Together – Lunar Grand Trine, Pluto, Venus, Mars, Saturn. There is a wise saying that states: ‘necessity is the mother of invention’. How true it is. How sweet it is. And we may see the validity to that statement today, a day when the Taurus Moon creates an Earth Grand Trine with the Taurus Moon trine both Venus and Pluto in Capricorn and the Moon trines Mars in Virgo. The Moon also opposes Saturn. We may feel that we do not have the resources or capabilities to effectively accomplish what needs to be done today or to advance our long-held desires. If we give weight to that attitude, then we could instill a self-fulfilling prophecy. If instead we are willing to use whatever is available to us at the time, we might surprise ourselves at how capable, talented and adept we are at achieving our plans. This is a day when we could surprise ourselves. We can come up with a best practices approach, be extremely expeditious in our methods and be highly successful with our results. We can accomplish more today in a shorter period of time than we could possibly imagine. We do not have to spend a huge amount, have state of the art tools or have encyclopedic knowledge of what we are trying to attain. No, this is a day when things can fit neatly together, if we believe it to be a possibility. This can be a primo day and a day when we might decide to put a feather in our cap for we can achieve great results by ‘working smarter rather than harder’.

Sunday, November 17th – Grand Ambitions or Anxious Victims – Jupiter, Taurus Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. This Sunday has the Taurus Full Moon with the Taurus Moon sextile Jupiter and the Moon opposed the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost nine hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini late today, early Monday. At the time of the Full Moon, our emotions are significantly ratcheted up. And this day could be extreme in our attitude and disposition. We can either be incredibly optimistic, ready to put our best foot forward, willing to take risks for even greater gains. Or we could feel as though we are prey to the vagaries of these times, waiting for the other shoe to drop, assuming the worst is yet to come. In either case, the way we wish to play it is our choice, always our choice. This is a day when we could engage a makeover, whether that makeover is sprucing up our home, having a salon day to fashion our appearance or selecting new items for our wardrobe. We can look to fix ourselves up, dress for success and put into operation an appealing base camp from which to advance our interests. On the flip side, we could feel as though we have no input to change or develop our circumstances and might even have the sense that we are behind the eight ball, in a reactive state where we cannot take actions in regard to our conditions but can only respond to the incidents happening to us. Such a paradoxical state of mind could prove quite a conundrum but also allows us to temper irrational exuberance and to dispel fearful catatonia. No matter which way we go, and we could swing between the two extremes today, we have the opportunity of trying to find balance, a quest for all of us on our personal journey as evidenced in the Jewish mystical system of the Qabalah with its middle pillar on the tree of life and in Buddhism with its middle path.
