September 26th – October 2nd, 2011

This week is the first full week of Autumn, closes out September and begins the month of October. The early part of this week can be explosive. People’s tempers can be short and the liability towards arguments and extreme actions is strong. Now would be a time to count to ten, be certain to temper our actions and not allow ourselves to get caustic or sarcastic in our conversations. Our tongue can be sharp and our intensity severe. We may be itching to break free from situations and people. There can be various endings, some sudden with no looking back or any thought of possible reconciliation. Instead of unleashing full force, if we could contain the energy and clearly direct the energy, then this can be a time of dramatic transitions — endings, yes, but also clearing the decks for new beginnings.

It is hard for us to be born anew amidst familiar surroundings. We could be champing at the bit, desirous of change but unaware of what changes we need to make. Other people could question our actions, our decisions and our ideas. Everyone may be a little on edge, both by reason of the changes in interpersonal relationships but also with a lack of trust regarding traditional institutions and once secure organizations.

The Libra New Moon on Tuesday has five planets in Libra — the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn. The New Moon configuration sextiles Mars, squares Pluto and is in orb of an opposition to Uranus. The question of the ‘other’ to ourselves is raised, with a recognition that the ‘other’ — whether people, our community involvements, our self-identity — with which we have been fully comfortable could now prove more of an irritant, somewhat akin to the grain of sand in the oyster which eventually becomes the pearl. So it may be for us, as individuals and as a society. We may not like the aggravations of this alchemical process but the process itself promises the potential of a pearl.

The world could be spinning this week and we might feel ourselves spinning with it.

Things can settle down toward the latter part of the week and over the weekend and could prove a welcome respite from the intensity earlier in the week.

If we would keep in mind the importance of testing the waters of the new, all the while that we are tidying up the messes of our past, then we might find that our transformations can be far less excruciatingly painful. If we hold on to the ways things have been, a false belief in stability and security, then we could find our world rocked.

This week can bring about eliminations, releases and endings.

This week is energetically intense and may blare headlines that speak of catastrophic natural disasters, major storm systems, and incidents of people acting out. Not everyone may be able to cope with the energy being ratcheted up to such an extreme. But it is through this dynamic, this extreme intensity, that the alchemical process can occur and that we can burn off the dross of our past and shapeshift into the new format of our being.

Besides, the volatility of these times does promise moments of respite, time to catch our breath, regroup, reconfigure and take into account all the goings-on impacting us.

Monday, September 26th – The Dark of the Moon – Moon Void-of-Course. The Moon is Void-of-Course on this Monday making no connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Virgo and before entering Libra early on Tuesday, late on Monday. This Monday also has the dark of the Moon just before the New Moon on Tuesday. There is not a great deal of energy to begin the week, and that may be a good thing, especially in light of the extremes of energy over the next three days. Perhaps we can take this Monday as a bit of a breather, taking time for ourselves and also taking care of business. We might be more interested in taking care of our routine responsibilities rather than starting anything new or making important decisions or giving definitive commitments. It would be a good day for us to go back over things, attend to details and be certain that we have covered the specifics. The New Moon is tomorrow and a better time for us to initiate and develop. Today we might want to take a ‘mental health’ day, critique our actions and fine tune our projects. This could be, might even be a ‘should be’ day, when we take care of ourselves all in preparation for the next few days ahead.

Tuesday, September 27th – Climax or Dramatic Change – Mercury, Uranus, Lunar T-Square, Libra Lunation, Sun, Pluto, Mars. This Tuesday could be one intense day, begins a three-day period when the energies could be off the charts, and imprints the next fortnight with quirky, unexpected tendencies. There may be a great deal of crash and burn on this Tuesday and over the next two weeks. We have the Libra New Moon with five planets in Libra. This New Moon configuration sextiles Mars but also creates a Cardinal Sign T-Square [Cardinal Climax] with the Libra New Moon opposed Uranus and square Pluto. Add to this Mercury opposed Uranus and we have a combination perfect to engage Murphy’s Law whereby ‘whatever can go wrong could’. The Mercury adversely aspected to Uranus is one of my least favorite travel aspects, and especially air travel, and we may find that during the next two weeks there could be travel difficulties, traffic problems and the like. Travel issues, words said without much thought, miscommunications, computer problems are all areas that could be problematic on this Tuesday and over the next two weeks. If we can get a handle on the energies, don’t feel as though we have to react immediately to any situation, then we could find this energy to be incredibly insightful. The key to the positive use of this energy is to let go of our opinions, be open to possibilities even if seemingly impossible, and recognize that we might just be conduits of inspirations and moments of genius. But our nerves can be on edge and we might be waiting for a shoe, or another shoe or even more shoes, to drop. Today is a good day to slow down and be willing to engage unexpected situations.

Wednesday, September 28th – Bombs Bursting & Other Explosions – Sun, Mercury, Pluto, Venus, Saturn, Neptune. If we felt yesterday was intense, this Wednesday could provide quite a crescendo. With Pluto triggered off by squares from both the Sun and Mercury, which conjunct each other today, nothing is likely done in half measure. This could be an explosive day, with searing words and forceful actions. We may feel boxed in by our responsibilities or by other people’s expectations but it would be wise for us to count to ten, or even twenty, before responding to situations or any attempt by other people to throw down the gauntlet. Today is a day when it is best to keep in mind that we may be walking on eggshells. Diplomacy, serenity and mindfulness are essential qualities in getting through this day unscathed. If we can handle the energy, an energy that truly may be too hot to handle, then this day would be a good day for well-considered eliminations, clearings out and ridding ourselves of the extraneous. But it would be important to remember that things can ramp up in a very short period of time so we need to rein in our emotions and watch our tongue. The Libra Moon conjuncts Venus and Saturn and sextiles Neptune today. We may be more diplomatic than usual, possibly quite charming but with the recognition that we are walking through a minefield when some type of explosive action or bombastic words could throw us into the air.

Thursday, September 29th – A Little Indulgence or Too Much More – Mercury, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Pluto, Lunar T-Square, Jupiter. The last two days could have been doozeys for us. We may feel a little shell-shocked and in need of… a little pampering, indulgence, r and r, and ways of being good to ourselves. And good to ourselves today we might be, and to the max. Mercury sextiles Mars, Venus conjuncts Saturn and the Moon in Scorpio sextiles Pluto and creates a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Mars and opposes Jupiter. We could easily be looking for fun and entertainment today and feeling richly deserving of it. People from our past could crop up, whether in person, online, by phone or in our thoughts. While we can be incredibly resourceful and engage a best practices approach, we may want to add a little sugar and whipped cream to our day. The liability to swings between abstinence and indulgence could be mind-blowing, even amusing. We may be incredibly stringent in some activities or expenses, and then suddenly do some kind of blow-out in indulgence and expenditure. Although balance between the two would be suggested, this is a day to cut ourselves a little slack especially after the past two days we’ve been through.

Friday, September 30th – Fun Slightly Misguided – Sun, Mars, Neptune. As children, many of us had those blow-up clowns with sand in the bottom that we could punch. They’d fall back only to spring back up. This Friday could have us feeling like that spring in our step. While earlier in the week could have had us up and running, dodging the ‘slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’, yesterday and today could have us engaging in some good time fun. Today, the Sun sextiles Mars and the Scorpio Moon squares Neptune. We may feel energized, up and running, ready to take the world by storm, put our imprint on some enjoyable pursuits and present a dramatic and persuasive view of ourselves. Where a problem might arise is the direction in which we choose to go. We could easily get entranced by situations or possibilities that seem great and exactly what we want to engage, but we could be deceiving ourselves looking at prospects without considering all that they entail and not taking into account the variables of these times, which involves the law of unintended consequences. It would be wise for us to check, evaluate and reconsider as we go along. Otherwise, we could be gung-ho, flip into fast forward, only to find ourselves marching down the yellow brick road of fancy-filled illusions. Why go there?

Saturday, October 1st – Spreading our Wings and Soaring with the Eagles – Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Mars, Sun, Mercury. Saturday seems like the primo day of the week. The Moon in Sagittarius creates a Fire Grand Trine with the Moon trine Uranus in Aries and the Moon trine Mars in Leo. Added to that, the Moon sextiles both the Sun and Mercury. This is a day marked for exploration, fun times and enjoying ourselves with those special people in our lives. If we have errands on our Saturday ‘to do’ list, we may put those on hold as we embrace the serendipity of this day, do things on the spontaneous level and just generally enjoy ourselves. As Kermit of the Muppets in The Muppet Movie would remind us: “Movin’ right along in search of good times and good news, With good friends you can’t lose,…” Today is a day for us to muppet along.

Sunday, October 2nd – Reach Out – Saturn, Venus. Sunday continues the good spirits of the weekend. The Sagittarius Moon today sextiles both Saturn and Venus. This Sunday is a great day to get together with friends, take a drive in the country and broaden our perspective. We are likely to feel upbeat and wanting to share our good feelings with other people. The sense of good cheer and having good times can be contagious this weekend. The world may seem to be falling apart, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a good time and enjoy ourselves. We might be taking a far more philosophical viewpoint of it all, recognizing that bad times never last and that things can in deed get better all the time. This weekend is a celebratory weekend. We could be joyful that we not only survived the mid-part of the week, but that in the process we got rid of some extraneous matters and were able to get to the basics and fundamentals of things. Once we streamline our operations we could discover that these times are like greased wheels with things happening faster and faster and with us being more effective and more productive. We just have to focus on the important and not get distracted by the irrelevant. There is no longer any time to waste on the superficial and the shallow. We’re looking for the best things in life and with the recognition that once we get the rhythm of our own journey many of the brambles and pitfalls can suddenly disappear. Funny thing about life and the universe: they work.
