This week is a momentous week, a time when we can shake off the recent blahs and move into a turbo-thrust of new beginnings. Whether we are ready to launch or not, this week could have a great deal of spontaneous bursts of energy going on.
We come to the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring this week. Not only that, but the shift of energy from Pisces to Aries is ramped up severalfold with the Stellium of three or more planets in Pisces shifting to a Stellium in Aries as first the Sun and then Venus this week enter Aries to join Mars and Uranus. Instead of four planets in Pisces at the beginning of the week, we have four planets in Aries by the end of this week.
This week also celebrates the end of the Mercury retrograde, and the first full week of Mercury direct. We still have our spikes of energy with times of intense energy, other times of still waters with very little energy due to the vast lengths of time of the Moon being Void-of-Course making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of one Sign and before entering the succeeding Sign.
The week may begin with us dithering about, virtually running in place, as we look to encompass all but fully engage nothing. Perhaps we are awaiting the coming of Spring with the Vernal Equinox on Wednesday when the Sun moves into Aries to begin the astrological new year.
We may begin the week making plans, considering our options and discussing many an idea without putting any one idea into manifestation. The mid-part of the week gets a bump up in energy but one that may seem akin to the age-old question: ‘If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does it makes a sound?’
We could be in spontaneous movement but without getting a great deal done. Subconsciously, we might be awaiting the start of Spring to truly begin the race into the new year.
Mid-week, the Sun moves into Aries on Wednesday followed by Venus moving into Aries late on Thursday, early Friday. The latter part of the week can have us feeling like we have gained a second wind, but with the winds being almost tornado-like. Our focus becomes largely concentrated on our individual selves. We may have been compassionate and concerned about other people even with a slight deference to assuming that we are not masters of our world but rather participants in the much larger game of life. But this disposition falls away as the energy shifts and we act more in tune with the Toby Keith song ‘I Wanna Talk About Me’ with its chorus lyrics:
‘I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see’
This tendency towards self-focus can be ratcheted up towards the end of the week and over the weekend. We may feel like ‘an island unto ourselves’, but such a stance could also make us master of our domain, but a domain of only one — ourselves, as everyone looks to do their own thing and march to their own drummer which could raise the question in different terms: ‘If someone beats their drum loudly and no one is around to hear it does it cause a stir?’
Monday, March 18th – The Race to Nowhere. The Moon in Gemini makes no aspects to the planets today. Nor do any of the planets aspect each other on this Monday. We do have the Gemini Moon, so there can be much talk today but very little concrete action. It would be wise for us to keep in mind on this Monday that Mercury just ended its three-week retrograde cycle yesterday and turned direct. Mercury, which rules the Sign of Gemini, has not shaken off its retrograde motion and may be slow starting. Besides, the Mercury retrograde and now direct is in Pisces, a Sign of Mercury’s Detriment, where Mercury is not at all comfortable. Consequently, we could find ourselves on this Monday slightly muddled, just dithering about. There may be a great deal of discussion going on, but conversations might seem to be similar to a dog chasing its tail, going around in circles with no definitive conclusion, only exhausting from all the energy spent in heavy discourse. This is a day when we can make our plans, have our conversations, consider our alternatives, but we might want to wait before actually launching our projects. We may be thinking about castles in the air without having the resources to construct in real time and practical reality our concepts into manifestation.
Tuesday, March 19th – One Foot Forward, Two Steps Back – Venus, Sun, Neptune. Tuesday begins the day with the Gemini Moon square Venus and the Moon square the Sun. There can be missteps as we start this day. Although our mind is full of ideas, some of our thoughts may be jumbled. We could make assumptions based more on how we would like things to be rather than the true reality of situations. Diplomacy may be called for but in short supply, and we would have to restrain our impulses. If we could engage due diligence, it would go a long way towards avoiding certain problems with other people. Today is a day when misunderstandings can cause personal slights and hurt feelings. Let’s try to avoid being overly glib and flippant today and be more receptive where other people are coming from. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Gemini to enter Cancer where tonight and early tomorrow the Moon trines Neptune. After a couple of days when we might have been spinning around, at times even out of control, we can use the latter part of Tuesday to catch our breath and enjoy the comforts of home. Creating sanctuary for ourselves can help us recharge our batteries and reinvigorate our soul.
Wednesday, March 20th – Spring has Sprung – Lunar Grand Trine, Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Vernal Equinox, Sun Aries. Spring begins on Wednesday as the Sun exits Pisces and the Sun enters Aries at the Vernal Equinox. Today represents the first day of the astrological new year. With the Sun entering Aries, we now have a Stellium of three or more planets in the Cardinal Fire Sign as the Sun joins Mars and Uranus in Aries. This Stellium will be reinforced late tomorrow, early Friday as Venus exits Pisces to enter Aries. Spring has sprung, and we may have a spring in our step, all with the idea of putting our interests first, unwilling to be held back by conditions or circumstance and willing to go headfirst into anything that appeals to our senses. The intensity of these times, with its volatile parodoxes with high highs and low lows, is evident by the Moon’s movement today. Wednesday has the Moon in Cancer, which today has the Moon creating both a T-Square and a Grand Trine. Talk about push-pulls! The Cardinal Sign T-Square is triggered by the Cancer Moon squaring both Mars and Uranus in Aries, and the Moon opposed Pluto in Capricorn. The Water Sign Grand Trine is created by the Cancer Moon trine Mercury in Pisces and the Moon trine Saturn in Scorpio. We may be champing at the bit to get moving, but we could find various obstacles, even some self-imposed, getting in the way of quick and effective action. While we might feel impelled to move quickly forward, let’s keep in mind that one of the primary beauties of astrology is the understanding of ‘timing’, both right timing and inappropriate timing. Today would be far better served by our enjoying the comforts of home, straightening things up and putting the brakes on any intended impulsive actions. We shall have a good amount of energy during this Spring period, and it would be wise for us to get into a conditioning mode rather than aggressively moving ahead without considering the parameters in which we are operating. We might keep in mind the lyrics from Simon and Garfunkel’s 1966 “The 59th Street Bridge Song”:
“Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.”
Although we have a great deal of energy to start this Wednesday, what with the Sun moving into Aries, the Lunar T-Square and the Lunar Grand Trine, the energy then goes flat and seems to die down. For the Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost thirty-seven hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Cancer and before moving into Leo on Friday.
Thursday, March 21st – Apres Moi, Le Refuge – Moon Void-of-Course, Venus Aries. Thursday continues with the Moon in Cancer and continues through this day and into Friday with the Void-of-Course Moon with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Cancer and before entering Leo tomorrow. Venus does exit Pisces late today, early Friday to enter Aries, a Sign of its Detriment, where Venus is not comfortable. There is an increased energy to the Stellium in Aries as Venus joins the Sun, Mars and Uranus in the Cardinal Fire Sign. We may choose to hide out, stew in our own juices, keep our own counsel or go for a leisurely march through the forest or along the island all unto ourselves. Like a sandwich, this day can be a bit of a respite between two highly active and rather intense days, yesterday and tomorrow. We might want to take time to catch our breath and recharge our batteries today, for the energy just really isn’t there to do much more than take a yawn, a nap or be off in our own thoughts of how mighty to the point of the all-mighty we could, and actually should, be. Yes, we may all be feeling a tinge, or more, of narcissism and in the process feel not fully or aptly appreciated. Our best company today might very well be our own.
Friday, March 22nd – Take No Prisoners – Venus, Sun, Uranus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. Friday is the 22nd, in numerology the master number of the master builder. We might not have any project in mind, but we certainly have in mind being the master of our domain. We awaken today with a burst of energy, even an explosive thrust. We may be off and running just as our feet hit the floor. The Moon moves into Leo and trines all four planets in the Aries Stellium — the Moon trines Venus, the Moon trines the Sun, the Moon trines Uranus, and the Moon trines Mars. The Moon also sextiles Jupiter and the Moon squares Saturn. Adding to this intense combination of self-aggrandizement and self-assertion is the Mars Uranus conjunction. We are off full tilt, likely driven by our intense passion to exert our autonomy and our authority but possibly without checking the direction or our itinerary. This day could prove highly accident-prone. People may not be looking as to where they are going and blindly accepting a belief that everyone will get out of their way, the seas will part for their passing through and that whatever they want they will have, whether by hook or by crook. This is a day for us to consider wearing elbow pads, kneepads and a helmet. Discretion may be the better part of valor, but we might have none of it today. We want what we want, and we are determined to get it… and so may everyone else.
Saturday, March 23rd – Peel Me a Grape – Moon Void-of-Course. If we didn’t mimic Sherman’s march to the sea yesterday and burn everything in our path, we might have expended a great deal of energy preening and enjoying ourselves doing our thing and loving what we were doing. That is as long as we didn’t crash into the sea or have any other mishaps as we Icarus-like flew giddily through the day. Saturday is a different story. The Moon continues its transit through Leo but its energy yesterday with the Moon trine all four Aries-transiting planets is gone replaced by the Void-of-Course Moon all day with the Moon making no further connections to the planets from late last night, all day today, and into Sunday morning. The energy dies down on this Saturday with a staccato-like ‘duh’ as we find it hard to do anything much but to luxuriate, take in a movie or watch the regional semifinals in the NCAA basketball marathon March Madness on TV. It would be especially pleasant if someone were to peel us a grape, for today is a day when we would like to enjoy ourselves, have fun but without moving a muscle or exerting ourselves. This Saturday can be a laid-back day without much energy to get us up and going. But these times are like that — extremes of intense energies, times of exhausted fatigue. Yesterday gave us the extreme energies, today a time to regroup and recoup by laying low and hanging out.
Sunday, March 24th – Back At It – Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune. Sunday begins with the Moon in Leo and the Moon still Void-of-Course, a Void-of-Course Moon that has gone on for over thirty-six hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Leo and before entering Virgo today. Once in Virgo, the Moon opposes Neptune today. We may be slow starting on this Sunday. We might have plans for brunch or just staying in bed curled up reading the Sunday news or watching recaps on the TV. We would like to extend our self-determined holiday of enjoying ourselves and having a good time but without too much stress or strain. We would like things easy, and we might even tap one of those Staples office supply store buttons with the imprinted word on it: EASY. That’s fine until the energy shifts, and as the Moon moves into Virgo, we might feel impelled to take care of errands, attend to matters we should have addressed before we prematurely engaged our fun weekend, and deal with whatever responsibilities we assume to be beckoning. Even if we feel the call of tasks at hand, our focus might not be the strongest. We could easily gloss over things, negate specifics and just try to deal with what needs to be done without giving much attention or engaging due diligence to whatever we are doing. It’s the weekend, and even if we feel compelled to prepare for the week ahead, we still may feel in ‘time out’ mode.
