March 14th – 20th, 2011

This week brings an end to winter. Can I get an ‘amen’? For many of us, this Winter has been long and hard, a virtual bear. Whether it’s been the weather, our health issues or just a general lassitude regarding everything that seems to be going on, we can only hope that with the Spring comes the promise of renewal, rebirth and change.

Before we get to Spring late on Sunday, early next Monday morning depending upon where we are situated; this week has some pleasant energies to begin the week but then could find us hitting the shoals towards the end of the week and over the weekend.

The early part of the week is a good time to play catch-up with outstanding issues. We may need to tie up loose ends before we can launch forward, but we’re all likely to be feeling that we want to get on with things and not have a lot standing in our way. We feel the promise of Spring ths week, have a strong dose of Spring fever and do not want to be constricted or constrained by responsibilities or obligations.

We are also looking at having some fun times this week. We want to spread our wings, enjoy ourselves and engage in some pleasurable activities with our friends and loved ones.

Although the first half of the week seems like we’re moving along on greased wheels, the latter part of the week could prove more difficult with various bumps in the road. Everyone may feel a little on edge, wondering whether we have returned to that horror film ‘The End of the World’. Our imaginations could run rampant, fuelled by unexpected situations that crop up and throw us back into a reactive mode. Let’s not fall victim to the conditions in the world or the circumstances around us. Instead, let’s see the dying gasps of things that have outlasted their usefulness but are having a hard time letting go.

Monday, March 14th – Balancing Our Needs with Other People’s Interests – Venus, Saturn, Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars. Monday can be a good time to reconnect with those people with whom we have been out of contact for a while. Venus trines Saturn, and we could use today’s energy to affirm our commitment and appreciation to that special someone, or someones, in our lives. We might feel pulled by what we want to do and other people’s interests. The Cancer Moon creates a Cardinal Sign T-Square by the Cancer Moon square both Mercury and Jupiter in Aries and square Saturn in Libra. The Moon also trines Mars. We could have a lot going on today, as we try to cover all the bases. We want to focus on our own personal interests, all the while being accommodating to other people’s needs. If we are willing to juggle and use a best practices approach to time management, we might find that we can do it all. Let’s just be sure that we are being considerate of other people’s needs and making sure that they too are cognizant of our own personal needs. A balancing act might be necessary, but it can be accomplished. We just have to create a level playing field and affirm a win-win scenario.

Tuesday, March 15th – The Ides of March – Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus. It is said that Julius Caesar was cautioned by a soothsayer: ‘Beware the Ides of March’, to which Caesar replied: ‘The Ides have come.’ The soothsayer is said to have retorted: ‘The Ides have come but they have not gone’. Shortly thereafter, Caesar was stabbed to death. Not that this March 15th has to be reminiscent of Caesar’s situation on this day in 44 BC. On the contrary, this day can be especially pleasant. What we have to watch for is indulgence, excess and extravagance today. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter and we could be feeling very upbeat, enthusiastic and confident. We might feel that all’s right in the world, at least in our world, and no matter the niggling problems we may have to cope with we can deal with them swiftly and effectively. We also start the day with the Cancer Moon trine the Sun. Yes, we may be feeling as though our life is unfolding as it should [which, of course, no matter our circumstances, it is]. We might feel that we are walking our path, our manifest destiny, and now moving ahead more like driving a streamlined highway than rutted roads. We could be feeling on top of the world. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for about nine and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Cancer and before entering Leo where it trines Uranus. We may start the day in one direction but the latter part of the day allows for those mini-miracles, those incidents of synchronicity, whereby some wonderful surprises open up to us. If we have not overly scheduled ourselves for this Monday, we have the opportunity of taking advantage of situations that come out of the blue, could be fun events and can make us feel more alive and thrilled by the magic of these times.

Wednesday, March 16th – Greasing the Wheels – Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn, Venus. Wednesday seems to be a crescendo to this week, could be the primo day of the week but after today things could slide downhill through the weekend. This day has the Leo Moon trine Jupiter and trine Mercury, sextile Saturn and opposed Venus. We can make a good impression, put the best possible spin on things. Our enthusiasm could prove contagious. We are not interested in the dark clouds, only the silver lining and the blue sky above. Today is one of those days when things may be going our way. We do need to be discerning, since our confidence could exceed our grasp. If we get carried away by our optimism, we might take on more than we can handle and some people might then confuse our exuberance with arrogant narcissism. Let’s focus on our personal interests, enjoy ourselves but avoid stepping on other people’s toes. Yes, the wheels today can be greased and we can move smoothly ahead. We can win the admiration and support of other people but it would be important to pick and choose where we place our energy.

Thursday, March 17th – Too Much of a Good Thing – Neptune. This Thursday is St. Patrick’s Day. We might not be chasing the snakes out of Ireland as the legend goes regarding Saint Patrick, but we do need to be clear and astute regarding what is going on. No buying into legends today, even the disposition of being a legend in our own mind. With the Leo Moon opposed Neptune we could make assumptions based upon our desires and our perceived best case scenario. We could even get a little delusional, buying the story, neglecting the facts. We also need to avoid indulgence. Although St. Paddy’s Day often gives us license to indulge, it would be wise to maintain a sense of moderation on this day. Everything today could be a little over the top. We are coming off a couple of days when the storm clouds seem to have parted and we may have been walking on the sunny side of the street. Our over-confidence, if acted upon, could create some real problems for us down the road. We might forget the details and concentrate solely on our hopes and wishes. If we take that attitude, we are likely to walk the garden path, oblivious to the brambles and potential pitfalls. Awareness is key today. Let’s not buy into the hype, whether our own spin or other people’s take on things. Otherwise, we could find ourselves enmeshed in too much of a good thing.

Friday, March 18th – No Messing With Me – Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, Mars. Friday could prove a tug-of-war. Mercury opposes Saturn and the Moon in Virgo trines Pluto and opposes Mars. People may be a little belligerent today. If they feel blocked or hampered, there could be some strong reactions and a tendency to over-react. Everyone could be a little hypercritical, looking to win their points whether reality backs them up or not, and dismissing other people’s points of view. If we don’t get entangled in debates, heated discussions and arguments, we could use the day as a good and intense strategic planning day. But we might have to go it alone, since winning the support of other people might prove difficult today. Let’s use this day to line our ducks up in a row, blueprint and strategize and wait for a better time to present our ideas or move forward with our projects.

Saturday, March 19th – The Ins and Outs – Virgo Full Moon, Sun, Uranus. Saturday has the Virgo Full Moon with the Moon opposed the Sun. The Moon then moves into Libra where it opposes Uranus. Our relationships could be a little dicey today. People may be on edge, as if waiting for a shoe to drop. While anxiety can be prevalent, we do have to keep from falling into a victim mode. We are at the end of Winter and similar to any transition from one phase to a different phase, we might feel a little discombobulated. Let’s keep our expenses to a minimum for there could be a tendency to buy into the saying that ‘when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping’. Today is a day to take everything with a grain of salt, cut ourselves and other people a good amount of slack, and not get too emotionally involved in the judgments or opinions of what might seem to have gone wrong. There is no benefit in a mea culpa attitude. We don’t have to feel guilty nor make other people feel guilty today. Tai chi moves are called for, whereby we become fully mindful of the energy operating, work with the energy to our benefit and not fall into an emotional, reactive mode.

Sunday, March 20th – Cardinal Climax Redux – Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Vernal Equinox, Sun Aries. Well, here we go again. The Cardinal Climax that was in play last Summer and in play again now is triggered on this last day of Winter and beginning of Spring. The Libra Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn, conjuncts Saturn and opposes both Jupiter and Mercury in Aries. Late in the day, early Monday morning in Europe and East, the Sun exits Pisces at the Vernal Equinox, the beginning of Spring and the astrological new year, as the Sun enters Aries. The question of whether we have built upon rock or built upon sand is up for all of us. We may have to do an inventory taking, consider what is important for our present and our future and what we need to be rid of. The different facets of our lives can be called up for review and evaluation. With a Stellium of three or more planets in Aries as the Sun joins Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus, we could find ourselves increasingly impetuous, dashing forward without due deliberation and possibly neglecting a necessary clean out before engaging new projects.
