As if we don’t have enough to contend with, this week signals the start of the holiday season and ramps up the frenetic energy. Ramps up? Many of us have been sprinting, running on empty and juggling as much as we possibly can just to keep up with our daily activities. Exhausted yet? Some of us are, and especially if we have been trying to use old methods during these changing times. We are being asked to shift into turbo-thrust, to deal with our lives more effectively with less expenditure of energy.
The primary shift in life’s conditions for all of us to realize is that we are not so much in control of our life’s circumstances as we are reacting to the curveballs thrown at us and handling those curveballs as productively and expeditiously as we can. We can do it, and we need to keep in mind the wise and true saying that ‘we never get more than we can handle.’ We may not like some of the incidents that arise in our lives, but it would be wise for us to suspend judgment, not engage in a ‘pity party’ but just attend to things the best we can. During these volatile times of unexpected situations arising, those curveballs to our lives, we may just need to change our modus operandi and recognize the power of the universal unfolding and our position as having shifted from engineer directing things to navigator adjusting to the climate.
In the US this week is Thanksgiving week with Thanksgiving on Thursday followed on Friday with Black Friday, the ‘unofficial’ kickoff of the holiday shopping season. Parties, social occasions and shopping trips are thrown into the mix of our trying to get through our daily life’s situations. We may feel that some of our engagements are done out of obligation, the necessity of interacting with family and friends when we might prefer doing something totally other than our dutiful commitments. It is what it is and grousing about what we have agreed to may serve no purpose except to fuel the fires of resentment and deplete our energies to the point of exhaustion.
The early part of the week can have us making our plans for the week ahead, the weekend and the next six weeks. Like an old habit pattern, we might wish to know our schedule ahead of time. As a reminder, it is important to be aware that life nowadays can shift in a nanosecond and so having contingency plans or not being totally engaged in our plans would avoid disappointment if scheduled activities fall by the wayside. Increasingly, we are being asked to be nimble and quick in addressing and dealing with unexpected variables that alter or dramatically shift our plans.
The latter part of the week may have us fast out of the starting gate. There are things we might want to do, and for some of us this is a long, long holiday weekend. Certainly, there will be time to do some fun things, engage in various social gatherings and enjoy the thrust of this holiday season. We do have to be especially careful to avoid accidents. The energy could easily get away from us, and we might find that haste not only makes waste but could also make us accident-prone.
Some of our focus over the weekend can be preparing our homes for the holidays — putting up decorations, shopping for gifts and preparing eggnog and other holiday foods.
While there is a strong flavor of tradition this week, it would be wise for us to keep to a budget, maintain a conservative spending approach and not overdo on the holiday spirits.
Monday, November 19th – Our Eyes Bigger Than – Jupiter, Mercury. Monday starts the week with the Moon in Aquarius. Today, the Moon trines Jupiter and the Moon squares Mercury. We may have all sorts of grand plans for this day. We could be feeling upbeat and exuberant about our future. People can be talking about great prospects, ideas full of potential. We might feel inspired by what we hear and accept the belief that the way things are being presented are the way that things will be. There are times when things seem too good to be true, and today’s discussions could include specious promises. If we do not engage due diligence today, we could buy the Brooklyn Bridge and various arteries leading to the bridge. This is a day when our confidence and enthusiasm could get the better of us. We might overspend or take on financial commitments that we might have difficulty meeting, especially if some of the grand promises fall flat. Our eyes today may be bigger than our stomach, or certainly bigger than our financial wherewithal. Let’s enjoy the day but let’s also avoid taking on long-term definitive commitments that could put a drain on our resources. We might want what we want but we have to soberly ask the question as to whether we can afford it in terms of our resources of time, energy and finances. This day is a good day to go slow, enjoy the images and presentations without going overboard and getting ourselves into hock.
Tuesday, November 20th – Heightened Intuition and Feeling Moody – Venus, Sun, Neptune, Mars, Saturn. Tuesday begins with the Moon finishing its transit of Aquarius. As it does so, the Moon trines Venus and the Moon squares the Sun. We may still be champing at the bit to make some type of purchase or participate in some scheme encouraged by someone close to us. They may have our best intentions in mind, but they could also be urging us to crawl further out on a limb. We have to be careful that we don’t go too far out on a limb, for while other people might be our best advocates, they may also not fully realize our situation. A tendency to be seduced into things that seem so appealing cannot be discounted today. And we could easily go full speed ahead into new situations without fully taking into account all the specifics and unanticipated variables that could impact the conditions. The Moon moves into Pisces where today the Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon sextiles Mars and the Moon trines Saturn. We may hope for best results and we might even strategize a best practices approach and then go headlong into our endeavors. While we might be guided by our sense of things more than focused analysis, we are likely to avoid some of the pitfalls of irrational exuberance by devising our strategies with checks and balances and evaluations along the way. Less is more today, so even if we do proceed with new engagements, we are likely to do so with passion, determination but also with resourcefulness. This can be a highly effective day if we blend our confidence with a no-nonsense approach of making sure we get the most bang for our buck.
Wednesday, November 21st – Shifting Tides – Venus, Jupiter, Sun Sagittarius, Venus Scorpio. Wednesday continues with the Pisces Moon, which today has the Moon sextile Pluto and the Moon square Jupiter. We may have the best intentions today, be particularly focused on the truly important things that need to be done, but we could be easily distracted by someone’s input and our own impetus to take on ever more. As if we don’t have enough to do already? This Wednesday sees some significant shifts in energy as the Sun exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius while Venus exits its own Sign of Libra to enter Scorpio, where Venus is not comfortable, late today – early Thursday. The Sun’s entry into Sagittarius creates by Sign a Mutable T-Square with the Sagittarius transiting planets first squaring Neptune in Pisces and then opposing Jupiter in Gemini. Through the end of the year and into January, we may find ourselves juggling ever more activities, sometimes wondering why but never giving up our pace. Can we say an exhausting period is upon us? Today and the next two days can be a hodge-podge of energies. We shall need to be fully attentive to what is going on, not rush forward, since we could either go in the wrong direction or be accident-prone. We could also find ourselves being far more critical of other people, accentuating their flaws, negating their positive attributes. People may be far more secretive, unwilling to reveal much except perfunctory remarks. It would be wise for us not to attempt figuring out where other people are coming from since a sense of mystery, even intrigue, can likely hang in the air.
Thursday, November 22nd – Attitude of Gratitude – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Neptune, Venus. Thursday in the US is Thanksgiving Day, the day when we tend to gather with family and friends to give thanks and appreciation for all the blessings in our lives. At least, that sentiment is the concept for the day and one that has been carried on as something of a Hallmark Holiday. In reality, this day is often a day when we need to meet certain family obligations of getting together with people we might not always choose to surround ourselves with, a day when excess and indulgence are commended and encouraged to the point of being a gourmand, and a day when conversation trails off at the time of the sports kickoff and discussions then revolve around this play or that play without much depth of subject engaged. Late Wednesday, early Thursday, the Pisces Moon trines Mercury before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost nineteen hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries late in the day with the Aries Moon trine the Sun. This Thursday also has the Sun square Neptune and Venus trine Neptune. We may feel out of sorts today. We may be easily snookered by images and appearances. We want to believe, but our desire may be more based on blind faith than seeing situations clearly. Perhaps it’s a sense of what we have to do, but we might feel in a state of confusion. Our desire for how things ‘should be’ could be close to idyllic with us painting pretty pictures of the way things could, should, be. While our imagination can be fired up, we might feel as though we are unable to achieve the hopes, wishes and dreams that we envision. This is a day when it would be wise for us to embrace an attitude of gratitude no matter what our life circumstances might be. We could easily play the victim or martyr today, but why go there? If we can step off the track of our daily existence today, take time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, then we can recharge our batteries, bump up our faith and fire up a belief in better days ahead. Towards the end of the day, we get a second wind and we might be looking to get back fast on the track.
Friday, November 23rd – Accidents Waiting to Happen – Uranus, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter. The Friday after Thanksgiving in the US is often referred to as ‘Black Friday’, for it kicks off the holiday shopping season. People tend to camp out in anticipation of the stores opening early and the expectation of some grand bargains to buy. Although some stores are scheduling to open even late on Thursday evening of Thanksgiving, a novel approach to beating the competition to store openings, the sense of the starting gun firing to open the gates of stores is ramped up on this Friday thanks to the energy configurations. Unfortunately, the energies could indicate a mad rush similar to a stampede with liabilities to the same results of people being pushed forward, falling over, stepped on and stepped over. This Friday could have people highly accident-prone. Impetuousness and impulsiveness can reign supreme today. This Friday has the Aries Moon conjunct Uranus, the Moon square both Mars and Pluto, and the Moon sextile Jupiter before the Moon goes Void-of-Course late in the day, early on Saturday. The kicker to the day, however, is Mars squares Uranus. Unexpected situations are likely to occur and we shall need eyes in the back of our head to avert possible disasters. People may not be thinking clearly today, more likely to be rushing around like the proverbial ‘chickens with their heads cut off’. This Friday can be a nasty day, one when we need to have our antennae up for any disruptions or discord. Frenzy is the word that highlights this day. If we can get a handle on the energy, and that will be a tall order, then we can accomplish a great deal. In our impetuousness we do have to be extremely careful around machinery and fires. This is not a day to go blindly into the night but rather one when we need to be fully aware of what is going on all around us.
Saturday, November 24th – After the Rush – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Saturn. If we didn’t fall down the rabbit hole or hurt ourselves yesterday, this Saturday allows us to straighten things out. The Aries Moon is Void-of-Course for close to thirty-six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus tomorrow. The Void-of-Course began late yesterday, early today and casts a lack of energy over this Saturday. We do have Mars sextile Saturn today. Although things can slow down today, and especially in comparison to yesterday’s frantic and frenzied activity, we can also get a grip today, focus on a best practices approach, take things step by step and plan our holiday engagements. We may be doing some sorting out today, an inventory taking of both what we need to get for our holiday engagements and also what we need to get rid of to be unburdened by the outworn and no longer used. This is a day to slow things down, make a budget and a plan, and consider a best practices approach to do what we feel we need to do and streamline our operations. Today is more likely a day of rest or at the very least a more strategic use of our energies and our resources.
Sunday, November 25th – What We Want, What We Need – Neptune, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Pluto. After a lengthy Void-of-Course Moon as the Moon finished its transit of Aries, the Moon moves into Taurus today and today the Moon sextiles Neptune, the Moon opposes both Venus and Saturn, and the Moon trines both Mars and Pluto. We may awaken today with all sorts of intentions in mind. We have a desire to create a special holiday period for ourselves and for our loved ones. We recognize that each of us, and every one of us, has been going through a particularly difficult time. Life in recent years has not been especially easy and often not very happy-making. Although we would like to make this forthcoming holiday a special one, let’s keep in mind that living simply is not simply living. As the classic 1920’s song reminds us: ‘the best things in life are free.’ While we have all been conditioned into accepting the belief that greater expense equates with greater quality, it is not always so. Today is a day for us to be resourceful, to figure out ways by which we can show our love and our appreciation without breaking the bank. We can focus on simple ways to express our feelings and give form to our sentiments. We also need to be aware that this is the last full day of the Mercury retrograde. Tomorrow, Mercury will turn direct. Whenever Mercury is about to change direction, whether from direct to retrograde or retrograde to direct motion, things get especially squirrely. Messages are not received, communications can be off, traffic problems can arise and Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever could go wrong can go wrong’ seems to be operating at every turn in the road. Let’s avoid rash decisions and knee-jerk reactions today. The more we can slow things down, engage our thought processes before moving ahead, the less liable we shall be to mistakes, misunderstandings, and missed opportunities.
