This week we may feel as though we have one foot moving out of summer and the other foot moving into autumn. Not that summer is over, but our sense of getting back on the track, focusing on what needs to be done, and preparing for the year ahead seems pressing and strong. Whether we have been conditioned by our early years or we have school age children or we are primed by the media advertising of back to school, we all have a sense that a new year begins with the start of the school year. For many school districts, school no longer starts after Labor Day but begins in the second half of August, which we are fast approaching.
This week brings closure to the first half of August, and we might be looking to get as much into this week as possible. We may have summer fun events planned juxtaposed by trips to the mall for our autumn wardrobe and supplies.
We could want to assert ourselves, all the while banging about trying to slalom through a course of delays, impediments and other people’s demands. No matter what obstacles we find in our way, we have a determination that nothing is stopping us now. We might be banged up a bit but we are looking to grab all the gusto we can this week.
The week begins with the energy ratcheted up. Initiations, beginnings, start-ups can be screaming at us and have us fast out of the starting blocks, running as fast as we can. Although a marathon, we could be doing a sprint to begin the week, trying to sidestep obstacles that get in our way and feeling relatively good that we have not been knocked out of the box but are continuing forward movement no matter how circuitous our route might seem.
The mid-part of the week could get a little crazy. The three-week Mercury retrograde cycle is ending and, as it does so and whenever it does so, there can be miscommunications, traffic delays and computer glitches. Fortunately, our self-focus at the beginning of the week slows down and we may take a more disciplined, albeit plodding, approach to doing what we need to do. If we have had some screw-ups over the past three weeks, we might be making our list, checking it twice, in regard to those areas that we need to go back over and rectify.
Although we could still be getting some mixed signals in the middle of the week, if we take things slowly, engage due diligence, we could also concentrate on the fundamentals, come up with a best practices approach and deal with any pressing needs in a streamlined and expeditious manner.
The weekend has us back on fast forward, trying to do everything and looking to take on even more. We pick up the pace and may go from one thing to another to another, but we are well aware that the time is now and we want to engage some fun get-togethers with friends and loved ones and fully enjoy ourselves. We may feel that this weekend is one of the last of this summer, and we are geared for living it to the max.
This week can have us all over the place. At times, we may feel that things, and other people’s concerns, are getting in our way. Other times, like a skilled fighter, we can bob and weave effectively, taking the necessary twists and turns, to get to where we want to go.
And the weekend — what’s not to like about a weekend that is a kaleidoscope of fun events, good times with friends and loved ones and provides various interesting ‘hits’ in nanoseconds of time.
Monday, August 6th – Clunking About Before Getting Our Pace – Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter, Sun. We may feel as if we have fallen out of bed to start the week. We might even want to jump back into bed and pull the covers over our head. The week starts with the Aries Moon, which creates a T-Square by the Moon square Pluto and the Moon opposed Uranus. We may be impetuous as we start the week, ready to go for the gold, but finding various issues and problems to deal with that either slow us down or provide those whacks on the side of the head demanding that we pay attention to other people’s issues and to our responsibilities. Whatever we have planned events for early on this Monday, we should be aware that unexpected situations could come up that force us to amend our schedule, change our plans and have us dealing with matters that are not of our making but stand in our way. Whether we trip over ourselves or someone tries to throw us down the stairwell, after some morning irritations and aggravations we can disentangle ourselves and then move easily ahead. After the T-Square plays itself out, the Moon then sextiles Jupiter and trines the Sun. It may feel as though the clouds have parted and the sun has come out and burning brightly. We feel more enthusiastic, more invigorated and some of that feeling may also be the sense that we dodged a bullet earlier in the day. After a convoluted start to the day, we can move easily forward, optimistic and confident and looking to put our mark with a smiley face on our engagements.
Tuesday, August 7th – Not What It’s Cut Out to Be – Mars, Saturn, Venus Cancer. Tuesday is the last day of this three-week Mercury retrograde cycle. Late today, early tomorrow, Mercury turns direct. While the change in direction to direct movement is a blessing, the shifting of gears could prove a little disconcerting with various problems arising. Travel, communication and computer matters can all be affected with some difficulties in any or all of those areas. This Tuesday also has the Aries Moon opposed both Mars and Saturn in Libra. We could feel as though we were in a tug-of-war with someone else. We may have our own projects to engage, and someone else could have demands they wish us to involve ourselves with. This push pull may have no real winners and compounded by the Mercury stationary we could feel as though we are mired in a ‘he said, she said’ scenario of misunderstandings, miscommunications and slights unintended. This Tuesday also has Venus leaving Gemini to enter Cancer. Our attention may become more focused on home and family. Perhaps we have been mesmerized by the print and television ads with their back to school ringing the bell and making us aware that autumn is fast approaching. We could decide to start putting together our autumn wardrobe, sprucing up our home and taking care of family needs. If we have been out and about juggling ever so many social interactions, we might pull back and enjoy the sanctity of our home space.
Wednesday, August 8th – Step by Step – Venus, Mercury, Neptune, Pluto, Mercury direct. The Moon in Taurus today sextiles Venus, squares Mercury, sextiles Neptune and trines Pluto. And late on Tuesday, early Wednesday, Mercury ends its retrograde cycle and turns direct. This Mercury retrograde has created for some, even many, various hiccups with disruptions to travel plans, miscommunications, misunderstandings and possibly having us even making some bone-headed decisions and actions. If we haven’t addressed any miscommunications or heated exchanges and unintended slights that might have occurred during this Mercury retrograde cycle, then the first few days of Mercury direct could provide us the energy to do so. This Wednesday allows us to take things step by step, be both diplomatic and focused in dealing with situations and making sure that in our steps, we don’t step in it. We might have done so, stepped in it, over the past three week period. We could have been a bit impetuous, slightly arrogant and taking an attitude from the playbook that a ‘strong offense is a good defense’. If we have been offensive to someone, this Wednesday allows us to start cleaning up our act. We can present things today in a mesmerizing manner with great grace and charm, yet always attentive to what the core issues and most important points might be. While we can virtually move mountains today, we need to tamper down our sense of self-importance and create win-win situations whereby everyone is on the same page and feels that their contributions are worthy of merit.
Thursday, August 9th – Some Enchanted Evening – Venus, Neptune, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Thursday has the Taurus Moon square the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over twenty-five hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini late tomorrow. Venus trines Neptune. We may feel as though our life is idyllic. We might decide to spend time around our home, creating a sanctuary and just enjoying the comforts of our living space. Everything and everyone can take on a rose-colored hue. We might even question whether what we see is clear reality or the glasses we are wearing that illuminates everything in such a perfect light. Although we could feel as though everything is right in our world, that we have encountered the princes and princesses of the world, and that everything is going our way, it would be wise for us to maintain some semblance of connection with reality. Let’s remember that during these volatile times, things can shift quickly and dramatically. And we may not have to wait too long for a shift in how we perceive our relationships. Next week could turn the prince into a toad or the princess into a shrew. But what’s not to like about a day that seems picture perfect? One thing that we might not like, after the fact, is any tendency towards spending too much today. We could have a liability to grandstanding and being excessive and extravagant in our purchases. If we can keep a rein on our finances today, this day can be close to marvelous. There is an ethereal quality to the day, something slightly magical, albeit not necessarily focused or clear. Why not engage our fantasies and our dreams and our grand illusions, if only for today? Yes, this day may be a day for Walter Mitty [that legendary character written about by James Thurber], a day when we engage all possibilities and make assumptions upon our wishes rather than the cold, hard facts.
Friday, August 10th – Mixing it Up – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Neptune. If we went into la-la-land yesterday, today we could continue the stroll through candy land with all sorts of sweets tantalizing us. At least for a while. The Taurus Moon is Void-of-Course and has been since yesterday. There is not a great deal of energy to get the day going. On the contrary, we may be plodding along or nursing the aftereffects of any indulgences we enjoyed, and possibly gorged ourselves on, yesterday. While this day is slow starting, late in the day and the evening hours could ratchet the energy up. We might then be running on adrenaline as the Moon moves into Gemini where it sextiles Mercury and squares Neptune. Not that the liability towards indulgence drops away. No, we might find ourselves engaged in some great fun adventures and unwilling to stop even if we know when to stop. The liability to excess this Friday evening cannot be discounted. We might want to make a grand entrance or a great splash. Either way, we are chatting up a storm, sharing some of our recent great exploits and embellishing the most modest incidents with grand tapestries. This new found energy also begins a whirlwind weekend where we might be going here, there and everywhere. No matter what duties are calling, it’s summertime and we’re still searching for fun.
Saturday, August 11th – Everything but the Kitchen Sink – Uranus, Jupiter. Saturday has the Moon in Gemini with the Moon sextile Uranus and the Moon conjunct Jupiter. We might want it all today and possibly a lot of it in small doses. We are unlikely to focus on any one thing today but a sampling of a little bit of everything. Adventure is foremost in our mind. No matter what our plans might be, we would rather be spontaneous, allow the day to unfold naturally, and the day to be a scavenger hunt with us going from one clue to the next, open to the exciting and unexpected and willing to shift and change from whatever catches our fancy. We could be soaring today, feeling exuberant, good about things, with a taste for discovery and exploration. We may feel that we are caught in a kaleidoscope of a myriad of different situations, events and people, and loving every minute of it. If this is as good as it gets, it would be hard to imagine anything better.
Sunday, August 12th – Up and At ‘Em – Sun, Mars, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course. When it’s hot, it’s hot. And when it’s not, it’s not. Today, it’s hot. This Sunday continues the marvelous carousel feeling of yesterday which may have begun late Friday. Today, the Gemini Moon sextiles the Sun and trines both Mars and Saturn. We may want to do something special with that significant person in our lives. We are feeling good about things, chatting up a storm, and enjoying our discussions with the people in our lives. We could even be looking to catch up with people we have not been in contact for a while. There is a great deal of talk today with much of it compliments and appreciations from what would seem like a Mutual Admiration Society. The phone may be ringing incessantly. People may have fanciful ideas today and a willing audience to promote them. Today is a day to enjoy the camaraderie of our friends and loved ones. But it would also be wise not to accept everything that is being said as gospel truth. There can be too many people trying to please one another.
