The first full week of 2011, this week allows us to put our feet down, take care of our responsibilities and contemplate our prospects for the future. We may feel as though a lull in the craziness of the world has settled on the land. In such a backdrop, we might also have the sense that we can move ahead without feeling the earth move under our feet or other destabilizing factors that may have knocked us off center, kept us out of balance, and had us anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Not that we should become oblivious to the changes in the world around us. We aren’t out of the woods yet, but we may be less concerned about the world at large and far more interested in how we can progress and advance our personal interests forward.
We start the week in an upbeat mood. We may have a sense of magic and miracles evident in our daily exchanges. Serendipity might seem in play. But serendipity and synchronicity are becoming ever more familiar to us, even if we casually cast them aside as interesting coincidences. For myself, two situations this past Friday brought home to me how small the world really is and how we can bump into people we know even in the most unlikeliest of places. Yes, magic is in the air.
Fuelled by the sense of possibilities, this week offers us the ability of having our head in the clouds and our feet firmly planted on the ground. We do have to be careful not to fall into the audacity of arrogance, a tendency for us to assume that things will work out exactly as we planned and in the precise way we intended. A sense of invincibility could foster an irrational exuberance whereby we see only the good and the positive but close our eyes to the liabilities and the negatives. Such an attitude could generate reckless behavior, which might prove costly if we become extravagant and excessive in our risk-taking.
Monday, January 3rd – Sorting Through – Pluto. The week begins with the Moon moving out of Sagittarius and entering Capricorn where it conjuncts Pluto. With a thrust of energy and confidence, we can deal with our responsibilities and sort through the piles of stuff that we need to either deal with or throw out. We are in the dark side of the Moon, prior to tomorrow’s New Moon and Solar Eclipse. While we might want to dive into new projects and get things going on this Monday, the wisest course of action would be in cleaning up the clutter and clearing the decks in readiness for the opening of the starting gate that the New Moon offers us.
Tuesday, January 4th – Going for the Gold – Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, Uranus, Capricorn New Moon, Solar Eclipse, Sun, Saturn, Mars. This day could have us going for the gold. The key question, however, will be whether the gold is the true thing or fool’s gold, where the shimmering appearance masks the base reality. Tuesday can be a day when people go over the top, extravagant, indulgent, excessive, with nothing done in half measure or with deliberate thought. Jupiter conjuncts Uranus, Venus trines both Uranus and Jupiter, and Venus squares Neptune. Today is also the day of the Capricorn New Moon, a Solar Eclipse with the Sun Moon conjunction square Saturn. The Moon also conjuncts Mars. There may be no stopping us today, but it would be wise that we be diligent in regard to our plans, our itinerary and our intended destination. Once we have a head of steam going, we are off and running. This is a day when irrational exuberance may know no bounds. Watch for commentators who emphasize that the ‘good times are here again’, advocating the economic recovery and suggesting that society is back on the fast track towards progress, prosperity and unstoppable success. Nice concept but the hype may be far stronger than the reality. We could easily brush aside our concern over our resources and jump into the risk-taking pool, assuming that things will work to our advantage no matter how we do so. Restraints to our euphoria would be an important tempering factor but one that we might chaff against. Although the energy could seem more than positive today, it would help to have a devil’s advocate, someone who could point out the limited resources or the liabilities that may lie in wait along the way. If I have to be one of those devil’s advocates, I would advise a strong dose of caution in decisions and plans made today. There are times when things seem too good to be true and this day and the coming fortnight could be one of those times.
Wednesday, January 5th – Magic Happens – Uranus, Jupiter, Venus. Although I have raised the cautionary flag that things being presented may seem too good to be true, I might as well be spitting into the wind. For the sense of enthusiasm and confidence and the belief that things always work out for the best may be the sentiments as we begin 2011. This Wednesday begins with the Capricorn Moon sextile both Uranus and Jupiter in Pisces and also sextile Venus in Scorpio. The early part of the day is a time when we can virtually pull rabbits out of the hat. Things seem to fall into place easily. And even if our resources are limited, we could find ourselves stretching them and able to accomplish what we need done. This is a day when magic seems at play, serendipitous meetings and connections, streamlined operations whereby we are far more effective than usual and with less expenditure of energy. If we need assistance, we might experience that help coming in a most miraculous, serendipitous way. This Wednesday is an exciting day, a day when we can put various things in order and get a great deal accomplished. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. We might find ourselves resting on our laurels or contemplating our next steps in a more autonomous and more self-expressive future. This Wednesday is one of those days when we are not looking back at our past but rather looking forward into the myriad of exciting possibilities. We may feel as though there are no limits to our prospects except for those we place upon ourselves.
Thursday, January 6th – Right Connections – Saturn. After Tuesday and Wednesday being something of a whirlwind of energy and great delight, Thursday could slow the energy down. The Moon in Aquarius today trines Saturn. We may reach out to those we people in whom we have implicit trust and use them as a sounding board regarding our future plans. We may have envisioned all sorts of possibilities for ourselves in the days ahead, but today is a day when we might share some of our thoughts with those people who can provide a grounded commentary on what we intend to do. This Thursday is also a day when we could catch up with those people we had wanted to spend time with over the holidays but the frenzy of the holiday period just didn’t afford us the opportunity to do so. Reconnections and right connections seem our focus on this Thursday. Not that we are putting the brakes on our new found enthusiasm and confidence, but we are likely to allow certain ideas and some of our plans to gestate and take greater form in regard to how we can move from the abstract of the concept into the practical manifestation and application. Other people could be helpful in our fine tuning our ideas and our plans. Let’s keep in mind that we are living in dynamic times, and in such a period there is a great deal of volatility. We may have been on a ‘high’ to start the year, but slowing things down and taking a more reflective tone could allow us to focus on the truly meaningful and avoid those situations that could prove merely pleasant diversions.
Friday, January 7th – Another Brick in the Wall – Sun, Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Venus Sagittarius. This Friday could prove paradoxical. We may have felt like we have been in high gear, virtually on turbo-thrust, earlier in the week. We might have shifted down into a more practical and realistic mode yesterday with a little help from our friends. But this Friday seems one of the push-pull between the old and new. Whenever we are about to make significant changes, it seems as though matters of the past crop up to provide a mirror, and a challenge, as to whether we are truly going to jump ahead or if old matters entrap us providing too much of a comfort zone for us to launch forward and leave much of our past behind. Today could be one of those days when old matters bang up against some of our intended future plans. The Sun squares Saturn today and the Aquarius Moon sextiles Mercury and conjuncts Neptune. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces where it squares Venus, which today has just entered Sagittarius. Our energy level may not be the strongest and we might feel like the wind has been knocked out of our sails. Although we wish to expand our activities and broaden our interests, we could be seduced by images and presentations, those things that seem good because they are different from our norm, rather than concentrating on the substance and true reality of things. As the day progresses, we could become more moody, our emotions turned up severalfold, even to the point of spinning our wheels as we feel the pain of other people without being able to effectively deal with their problems.
Saturday, January 8th – Step by Step – Pluto. Saturday has the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto. This day is a good time for us to take care of errands, deal with outstanding matters that we wish to get behind us and focus on what truly needs to be done. While yesterday might have had us chasing illusory dreams, we are far more focused today and looking at what we can do and how we can do things expeditiously. If we are looking at clearing out our closets, getting rid of those items that no longer work for us and provide room for the new things of this new year to come forward, today is a good day to do so. We may feel more compassionate today but in a less maudlin manner and with greater ability to address pressing needs. Saturday is a day to take things step by step. In so doing, we can accomplish a great deal, get rid of the extraneous and focus on the truly important.
Sunday, January 9th – Laying the Groundwork – Sun. Sunday has the Pisces Moon sextile the Sun. Today is a continuation of yesterday, and a good day for us to clean up our surroundings, do the necessary filing of outstanding matters, and make room for the new energies of this new year. It is essential that in tying up loose ends we recognize a tendency to take a walk down Memory Lane. Whenever we are cleaning up and clearing out elements of our past, various emotions and memories can flood over us. Instead of getting swamped by the recapitulation of our past, let’s see ourselves as if under a waterfall with the various droplets of memories and emotions washing over us and not submerging us. We can lay the groundwork of our future projects and our plans by getting rid of those old elements that could negatively impact our future progress. This weekend is a good time for us to clean up our storage units, go through our closets and make various runs to thrift stores or consignment stores. A factor of these times is to move away from the planned obsolescence of the past and give more attention to recycling. What we might no longer use or need could be a treasure for someone else. The paradigm shift that we are going through calls for us to be resourceful, conservation-minded and conservative in the use of our resources, whether those resources be time, monies or energy. We are learning to be more effective with less expenditure of energy.
