This week can be a fun-filled week with interesting twists and turns. We might assume that we are going one way, and through unexpected events we could find ourselves winding up somewhere else. Magic is in the air, and the more we can engage the world of possibilities, the more exciting the scenarios we are likely to encounter.
In the US, this is a holiday week, highlighted by the fireworks of July 4th, Independence Day. And fireworks there could well be, not only those that light up the sky, but fireworks in the headlines, as doors open up that we were led to believe had been closed.
This week has a great deal of activity, much of it unanticipated with some wonderful surprises along the way.
While our focus this week is largely on summer fun, we can deal with our responsibilities early in the week in order to engage delightful activities in the mid-part and latter part of the week.
This is a week for family get-togethers, picnics and barbecues with friends and loved ones. We are not looking to be overly focused on our daily routine. If we take care of the pressing needs early in the week, then we won’t be dogged by our obligations later in the week.
Although we might have a great deal to address, we are more likely to hang out the ‘gone fishing’ sign than to feel obliged to take care of immediate demands.
This week is punctuated by the Capricorn Full Moon on Tuesday, the same day that Mars enters Libra after an almost eight month transit of Virgo. We are losing more of the Earth Element influence, with the Earth Grand Trine operational from November until mid-June, when Jupiter exited Taurus. Now with Mars entering Libra, we are left with but one Earth-transiting planet, Pluto in Capricorn. And it is this transit of Pluto in Capricorn, which Pluto has been transiting since 2008, that has led us down the crash and burn scenario of the past several years. It certainly is not over and may ratchet up during the mid-part of the month.
That’s then and this is now, and this week can be a week of pure delight, with some wonderful surprises, thrilling experiences and so much so that we might even want to pinch ourselves in wonder, and question: ‘Is this as good as it gets?’
This is a week for us to be open to the serendipity of life, those synchronistic events that make us aware that we no longer have to do it all, that the universe actually works. We might even affirm the notion that ‘the universe has far better plans for us than we could ever imagine for ourselves.’
Monday, July 2nd – Out and About – Saturn, Mars, Neptune. Monday starts the week with the Moon in Sagittarius, which today sextiles Saturn and squares Mars. We might either be traveling, getting out of Dodge, or making our plans to do so. We might be in such an upbeat mood that we forget to take care of certain details. No worries, for we can always get what we have forgotten along the way. We might seek to contact friends far and wide, make them aware of our plans and see if we can hook up with them in our journeys. Even if we are staying put, we could find ourselves running in place, wanting to expand our realm, get on with things but with a liability of glossing over particulars and neglecting certain specifics. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Sagittarius and enters Capricorn where it sextiles Neptune. We can contemplate how we can best address our responsibilities, figure out the ideal situation for ourselves and consider an overall plan of action. We may have a visionary sense that allows us to have our head in the clouds but with our feet firmly planted on the ground.
Tuesday, July 3rd – In the Light of the Moon – Pluto, Capricorn Full Moon, Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Sun, Mars Libra. Tuesday gives us the Capricorn Full Moon with the Capricorn Moon conjunct Pluto and creating a Lunar T-Square as the Capricorn Moon squares Uranus and opposes the Sun. This day also has Mars ending its transit of Virgo and entering Libra, where Mars is in Detriment, uncomfortable in the Venus-ruled Sign. Although we may be off having our summer fun today, in the back of our mind we might also be considering how best to pare down our life’s activities, focus on the truly essential and be ever more resourceful. Things are changing dramatically, in the world-at-large and possibly in our own personal worlds. The changes can be subtle or they can be drastic, but the changes they are happening. If we could step off the track and take a fresh perspective, we could also more clearly evaluate what really works for us and what might be either outmoded or a waste of our time. This is a day when we can contemplate and strategize, all with the full understanding that no matter what plans we might make for ourselves, we are also in the time period when unexpected situations can arise that force us to be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing situations. This is a day for us to seek balance and consider how best we can balance our personal lives with our daily responsibilities. We may have a great deal on our plate under ‘normal’ circumstances and fast-paced living is becoming the new ‘normal’. Juggling?, everyone. But, even with contemplations and reflections, our focus today is primarily on summer fun.
Wednesday, July 4th – Attitude of Gratitude – Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Venus, Uranus, Mars. The day begins with the Moon still in Capricorn and square Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twelve hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Capricorn and before entering Aquarius late in the day where it trines Mars. Although there may not be a great deal of energy to this day, in the US this Wednesday is the 4th of July, the high holiday of the Summer, as we celebrate Independence Day with barbecues, picnics, gatherings with friends and family and the evening display of fireworks, whether watched live or on television. Although there is not a great deal of energy to move things ahead according to our plans, this day can be quite magical and socially engaging. Mercury sextiles Venus, Mercury trines Uranus and Venus sextiles Uranus. We can have some interesting and serendipitous contacts today — bumping into people or receiving calls from unexpected quarters. If we are open to receive, we could garner some wonderful surprises today. While we often dismiss the importance of the attitude of gratitude, if we would embrace appreciation for all that we have, we might discover ever more is given to us. This is a day for us to have our antennae up, have our eyes and ears wide open, and to be willing to act spontaneously and on the spur of the moment. Some exciting developments could arise when we least expect them.
Thursday, July 5th – Nothing Too Much – Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Mercury. Thursday continues the excitement of the past few days. The Aquarius Moon today trines both Jupiter and Venus, the Moon sextiles Uranus, and the Moon opposes Mercury. We may not merely want a taste of something today. We might want to gorge ourselves on the whole enchilada. This is a day when we want to do more and have more. Nothing is too much for us today. This is summer, the season of relaxation, recreation and fun activities, a time to live life to the fullest. And to the fullest we are likely to live it today, and then some. Indulgences and excesses are likely. We may have grandiose plans, great ideas and marvelous intentions. We are feeling good about ourselves, enthusiastic about our prospects and unafraid to blow our horn to the best of our lung capacity. We might have more on our plate than anyone could reasonably engage, but we are likely to go for it and go for it all today. It might be wise for us to temper our enthusiasm especially if we are deciding on long-term commitments, important decisions or significant purchases. We may be optimistic and confident but we might be looking at situations through rose-colored glasses. Let’s try to avoid an overreach or if we go there, be certain that we can backtrack later on if need be.
Friday, July 6th – Me and My Best Friend – Saturn. After a fairly active few days, things seem to slow down on Friday. The Aquarius Moon trines Saturn and then the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twelve and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces. Friday may be a day to catch up with a good friend or that special someone in our lives. We may want to spend time just enjoying the company of someone else without a great deal of pressure or the need to prove, or promote, ourselves. We could draw upon someone as a good sounding board, especially if we have gone off the deep end in regard to plans or commitments we might have made over the past few days. This Friday is a day when not a great deal is going on. We can relax, recharge and recreate, all with the recognition that in the analogy to tidal action, the tides may have been high the past few days but are now ebbing. Let’s enjoy the day, not feel pressured to do anything except to catch our breath and enjoy the heart-felt discussions with someone else.
Saturday, July 7th – Ground Control to Major Tom – Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto, Venus. In 1969, musician David Bowie wrote the song ‘Space Oddity’, in which he created a fictional astronaut, Major Tom, who after a successful launch into space cuts off contact with ground control to journey beyond the stars. We may all be feeling like Major Tom on this Saturday, for today the Pisces Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon sextiles Pluto and the Moon squares both Jupiter and Venus. We could be in a world of our own on this Saturday. Our sensitivity is increased exponentially and we might feel ourselves bombarded by just so much stimuli. Today would be a good day for us to get out into nature, to walk down by the seashore, by a lake or hike into the woods. A certain amount of alone time could nurture us. Otherwise, we might get swept up into the frenzy of summertime activities, losing ourselves in the dissonance of crowds and picking up all the vibrations operating around us. We may feel a little spaced out today, so it would be wise to seek some quiet time. Failing that, we could fall into heavy indulgence and excess. Why go there?, Major Tom.
Sunday, July 8th – A Day to Rest – Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Most of the activity of this week centers around Tuesday through Thursday. The latter part of the week and the weekend seem especially quiet in comparison. Sunday begins with the Pisces Moon trine the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for the next twenty-five hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries tomorrow. This Sunday is a day for us to rest, relax and enjoy the ‘those lazy hazy crazy days of summer’ as Nat King Cole immortalized them in his 1963 pop music classic. Maybe some sweet tea, biscuits and barbecue could be all that we manage today, but to borrow from another musical classic, this one from the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess, credited to George and Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward: ‘Summertime, and the livin’ is easy’. Who among us could not use some easy living this summertime? Saturday and Sunday, and especially Sunday, would be a day to grab some easy living.
