September 2012

September ratchets up the energy, engages our passion, and stirrups our determination. Such increased intensity would be all well and good if we knew what we wanted to do, where we are going and how to get to where we intend to go. Unfortunately, we may start the month slightly off center, out of focus, and entangled in dysfunctional affairs.

September starts with a great deal of energy, fairly frenetic energy, and the energy could easily get ahead of us and then away from us. We might proceed forward with great intent but with no direction and a modest itinerary. We may be so wrapped up in movement that we forget where we are going. Excessive confidence and exuberant optimism can create a folly’s journey where we could expend a great deal of energy but with few positive results.

September begins just after the Blue Moon on the 31st of August when we had a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Sun Moon opposition in orb of squaring Jupiter. We might be confident in our plans, but our plans might be more like fantastic castles in the air than practical, pragmatic ideas that we could turn into true reality.

Confusion could be the highlight as we start the month. We may have so much going on that we lose our focus and start juggling any number of things but without clarity or concentrated attention.

The month starts with Mercury opposed Neptune on the 1st. If we would slow down, take our time and consider our options in a methodical and detailed manner, then we could come up with a visionary plan that has the specific particulars in place… if we can slow down. If we rush forward, then we are more likely to traverse a maze rather than a labyrinth, the former getting us lost and taking us in circles, while the latter would allow us to get to the core of the situation and provide a healthy integration of our intention with a best practices approach.

Although we are living during volatile times and often feel the need to immediately act or react, it would be wise for us to consider the principles of tai chi, whereby we become aware of the energies operating and then work with the energies in a conscientious and grounded manner rather than our being merely reactive and consequently worked over by the energies.

These times demand that we be aware and mindful, with times for us to act and other times for us not to act. The key, and the chi, is being mindful of which is which and then how best to work with the energies.

The 3rd of September has Venus square Saturn and Mars sextile Pluto. People may be hypercritical of other people’s statements or actions. Relationships could be dicey with people acting with an all or nothing characteristic, and no quarter given or half measures accepted. Outstanding matters with other people could get in our way, and we might be less than diplomatic in sorting out things. We could play victim to other people’s demands or be incredibly cavalier to someone’s needs. Our emotions could get the better of us. I would suggest that we not jump to conclusions and then rush forward with indomitable determination. We could wind up on a path of brambles and tattered connections.

The ability to strategize, focus on the fundamentals and devise a best practices approach by which to achieve our goals in the most resourceful and expeditious manner could be offered us by the Mercury trine Pluto on the 4th. If we have a chip on our shoulder, and many people are likely to have such chips or even shoulder boulders, then this great laser-like quality can become acerbic, cutting and bitter in statements and in discussions. Why go there when we can use our reasoning, analytical abilities to get to the heart of any matter and devise the expeditious means to achieve our goals?

Venus exits Cancer to enter Leo on the 6th of September. We are looking to putting on the Ritz and can easily justify a shopping spree for a wardrobe that will present us in our autumn best. Our relationships can become all about ‘me’, as we choose to stand on center stage with everyone else revolving around us. A sense of narcissism can be in the air, as we reflect upon our image and how good we are looking.

This self-absorption may be enhanced with the Sun square Jupiter on the 7th, followed by Mercury square Jupiter on the 8th. The liability to overconfidence cannot be discounted. We could easily make errors in judgment and mistakes in our actions due to a sense of self-importance, self-confidence and irrational exuberance. We might feel as though nothing can go wrong, that we are playing at the top of our game and that all are impressed by us. A little humility would be nice, but could also be sorely lacking. As long as we keep it to a mutual admiration society, everyone will be pleased.

On the 13th, Venus trines Uranus, and we might have some lovely surprises and serendipitous contacts with some interesting new people. We do have to be wary that we do not get carried away, either by the intrigue of something new and different or by our own self-focus. Our creativity could be strong now and we might engage a personal makeover, looking to make changes to our appearance, our wardrobe, and our style of living. We can be innovative, iconoclastic and keeping scintillating company.

The Virgo New Moon on the 15th could allow for a reasoned approach with an opportunity to evaluate what we might have involved ourselves with earlier in the month. We can develop presentations that are impressive with every detail finetuned and neatly in place. Now would also be a good time for us to prepare for the autumn ahead with the recognition that the coming season may continue the volatility of these times with a significant Sign change with Saturn exiting Libra after two and a half years and about to enter Scorpio for two and a half years as we come into October. [Surprise!].

Mercury exits its own Sign of Virgo on the 16th to enter Libra. We may be less critical of others and more interested in what they are doing and how they are doing. We may make plans to get together with people for late summer fun or autumn’s fairs and festivals. More so now, we are appreciative of other people’s viewpoints and interested in hearing other people’s opinions. With Mercury entering Libra and later in the week the Sun entering Libra at the Fall Equinox, the Cardinal Sign T-Square will be engaged as the Libra transiting planets oppose Uranus and square Pluto.

Pluto turns direct on the 18th and Uranus squares Pluto on the 19th. On the 20th, Mercury triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square as Mercury opposes Uranus and Mercury squares Pluto. People can be bombastic, sabre-rattling and reading each other the riot act. It would be wise for us to avoid any precipitous acts or belligerent discussions, since the ramifications could include the law of unintended consequences. These energies could prove problematic and disruptive to air travel, communications, computer matters, motor vehicles and most forms of machinery.

This period can be an especially explosive time, with bomb blasts, actings out, and revolutionary incidents threatening traditional institutions. We may see the birthing pangs of a new day, but the death rattle of the old and the old patterns falling away may create a traumatic sensation as we try to maintain a semblance of balance during drastic upheaval times. This would be a time when the world could shake virtually to its core, as a result of earth movements or human actions or possibly even both.

The end of summer is unlikely to go out with a whimper but rather with a boom, a blast and a bust. To borrow from the father of Rap, Gil Scott-Heron: ‘The revolution will not be televised’.

As we enter autumn on the 22nd and the Sun enters Libra at the Fall Equinox, we now have a Stellium of three or more planets in the Cardinal Air Sign as the Sun joins Mercury and Saturn in Libra. While we may all be in search of peace and serenity, the process could prove less than harmonic. There may be a great deal of shaking and turbulence to bring closure to the past and to cross the threshold into brighter days.

During the last week of September, Mercury trines Jupiter on the 26th. We may find solace, albeit a brief respite, in conversations with other people. If we have not created egregious situations in our relationships, we can all acknowledge the intensity of these times and the liability for each and every one of us at some time to shoot from the lip. This is a time when we can chuckle in bemusement at the sight of human foibles, our own included. We may feel that we can make it through whatever we encounter with a little help from our friends.

Bringing closure to the month on the 29th – 30th is the Aries Full Moon and a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Libra Sun opposed Uranus and the Sun square Pluto and the Aries Moon conjunct Uranus, the Moon square Pluto and the Moon opposed the Sun. September could go out with a pop, a bang and a boom. We may end the month in greater apprehension as to what October might bring.

September… when the leaves come falling down…
