This week can be explosive, and the explosions may not be celebratory fireworks. This week could be rough and tumble, and can be the most extreme week of the Summer with a most intense energy right around the time of the Cancer New Moon mid-week.
The week starts off slowly, even lethargically, and we might find ourselves having difficulty getting the week going. Although a slow start, the week then ratchets up significantly, with great intensity and even the liability to sabre-rattling or worse. Bomb blasts, explosions, war-like maneuvers, accidents and people acting-up violently cannot be discounted this week.
We may need to take some deep breaths. It would be wise for us not engage in any arguments or heated discussions but rather to step away from confrontations, get off the track and seek solace in the sanctuary of nature or of our own homes.
This week is the first full week of the Mercury retrograde, the first full week of Uranus retrograde and the last week of the Sun’s transit of Cancer with the Sun exiting Cancer to enter Leo on Sunday.
Although I tried to mitigate some of the effects of the retrograde returns by starting my travel home early on this past Friday prior to the retrograde motions, I was not spared the difficulty in travel often associated with the Mercury retrograde and the Uranus influence on air travel. We left Budapest, Hungary, early in the day, and all seemed to unfold smoothly… until we landed in London for our connecting flight back to Miami. While the Summer Olympics have yet to begin, the summer travel games through London are well under way. Despite security screening in Budapest, we had to go through another security screening in London, all with the pretense of the increased security for the London games.
Fortunately, we had enough time in layover to accommodate the added security measures and time involved in such.
Once we arrived in Miami, however, the dysfunctionality and time factor increased dramatically. Passport control being overwhelmed by the number of international flights and charters arriving at the same time [wasn’t anyone informed by ground control?] forced the opening of yet another passport control location, which too was soon overwhelmed by the massive numbers of incoming and transiting passengers. After close to two hours waiting in line, being checked through, and then checked once again prior to baggage claim and customs [with nothing to declare], we made it out of Miami International and eventually arrived home shortly before 11:00 PM, some twenty-three hours from the start of our travel back home from Budapest.
Please keep in mind that we are under Murphy’s Law with the Mercury retrograde, whereby ‘whatever can go wrong could’.
As I indicated above, this week can be a most intense week, so it will be important for us not to react precipitously to anything occurring around us or to us. Let’s keep in mind the importance during these times of flexibility and adaptability with the recognition that things can change suddenly and dramatically with little, if any, notice.
Monday, July 16th – Slow on the Uptick – Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday begins the week with the Gemini Moon trine Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over thirteen and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Gemini and before entering Cancer. We may start the day with plans in mind and our strategies well conceived. Although we might easily see how we can get from A to Z today, the actual implementation of our plans could prove a great deal more difficult. There just may not be the energy to get a great deal done. Instead, we might sense that we are spinning our wheels or to borrow an iconic Hollywood entertainment industry phrase: ‘hurry up and wait’. Let’s keep in mind that we are also trying to get a grip on the Mercury retrograde, which began this past Saturday – Sunday. While we might have a great deal scheduled for this day, let’s avoid jumping ahead but rather take things step by step. With our desire to get things moving, we could proceed by trying to do too much without addressing the necessary details involved. As the British would say: ‘Keep calm and carry on’. This Monday is a day to line up our ducks in a row with the recognition that the next two days could have us on our toes and with our head spinning from the thrust of activity.
Tuesday, July 17th – In the Thick of It – Neptune, Mars, Jupiter, Lunar Grand Cross, Pluto, Uranus, Mars T-Square. I have cautioned about this Tuesday and Wednesday more than once before. These two days could prove the most intense of this summer season. There is a great deal of activity going on but much of it could be impetuous actions and knee jerk reactions. This Tuesday has the Moon in Cancer trine Neptune and the Moon also creating a Cardinal Sign Grand Cross as the Moon squares Mars in Libra, opposes Pluto in Capricorn and squares Uranus in Aries. Concurrently, Mars trines Jupiter today and Mars triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with Mars square Pluto today and Mars opposed Uranus tomorrow. A great deal can go on today but much of it not well thought out as much as a desire for action and aggressive behavior. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week could prove to be two nasty days and it would be wise for us to move ahead as though we were walking on eggshells — to advance slowly, diligently and with our senses fully aware and our intentions totally mindful. We may need to do the tai chi moves today, observant of what is going on around us without getting caught up in the likely frenetic, even frantic, energy. A sense of overreach could be strong, and bellicose, even belligerent, statements may be made. This is not a day to push the envelope, for the pushback could prove severe. People are liable to act out, be hasty in their decisions and make mistakes and missteps based on a desire to do something, anything, but with too great a force behind their actions.
Wednesday, July 18th – Accidents and Missteps – Saturn, Mars T-Square, Mars, Uranus. Wednesday has the Cancer Moon square Saturn and the Mars T-Square completed with Mars opposed Uranus. Any sense of delay, or a feeling of disrespect, could trigger greater impetus to get things done or to force issues today. Wanting to accomplish much, we could have the tendency to push too hard without taking the necessary steps to do so in a rational, realistic manner. On the contrary, this is a day when we could be highly impetuous, wanting what we want without duly taking into account either the conditions or the circumstances around us. People are highly accident-prone today and largely due to the fact that they have engaged brawn without engaging brain. Tuesday and Wednesday are two intense days, days when people may draw lines in the sand or throw down the gauntlet. Unfortunately, in doing so, rash actions can prove catastrophic. These days are times when we need to realize the importance of working with the energies rather than having the energies working us over. It would be wise to slow down and not move so fast on these two days. Let’s keep in mind that we have Mercury retrograde and also are on the dark side of the Moon, prior to tomorrow’s New Moon.
Thursday, July 19th – It’s Only Just Begun – Cancer Lunation, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Uranus, Mars. Thursday has the Cancer New Moon as the Moon conjuncts the Sun. This New Moon provides a signature of the next fortnight, up to the Full Moon on the 1st of August. This New Moon also is influenced by the Mars T-Square that we might have suffered through over the past two days and continues its impact over the next two weeks. And we have Mercury retrograde too. The Moon goes Void-of-Course for nearly six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Cancer and before entering Leo, where today the Moon sextiles Jupiter, trines Uranus and sextiles Mars. Although we may be in high gear, much of our attention may shift from an unrelieved anxiety to a focus on summertime fun activities. No matter what is going on in the world at large or our world closer to home, we could choose to block out the dissonance of these times and concentrate instead on having fun, embracing good times and enjoying typical summertime recreational activities. As though we have dodged a bullet, we might feel fully entitled to step off the track, just enjoy ourselves and leave behind our worries and the worries of the world.
Friday, the 20th – Never Enough Fun – Mercury, Venus. Whether we have stepped off the track and are engaging time off from our regular routine or not, this Friday is a day when we just want to spend time with those special people in our lives and engage lighthearted activities with great enjoyment. Friday has the Leo Moon conjunct Mercury and sextile Venus. We can present ourselves in a dramatic and appealing manner today. We are focused on our creative talents and can easily persuade other people to our side and to advocate for our interests. We may feel at the top of our game and things can move easily forward. We do have to be careful not to get overly smug about our good fortune. If we have created a furor over the past two days, this is a day when we can smooth things over and make amends. This Friday begins a nice weekend, a time when we might feel it necessary to regroup, relax and re-create. The mid-part of this week could have had us on the run, but we are far more interested now in good times with good friends. There may be never enough fun, but today we are looking to get as much fun in that we can.
Saturday, July 21st – Betwixt and Between – Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune. Saturday begins with the Moon in Leo sextile Saturn. We may make some great plans with good friends for social activities and recreational events. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over twelve hours making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before entering Virgo where today the Moon opposes Neptune. We are feeling that it is summer and time for us to enjoy ourselves. But we might also have a nagging feeling of those tasks and duties that we have postponed in pursuit of fun. We might feel pulled to take care of our normal responsibilities but could also feel resentment that we need to do so. If we have things that need doing, let’s do so without griping or whining. Once we take care of pressing matters, they will not be hanging over our head and we would be better able to fully enjoy ourselves.
Sunday, July 22nd – Hot Times in the Summertime – Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Sun Leo. Sunday has Jupiter sextile Uranus. We could be fascinated with new and exciting activities that are unfamiliar to us. This is a day for adventure but doing so in a well-considered manner. The Virgo Moon today trines Pluto, but the Moon also squares Jupiter and Venus. Mercury sextiles Mars and the Sun exits Cancer to move into its own Sign of Leo. We may have a great deal on our plate with most of it focused on having a good time and enjoying hot times in the summertime. We are all feeling quite regal thanks to the Sun coming into its own Sign, and with Mercury in Leo sextiling Mars. We are feeling energized, looking to expand our reach, put our mark on various social engagements. The only cautionary advice would be to recognize that we might take on more than we can effectively handle. In other words, our eyes may be bigger than our stomach, so let’s allow ourselves to pick and choose our activities without feeling overly committed to any one thing.
