Much of the impetuousness and self-centeredness we might have engaged or been exposed to over the past few weeks can start to drop away.
This week sees a significant shift in energy as three of the Aries-transiting planets exit Aries and enter Taurus. Not that there won’t be a desire to initiate and launch new projects. We still shall want to advance our plans and begin new areas of interest, but now we may be slightly more patient and more interested in taking things step by step. No bounds of irrational exuberance without our due diligence or a well-devised strategy this week. We can have our head in the clouds with our feet firmly planted on the ground.
The thrust of Spring can turn to the tilling of the soil and the planting of the seeds. We may take on a far more practical approach and be attentive to the parts that make up the whole picture. Our tendency to go for broke and to push forward with the belief that our energy, determination and self-interests will carry the day is tempered by considering the specifics, particulars and the details necessary to accomplish our goals.
Although we may not feel the constraining influence of Saturn’s opposition to the Taurus-transiting planets until next week, it would be wise for us to be as focused and as resourceful as we possibly can. Even if we choose to move forward with little concern for the costs involved, the Saturn energy will force us to come up with a best practices approach, to operate from a lean and mean attitude and allow us to develop the most expeditious ways to realize our intentions.
This is a week for us to begin to slow things down, take into account the image and appearance of our presentations, and to keep in mind the old adage that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’.
Monday, April 15th – The Taxman Cometh, the Taxman Taketh Away – Sun, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus Taurus. Today is April 15th, Tax Day in the US, when Uncle Sam asks for a pound of flesh from many of us. Although Sam may not be content with a pound any longer. While we have already seen creeping tax increases with the expiration of the payroll tax cuts at the beginning of the year, there’s more in store in the way of tax increases, additional user fees, increased registration costs and other similar means of governmental agencies to chip away at our disposable income. This Monday begins with the Moon finishing its transit of Gemini, and as it does so the Moon sextiles the Sun and the Moon sextiles Mars. We may be fairly active today. We may have already filed our income tax return with a sense of the biblical paraphrase: ‘devil, get thee behind me’. We are interested today in discussing our possibilities and our prospects. We may be feeling expansive and wanting to broaden our interests and take on more activities, especially those that truly speak to us. This is a day when we can present ourselves with force, passion and charm. And charm has been somewhat lacking over the past few weeks as everybody seemed more interested in their own perspective rather than taking into consideration other people’s viewpoints, feelings or needs. A sense of social decorum, lacking for so long, can re-enter the picture as Venus exits Aries, a Sign in which it is uncomfortable, and enters its own Sign of Taurus. We may be looking to spruce up our wardrobe, do a personal makeover and certainly present ourselves in the best light possible. We can have it all going on today — a gift of gab, passion for our personal causes, and an ability to be gracious and ingratiating. This is a good day for us to make our case flavored by heeding where other people are coming from. As the day progresses, the energies die down as the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over ten hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before entering Cancer late today, early Tuesday morning.
Tuesday, April 16th – No Place Like Home – Venus, Lunar Grand Trine, Neptune, Saturn, Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Uranus, Pluto. Tuesday can be a real mixed bag thanks to the conflicting energies of a Lunar Grand Trine and a Lunar T-Square. The Cancer Moon today sextiles Venus and the Moon triggers the Water Element Grand Trine with the Cancer Moon trine Neptune in Pisces and the Moon trine Saturn in Scorpio. The Lunar T-Square of the Cardinal Qualities has the Cancer Moon square both Mercury and Uranus in Aries and the Moon opposed Pluto in Capricorn. We can have a most idyllic day if we stay close to home, bumbling about in our sanctuary, engaging with family and friends. We can feel nurtured and cared for and without a care in the world. But that’s where the problems could ensue — with the world and when we step out into the world. Our sensitivity can be ratcheted up today, and we might find ourselves too innocent or too vulnerable to suffer the assaults of some people screeching too loud to have their own way and their insistence on their own personal interests. We could also find our responsibilities are such that enough is never enough and no matter how much we do there is more to attend to. This day may seem akin to Dickens’ Tale of Two Cities: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. We may have to deal with situations we would prefer to avoid, but let’s just keep in mind that we have a safe, happy place we can always retreat to in order to recharge and reinvigorate ourselves from the onslaughts of life on the earth plane.
Wednesday, the 17th – No Mid-Week Bump – Sun, Mars. Generally speaking, this Wednesday does not seem very energetic for the mid-week speed bump that Wednesdays often encounter. The Moon continues its transit through its own Sign of Cancer but makes no connections to the planets today. Late in the day, early Thursday, the Sun conjuncts Mars, both of which are finishing their transits of Aries and both about to exit Aries and enter Taurus at the end of the week and over the weekend. From the comfort of our armchair, we can envision all sorts of grand adventures for ourselves, such as recreational activities and trips to foreign shores. Future planning for special events can be a large part of this Wednesday. Our imagination is strong today, and once engaged we can roam the four corners of the world without putting out much effort, much less getting ourselves out of the comfort of our home. This is a splendid day to show our appreciation to other people and make contact with those special people at a distance. Getting enough rest and feeling reinvigorated, we may feel that we can once again take on the world with enthusiasm and confidence.
Thursday, April 18th – The Secret Life of Walter Mitty – Mars, Sun, Venus, Neptune. Few of us may remember the wonderful short story The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and some of us might not even know of the works of the beloved humorist James Thurber. But this Thursday can be very Mittyesque whereby we can imagine ourselves doing the most astounding and heroic exploits, all in our mind’s eye. Today, the Cancer Moon squares both Mars and the Sun in Aries. The Moon then moves into Leo, where today the Moon squares Venus. Venus sextiles Neptune today. Our imaginations can run rampant today with all possibilities, even what we might normally consider impossibilities, being not only possible but probable. We could easily see ourselves acting out that well-known phrase by reaching for the moon with the appreciation that even if we miss we shall land among the stars. We may feel timid and reticent about advancing our cause today, but in our mind’s eye we can vanquish even the invincible. Our passions may be inflamed, and we could see everything as close to perfect in the abstract as though viewing life through rose-colored glasses. We do have to watch our expenditures today, for we could rationalize and justify excess and indulgence. If we want, we might feel we have the right to have, no matter the cost involved. Today is a day for us to enjoy the aspects of our being, participate in fun events but not to get carried away by euphoria or assumptions wildly based on our desires.
Friday, April 19th – Freed from Old Restrictions – Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun Taurus. Friday continues with the Moon transiting through Leo, and today the Moon trines both Mercury and Uranus, the Moon squares Saturn, and the Moon sextiles Jupiter. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twenty-nine hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Leo and before entering Virgo late on Saturday, early Sunday. The Sun exits Aries and enters Taurus. This is a day when we might choose to step away from our responsibilities, engage life in a spontaneous and impulsive manner, and just enjoy the creative side of our being. Fun is on our mind, and we are looking to break free from the constraints of our routine and freed from the restrictions of our past. Our thoughts may be wide ranging today as we consider all sorts of possibilities and consider things far afield. We do have to watch our expenses though, since our tendency would be to do whatever we choose to do without much concern, or consideration, of the costs involved. We could be caught up in the moment and lose sight of routine obligations, so let’s keep in mind what has to be done even though we might be filling our day with pleasurable pursuits. A highly enjoyable day this Friday, but we might need to rest up on Saturday.
Saturday, April 20th – Surprising Delights – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Sun, Mercury, Uranus, Mars Taurus. Saturday may be slow starting. We start the day with the Moon in Leo but Void-of-Course with the Moon making no connections to the planets until late Saturday, early Sunday, when the Moon enters Virgo and the Moon then trines Mars and the Moon trines the Sun. Mercury conjuncts Uranus today, and Mars exits its own Sign of Aries to enter Taurus, thereby creating a Stellium of three or more planets in the Fixed Earth Sign as Mars joins Venus and the Sun in Taurus. While this day can be slow in our getting going, once engaged, where we go may be not so much scheduled activities but as a result of unexpected situations and surprising news we learn about. Saturday can be a day of a scavenger hunt with interesting clues provided as we go along. No matter what we have planned for this Saturday, things may not go as planned. We can get some startling insights today, discover new aspects of ourselves and we would surely want to follow the impulses of the day rather than the static commitments made long ago. The end of the day can ramp up our involvements. We are looking to take some of our new-found ideas and put them into practical realization. There is a major shift in energy this week, culminating on this Saturday as the energy shifts from a major focus on the initiations, self-assertiveness of Aries into the more pragmatic, albeit plodding, energy of Taurus. We are moving into a time when we may want to plant the seeds of new projects, new ideas and focus on developing our plans step by step.
Sunday, April 21st – Practical Implementations – Neptune, Saturn, Lunar Grand Trine, Taurus, Pluto, Mercury. Sunday continues with the Moon in Virgo, and today the Moon opposes Neptune, the Moon sextiles Saturn and the Virgo Moon creates an Earth Element Grand Trine as the Moon trines Venus in Taurus and the Moon trines Pluto in Capricorn. Mercury squares Pluto. We could start the day off on the wrong foot. If we feel put upon, and such a sense would be more imaginary than real, we could be quite belligerent. Although our thoughts can be incisive and to the point, we may be slightly defensive and overly self-focused as we start the day. We might be operating from the old concept of ‘a strong offense is a good defense’. Any sense of personal slights or misunderstandings could trigger a barrage of vitriol whereby we unleash a torrent of accusations and self-justifications. Such a reaction could not only leave the other person dazed and confused, but it could have us digging a deeper hole for ourselves that later on would be difficult to climb out of. Fortunately, as the day progresses, we could get a grip on ourselves, put our spirit into action, seem far more attuned to social etiquette and prove our capabilities by practical implementation of our plans. Even if we have to step back, regroup and recant our early morning thoughts and feelings, the latter part of the day can be far more productive. Not only can we make nice even with those people we might have earlier offended. We can get a great deal done to complete outstanding matters and prepare for the week ahead.
