Our clarity as we start this week may not be the sharpest. Although we are feeling upbeat and exuberant, we might find ourselves dithering about. We have a great deal of energy. We just don’t know how or where to expend our energy. We could become sidetracked by shiny, sparkly situations that seem intriguing, enticing us down a gilded pathway that leads nowhere, except to a dead end.
If we don’t get ensnared by distractions and waste our energy, then as the week progresses we can be very adroit at what is really going on and adept at handling the most convoluted problems. Our intuitive sense can be highly attuned but so too are our emotional sensitivities. We may feel like dry sponges taking to water, soaking up the feelings and impressions of every one and every thing around us.
It would be wise for us to avoid the savior / martyr syndrome, a no-win game at best. Out of maudlin spirituality, we may be extremely compassionate and overly concerned about the welfare of others. But let’s keep in mind the law of karma, and that each and every one of us gets what we deserve. To borrow from The Rolling Stones:
‘You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You get what you need.’
While tough love, accountability and self-responsibility have been lost in this age of entitlement, it helps no one, neither the giver nor the taker, if we loose the find balance between service and self-sacrifice.
The mid-week period can be a highly effective time, when we can accomplish a great deal by reflecting, meditating and strategizing in our planning before we leap ahead and engage spirit in action.
The weekend is highlighted by the Aquarius New Moon, which begins the Chinese New Year of the Water Snake. In Chinese astrology, this year speaks to transition and transformation. Just as a snake sheds its skin, the interpretation for this Chinese New Year suggests corrections to some of the excesses that have gone on in years preceding. There may be various shake-ups and unexpected changes. Some of the historical events that have occurred during the years of the snake have been: 2001 – Terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon; 1989 – Tearing down of the Berlin Wall; 1977 – Restoration to power of Deng Xiaoping in China as the Gang of Four is expelled from the Communist Party; 1965 – US Troop build up in Vietnam; 1953 – Josef Stalin dies, Dwight Eisenhower becomes US President and the Korean War ends; 1941 – Attack on Pearl Harbor and the US entry into World War II; 1929 – Stock Market crash and the Great Depression; 1917 – World War I and the Russian Revolution. Snake years promise snake-ups and shake-ups and extreme measures.
All in all, this week continues the volatility of ups and downs and spun all around. Timing is everything and if we don’t get lost in an emotional morass, we could find ourselves highly productive in preparation for new projects, surprising developments and a new year, the year of the snake.
Monday, February 4th – Where Do We Go From Here – Mercury, Lunar T-Square, Mars, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter. Monday starts the week with the Scorpio Moon square Mercury. The Moon then moves into Sagittarius where the Moon creates a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Moon squares both Mars and Neptune in Pisces and opposes Jupiter in Gemini. The Moon today also sextiles Venus and trines Uranus. Mars conjuncts Neptune. We may begin the week in high gear, ready to take on the world. Our initial thrust, however, can be impeded by our doubts as to whether we have the resources to move confidently ahead. We might not take the time to devise our plans or consider the implications of our intended actions. On the contrary, once engaged, we could be full steam ahead moving forward with passion and determination but perhaps without either the itinerary or direction clear in our mind. Buying into images and appearances could be strong today, and we need to watch that we don’t fall for some pie in the sky schemes. Due diligence would be suggested, likely unused. If we get locked into a mindset of good luck, miracles and magic at our beck and call, then we could find ourselves sliding down a slippery slope whereby our initial movements only become more aggravated with us going in the wrong direction at an accelerated pace with some dire consequences. This is a day when we need to put on the brakes, wait for signs, and even take advice from other people who might be far more detached and objective in considering what we are planning, doing and the ways we are doing things. This is a day that asks us to take off the blinders, consider options and alternatives, and not get head strong into what we believe we should do and what we should have. The opportunities are by letting go and being open to receive.
Tuesday, February 5th – Shifting Gears – Sun, Mercury Pisces. Tuesday has the Moon in Sagittarius trine the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over twenty-one hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before entering Capricorn tomorrow. We may be feeling good about things, but the question remains whether we are seeing true reality or seduced by enticing illusions. The major significance of this day is the shift in energies. We are moving from a Stellium of three or more planets in Aquarius, which is ending, into a Stellium of three or more planets in Pisces, as Mercury today moves into Pisces and joins Mars and Neptune. Not only is Mercury in Detriment in Pisces, unable to think clearly with reasoning analysis lost to emotional feelings. With Mercury in Pisces and Jupiter in Gemini, we have a Mutual Reception where one planet is in the Sign of another planet and that other planet is in the Sign of the first planet. In this case, Mercury is in a Sign co-ruled [along with Neptune] by Jupiter, and Jupiter is in a Sign ruled by Mercury. Unfortunately, both Mercury and Jupiter are in Detriment, in Signs that are ill-fitting for each. Clarity can be lost to superficial enquiries and a desire to cover many bases but solely in a most perfunctory manner. This situation will become aggravated later this month and into March when Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces. The shift from an emphasis on Aquarius to an emphasis on Pisces also changes the energy parameters considerably. The innovative, iconoclastic and futuristic give way to the sensitive, feeling and compassionate. With so much water, we have to be wary of drowning in our emotions or falling prey to the no-win game of martyr / savior, whereby no matter how much we do it may be judged, either by ourselves or someone else or both, as being neither good enough nor effective. While this shift in energy can also lead to a spiritual awakening, it is essential that we not feel victimized by circumstance.
Wednesday, February 6th – Slow Starting Then Fully Engaged – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Neptune, Mars, Uranus, Venus. The day begins with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius without making any further connections to the planets. The day may be slow starting, not because we aren’t enthused about the day. We may have gas in the tank, but we could find our transmission in neutral with us stepping on the accelerator, revving the engine but getting nowhere. Perhaps our intentions for the day would lead us in the wrong direction. For the beauty of this day could be unexpected situations that lead us in a different way or allow us to utilize different methods to get things done. Venus sextiles Uranus and Mercury conjuncts Neptune. We may hear about something or learn about something that sparks our interest and engages our transmission into drive. Our intuitive sense can be strong today and we can put it to good use. With our two higher sense faculties stirred, we can focus on a best practices approach as the Moon enters Capricorn where today the Moon sextiles the three Pisces-transiting planets of Mercury, Neptune and Mars. Late in the day, the Moon squares Uranus. With new insights and better understanding as to what is happening in our lives and all around us, we can draw upon a best practices approach to get things done and attend to our routine obligations. We could streamline our operations, tie up loose ends and clear some space in order to take on new projects or devote our time to those projects we might have had to put on the back burner. This can be a highly productive day, and a day when we might feel guided by a force larger than our own.
Thursday, February 7th – Finishing Touches Before Downtime – Pluto, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Jupiter. We all know the saying ‘make hay while the sun shines’, and the saying may be no more true than during this year and during yesterday and early today. It is surprising how much time and how many days we have the Moon Void-of-Course this year. Thursday begins with the Capricorn Moon conjunct Pluto and the Moon sextile Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for thirty and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before moving into Aquarius tomorrow. Venus trines Jupiter today. We could have accomplished a great deal yesterday. Things may have come together fairly easily and we could have been highly productive. The early part of Thursday continues the trend. This is a day for completions, for clearing the decks and cleaning up clutter. Outstanding issues can be resolved and we can tie up various loose ends. We may also find ourselves contacting people, either just touching base with friends with whom we haven’t spoken for a while or putting out feelers regarding future prospects we might wish to explore. If we have used the energies to their optimum yesterday and early today, we could find that we have downtime to catch up with the simple pleasures of our lives. A little downtime never hurt anyone. In fact, having downtime allows certain thoughts and foci to settle and new thoughts and ideas to gestate and percolate.
Friday, February 8th – Dreaming – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Mars. Friday begins with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn without connecting to any of the planets. The Moon then moves into Aquarius but makes no connections to the planets today. The one aspect of the day is Mercury conjunct Mars. We could find ourselves dreaming of our possibilities, all the things we wish to do in the days ahead. We could be rather moody and may have some cobwebs in our head, not thinking clearly but impassioned by whatever comes to mind. This would be a day for mindmapping, considering all our potentialities but within the focus of a particular activity or topic. We could be lost in our thoughts, but reveries are healthy respites from our mundane reality, for they allow us to consider scenarios unhindered by our obligations or our everyday life situations. This Friday is a day for dreaming, but let’s avoid our mental meanderings from going down rabbit holes of nightmares and anxieties. Today is a good day for good thoughts and dreaming with the realization that in these volatile times and this paradigm shift into asequential reality even the impossible can become possible.
Saturday, February 9th – In the Still of the Night – Uranus, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Mercury. Although today is the dark of the Moon with the New Moon late tonight, early tomorrow, there could be a lot going on today. We may want to throw wide open the doors and participate in as much as possible. Yes, on this Saturday we could be stepping out. The Moon in Aquarius today sextiles Uranus, the Moon trines Jupiter, the Moon conjuncts Venus and the Moon squares Saturn. Mercury squares Jupiter today. Although we may feel as though the world is our oyster today, we could also sup too much. Indulgences and excesses are likely, as we look to cover all bases and then some. We do need to keep tabs on our costs, whether those costs are our finances, our physical energy or too much of too muches. This Saturday can be a fun day, a time to get together with good friends, explore new interests and spread our wings wide. We just have to pace ourselves, for we could be so engrossed in having a good time from dawn to dusk, that by nightfall we could have burned ourselves out. Let’s enjoy the day but keep a rein on our expenditures. People could be talking up a storm and we need to be careful that we don’t give or receive too much information, another one of those too muches liable on this day.
Sunday, February 10th – Happy New Year, Snake – Aquarius New Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune, Mars, Jupiter. Late Saturday, early Sunday signals the Chinese New Year of the Water Snake with the Sun Moon conjunction in Aquarius. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for fourteen hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces where the Moon conjuncts Neptune. Mars squares Jupiter today. This Chinese New Year of the Water Snake talks about transitions and transformations, major changes and unexpected developments. With a sense of impending shifts and changes, we may not be fully clear about our direction, our goals or our itinerary. We may want to broaden our interests and widen our scope, but in so doing we could cast our fates to the wind, try various things out but without either being fully committed or with clear intent. This day calls for us to draw upon other people for input, to gain advice from those who are not emotionally tied to our issues but instead can provide a detached and objective perspective to what is not only going on in our lives but also some of the thoughts we have regarding our future intentions. Let’s keep in mind that every journey begins with a first step. Today we step into the new year and a world of possibilities. Some of the possibilities may prove to be shimmering fantasies, others seed thoughts that could eventually develop into a major facet of our lives. Let’s keep an open mind, and embrace the wonder of it all. Today is a day to celebrate our world of limitless possibilities and wonderful friends that add greatly to our lives. Celebrate with great passion the hope and the promise that forthcoming changes in our lives lead to greater self-growth, self-development and en-lightenment.
