May 4th – 10th

This week could be slow starting.  We might have a great deal on our plate, and unexpected situations to cope with as well.  Other people’s needs may place demands on us, taking us away from what we wanted to do.  This week can be a real roller coaster with various stresses and strains to begin the week before things settle down later in the week only to ratchet up again over the weekend.

Mid-week begins the second of this year’s three Mercury retrogrades, which are akin to Murphy’s Law whereby ‘whatever can go wrong will.’  This Mercury retrograde lasts through the rest of the month.  Significant decisions or important matters are best dealt with prior to the Mercury retrograde or after Mercury turns direct at the end of the month.  Communications can be off, travel plans disrupted and misunderstandings a strong liability.  Whatever we have to say or do, let’s check and recheck before finalizing any thing.

With thoughts less than crystal clear and liabilities to misspeaking, the weekend could prove dicey.  A great deal of emotion can come up.  A sense of loss, elimination or feeling victimized might seem to cut away some of our hopes and wishes and impact our relationships.  It is essential that we not jump to conclusions.

It would be wise to deal with outstanding matters at the beginning of the week, enjoy quality time with good friends mid-week and be wary of moodiness and emotional reactions over the weekend.

Monday, May 4th – Dance with Me – Sun, Saturn, Uranus.  Monday starts the week with the Virgo Moon trine the Sun and the Moon conjunct Saturn and opposed Uranus.  Although we may feel that we are focused on our tasks at hand and able to work with a best practices approach, we might also have to deal with the volatility of these times.  The Saturn Uranus opposition, in play since last November and continuing through the first half of 2010, is engaged today.  We know what we need to do, may have our day fully scheduled, but could also have unexpected situations coming up that demand our attention.  If we lose sight of the fact that we never get more than we can handle, we might feel on overwhelm, resentful of all that is being asked of us, and fall into a fit of depression.  Why go there?  Instead, we could see this day as one where we get to practice our juggling routine, keeping the balls of our daily affairs in the air, all the while that we are being thrown some curve balls to juggle as well.  The test is whether we can be flexible, able to adapt to unexpected situations, and still address our responsibilities.  A good approach to this day is to make a ‘to do’ list of all the activities we need to accomplish and carve out some ‘me’ time when we can do things on impulse, on a spontaneous level, or free time that might be absorbed by surprising demands placed on us.  This day is not a day for stasis but rather dancing to the changing rhythms of familiar steps along with new twists.

Tuesday, May 5th – Here, There, and Everywhere – Sun, Saturn, Mercury, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Venus.  We can be highly effective on this Tuesday, if we would keep our mind on what we need to do.  Let’s keep in mind that Mercury is about to turn retrograde on Thursday, and will be retrograde through the rest of the month.  The more we can address, deal with and accomplish prior to the Mercury retrograde, the less hassles we shall have during the retrograde cycle.  Any significant decisions, major purchases need to be dealt with prior to the Mercury retrograde or after the retrograde cycle at the end of the month or into June.  If we do have significant decisions or major purchases scheduled during the Mercury retrograde, it would be wise to symbolically close the deal today prior to the Mercury retrograde, even just by writing down on a piece of paper the agreement or decision to be made.  Today is a day when we can stretch our finances, find ourselves some real bargains and straighten up our lives.  The Taurus Sun trines Saturn in Virgo today, and the Virgo Moon trines Mercury in Taurus.  The early part of the day could prove the most productive.  Whatever we had on our ‘to do’ list from yesterday left undone, let’s concentrate on any unfinished business today.  Prioritizing is important on this Tuesday, since as the day progresses the Moon moves out of Virgo and enters Libra where it creates a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Libra Moon square Pluto in Capricorn and opposed Venus in Aries.  Suddenly, our focus can shift from our personal needs and responsibilities to a broader perspective whereby we are more impacted by other people’s needs or wants.  We could easily get thrown off track from our good intentions and a concentration on our micro world by the influences of the macro world, the people around us and the world at large.  Instead of reacting immediately to the whims of other people, it would be wise to put off our interaction with them until the next day or two and concentrate instead on what we need to address and complete.

Wednesday, May 6th – More than One – Mars.  The push pull we might have felt yesterday between our personal needs and those of other people could continue today when we have the Libra Moon opposed Mars.  Our interests lie beyond our own domain and we may be involved with social gatherings, contacting friends on the phone or on the Internet or just focused on friends’ and loved ones’ issues.  Today is a good day for us to get out of our own way, draw upon other people’s input and see life from a viewpoint other than just our own.  Someone could prove an important sounding board, keeping us from racing full speed ahead without considering the circumstances, conditions, our direction or even our intended destination.  Even though we might want to get a great deal done, utilize our own resources and not feel either constricted or constrained by other people, a little braking action today might not be a bad idea.  No matter how much due diligence we may have done regarding a situation, taking notice of someone else’s perspective would be advised.

Thursday, May 7th -Walking the Talk – Jupiter, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Pluto, Mercury retrograde.  Thursday begins with the Libra Moon trine Jupiter and Neptune.  We may be enthused by our future prospects.  We might feel uplifted by our recent contacts.  We could decide to make plans with other people for fun social interactions.  That’s all well and good, but it would be wise to keep in mind that Mercury is turning retrograde today.  Whatever we do or say, it would be important for us to check and make sure that we’ve covered all the essential details.  Mercury is retrograding initially through its own Sign of Gemini.  As a result, communication, travel and Internet connections can all experience difficulties.  Talk may be cheap but today and for the rest of the month, talk may be easy but without follow-through and without full disclosure.  The Moon goes Void-of-Course for over six and a half hours, making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before entering Scorpio where it sextiles Pluto.  The lull in energy can be increased due to the Mercury retrograde and a tendency for us to fumble about.  Later in the day, the energy shifts dramatically, moving from an interest and interaction with other people to a focus on stripping away the superfluous and irrelevant from our lives to the point of our concentrating on truly the meaningful and those situations that hold real purpose.

Friday, May 8th – Sorting Through – Saturn.  The Scorpio Moon today sextiles Saturn.  We continue our inventory taking and ridding ourselves of things that only waste our time.  We can come up with a best practices approach and strategize the methods of getting our optimum results with as little energy wastage — whether time, finances, or focus — as possible.  We may be concentrating on the details and particulars of our lives, all with the idea of sorting through the various aspects of our lives and honing our involvements.  We could cut to the core, get to the heart of any matter and be more effective with less expenditure of energy. Today is a good day to tie up loose ends, bring things to completion but with a knowledge that we have to check and re-check our actions in order to be certain that nothing has fallen between the cracks.  The more we clean up our mess and clear away the clutter, the more we can be clearer and to the point of all our actions.  Let’s keep in mind that the cup has to be emptied before it can be filled.  Today and tomorrow are good days for a major spring cleaning, going through our closets, evaluating our schedule and cutting away the excess, the superfluous, the dross in our lives.

Saturday, May 9th – Cutting Away the Fat – Scorpio Full Moon, Lunar T-Square, Sun, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course.  Friday evening for some, Saturday early morning for others, gives us the Scorpio Full Moon with the Sun Moon opposition square by Sign to both Jupiter and Neptune in Aquarius.  This Scorpio Full Moon also ties in with Saturn, with the Moon sextile Saturn and the Sun trine Saturn.  The Moon also trines Uranus.  We continue with any Spring cleaning we might have begun on Friday.  All those things with which we have become enamored are now under closer scrutiny and a stricter evaluation to see whether they truly hold water and are areas for further development or if they have been merely delusions of grandeur and aspects of hoped-for dreams, which have no basis in reality or any probability of being realized.  Even our circle of friends can come under a close investigation to see if we are engaging with true friends or fair weather friends.  We are looking to make changes in our lives and while much of yesterday and some of today can be an emptying process and finishing up some of our involvements, we can also add new things to our action list.  Testing the waters of new interests and adding more spice to our lives by increasing the variety of our engagements can also be part of this Saturday.  Let’s take time to act on impulse, be spontaneous and allow ourselves to do things that capture our fancy.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seven hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before entering Sagittarius.  Our intensity and our need to do it now can start to fall away and we might find that we are feeling far more upbeat during our evening hours.  From a desire to cut to the core and rid ourselves of any heavy weights to our lives, we begin to feel more expansive and desirous of stretching our parameters.

Sunday, May 10th – Near or Far – Mercury, Venus.  This Sunday is Mother’s Day.  With the Sagittarius Moon opposed Mercury and trine Venus, today is a good for our interactions with our mothers and our loved ones to show them we care.  Whether near or far, we may want to make contact with those people who have a profound impact on our lives.  Let’s be aware that both travel and communications could be a little off today.  We may want to cover many different bases but in our desire to do so we might not incorporate all the thoughts and wishes we wish to convey.  We need to be more to the point today since there could be a tendency to ramble on with interminable discussions that go from one thing to another but without real depth and without necessary sequiturs.  If we work with quality of time whereby we spend as much time as necessary with any one social interaction but then go on to another engagement, our contacts can be far more effective and even uplifting.  Let’s keep a positive, upbeat attitude, since our presence and our reaching out to other people are far more significant than anything we might say.  A good day for travel, we would need to check our itinerary and have contingency plans before we head out the door.  This Sunday can be a feel good day and one that nourishes our soul and uplifts our spirit.
