January 7th – 13th, 2013

The Capricorn influence intensifies this week, and we might witness the truth to the old idiom: ‘the devil is in the details.’ If we have been focused on our grand plans, the big picture and our resolutions for the new year, this week may force us to take a more detailed look at our intentions. The specifics and particulars come into play this week. We might question whether we have the resources to pull off our great designs. While we could be frustrated by realizations regarding what has gone on without our notice, those factors we had ignored and the minutiae we had overlooked; our resourcefulness may be called into play. Let’s keep in mind, always keep in mind, that in this new paradigm we do not have to do it all. That on the contrary, by working with peripheral vision and being open to possibilities, even seemingly impossibilities, there may be a way to achieve our goals and our ambitions.

This week, much like most of life right now, can be a real roller coaster. During these times, it is essential that we avoid any knee jerk reactions, those impetuous moves that may not take into account unfolding realities or those asequential situations that come out of the blue. It is important that we not fall into victim mode or assume that we are merely pawns in the grand scheme of things.

The week begins on a dull note. We might feel thwarted and have very little energy to move mountains, much less accomplish our routine obligations. We could feel as though the wind has been knocked out of our sails. New realities may seem to impose greater restrictions and a diminishment of our resources. Although we often assume mid-April as the time when the ‘taxman cometh’, various new laws and regulations could make us aware in our first paycheck of 2013 that the ‘taxman arriveth’ as our take-home pay is adversely impacted.

With a greater understanding of the new parameters, we can use this week both to budget our resources and expand our projects under the new backdrop of conditions. This is a week when we can line up our ducks in a row, tie up loose ends of outstanding matters and prepare for our future projects.

Much of the week, we can clean up and clear out the clutter from our past, strip away the non-essential and focus on expanding into new realms. The end of the week gives us the impetus to devise a best practices approach in detail, prioritize our goals and consider how we can take a broader approach rather than a singular focus, with us better able to play the xylophone rather than concentrating on the one note samba.

Over the weekend, we may wish to get together with friends and loved ones. Discussions with other people could make us aware of options and alternatives we might not have considered. Other people as sounding boards can help us fine tune our plans, but we do have to watch for those people with limited vision and unable to appreciate the new realities of this paradigm shift into synchronicity, serendipity and asequential reality. The fun is in the magic and the miracles of these times.

Monday, January 7th – Banging Up Against It – Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Saturn. Monday begins the week with the Scorpio Moon sextile the Sun. Much of our focus may be associated with getting rid of the old before fully engaging the new. We might be looking at clearing the decks, cleaning up the clutter and bringing closure to any elements of this past year that we no longer wish to engage during this new year of 2013. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost twenty-one hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Scorpio and before entering Sagittarius tomorrow. The kicker to the day could be the Mars square Saturn. Our grand plans might now seem great illusions. We might adopt an attitude that we just do not have the resources to accomplish our plans and achieve our goals. Although we may have reasoned things out, devised a clear and good strategy, the sense of pushing the envelope and forcing situations could make our plans like a house of cards, all fall down. Although we might feel frustrated and even despondent, we have to be wary of putting on blinders, limiting our scope of vision, and accepting the old assumptions of our being in control of events and circumstances. We need to keep in mind, always keep in mind, that we no longer are the sole determiners of life’s unfolding [as if we ever were!]. On the contrary, we are increasingly in the midst of asequential reality, a true reality where linear, sequential progression is giving way to unexpected variables, where things can occur in unanticipated ways and doors can open to us that we never assumed to be possible. Even when we feel up against it and as if banging our head against the wall, it would be wise for us to do the egg timer exercise. Set the egg timer for five minutes and allow ourselves to vent with all the wrongs, injustices, senses of powerlessness and victimization that we can rant on. But once the egg timer goes off, let’s wash our face and hands and visualize our worries washing down the drain. Attitude is a major determiner in the unfolding of our events.

Tuesday, January 8th – Out of the Gate at Breakneck Speed – Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Jupiter, Uranus, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus Capricorn. What a difference a day makes! Yesterday, we might have felt as though the world, and the stars, were aligned against us. We may have been slogging along, but today is a world of difference. Today, the Moon moves into Sagittarius where today the Moon creates a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon square Neptune and the Moon opposed Jupiter. The Moon trines Uranus, and the Moon sextiles Mars. Late in the day, early Wednesday, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost thirty and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before entering Capricorn on Thursday. Late on this Tuesday, early Wednesday, Venus exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn increasing the Stellium of three or more planets in Capricorn to four as Venus joins Mercury, Pluto and the Sun in the Cardinal Earth Sign. This Tuesday could have us fast out of the gate wanting to accomplish as much as possible and then some. We might have all sorts of wild ideas as to where to place our energies. Some of these ideas may be wild and crazy, others might be wild and exciting new avenues for us to earnestly pursue. While we might not have clear direction, much less focused itinerary, regarding what we want to do, such discombobulation could be a blessing in disguise. For this Tuesday could be one of those days of magic and miracles, whereby unexpected situations pop up, grab our interest and entice us to follow along. And such a disposition today might not be a bad idea. Let’s keep in mind that during these times, various incidents, situations, events and people can all pop up unexpectedly. While we might have to be spontaneous and impulsive, a blending of new adventures with the right approach might be something to consider. It is important, however, that we sift and filter those situations that truly appeal and those that might be mindless diversions to take us away from our routine. Let’s engage those that truly speak to us and avoid those wasteful distractions. The Capricorn influence may rein in some of our impulsive actions but let’s not lose spontaneity and creativity to the old familiar, tried and true.

Wednesday, January 9th – Dreaming – Moon Void-of-Course. The Sagittarius Moon is Void-of-Course making no connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before entering Capricorn tomorrow. Nothing much is happening today, at least nothing much that could prove worthwhile. Today is a day for dreaming, for taking a walk in the countryside or a drive into unfamiliar terrain. This is a day for us to sit back, consider how we could expand our interests and develop our ideas. If we try to implement our plans, we might find that we have journeyed on the long and winding road that could lead us all over the place before landing us back to where we started from. Daydreaming, imagining possibilities and visualizing who we could be are all good uses of today’s expansive energies. There are times when we need a ‘time out’ from our regular routine and from launching new projects just to let our thoughts wander and our mind meander. Today is one of those times. If we do start things up or expand our interests today, let’s use the latter part of the week to fine tune, hone and recalibrate whatever we have started on this day.

Thursday, January 10th – It Had To Be – Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Pluto, Saturn. Thursday has the Moon in Capricorn, which today has the Moon sextile Neptune, the Moon conjunct Venus, the Moon square Uranus, the Moon conjunct Pluto and the Moon sextile Saturn. Venus sextiles Neptune. While there is a great deal of energy today, it would be wise for us to keep in mind that today is on the dark side of the Moon, prior to tomorrow’s New Moon. We can formulate and plan on this Thursday, and we can attend to outstanding matters. If we are thinking of implementing our new plans, then it might be wise to do so after tomorrow’s New Moon. Our interactions with other people today can be quite serendipitous, being in the right place at the right time, with an idyllic quality and therein could lie a problem. We might assume that things and people are great, but we might be looking from a most idealistic perspective. We can see the best in everything today. If we are willing to focus and concentrate on the essence and the substance of a situation, then we can blend a strong visionary viewpoint with a specific and detailed blueprint. We might feel as though we are being guided by our manifest destiny, that trajectory that could be predetermined for us by our soul’s contract. Let’s keep in mind that on this journey through our life experience we are also being asked to exercise our free will and our choice. Although we can be seduced by images and appearances, the test arises in our discernment and our judgment. While there are no mistakes in life, there are challenges and opportunities. It is always wise to pull back the curtain on the wizard of oz screen to see what is truly going on behind the image. This Thursday can be enticing, but it is important for us not to merely buy into the presentation but to determine the true reality behind the image.

Friday, January 11th – Taking Care of Business – Mercury, Capricorn New Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Friday has the Capricorn Moon conjunct Mercury and the Moon conjunct the Sun at the time of the Capricorn New Moon. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over thirteen hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Capricorn and before entering Aquarius. This month’s heavy emphasis of Capricorn is further accentuated by this Capricorn New Moon, which influences the next two weeks. We can highly concentrate our energies on taking charge of our projects and plans, utilizing a best practices approach and engineering a flawless blueprint for realizing our goals. January allows us to move things forward both by means of our own wit, intelligence and perseverance and by help from the universe, what we might consider to be ‘luck’ but is truly simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time, also known as the synchronicity and serendipity of this new paradigm. This day is a day for us to plan, strategize and implement. We can accomplish a great deal today. To avoid spinning our wheels, it is essential that we make our list, check it twice and then check things off as we take care of what needs to get done. An interesting factor of this year is the extremes of action and non-action. There are times when we might be able to literally move mountains as if solely by our intention and willing it; other times when the energy is still, almost stagnant, and we might feel proceeding ahead to be like rolling a boulder up a mountain Sisyphus-like. It’s all about cycles and working within the phases of those cycles that is the key to successfully navigating the currents of these times.

Saturday, January 12th – Push Pulls – Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus. Within the volatility of these times, not only are the energies akin to a roller coaster with times of slogging ahead, other times the turbo-thrust of accelerated movement. These times also incorporate energies of a push pull fashion whereby we are torn between what has been, the familiar and the traditional, and what could be, the exciting, unknown and adventuresome. This Saturday incorporates energies of a tug of war between exciting new opportunities and the standards of old expectations. The Moon on this Saturday is in Aquarius, and today the Moon sextiles Uranus, the Moon trines Jupiter, and the Moon squares Saturn. Venus squares Uranus. We may wake up to a desire to try something new, allow ourselves to be spontaneous and hit the open road of some great adventure. We are not interested in same old, same old. This is a new year, and in this new year we want to explore, investigate, try out and see new landscapes, experience new realities. At the same time, people may have certain expectations of who we are, what we do and how we do things. Any attempt at greater self-discovery on our part can creep certain people out, since it forces them not only to change the definition of who we are but also asks them to look at their own life circumstances and question whether what they have been, how they have been doing it and who they are is in snych with the present times. Change is difficult for many and a crossing that some shy away from. These times, and especially the forthcoming Chinese new year of the snake, are times of transition, transformation and change big time. Even if we step on toes, we are not looking at sitting idly by and watching the river flow. We would far prefer to be in the flow and engage a world of self-discovery. This Saturday is a day for us to do so but with the recognition that we might have some pushback from people who question the wisdom of our explorations.

Sunday, January 13th – After the Dance – Mars, Moon Void-of-Course. We often consider Sunday to be a day of rest, and this Sunday can live up to its characterization. Yesterday may have had us spreading our wings, juggling any number of activities, all the while that someone might have tried to play wing clipper to our plans and our activities. This Sunday continues with the Aquarius Moon, which early today has the Moon conjunct Mars. We may have chosen to push the envelope, to have engaged more activities than reasonably considered, and in the process wore ourselves out. After the Moon conjuncts Mars in the early morning hours, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over twenty-six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces tomorrow. We may choose to hang out with good friends on this Sunday, relax and reflect on some of the possibilities we have considered or even engaged that may prove to be focused interests in the days ahead. Times spent with a special someone can both be heartening and a good source for a solid sounding board to contemplate our plans and consider some of the changes we might want to integrate into our daily lives. This is a good day to step off the track, take some quiet time and consider our options and alternatives. Let’s keep in mind that we are not automatons and that the energy shifts quickly and dramatically. We might have been in full speed ahead at times over this week, but today would be a time for us to slow things down, evaluate and re-evaluate where we are and where we wish to go in the days ahead.
