April 4th – 10th, 2011

This week gives us the energy to concentrate on the steps necessary to achieve some of our plans. We can be resourceful, consider a best practices approach and take things step by step. Such a disposition is true for the first half of the week, and despite the fact that we are dealing with the backdrop of this past Sunday’s Aries New Moon with its two-week signature of zaniness, unexpected situations and caroms between hasty actions and delayed responses.

We might be looking at our Springtime purchases, whether for a personal makeover or fix-ups and renovations around our home. We are feeling fairly upbeat with an insistence of making necessary changes to the ways we do things and streamlining our operations so that we are not hindered by our usual tasks and obligations. We want some ‘free’ time in which to explore and experiment with new activities and develop new interests.

Although the first half of the week can have us taking things in a methodical, step-by-step manner, the end of the week and over the weekend might have us back in turbo-drive, going from one thing to another but without much depth or patience.

While we might be feeling fairly confident about our prospects and our abilities, it is essential that we keep aware of what is going on in the periphery of our lives. Curve balls could come out of nowhere, knocking us off center if we don’t maintain our awareness and a continual vigilance.

Humility is called for this week and an acceptance that the game of life has changed. Things no longer operate in a sequential manner but rather occur in an asequential reality, whereby the unexpected needs to be expected and the unanticipated needs to be taken into account.

Monday, April 4th – Watching the River Rise – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune, Neptune Pisces. Under the influence of this past Sunday’s Aries New Moon, this Monday is a day when we need to be fully aware that no matter how much due diligence we might exercise in considering our schedule, our tasks at hand and our intended plans; life can throw us some curve balls with unexpected situations coming out of the blue. This Monday begins with the Aries Moon conjunct Mercury. But Mercury is retrograde and although we might have an expansive plan in mind for this day, we may not have taken into account all of the variables nor could we take into account some unexpected incidents that are likely to crop up. It is essential that we not rush to judgment on this Monday morning. We may begin the day under a head of steam, but the Moon goes Void-of-Course for thirteen and a half hours, making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus where it sextiles Neptune, which earlier today ended its transit of Aquarius to enter its own Sign of Pisces. With Neptune now transiting Pisces, our emotions are ratcheted up severalfold. We may feel a spiritual revival but we could also witness the liabilities with Pisces, with issues arising over drugs, oil, water and religious extremism. We may feel that we know what is going on and we might be determined regarding what we want to do, as if inspired by intuitive understanding and our personal destiny. But the test could be whether we are willing to accept our role as co-creators of our destiny or if we assume that we can control and master events and outcomes. It would be wise for us to keep in mind the law of unintended consequences. No matter how firm we might be in our beliefs, let’s not get fixed or rigid but rather maintain flexibility and adaptability. As the Taoist saying reminds us: ‘bend like a reed or break like an oak’.

Tuesday, April 5th – Best Practices Approach – Pluto, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. We could be highly resourceful on this Tuesday. The Moon in Taurus trines Pluto and sextiles Venus. We can accomplish a great deal by being methodical and focusing on the most important matters first. If we are looking to spruce up our home, today is a day when we could find just the right accessories and at a fairly good price. Budgeting our time and our monies might provide a clearer outlook regarding what we need to do and also free up some time for us to engage those unanticipated situations that we either want or need to address. With the tax deadline approaching, if we haven’t taken care of our tax forms, then this day might be a day to do so. Our concentration today is strong and our manner insightful so that we can find every applicable deduction and reduce our tax liability. This is a powerful day for us to attend to the mundane concerns, get things out of the way and open up some space for new things to come forward. Let’s always keep in mind the fact that the universe hates a vacuum and any open space is eventually filled. At the end of the day and early on Wednesday morning, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for thirty-six hours and throughout Wednesday making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini on Thursday. The energy dies down, so the more we can get done on this Tuesday, the better it would be. We may not have the same energy level nor the resourcefulness to expedite our more mundane responsibilities.

Wednesday, April 6th – Lazy Day – Sun, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. The Taurus Moon today makes no connections to the planets today. There is not a great deal of energy to accomplish much. We do have the Sun conjunct Jupiter today, so this day can be especially pleasant. We might be feeling good, awash in Spring fever and seeing how we can take advantage of lazing about. We could call this a ‘mental health’ day, one of those days when we just want to enjoy ourselves without feeling the overhanging obligations of our daily routine. Whether we skip out of our planned involvements today or not, we are likely to tune out and be in some magical realm, feeling good about ourselves and upbeat about our prospects. If we believe in creative visualization, then today is a magical wonderland of good times and good feelings. Our world may be stronger today in contemplation than in the practical exercise, but why not? We all need times to recharge our batteries, embrace a feel-good attitude and just enjoy ourselves. Salud!

Thursday, April 7th – Feeling the Itch – Neptune, Uranus, Mars. The Moon moves into Gemini today and we may want to go full speed ahead. We do have to be careful and avoid a ‘wrong way Corrigan’ approach whereby we start off intending one direction only to wind up somewhere completely other than what we had planned. The Moon squares Neptune and the Moon sextiles both Uranus and Mars. We might be fast out of the gate today, not as concerned about our itinerary as much as getting it going. That’s all well and good but the fastness of our speed is secondary to following our gut and being open to unexpected opportunities. This is a day when we may go from one thing to another, sampling various interests, involving ourselves in different activities. They say that ‘variety is the spice of life’ and we could prove that today. We are looking at a broad kaleidoscope of possibilities, things that grab our attention but might not hold our interest for an extended period of time. Fast and loose is the way we might choose to play this day, and it could prove wise since certain things can come about unexpectedly, things not planned for but rather things that come up out of the blue.

Friday, April 8th – Bombs Bursting – Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Pluto retrograde. Friday can have our curiosity peaked. We may continue our scavenger hunt of going from one clue to another to yet another. Our focus may not be directed, but our interest scattered and considering all our options and then some. We continue with the Gemini Moon today, which trines Saturn, squares Venus and sextiles the Aries-transiting planets of Jupiter, the Sun and Mercury. We can have a gab fest today, touching base with various people, keeping our conversations light and brief, yet wanting to cast a wide net. Part of our intent may be the development of our own personal interests, and there could be a tendency for us to be less than concerned with other people’s needs or desires. We are looking out for number one – ourselves – today. While this can be a pleasant day and a day when we engage a number of different activities, we do need to be aware of a particular energy shift that can be concurrent with explosions, blasts and bombs bursting in air. Pluto turns retrograde today, and the shift in motion of Pluto often ‘coincides’ with intense releases, releases that can be geophysical activity of volcanoes and earthquakes, releases that can be significant actings out in the general populace, or releases that can be dramatic problems associated with governmental or corporate institutions. Let’s remember that Pluto going through Capricorn signifies, and has given witness since 2008 when Pluto first entered Capricorn, the issue of whether we have built upon rock or built upon sand. Despite a general feel good sense of this day, some dramatic incident could occur that gives us pause and triggers a sense of anxiety. Whatever untoward situation on the world stage occurs today it might prove but a prelude to events on this coming Sunday and Monday.

Saturday, April 9th – Waiting for Godot – Sun, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune, Uranus. Are we shell shocked on this Saturday or just mulling things over? This Saturday has the Sun conjunct Mercury but also begins with the Moon Void-of-Course for much of the day, with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Gemini and before entering Cancer later in the day where it trines Neptune and squares Uranus. Events foreign to our daily experience might raise questions about how we could be impacted, even despite that such situations are occurring far away. Like a pebble in a pond, incidents far distant from where we are could have ripple effects and might make us wonder what ripples are likely to influence our personal lives. This is a day when we might spend time wondering about our future moves, what direction we might head in and how best to cope with the waves of events happening in the world. We might also find that we are looking to bolster the sanctuary of our home, focusing on home projects and spending time with our loved ones. Although this day can be slow starting, as the day progresses, we might rethink and rework some of our plans. Unanticipated scenarios could force us to make changes, alter our intentions and force us to broaden our perspective and widen the scope of our options. It would be wise to keep in mind the importance of a solid base. Just as climbing a mountain summit draws upon a base camp or an eagle creates its nest to then fly from it, always able to return to its nest; it would seem essential for us to consider the fundamentals of our lives, the strong foundations of our living and the base from which we can operate. With a sense of solidity backing us up, we can deal with anything that comes our way.

Sunday, April 10th – Overdrive But Going Nowhere – Lunar Grand Cross, Mars, Pluto, Saturn. Since Pluto turned retrograde late on Friday – early Saturday, we may have felt as though things were building to a head, ready to climax with liability towards dramatic releases. The energy seems ready to explode, or continue to explode if we have already witnessed some blasts over the past two days. And tomorrow’s energy could prove a significant trigger point for further dramatic releases. This Sunday engages the Cardinal Climax that we have felt since last Summer. Today, the Cancer Moon creates a Grand Cross by squaring Mars in Aries, squaring Saturn in Libra and opposing Pluto in Capricorn. We may want to get a great deal done, but we might find ourselves spinning our wheels. While there could be a tendency for us to launch forward, start up various things and initiate different projects; this day might be better served clearing away the debris, getting rid of the clutter and cleaning things up. If we can make room for our new activities, then there will be more space in which they can develop. Similar to tilling the soil, weeding the garden, today is best used in preparation rather than beginnings. Not only are we operating under the Mercury retrograde but the energy right now might be too hot to handle with a liability towards precipitous action and busy work of doing something, anything, but not getting much done. The more we can rein in our impetuousness, the fewer problems we are likely to be creating for ourselves. The energy the past few days and over the next two days could prove reminiscent of the classic Bette Davis statement in All About Eve: “Fasten your seat belts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.”
