This week we start in high gear. There’s a spring in our step, and we are ready to shake off the winter blahs. Some of those blahs may be accentuated as we start the week with the Pisces New Moon. The liability towards delusion, illusion, fantasy and indulgence cannot be discounted. There is a crescendo, like a last hurrah, to all the irrational exuberance that has masked an overweening sense of despair. Are we all waiting for the other shoe to drop? We have certainly been told that the apocalypse is upon us, and perhaps we have even bought into the projections of cataclysms galore. But why go there?
In many of the wisdom teachings, we learn that this so-called reality that we are traipsing through is all illusion, maya, the appearance but not true reality. We can be very much entangled in maya during this latter part of Winter, this end of the astrological year.
Now is a time for us to take an inventory of our lives, bring closure to matters of this passing year that we do not wish to bring into the new year with the renaissance of Spring, to tie up loose ends of outstanding issues and engage a major cleanup and clear out.
We might feel as though we do not have the energy to initiate a major clearing out, but the energy does start to pick up this week, especially with Mars exiting Pisces to enter its own Sign of Aries. We get a second wind and sense the advent of Spring close upon us.
While we might be eager to launch new projects this week, it would be advised that we plan, formulate and devise our strategies of methodology before actually initiating new projects.
This week is also the last week of Mercury retrograde, with Mercury ending its retrograde cycle through Pisces, a Sign of Mercury’s Detriment where Mercury is far from comfortable. Confusion, misunderstanding, misinterpretations and mixed messages have all been part of this Mercury retrograde cycle, which ends on Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day. With Mercury turning direct on Sunday, we can begin to disentangle ourselves from any bone-headed decisions and actions we may have made since the latter part of February.
We begin the week in turbothrust. Mid-week can have us starting things up but with an element of sputtering as we get going. The weekend is a time to take care of necessary errands, deal with straightening our affairs, and ridding ourselves of extraneous matter. The week ends on Sunday with something of a blowout as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Whether we are Irish or not, St. Patrick’s Day is a day when we are all Irish.
Monday, March 11th – Something’s Got To Give – Venus, Pisces New Moon, Sun. Monday begins the week with the Moon in Pisces and the Moon conjunct Venus and the Moon conjunct the Sun at the time of the New Moon. The New Moon influences the next two weeks and flavors even the beginning of Spring. With so much Water operating, our emotions can be heightened and our spiritual nature embraced. We may be wondering what threshold we are on, for all of us may feel as though we are coming to some endings and ready for new beginnings. Although we might have the sense of a great deal of cobwebs entangling us, we are wishing and hoping that the cobwebs can be stripped away and that we can come to greater clarity as far as our itinerary and our direction. Monday is the 11th, the master number in numerology of the visionary, and this Monday is a good day for us to reflect on where we have been over the past year and where we intend to go in the year ahead as we approach Spring. Mars is about to exit Pisces to enter its own Sign of Aries tomorrow. We may be champing at the bit to get moving, but today is a better day to consider what we need to strip ourselves of in order to move quickly ahead unhindered in the forthcoming days.
Tuesday, March 12th – Fast Out of the Starting Gate – Mars, Uranus, Jupiter. Monday night, early Tuesday morning, Mars exits Pisces and enters Aries. We may feel a major thrust of energy on this Tuesday, as though the starting gun has fired and we are off and running at a fast pace. Much of the lack of energy we might have felt over the past few weeks can dissipate, and we might feel as though we have gained a second wind. The Moon moves into Aries, and today the Moon conjuncts Mars, the Moon conjuncts Uranus, and the Moon sextiles Jupiter. This Tuesday could prove to be a day of exploration and investigation. We are looking for new avenues, interested in widening our sphere and hoping to put our imprint on activities that are different from what we have done in the past, new activities that allow us greater autonomy and that speak to the burgeoning of a new sense of ourselves. We may be impulsive, impetuous and unrestrained by what we should be doing. We are also far more self-assertive, even aggressive, than the lackadaisical attitude we might have expressed over the past few weeks.
Wednesday, March 13th – Running on Empty – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. The thrust of energy yesterday could have been a new sensation compared to the ways we have been feeling over recent months. Whether we want to term it as ‘Spring fever’ or just a second wind, yesterday could have had us off and running, doing our own thing, and virtually a law unto ourselves. Wednesday could have us hitting the wall as the Aries Moon squares Pluto. What we want to do versus the various impediments in place by our old structures, by our daily regimen and be the strictures of the power-that-be could be grossly at odds today. We might find that the strong wind that ballooned our sails yesterday has died down with us feeling like the wind knocked out of our sails. Instead of moving quickly ahead, we might feel as though we are stuck in the Sargasso Sea, idling furiously but getting nowhere. This year is replete with many Void-of-Course Moons, long periods of time when the Moon is making no connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of one Sign and before entering the succeeding Sign. Today is one of those days, as the Moon in Aries goes Void-of-Course for close to thirty-five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus later tomorrow. The energy can die down, and we might feel that wherever we are placing our energy, nothing is fully developing from it. Although we may want to continue our leaping forward, Tuesday could have us in neutral trying to get things done but without much accomplished in the process.
Thursday, March 14th – Dreamy – Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune. The Void-of-Course Moon that began yesterday continues through today as the Moon makes no connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus today. The Moon in Taurus then sextiles Neptune late in the day. We may spend much of the day starting this, beginning that, but possibly with no real follow through. We might feel as though we are dithering about. Our thoughts can be elsewhere, and our desire to expand our interests could be strong but without much energy to put our dreams into manifestation. We may feel somewhat dreamy today and we might easily engage our sentiments in making trifling purchases and indulging in sweets and satiating our appetite. It would be wise for us to keep a rein on our finances since we may be entranced into buying things that appeal to our senses but make little sense to our financial condition. We might better use this day as a ‘time out’, get out of town and enjoy quiet moments window shopping rather than purchasing.
Friday, March 15th – Getting a Grip on Things – Mercury, Saturn, Pluto. Friday can be a day when we can get things done. We might feel as though our obligations are demanding attention. The more we accomplish today, the more we can free up our time over the weekend. We do not want things hanging over us, and this Friday has the energy to tie up loose ends, eliminate some of the dross and focus on the truly meaningful. The Taurus Moon today sextiles Mercury, the Moon opposes Saturn, and the Moon trines Pluto. We could find that we have certain bills due, and that our spending may have been a little too extravagant. We can remedy the situation by sitting down and figuring out a budget, prioritizing expenses and payments and seeing where we can put a little money aside. Although the powers-that-be suggest there is little inflation, in the real world each of us has seen the increased costs in energy and food, all the while that the taxman has been taking an ever increasing bite out of our paychecks. By focusing on how we can deal with our income flow and our expenses outflow, we can become more secure in our financial condition and feel less impacted by the vicissitudes of rising costs. In the US, we are a month away from Tax Day, and we might choose this Friday to get our financial records in order so that we have a clearer picture as to where we stand.
Saturday, March 16th – Adding Panache – Venus, Sun. Saturday continues with the Taurus Moon, which today has the Moon sextile Venus and the Moon sextile the Sun. If we used Friday to get a handle on our financial situation, then this Saturday could be a day of shopping and looking at how we can add to our Spring wardrobe and add a little style to our lives. This Saturday is a good day for a personal makeover, both in regard for the preparation of Spring and as a testament to the new way we feel about ourselves. This Saturday can be a pleasant day to get together with that special someone and enjoy a leisurely lunch. We are not looking to set the world on fire, only to luxuriate in the splendor of it all. We could easily spend our way through the day, but whatever we purchase may add a little mystique to our lives.
Sunday, March 17th – Erin Go Bragh – Neptune, Mars, Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter, Mercury direct. Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day. Whether we are Irish or not, today is a day of celebration. The Moon is in Gemini and today the Moon squares Neptune, the Moon sextiles Mars, the Moon squares Mercury, the Moon sextiles Uranus, and the Moon conjuncts Jupiter. Mercury also turns direct today, ending its three-week retrograde cycle, which might have been quite a doozey for many of us — times of misunderstandings, miscommunications and mixed messages. We may be all over the place today. We are far more interested in trying a little of everything rather than being singularly focused. We do have to watch for indulgences and excesses, for our appetites might be driven more by impulsiveness than logic. Today is a day for spontaneity and being open to exciting surprises. We may not accomplish a great deal today, but we are likely to cover a lot of ground and truly enjoy the kaleidoscope of activities we engage.
