June 18th – 24th, 2012

We may be looking for fun, exciting new directions and enlivening experiences during this week. This is a highly active week, punctuated by the Gemini New Moon on Tuesday and the end of Spring, beginning of Summer, at the time of the Summer Solstice on the 20th – 21st. We want to make the most of summertime activities and pleasurable events, and we may do so no matter the cost or the expense. Even if we have to grit our teeth to have fun, we are determined to have our enjoyment.

The week begins with something of a scatter shot approach. We are more interested in our possibilities rather than being a dead-on straight shooter with a singular focus. Maybe it’s the excitement of the chase, the diversion from our daily mundane affairs, but we are certainly more interested in a wide range of prospects rather than clearly-defined possibilities. We may feel as though ‘the world is our oyster’ without taking into account the backdrop of conditions or the present world of circumstances.

We may be looking towards future projects and considering our options but perhaps without seriously thinking about the specifics and the particulars. We can easily buy into wish fulfillment and a belief that what we can visualize with great intent has to come into manifestation. Nice concept, with an element of truth to it, but it would also allow for sitting back, making assumptions and just hoping for the change.

Spring comes to a close with the hypesters and spinmeisters out in full force. Should we be surprised? Problems needing solutions may have been postponed for a later day. Issues demanding resolution might have been mulled over, contemplated, still under consideration. While such inability to deal with reality may be the choice of the powers-that-be, let us in our personal lives not make that mistake but rather use the energies to deal with the hard questions, bring completion to outstanding matters and plant the seeds of our future endeavors in fertile ground.

Summer starts with the Summer Solstice on Wednesday – Thursday, as the Sun exits Gemini and enters Cancer. This movement brings closure to the Gemini Stellium of three or more planets in the Mutable Air Sign as the Sun leaves Venus and Jupiter [the two ‘good guys’ of the zodiac] in Gemini to juggle many activities and more social gatherings.

If we don’t get what we want the way that we want it, we might be looking in new directions and for more exciting alternatives. The Sirens may be enticing us to step away from the tried and true to explore possibilities and delve into the unknown.

The latter part of the week, we could go full speed ahead in the directions of our fantasies, of the grand illusions that could prove only delusions. Our dance fancy free and into fantasyland could be delightful, even if delirious. While we might prefer concentrating on our own world, even a world of imagination, it would be wise for us to keep in mind the two keywords of these times: awareness and mindfulness.

No matter how much we might want to visualize our perfect world, we may find that we are occasionally banging up against reality.

The weekend could have us concentrating on good times with good friends, but unexpected situations might arise that could prove earthshaking. Whether there is earthquake or volcanic activity in the physical world, we might experience the earth move in our personal worlds. A dramatic turn of events could leave us reeling, especially if we bought into a sense that everything has straightened out, all problems resolved and that we are back on the straight and narrow. Not happening!

A highly active week, we need to keep our wits about us as we delve into new and exciting scenarios that could prove to be either a house of cards or the real deal.

Monday, June 18th – Dark Side of the Moon – Mars, Saturn. Monday begins the week with the dark side of the Moon, just prior to tomorrow’s New Moon in Gemini and before the Summer Solstice on Wednesday-Thursday. The Gemini Moon today squares Mars and trines Saturn. We may feel in the dark about certain situations and might not be privy to circumstances that could determine the next step in our journey. Instead of progressing ahead with blind faith, this is a day when we might look to draw upon the objective perspective and insight of someone we trust. Their detached viewpoint could keep us from running in circles or acting like a dog chasing its tail. With the initiatory energies of the Gemini New Moon and the Summer Solstice just ahead of us, this day might better serve us as a finishing day, bringing things to completion and as a day of endings not beginnings.

Tuesday, June 19th – Head in the Clouds – Gemini Lunation, Sun, Neptune. This Tuesday has the Gemini New Moon and is the day just before the Summer Solstice. With four planets in Gemini at the time of the lunation, we may find that we come up with all sorts of options, alternatives and grand possibilities for our future. We might even assume a Mittyesque quality [as in the James Thurber character Walter Mitty] and launch into various daydreams of the fantasies we could easily engage, and easily engage in the vivid abstracts rather than in the day-in, day-out of our practical reality. Yes, our mind may be filled with wondrous prospects, all of which are beyond the ken of our daily existence and our normal reality. The world may seem not only our oyster but our universe — magical, mysterious and benevolent. Such an attitude could easily make us a mark for the hucksters, hypesters and spinmeisters, whereby we might accept specious promises as solid intentions. We may have our head in the clouds today but our feet nowhere near touching the ground. Let’s allow ourselves some of those wondrous mental meanderings of ‘what could be’ without overly committing or expending ourselves in the pursuit of idyllic possibilities. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Gemini to enter Cancer where it trines Neptune. Our imagination continues to be highly active but we might choose to allow our thoughts to run rampant through the fields of possibilities in the sanctuary of our home and in the comfort of our family. Ah, yes, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty can be played out again and again.

Wednesday, June 20th – Here Comes Summer – Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Pluto, Mercury, Saturn, Venus, Summer Solstice, Sun Cancer. Wednesday has the Cancer Moon creating the Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Uranus and the Moon opposes Pluto. Mercury squares Saturn, Venus sextiles Uranus and the Sun exits Gemini, ending the Gemini Stellium of three planets in the Mutable Air Sign, to enter Cancer at the time of the Summer Solstice. While this day represents the longest day of daylight in the northern hemisphere for the year, we seem to be going banging and crashing into the Summer season. There can be a great deal of intensity on this day and as an imprint for the Summer we are heading into. Everyone may be somewhat on edge, misinterpreting situations and reading the riot act to other people due to personal slights or misunderstandings. We may be looking to engage the attitude of ‘out with the old, in with the new’. Whatever we have been doing, we may feel constricted and restrained by our involvements. If we do not maintain an awareness and mindfulness, we could easily fall prey to situations that are different from our recent activities but could prove to be greater entanglements than the entanglements that we are trying to loosen ourselves from. People are likely to be very intense, cutting slack for no one, and drawing lines in the sand. The temperature outside might be hot but that might not even match how hot under the collar some people are liable to be. Let’s avoid discussions that could become heated, utilize our tai chi moves to step away from confrontations and recognize that most people are incredibly anxious and consequently irritable.

Thursday, June 21st – Betwixt and Between – Mercury, Mars, Saturn. This day can be an active day, but a day of starts and stops. This Thursday has Mercury sextile Mars. The Cancer Moon squares Saturn, the Moon sextiles Mars and the Moon conjuncts Mercury, before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for eleven hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Cancer and before entering Leo late in the day. We may have clear intentions about where we want to go today and how we want to get there, but someone’s own notions can create some braking action to our movement. We might have everything scheduled for optimum performance but some outstanding matter can get in the way of our fast-paced trajectory. If we don’t get upset or feel victimized, then we can think on our feet, do the necessary slalom moves to deal with whatever hazards stand in our way, and accomplish a great deal, and all in the early part of the day. As the day progresses, things can slow down or just take longer than we had anticipated. This is a day when we might want to engage the sentiment of ‘carpe diem’, seize the day with fortitude and alacrity and do as much as we possibly can earlier rather than later. The latter part of the day can allow us to reflect on where we have been, where we are going, and strategize a best practices approach to advance our interests by the most expeditious means. We might be looking forward to some fun events this weekend and creating a long weekend for ourselves.

Friday, June 22nd – Everything’s Coming Up Roses – Jupiter, Venus, Uranus. This Friday is the 22nd of the month, and the number 22 in numerology is a master number, indicative of the master builder. And today is a day when we could virtually charm the birds out of the trees. We are feeling upbeat, optimistic and confident and we have the gift of gab. Our ability at gentle persuasion can be seductive and enticing. We can express ourselves in a dynamic manner, make our case and win people to our side in order to help us get what we want. Not only are we feeling vibrant and fully alive. We are willing to take machete in hand and carve our own path. No fitting in for us today. We want to stand out, express ourselves and win the kudos of others for both our personality and our talents. If we wish to present an idea or a project, we can do so with exuberance, by thinking outside the box, and by offering unique concepts with great panache.

Saturday, June 23rd – The Comforts of Home – Saturn, Sun, Neptune. Saturday has the Leo Moon sextile Saturn and the Sun trine Neptune. This is a day when we might choose to have those special moments with the significant people in our lives — our loved ones, family and friends. Social gatherings can be especially pleasant, as we may be feeling nurtured and comforted by the important people in our lives. We might choose to stay around our home or pay attention to family matters. Our sensitivity is ratcheted up severalfold today. We can be quite spiritual and seek reflections in the natural cathedral down by the seashore or walks by a lake. There can be an otherworldy quality today and we might realize that we are far more than our personality, and that we have a soul and spirit that can never die. Meditation, contemplation and reflection are well suited to this day as we feed the more internal aspects of our being. This Saturday would be a good time for us to regroup and recharge. We are living during some very intense and volatile times, and it would be wise for us to take the interludes of rest, relaxation, comfort and nurture. Today could be one of those interludes.

Sunday, June 24th – Wild and Wooly – Uranus, Pluto, Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Neptune, Venus, Sun. While we often assume that Sunday is a day of rest, that sentiment is liable to be far from this Sunday. On the contrary, this Sunday could prove a little wrenching. Unexpected situations could shake us to the core. Uranus squares Pluto and the Moon in Virgo creates a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon square both Jupiter and Venus in Gemini and the Moon opposed Neptune in Pisces. The Moon also sextiles the Sun and the Moon trines Pluto. We could be thrown a curveball, or curveballs, today. While it would be essential for us to consider whether certain situations are beyond our control and thus for us to minimize our reaction to events occurring in the larger world, we do need to realize that we are not an island unto ourselves but rather impacted by the things going on around us. Hopefully, we took some time yesterday to center ourselves, for this Sunday could have an unraveling of sentiments and feelings, with some people falling prey to the incidents occurring in the world at large, and even far beyond their control or their influence. If we can get a grip, surf the tsunami-like waves without wiping out, then we can use the intensity of this day to cut to the core, focus on what we truly need to do, and move things along a streamlined trajectory. Such adeptness might be a tall order, but let’s keep in mind that we never get more than we can handle.
