This week can have us quite astute as to how we can best proceed with our plans and focus on our future possibilities, all the while that past issues and constrictive formats are nipping at our heels.
This week ends the month of April and begins the ‘merrie’ month of May. The week ends with Cinco de Mayo, one of those days when we celebrate with cervezas and nachos. Hail to the Mexican army defeat of French forces in Puebla on May 5, 1862.
While the week may be slow starting on Monday as a result of fatigue and exhaustion that we might have felt from last week’s engagements, the week begins with us focused on our goals and attending to our needs. We can have our nose to the grindstone, work smarter rather than harder and accomplish a great deal. The early part of the week can be highly productive, and we could seek to get as much done as we possibly can. We just have to watch an element of burnout, where early in the week we burn the candles at both ends and wind up on hump day, Wednesday, dragging, running on empty and looking for an escape by stepping away from our everyday concerns.
The due diligence and focused attention early in the week can give way to a ‘devil may care’ attitude in the mid to latter part of the week. We might be far more interested in ‘what could be’ rather than ‘what is’. While we might have had more budgetary concerns to begin the week, the mid-week and latter part of the week could have us drawing on our credit, ratcheting up our expenses and justifying our expenditures as a necessary antidote to the hum-drum, albeit volatile, lives we feel we often live.
The weekend could be a nice respite with us focused on reveries and pleasant encounters. We may not look to do much over the weekend except jumping off the track, shopping and enjoying certain indulgences. Some of those indulgences could certainly ratchet up on Sunday as we look for avenues to participate in Cinco de Mayo activities.
All in all, this is a week when we can get a great deal done, yet feel hampered by our lack of resources or by the demands of our outstanding matters. No matter what gets in our way, we are looking for good times with good friends towards the end of the week and over the weekend. Isn’t life grand?!
Monday, April 29th – Taking Care of Business – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune, Mars, Saturn. Monday begins with the Moon continuing its transit of Sagittarius and the Moon trine Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost eight hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before entering Capricorn where today the Moon sextiles Neptune, the Moon trines Mars and the Moon sextiles Saturn. We start the day feeling upbeat and wanting to take on more than what is right on our plate. Things are easier in our mind than in practical reality, and our exuberance can give way to a waiting game. And waiting for us can be some of our routine obligations. We may be more interested in thinking about things way beyond our present tasks, and we could become distracted by great opportunities we conjure up in our mind. As the day progresses, we become less distracted and more focused. As though playing catch-up, we can accomplish much in the latter part of the day. Our intuitive sense is strong and we can devise a best practices approach to get a great deal done. We are looking at the big picture of our goals but not letting details or specifics fall between the cracks. We may daydream the early hours of the day away but then we’re in gear, pumped and ready to plow through our most mundane tasks.
Tuesday, April 30th – Putting Aside Our Impulses – Sun, Uranus, Pluto, Venus. Tuesday may continue the thrust of yesterday with us looking to get as much done as humanly possible. Or is that super humanly possible? Either way, this is a day when we might have to put aside anything that might divert our attention from our scheduled activities. The Moon continues through Capricorn, and today the Moon trines the Sun, the Moon squares Uranus, the Moon conjuncts Pluto and the Moon trines Venus. This is a day for team play and not the super star. If we can focus on the truly important and meaningful, then we can attend to what needs to be done and present it in an appealing package — a great combination of image and content. We just have to avoid our impulses to go off and be distracted by whatever catches our fancy. Squirrel!
Wednesday, May 1st – Cheers to the Merrie Month of May – Mercury, Saturn, Mars, Sun, Pluto, Mercury Taurus. Wednesday is the first day of May, sometimes referred to as May Day, Beltane and International Workers Day. The day begins with the Capricorn Moon square Mercury, just before the Moon moves into Aquarius and Mercury moves into Taurus today. The Aquarius Moon squares Saturn. Mars opposes Saturn and the Sun trines Pluto today. This is one active day, but also a day that could prove too hot to handle. We may be focused and determined, but we have to watch that we don’t forge ahead into a bramble thicket. We may want to get together with friends, use them as a sounding board for our future plans, but we still might feel determined to do whatever we intend to do no matter other people’s advice or opinion. We may not want to be restrained or held back. The liability to act before we think today is strong. We could want to break through any obstacles, no matter the costs. Demonstrations against the powers-that-be can make the headlines. People may not be interested in the rules and regulations but seek to enforce their own personal will or advocate a specific social cause. This is a day to apply the brakes before headstrong actions are engaged. We may want to implement our future plans, but it would be wise to consider our resources before we bet the house on impulsive moves.
Thursday, May 2nd – Cast Our Fates to the Winds – Mars, Uranus, Sun, Jupiter. Thursday continues with the Aquarius Moon, which today has the Moon both square Mars and square the Sun in Taurus, the Moon sextile Uranus and the Moon trine Jupiter. No matter what we have available, we may buy whatever we need in order to do whatever we want. We are oblivious to expenses today and disinterested in social decorum. We want what we want and are looking to expand our reach. We can be feeling confident and exuberant and looking to enforce our will. This is a day when we could be carried away by the excitement of the moment and engage whatever catches our fancy. Our budgetary concerns could fly out the window, and we could easily justify expenditures for future goals and for whatever gives us a satisfaction. The Rolling Stones may have sung I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, but we are looking for satisfaction and then some, no matter the costs.
Friday, May 3rd – In the Still of the Night – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Neptune. Friday begins with the Aquarius Moon square Venus before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for fourteen hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces where today the Moon sextiles Mercury and the Moon conjuncts Neptune. For much of the week, we could have been scurrying around, doing this, taking care of that, but possibly in a nonstop fashion. Welcome to the twenty-first century. Certain thoughts of prospects and possibilities could have been dancing in our heads, fires fueled by friends and our own appetites but without much consideration of what it takes to bring desires into realization. If we have not broken the budget and ratcheted up debts on our credit card, then we may have escaped the past two days without much damage. But what we want and what is affordable to us are two very different factors. This Friday allows us to slow things down, take time to contemplate our decisions and our actions and to draw upon our intuitive sense. Although we often look here and there for the answers, assuming that the answers lie outside of our ourselves, the truth is that we know, that the inner voice of intuition inside us often comes up with the right answers. This Friday is a good day for us to reflect, contemplate and listen to our inner voice. If we can be still and not force the issue, we could come up with the solution in the still of the night or during the quiet moments of our day. Since our emotions can be ratcheted up today and over the weekend, we may be rather moody, swinging high, swinging low, but all as a result of our sensitivity and picking up the energies of people and situations around us.
Saturday, May 4th – Spirit in Action – Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Sun, Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune. Saturday continues with the Moon transiting through Pisces. The Moon today trines Saturn, the Moon sextiles Mars, the Moon sextiles Pluto, the Moon sextiles the Sun and the Moon squares Jupiter. Mercury sextiles Neptune. This is one of those days when things can go surprisingly well and relatively easily, just as long as we do not get in our own way. We have been conditioned to make things happen, when in truth things happen whether we assume that we are making them occur or we accept that life, nature and the universe have their own rhythmic unfolding — some times bumpy, some times abysmal-like, some times smooth like greased wheels. This is a day for us to trust our instincts, to be more effective with less expenditure of energy. Things can come together neatly today, and we might feel guided by some divine force. We just need to keep our antennae up, work with peripheral vision and be open to the magic and miracles of these times. We can get a great deal done today. If we are looking for a Spring makeover or fix-up, then today can have us finding the right ingredients to add a little shine and a little sparkle to our lives. We can ‘feel’ out a good bargain, be attracted to just the right thing and assume that we are on a roll of good times and easy times. And there would lie the problem. If we take things too much for granted, we could take on more than would be appropriate and move from satiation to gluttony. Why go there? When enough is enough, we can place our attention elsewhere rather than just more, more, more.
Sunday, May 5th – Red Solo Cup – Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Mars, Pluto. Today is the 5th of May, which over the past ten years or so has become a major party day. Somewhat akin to New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo seems to give license to celebrating, drinking and partying. To borrow from Toby Keith’s song:
“Red solo cup, I fill you up
Let’s have a party, let’s have a party”
We could certainly focus on partying and indulgence today. The Moon continues through Pisces, where today the Moon sextiles Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for nine hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries. Mercury opposes Saturn and Mars trines Pluto today. We can have a great deal of passion and determination but we might feel constrained by our commitments and our obligations. The less imposed upon today, the better it would be. If we feel that our lives are being determined by a schedule or obligations, we could get depressed and then look to ways — shopping, buying, eating, drinking — to make ourselves feel better. We could virtually move mountains today, for our drive and our focus on the most meaningful aspects of our lives can be unstoppable, unless we get blindsided by expectations or plans already made. While we might want to join in the festivities, it might be wiser to pursue our own interests and move our projects forward. If we party, let’s not stay at the party too long. If we can take care of some pressing needs in regard to our goals, let’s take a moment, make our presence known to those partying and then get back to our calling. While many people may fill up the red solo cup, down its contents, fill it up again, and on, we can choose to participate with one foot in, one foot out. No need to get wasted or to waste the powerful energies of this day.
