The old idiom about March ‘in like a lion…’ could refer to this first week of July. This week could have a great deal of banging and crashing, blasts and explosions, all of which may not be related to the fireworks during the 4th of July US celebrations.
This first week of July could prove a little vexing. We may feel out of sorts, have a chip on our shoulder, with an attitude that nothing is right in our world. This is a time when we might bump into people from our past that force us to look at who we were before the morphing and the shapeshifting that all of us have been through over the past five – ten years. While we could be uncomfortable in our own skin, we do need to avoid impetuous actions and impulsive moves that seek some relief from our feelings of discontent. Unexpected situations can arise, and delays could prove frustrating. This is a time to take a deep breath, count to ten and prevent ourselves from any knee-jerk reactions.
Fortunately for many, this week is a holiday week or long holiday weekend. Getting off the track is one of the best things that we can do for ourselves. We need a fresh perspective and a different environment from our normal terrain in order to get a reprieve from what could be percolating below the surface, ready to burst out at any moment.
The early part of the week can be frustrating. We could feel as though we are behind the eight ball. Either someone can be blocking our way or we just do not have the opportunity to make our presence known. We may feel misunderstood and disempowered. While we might want to lash out at situations or at those people standing in our way, let’s remember the tai chi moves. If there are obstacles in our way, we do not have to push through them. We can go around them, over them, under them in order to get beyond them. So too for this week. Now is a time for us to have patience, recognize that we do not have to throw down the gauntlet or act in an adversarial or contentious manner. If we are looking to give payback to someone who has stepped on our toes or thrown us down the stairwell, it would be wise to keep in mind the suggestion: ‘To people with good taste, vengeance is best served cold.’
Timing is everything, and this week may have us on our toes but with the liability towards acting impulsively and without clear intent.
Unexpected situations can arise mid-week. Our plans might have to be altered in accord with changing circumstance. We may have a great deal going on, much of which can arise unplanned and virtually out of the blue. While our focus may be on one situation or several situations, other incidents can escape our attention. It would be important that we heighten our awareness and be mindful since the landscape may be changing before our very eyes but totally unnoticed.
The end of the week seems far more pleasant than the beginning or mid-part of the week. Things seem to settle down, although we are still likely to be in active mode.
We may have a lot on our plate this week — fun activities, social get-togethers, family reunions and home projects. We just have to watch for the curveballs and knuckleballs that could hit us for a loop.
A highly active week, there may be brief moments of respite when we can catch our breath before the next unexpected situations crops up.
Monday, July 1st – Vesuvius Erupting – Mars, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Sun, Pluto. We may not be buried like Pompeii was by Vesuvius, but this Monday could prove cataclysmic with people popping off. Belligerence can infect our relationships today. We might feel as though we have a bug up our butt. Late Sunday, early Monday has the Aries Moon sextile Mars and the Moon square Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost fifteen hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus where today the Taurus Moon sextiles Jupiter. Venus squares Saturn and the Sun opposes Pluto on this Monday. Things can be intense. We might feel unappreciated, taken advantage of or disempowered. Resentment can build today, and our interaction with other people can border on the gnarly. It would be wise for us to maintain social decorum, to skirt personality issues, and make nice with everyone we encounter today. People from our past could crop up, in person, by email or in our reflections. We are not who we once were. We have gone through changes, transitions, transformations. We might feel like the emperor with no clothes, but even stripped down to our bare essentials, we are likely to be more in touch with our core.
Tuesday, July 2nd – The Waiting Game – Lunar T-Square, Saturn, Venus, Neptune, Pluto, Sun. Tuesday has the Taurus Moon creating a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Saturn and the Moon squares Venus. The Moon sextiles Neptune, the Moon trines Pluto, and the Moon sextiles the Sun. If we are trying to take care of too many things today in order to clear the decks for the holiday weekend, we could find ourselves doing a lot but getting nothing done. There can be various delays today, some of them due to the fact that we do not have the necessary tools at hand, or due to things taking longer than we would like. Instead of pacing the floor and grumbling about the frustration of delays, we might consider prioritizing our tasks, dealing with those that we can effectively handle and putting aside those that seem convoluted or are waiting on someone else or something else in order to adequately address. Playing the waiting game would only ratchet up our frustration and resentment and fuel a sense of disempowerment. Let’s keep in mind that these times call for us to be flexible and adaptable. Timing is everything, and this Tuesday is a good indication of that. We can either stew in our own juices if we become singularly focused on a vexing problem, or we can be accomplished by taking care of those things we can easily achieve.
Wednesday, July 3rd – Brief Respite – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday begins with the Moon continuing its transit of Taurus. The Moon today sextiles Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost seventeen and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini on Thursday. We may have good intentions as we start this Wednesday, but much of our focus can be far off and far away. We might want to use this Wednesday as a day to straighten things up, deal with family matters and participate in home projects. The energy dies down, and it would be wise for us to take some time to catch our breath and recharge our batteries. Like life nowadays, this week is a roller coaster, times of high intensity, other times when there is little energy. Today is one of those days when the energy dies down, not much gets done and people may seem M.I.A. [missing in action, or just missing]. If that proves to be the case, some of our plans to take care of certain matters may be thwarted by people not being home, whether literally or figuratively. Although Wednesday is often considered ‘hump’ day, we might use this day to ‘take five’ or ‘time out’.
Thursday, July 4th – Red, White and Kaboom – Neptune, Venus, Sun, Uranus. Thursday is US Independence Day, the 4th of July, a day when we celebrate with family and friends in summertime activities. Today the Moon is in Gemini and the Moon squares Neptune and the Moon sextiles Venus. The Sun squares Uranus. There may be a smorgasbord of tasty delights for us to engage on this Wednesday. We might not know where to start today, feeling dazed by all that presents itself. We do know that the keynote to the day is fun, but our tendency may be to act spontaneously, impulsively rather than following in accord with scheduled activities and scripted plans made long ago. The Uranus Pluto square that overhangs our lives for the past year and over the next two years is activated this week by the Sun opposed Pluto on Monday and today the Sun square Uranus. We are in the midst of anything can happen with the general tone being a drastic transformation of fundamentals. Life is not the way it was, and we are unlikely ever to return to old patterns. New ways are called for. If we can extricate ourselves easily from the outmoded and no longer functional ways of our past, we can avoid the explosive blasts that wipe away the vestiges of where we have been but not where we are going. Either there can be a slip, sliding away, or intense, wrenching kabooms.
Friday, July 5th – New Horizons – Uranus. Friday allows us to step into a brand new world. The Gemini Moon today sextiles Uranus. We are far more interested in exploring and investigating rather than depending upon the tried and true. Like children in a candy shop, we might want to savor all sorts of delightful involvements — a little here, a little there. This is a day when we can take off the blinders, work with peripheral vision and be surprised by some wondrous adventures. As though testing the waters of a new sense of our selves, we might participate in all sorts of new activities that we have never tried before. We are open and receptive to the world of possibilities, and just in earshot we may hear of something that arouses our curiosity and draws us to try out activities we have never considered before. Surprises can arise, and we might feel like we are on a scavenger hunt, going from one clue to the next, to the next, never fully realizing what our destination might be, but fully enjoying the journey. Life could be at its grandest today with us aware and mindful and thinking outside the box. What a wonder-filled world in which we live!
Saturday, July 6th – The Summit and the Base Camp – Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter. Saturday can have us fast out of the gate. We may feel fully energized, as though we had made a remarkable discovery and now are focused on exploring this new world in more detail. But details can be lost to our energized desire to cover all bases. The day begins with the Gemini Moon conjunct Mars. We are amping, ready to take on the day with a broad palette of activities to engage. Speedy Gonzales may have nothing on us as we begin this day. After a turbothrust start to the day, the energy dies down quickly as the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost ten hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before entering Cancer, where today the Moon conjuncts Jupiter. The day may have us in overdrive, climbing mountains, attaining summits, but the latter part of the day could have us back at home, back at our base camp, enjoying camaraderie of family and friends in the sanctity and comfort of our living space.
Sunday, July 7th – The Paradox of These Times – Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Neptune, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Uranus, Venus. Sunday is a most paradoxical day as it takes into account the two major energy configurations of these times — the Water Grand Trine and the Uranus Pluto square triggered into a T-Square. The day begins with the Cancer Moon generating the Water Grand Trine with the Moon trine Saturn in Scorpio and the Moon trine Neptune in Pisces. We may be looking at relaxing and luxuriating in the comforts of our home. The smell of pies baking, the joy of appetizing foods and the repartee with friends and loved ones makes early Sunday a garden of delights. We could spend the day in the warm glow of family and friends just hanging out and enjoying each other. As the day progresses, the energy shifts from the Water Grand Trine to the Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Cancer Moon opposes Pluto and the Moon squares Uranus. Suddenly, the ‘lazy, hazy days of summer’ flips to an intense energy of contentious behavior and unexpected incidents arising. Our idyllic setting changes dramatically to the bumpy road of getting back on track but without all four wheels hitting the pavement. Obstacles and impediments might get in our way as we try to proceed. This latter part of Sunday calls for us to make our tai chi moves, to be aware and mindful of the dramatic transformation in the energies and navigate any frustrating developments without losing our cool. Venus also trines Uranus today, and there can be some interesting meetings that seem so serendipitous — bumping into people whom we may not know but seem to have eerily parallel lives, infatuation connections that shake the foundations of our contentment to demand greater attention, and doors or windows of new involvements we can take advantage of as we journey down the road. While this day could prove paradoxical, it would be wise to keep in mind that we are in the dark side of the Moon with tomorrow’s New Moon providing the starting gun of the next fortnight period.
